Jeff Jarrett Blasts Max Caster Over Recent AEW Segment

With their latest rap video, The Acclaimed lit a fire under Jeff Jarrett heading into their tag team match this Wednesday on “AEW Dynamite.” During the diss track, Caster took several digs at Jarrett — including a shot about his wife Karen and her ex-husband Kurt Angle — referencing the trio’s issues in TNA back in the 2000s when Jeff and Karen became a couple.

This week, Jarrett used the platform of his podcast, “My World,” to fire back at “Platinum” Max Caster, revealing how angry he was to hear that his wife was once again bearing the brunt of a situation that happened over a decade ago. “I’ve heard a bunch of old timers live by the creed don’t mess with my family and don’t mess with my money,” Jarrett stated. “Max did both. He messed with my family and my money. Karen is a personality, [but not with AEW]. The whole [idea] that I’m stealing Kurt Angle’s wife — that is a generation removed, and I want to set the record straight here.

“I’ve kept my mouth shut 10, 12 years, for two reasons: Kyra Angle and Cody Angle,” he continued. “They’re old enough now, they know the absolute truth. But me stealing Kurt’s wife is the furthest thing from the truth. The fact of the matter is when we hired Kurt Angle, me and Dixie Carter — because she’s a part of this story — they were legally separated, and they weren’t living under the same roof. Enough is enough, we’re 13 years removed from this. “

Kurt Angle also shared his frustrated thoughts on Twitter in a recently removed tweet that said, “When you got to use my name to get heat after 12 years” with the hashtag “MoveOn” added. Reacting to the Olympic gold medalist’s words, Jarrett also relayed that he believes Angle is also “sick and tired of this,” but that he shouldn’t have gotten involved in what’s happening in AEW. “The Last Outlaw” did however contribute that if Angle thinks he needs his name to get heat, he’s delusional.

Jarrett did reserve some remarks for Caster though, threatening a receipt on Wednesday night’s show and telling one-half of the current AEW Tag Team Champions that he went too far and opened up a can of worms he may live to regret.

BBC’s Sarah McMullen suffers sepsis after segment on illness

A British TV reporter is warning others about how she contracted sepsis and failed to spot its symptoms – even after she had interviewed a woman who almost died of the illness just a month prior.

Sarah McMullen, a journalist with BBC Scotland, spent six days in a hospital after she developed the life-threatening result of the body’s radical response to an infection.

The condition also is known as the “hidden killer” due to the difficulty to detect it as the immune response attacks the body and risks organ failure.

McMullen fell ill just a month after she had interviewed sepsis survivor Kimberley Bradley, who was left comatose for eight days, on “The Nine,” the BBC reported.

Bradley said she had contracted meningococcal septicemia, which developed into full-blown sepsis, also known as blood poisoning.

“A month after doing this interview, I ended up very unwell with sepsis myself. Resulting in an A and E visit, a week in hospital and a couple more weeks of tablets and rest,” McMullen, 30, said on Twitter, using the British term for the emergency room.

The journalist sought to further educate the public and urged people who have the symptoms to get immediate help.

“I should’ve acted sooner,” she acknowledged.

McMullen told BBC Radio Scotland’s “Drivetime” that Bradley “spoke through all of the symptoms and what to look out for and what to remember and when to get help and I did not remember them well enough.”

She said she began feeling unwell at her studio in Glasgow, where she got cold and developed goose bumps.

“Then I started physically shaking and all the color drained from my face,” McMullen said. “My lips were turning blue. My hands were chalk white, like you had been standing outside in winter for hours.”

The journalist said recognizing the symptoms “is the difference between it being life or death in some instances,”

She said she “felt like something mentally might be happening to me because I was so confused and quite weepy, actually.”

Later, McMullen tried to sleep off the symptoms but they got progressively worse and she finally sought help about two days later.

When she arrived at the hospital, she was admitted as a category two patient.

“Category one is life-threatening so I was very unwell,” she said, explaining that she was given antibiotics and morphine as her temperature spiked.

McMullen ended up spending six days at the hospital.

“It could have been a lot worse. That’s what I was told on several occasions,” she said. “The doctors kept saying to me, ‘You have been very lucky here.’”

The broadcaster urged people to seek immediate help if they develop symptoms like a rapid rise in temperature or uncontrolled shivering.

