Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge Has Been Updated, Here Are The Patch Notes

Image: Nintendo Life / Dotemu

Dotemu and Tribute Games’ fantastic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge has been updated to version 1.0.4, bringing with it a handful of small tweaks and bug fixes to help tighten up the brawler even more.

Shared on Steam by the developers (thanks, Nintendo Everything), many of these changes are for the PC version of the game, though others are for all console versions.

Like a delicious pizza, we just keep coming back for more, and this latest update allows for Party Codes, where you can create rooms for matchmaking with friends, to be shared online.

Here are the full patch notes for version 1.0.4:

Version 1.0.4, 7th November 2022

NEW FEATURE
Party Codes (ONLINE):

– You can now share Party Codes (five letters only) for easier matchmaking with friends who can now jump in via Join Party Code. Those are displayed at the bottom of the host’s party panel.

IMPROVEMENT
Online:
– The difficulty is now displayed for each lobby when looking for online games
– Remapped the kick button to prevent misclick in the host’s party panel

Controller
– Fixed displaying Xbox glyphs when playing with a PS5 controller and the Steam Input feature disabled.

FIXES
Gameplay:
– Fixed long respawn delay after falling in holes in single-player mode

Online:
– Fixed rare issues with enemies becoming invincible when a player quits the game
– Fixed client-side Chrome Dome sometime invincible when it shouldn’t be
– Fixed Krang’s torso not receiving any damage from clients, only the host
– Fixed clients sometimes not unlocking a cameo that the host found
– Fixed infinite online sign-in when Epic Launcher isn’t installed

Controls
– Fixed keyboard custom key binding only taking into account the first local player

We’re still playing Shredder’s Revenge months after it launched — it really is that darn good — but we’re especially glad to see matchmaking made that much easier with friends online.

TMNT Shredder’s Revenge Sells 1 Million In A Week

Screenshot: Tribute Games

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was released last month across multiple platforms and to widely positive reviews. Now, the studio behind the retro-inspired arcade beat ‘em up has shared the news that TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge sold one million copies in just its first week. Impressive as shell, I say!

Developed by Tribute Games and published by DotEmu, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge dropped on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC on June 16. And apparently, according to a new tweet from Tribute Games, the co-op brawler was able to shift a million copies by June 23.

“We are humbled to have so many people sharing our love of the Turtles,” tweeted Tribute Games. “One million copies sold in its first week calls for a mondo pizza party with tubular toppings! Thanks again to all of you all over the globe and in Dimension X!”

Interesting to remember that Shredder’s Revenge was released day one on Xbox’s Game Pass, making this million copies sold stat even more impressive. And now, a few weeks past the initial release date of June 16, it’s very likely that the newest TMNT game has sold even more than a million copies. All that money could buy a lot of pizza.

Kotaku’s very own Jeremy Winslow described the game as a “gnarly time” that only becomes more “bodacious” when you bring in some friends and play co-op together. And I agree! I’ve already beaten the game three times with two different groups of people via couch co-op and had a blast each time. I don’t even really care about TMNT or arcade beat ‘em ups, yet I still had a radical time with Shredder’s Revenge.

I’m curious to see how the upcoming collection of retro TMNT games will do following the hugely successful Shredder’s Revenge. I can imagine a lot more people are now interested in playing more TMNT video games. And the 13 TMNT games in the Cowabunga Collection might just be the perfect thing to scratch that itch.

Also, DotEmu and Tribute have said that depending on how well the game sells, they could add DLC costumes or more to it in the future. I gotta think a million copies sold in seven days might help convince the bean counters to spend some money on DLC.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge Has Been Updated On Switch

Last week, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made a return in their new video game outing Shredder’s Revenge. While most players are probably having a blast in the game, there have been a small number of issues popping up here and there.

Dotemu and Tribute Games appear to have the situation under control – rolling out a new patch that addresses some of the issues reported by players so far. Once again, it’s all minor stuff, but if you haven’t already booted up the game, be ready to install Version 1.0.2 next time you launch it on your Nintendo Switch.

Here are the patch notes in full via the game’s official Discord server (thanks, Nintendo Everything):

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge – Version 1.0.2 (June 22nd, 2022)

– Fixed random crashes that occurred at the end of the stages.

– Potential improvement for the “10 min boot” issue faced by some users.

Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

Today sees the arrival of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge across multiple platforms including the Switch.

In case you missed the coverage in the lead up to its release, this is a classic-inspired brawler starring not only the turtles but plenty of other familiar faces. There’s also multiplayer for up to six players. If you’re still not sold, read on to see the round up of the reviews so far.

First off, we’ll spotlight our own briefly. We gave the game an “excellent” 9 out of 10 stars:

Right, with that out of the way, here are some thoughts from elsewhere – kicking off with IGN, who gave this new release 8 out of 10:

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is exactly what it looks like: A lovingly crafted reimagining of the TMNT arcade beat-em-ups from one of the best beat-em-up developers in the business today.”

Nintendo World Report gave the turtle’s latest game 9 out of 10:

“In short, if you’re a TMNT fan or love beat-’em-ups, you’ll surely dig the colorful and upbeat Shredder’s Revenge, especially if you can find a few other ninjas to kick back with.”

GamingBible was just as taken with it, awarding another 9 out of 10 score:

“File Shredder’s Revenge alongside the likes of Streets of Rage 4 and River City Girls as a contemporary masterpiece of its kind, an exemplary demonstration of how to spruce up a stylistic road well walked already after so many go-straight experiences, and somehow make the journey so much more special than the destination.”

EGM gave it 4 out of 5 stars, but did have a few issues:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge looks to bring back the glory days of Konami’s side-scrolling arcade beat ’em ups and home hits based on everyone’s favorite young green ninjas. In its visuals and gameplay, Dotemu and Tribute Games have not only matched those retro classics that they’re paying homage to here, but perhaps even surpassed them. Sadly, this trip through time is somewhat marred by inconsistent audio and an Arcade mode that feels more like a slog than a thrill.”

And last but not least, GoNintendo – another outlet that absolutely loved it:

“TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is the genuine article, and once again proves how Dotemu has an incredible respect for/understanding of classic beat’em-ups. Now we know that Tribute Games is capable of just the same, and these two teaming up has resulted in not just one of the best TMNT games ever, but one of the best beat’em-ups in years.”

Apart from a “world premiere” of the highly anticipated LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video game by TT Games, Nintendo Switch fans can also look forward to an announcement and footage of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.

The new TMNT game was announced earlier this year in April and has been described as a classic-inspired brawler with some seriously strong retro vibes.

“Inspired by the Turtles’ iconic 1987 design,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge brings New York City’s most righteous ninjas to life with gorgeous pixel art that’d look right at home in your favorite retro arcade. From showdowns with infamous rivals like Bebop and Rocksteady to returns to signature locales like Dimension X, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is a bodacious celebration of classic TMNT beat-em-ups with its own modern touches.”
