The developer had hoped to have the shmup ready by the end of 2021, but made the last-minute decision to delay it to give its development team more time for polish. The Cresta series has been around since the 1980s. You can play Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta, two of the franchise’s more recent entries, through the collection on PS4. What makes Sol Cresta interesting is that it started life as an . Image: PlatinumGames

After having to delay its “must-watch” livestream earlier this month, PlatinumGames has now finally aired its “release date forum” – locking in a release date for its anticipated shmup, Sol Cresta.

Hideki Kamiya has confirmed it will land on the Switch eShop next month on 22nd February for €39.99 / $39.99 / 3,980 yen. In addition to this, the team shared the final artwork for the game, which you can see above.

This news follows on from the game experiencing a last-minute delay towards the end of 2021 – with Kamiya announcing back then a December 9th launch would no longer be possible, as the team needed more development time.

Sol Cresta by PlatinumGames Gets New Release Date in February and New Gameplay

News

Today, during a livestream from Japan, Hideki Kamiya himself announced the release date of PlatinumGames’ shoot ’em up Sol Cresta

Today, during a livestream from Japan, Hideki Kamiya himself announced the release date of PlatinumGames’ shoot ’em up Sol Cresta

The new release date is February 22, 2022. This follows a delay announced back in November.

Sol Cresta is coming for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s a retro-style vertical shooter with Gattai (combination) elements.

We also get to see the key art, which you can enjoy below, alongside another painting portraying the cast.

We then get to see gameplay of the third stage of the game alongside a look at the Switch version in vertical mode. You can watch it below.

If you’d like to see more, you can enjoy the previous gameplay videos, and another from events broadcasted a few months ago.

Speaking of PlatinumGames, they recently released a brand new DLC for The Wonderful 101: Remastered and named Atsushi Inaba as the new president of the studio.

The studio is also working on its own on its new IP Project G.G and on Babylon Fall for Square Enix. Of course, we should not forget about Bayonetta 3, which has recently been re-revealed.

No Joke, PlatinumGames Is Releasing Sol Cresta On The Nintendo Switch

Remember this time last year when PlatinumGames pranked everyone with the announcement of a new arcade shoot ’em up known as Sol Cresta? Well, now – a year later (believe it or not), it’s announced the same game really is happening and will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC at some point in 2021.

The announcement trailer featured above notes how the game is “now in development” – so stay tuned for more updates, like a release date. As we previously mentioned, this title is based on the ’80s side-scrolling shoot em’ ups Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta, and will apparently be the first entry in Hamster’s “Neo-Classic Arcade” series.

It’s worth pointing out Hamster retweeted the below tweet and filed a logo trademark for Sol Cresta last month.

Back in January, Hideki Kamiya told fans this particular announcement would be “smaller in scale” compared to the previous ones, but expected it to still be exciting. Noticeably, there’s also a new “2021” date on the PlatinumGames’ website. Fingers crossed it’s got something to do with Bayonetta 3.

Like the look of Sol Cresta? Can you believe it’s actually happening? Leave a comment down below.

PlatinumGames, in partnership with Hamster, has announced Sol Cresta, a new title that inherits the spirit of classic shoot ’em up games Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta, and the first entry in its “Neo Classic Arcade” series. It will be available for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC (Steam).

Sol Cresta was first teased as an April Fools’ Day joke in 2020, but now appears to be a real game.

The announcement trailer ends with the text, “now in development.”

Kim Jong Un’s wife Ri Sol Ju appears in public for first time in a year

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s wife appeared in public for the first time in more than a year on Wednesday, at a concert marking one of the nation’s biggest holidays.

Ri Sol Ju and her hubby were seen in photos published by state media, sitting side by side and smiling at the Mansudae Art Theatre in the capital of Pyongyang.

The event commemorated the birthday of Kim’s late father and former leader Kim Jong Il.

While the Hermit Kingdom’s first lady has often accompanied Kim, 36, to major public events, she’s been out of the limelight since last January, when she attended an event for the Lunar New Year holiday.

Her absence from the public eye sparked speculation over her health and rumors that she may be pregnant.

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) told lawmakers on Tuesday that Ri appeared to have held back from outside events to ward off the coronavirus.

Ri, who is believed to be in her mid-30s, has been spending her time “playing well” with the couple’s three children, the NIS said.

Nobody in the new images of the couple — released by the official ruling Worker’s Party newspaper Rodong Sinmun — were wearing masks or maintaining social distancing measures.

The newspaper also reported that Kim visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, which houses the embalmed bodies of his father and grandfather, to lay wreaths for the holiday, called the Day of the Shining Star.