“It really is the difference between it being life or death in some instances,” she said.

Sepsis symptoms also include a high heart rate or weak pulse; confusion or disorientation; shortness of breath; extreme pain or discomfort; and clammy or sweaty skin, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

On Monday, McMullen said in a tweet: “Thank you everyone for the kind well wishes. Very glad to be back to work, back in the studio and back to business.”

Why Norm Macdonald was left out of Emmys’s ‘In Memoriam’ segment

Late comedian Norm Macdonald. (Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images for Comedy Central)

Norm Macdonald was not part of the traditional “In Memoriam” segment Monday at the Emmys, even though he was shown just before it, when his posthumous comedy special, Norm Macdonald: Nothing Special, was recognized as a nominee in the category of variety special.

And people on social media quickly noticed it.

To which others correctly pointed out that Macdonald was actually featured in last year’s show. An image of Macdonald sitting at Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” desk played just before the end of the package, as Jon Batiste and Leon Bridges performed Bridges’s song “River.”

Macdonald died Sept. 14, 2021, after struggling with cancer for almost a decade. He had chosen to keep his diagnosis private. The Emmys were held five days later, on Sept. 19.

However, Macdonald’s special, which was up for three awards total this year, was released in May 2022, making it eligible for the competition. It was Macdonald doing a run-through of a set that he planned to record later in front of a live audience, but never had the chance to do.

On this year’s show, John Legend gave a moving rendition of his song “Pieces,” as images of Betty White, Nichelle Nichols, Bob Saget, Sidney Poitier, Anne Heche and many others flashed on a screen.

But there were some notable names that were not included, as is often the case. Among them were Friends actor James Michael Tyler, Goliath actor William Hurt and Meat Loaf, who was primarily known as a musician but appeared in many shows over the years, including Glee and Elementary.

The Television Academy keeps a database of “the men and women who were included in the televised ‘In Memoriam’ segment, as well as many others who were not” on its website.

Remote work shift made new business travel segment

American Express expects remote workers to create new demand for business travel, CEO Steve Squeri told CNBC’s Jim Cramer on Wednesday.

“You’re going to have, I believe, a lot more internal travel where colleagues and employees will come into the headquarters to be with their team for a few days. And they may do that multiple times a year. So I think that part of business travel will be a new piece.” Squeri said in an interview on “Mad Money.”

Travel has recovered faster than expected this year, which major airlines expect will help offset higher costs in things like jet fuel. Travelers spent $6.6 billion on airline tickets last month on carriers’ websites, according to Adobe.

Squeri said that American Express has seen growth in leisure travel over the last few months.

“We’re at 80% overall [travel and expenses] in the fourth quarter with consumer over 100% from 2019 levels. When we look at our travel bookings, our travel bookings were up in December … and that has sequentially grown in January and in February,” he said, adding that the numbers only encompass consumer travel.

Squeri said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has “not really” affected travel volumes for American Express.

The payments company announced it was suspending business in Russia on March 6, becoming one of the hundreds of other companies who also pledged to suspend or curtail business in the country.

Aiming The Gaming & Visual Cloud-Based Segment With a Focus on AI & Superior Performance

Last week, Raja Koduri went to Twitter to explain Intel’s intent to discontinue the focus on Intel Xe-HP and implement that technology to the newer Intel Xe-HPG GPUs, a newer and more focused ecosystem that they have a five-year plan of growth for developments in AI, gaming and visual cloud-based technology, and higher optimization and performance. This was surprising to a large audience due to the amount of time spent on discussing Intel Xe-HP publicly.

Intel Focuses Its Xe-HPG At The Gaming & Visual Cloud / AI Inference GPU Segment After Xe-HP’s Cancellation

Intel’s Xe-HP GPU was originally announced during the middle of 2020, advertised as a “multi-tile graphics series designed for data centers, with the main purpose as media super-computer accelerators.” Intel has even gone as far as creating three separate offerings with between “1 to 4 tiles.” It will now help Intel for utilizing the Intel Xe-HPs for their own in-house cloud servers.

Honor of Kings: World is an Action RPG Announced by Tencent Games

Koduri went on to further explain that Xe-HP GPU would help develop the “ecosystem for Ponte Vecchio’s architecture.” As far as product lines go, the Xe-HPG lines will replace Xe-HP, adding “AI interference and visual cloud” technology, which was the original intent of Xe-HP.

