Which ‘Massive Movie Star’ Did Jessica Simpson Secretly Date

Photo: Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Jessica Simpson released a blind item Amazon Original Story Wednesday, titled Movie Star: They Always Say They’re Single. In the short story, Simpson recounts briefly being the other woman with a “massive movie star” who was a childhood/teen crush. Simpson said the aforementioned movie star claimed to be single, only for Getty Images to narc on him. “I was never ever in a million years going to be the other woman,” she wrote. The man alleged that he and the gf were “completely over,” which mollified Simpson for a while. Eventually, Simpson felt objectified and demeaned by the star, leaving him because she “didn’t care if he was my teenage fantasy come to life, this was not a choice that same girl, my younger self, would be proud of.” Good for her! But whomst is this star? What of his lied-to girlfriend? Let’s try and figure out this blind. Here are the clues:

➽ The man was already famous when Simpson was a teenager.
➽ Simpson writes that she first met the movie idol at J.Lo’s 2001 VMAs after-party. She and Nick Lachey were on a break, and this man was “undressing [her] with his eyes.”
➽ After the Newlyweds stars broke up for good in 2006, Simpson made out with this unnamed superstar at the Beverly Hills Hotel while he was preparing for a big award show.
➽ Simpson said the star spoke to his spiritual advisor about her. “He says having sex brings you closer to God,” he allegedly said.
➽ He said he was single, but a red carpet photo proved that to be untrue.
➽ The movie star invited her to the set of a project directed by someone “known to even the most casual movie fan.”

Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter Riley Keough secretly welcomed baby girl

Riley Keough and her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, have welcomed a daughter, a rep for the actress confirmed to Page Six.

Smith-Petersen alluded to the surprising reveal while reading a letter from his wife at Lisa Marie Presley’s memorial at Graceland on Sunday.

“Thank you for showing me love is the only thing that matters in this life. I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters,” the letter from Keough to her late mom read in part.

“Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity. I’m a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart.”

Smith-Petersen, who wed Keough in 2015, didn’t elaborate further on when their daughter was born, or reveal her name.

The little one was the grandchild of Lisa Marie, who sadly died last week at the age of 54.

Riley Keough is officially a mom, a rep for the actress confirmed to Page Six on Sunday.

The rock ’n’ roll heiress – the only child of the late Elvis Presley and his wife, Priscilla Presley – died on Jan. 12 after suffering cardiac arrest.

In addition to Riley, Lisa Marie was also the mother to twin daughters, Finley and Harper Lockwood, 14, along with son Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in July 2020. He was 27.

This marks Riley and husband Ben Smith-Petersen’s first child together.

Riley, who was slated to speak at the memorial, sat in the front row while her husband read the heartwarming letter aloud on her behalf.

“I remember you giving me baths as a baby, driving me in my car seat listening to Aretha Franklin … taking me for ice cream after school in Florida,” she recalled.

“I remember you singing to me and my brother lullabies at night, and how you’d lay with us until we fell asleep.”

Lisa Marie is survived by her three daughters.

The message continued, “I remember how it felt be loved by the most loving mother I’ve ever known. How safe it felt to be in your arms: I remember that feeling as a child and I remember it two weeks ago on your couch.”

Riley first addressed her mom’s passing in an Instagram post last week.

The couple didn’t reveal when their daughter was born.

The “Daisy Jones & The Six” star shared a throwback photo of herself holding flowers while looking up at her mom. She captioned the post simply with a red heart emoji.

Among the hundreds of mourners at the public service in Memphis on Sunday were the late icon’s pal Sarah Ferguson, along with singers Alanis Morissette and Axl Rose.

Food fraud secretly infiltrates America. Here’s how you can avoid it

The food in your kitchen cabinets may not be what it seems.

“I guarantee you any time a product can be passed off as something more expensive, it will be. It’s that simple,” Larry Olmsted, author of “Real Food/Fake Food,” told CNBC.

Fraudsters motivated by economic gain secretly infiltrate the global food market through a variety of means, including counterfeits, dilutions, substitution and mislabeling.

This not only harms consumers’ wallets, but it also puts public health and safety at risk.

Some estimates say food fraud affects at least 1% of the global food industry at a cost as high as $40 billion a year, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

“We might not know the overall impact of food fraud because so much of what fraudsters do is hidden from us and has been for centuries.” Kristie Laurvick, senior manager of the foods program at the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention, told CNBC.

Even the FDA says it can’t estimate how often this fraud happens or its economic impact.

“Be aware of the product that you put on you or plug in the wall,” John Spink, director of the Food Fraud Prevention Think Tank, told CNBC.

Between 2012 and 2021, the most common type food fraud was lying about an animal’s origin and dilution or substitution, both ranking at 16% of recorded incidents by food-safety monitor Food Chain ID.

For example, dilution could entail adding a cheaper vegetable oil to an expensive extra virgin olive oil.

“If I drink scotch, I couldn’t tell you [the] difference between a $50 bottle and a $5,000 bottle. So, I know I could be deceived at that point,” Spink said.

The Food Fraud Prevention Think Tank suggests five questions a consumer can ask themselves to reduce their vulnerability to product fraud.

  1. What type of product is it? Take extra caution with any product that you put on your body, ingest or plug in the wall.
  2. Can you recognize the difference between products?
  3. Do you know the retailer or supplier? Do you trust them?
  4. Are you shopping online? If so, did you find the online supplier from a reliable source?
  5. Complain. Is the supplier legitimate? If so, they will want to know.

Watch the video above to learn more about the different types of food fraud, how the industry is preventing risk, what consumers can do and where fraud in the olive oil, spices and seafood markets may be lurking.