It is speculated that, due to the focus of Intel Xe-HPG on media in terms of analytics, processing, immersion, and cloud technology, such as cloud gaming and cloud graphics, that Intel is beginning to compete with GeForce NOW, Google Stadia, or Amazon Luna.

What is interesting to note, however, is the usage of media conversion servers/video content providers. Intel was one of the largest hardware providers for the last World Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. Intel’s Xeon servers were the primary utilization to help stream an unbelievable 8K 60fps HDR video that was transferred and implemented directly to the cloud to televisions everywhere. Even though a large group of consumers was unable to access the full resolution capabilities of the signal, the fact that this technology is now available is proof that we have evolved yet again to what is possible.

Lastly, Koduri also discussed Intel Xe-HPG is planned to support high-end applications such as 3DS Max, extending their Xe-HPG to the high-end workstation sections. It could be implied at some point that the Xe-HPG microarchitecture will be accessible for to up to three different markets, just as the same as their competitors NVIDIA and AMD with their Ampere and RDNA2 architectures, respectably.

Smoke Detector Triggers Alarm in Russian Segment of the International Space Station

The International Space Station.
Image: ESA

An alarm went off on the International Space Station earlier this morning as cosmonauts woke up to the smell of smoke.

There’s never a dull moment on the ISS these days, whether it be mysterious air leaks, problematic small cracks, busted toilets and oxygen supply generators, or a new module stubbornly wanting to depart shortly after docking, causing the ISS to unexpectedly rotate by as much as 540 degrees.

The latest incident happened at 4:55 a.m. Moscow time, when a smoke detector was triggered in the Zvezda service module of the Russian segment, Roscosmos explained in a statement. The Zvezda module, in addition to hosting a portion of the station’s life support systems, provides living quarters for two crew members. BBC reports that the smell of smoke drifted as far as the U.S. segment.

Roscosmos says the appearance of smoke coincided with the autonomous recharging of the station’s batteries. An air filter was switched on to eliminate the “smoke pollution” and refresh the space station’s artificial atmosphere. Once the smoke was cleared, the ISS-65 crew continued their night in “rest mode,” the agency said. The main operational control group for the Russian segment said all systems are operating normally, and the air aboard the station “corresponds to the standard indicators.”

Roscosmos has not immediately responded to my request for more information, such as the cause of the smoke, the condition of the battery charger, and next possible steps.

Life on the station appears to have returned to normal. Oleg Novitsky and Pyotr Dubrov proceeded with their scheduled six-hour spacewalk today, as the cosmonauts continue to integrate the newly arrived Nauka module.

In an email, Jonathan McDowell, a researcher at Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, said incidents such as these are “very serious,” as they could lead to smoke inhalation or, worse, a full-blown fire (there’s lots of flammable material up there). He characterized the Russian response thusly: “So, ‘there was a burning smell, but we turned up the fans and the smell has gone away now, although we still don’t know what it was.” This response, said McDowell, “doesn’t fill me with intense confidence.”

McDowell reminded me of a historical incident aboard the Mir space station. A fire broke out on February 24, 1997, and it took the crew of six nearly 15 minutes to put out the “searing flame,” as NASA described it, which they did with fire extinguishers. NASA astronaut Jerry Linenger was aboard Mir at the time, and he described the incident in his memoir Off the Planet (via Universe Today):

As the fire spewed with angry intensity, sparks – resembling an entire box of sparklers ignited simultaneously – extended a foot or so beyond the flame’s furthest edge. Beyond the sparks, I saw what appeared to be melting wax splattering on the bulkhead opposite the blaze. But it was not melting max. It was molten metal. The fire was so hot that it was melting metal.

So yeah, fires aboard space stations are very bad. In that case, the fire started in Mir’s solid fuel oxygen generator, and the flames were put out before they could damage the station or injure the crew. The incident led to new policies and training measures to prevent a recurrence.

So while Roscosmos is quick to downplay today’s incident, what happened is clearly no joke. Hopefully more details will emerge in the coming days to confirm everything is truly okay and that the crew is safe.

More: Bizarre “bone” asteroid is even weirder than we imagined.
