Jennifer Lopez reveals ‘scary’ near-death experience that occurred during Shotgun Wedding shoot

Jennifer Lopez is sharing about a scary situation that occurred while filming her new film Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic.

While out promoting the rom-com with six of her co-stars, including onscreen love interest Josh Duhamel, Lopez admitted to having a near-death experience when she nearly went over a cliff.

It turns out Duhamel, who was in the scene with Lopez, came to her rescue by holding on to the leading lady for dear life as to save her from the fall.

Scary: Jennifer Lopez, 53, revealed she had a near-death experience during the shoot for her new film Shotgun Wedding, where co-star Josh Duhamel, 50, saved her from falling over a cliff

The terrifying story came up when the cast sat down for a game of ‘Who’s Who’ at BuzzFeed, during which they revealed which of them were most deserving of certain titles.

After several minutes, the group listed Lopez and Duhamel as ‘most likely to nail a stunt on the first take.’

‘Me and Josh got pretty good at it,’ the Bronx, New York native, 53, declared, for which her co-lead confessed, ‘l don’t think I’ve ever nailed anything on the first take.’

‘Really, I felt like we did pretty good,’ JLo shot back in the on-screen couples defense, adding, ‘Especially when we were handcuffed together and we had to do all that crazy stuff. Except for the one time when I almost went over the cliff,’ which peaked the interest of her cast mates who asked her to tell the complete story.

During the promotion for the romantic action comedy, Lopez revealed how she nearly fell over a cliff during the scene ‘when my dress gets caught in the wheel’

Directing her story to her castmates, JLo revealed the freak accident happened ‘when my dress gets caught in the wheel’ during one pivotal scene.

‘I was going over! And I’m looking at Josh, and I’m like, “Josh, don’t let me go, please,” she added, as she demonstrated the scenario by sticking her hand out for Duhamel.

‘He’s like, “I got you. You go we go,” she recalled.

Luckily, they both made it through. ‘It was scary as f**k,’ Lopez admitted.

Another scary scenario: During another promotional interview by himself, Duhamel revealed he had a near-death incident of his own during a shoot break in the Dominican Republic

During another promotional interview by himself, Duhamel revealed he had a near-death incident of his own during a shoot break in the Dominican Republic.

‘I had some time off. There was this cove near where we were shooting and the waves were just like amazing, crashing up against the cliffs,’ the actor, 50, told Access Hollywood’s Zuri Hall. ‘I wanted to go get a video and a rogue wave comes in and almost takes me out over the cliff.’

Duhamel thinks the jagged rocks in the area where he was at the time held him ‘from going into the water’ and ultimately over the cliff.

‘I figured I was completely safe and all of a sudden bam,’ he explained, while using his hands to describe the impact on his face.

Shotgun Wedding, which also stars Sônia Braga, Jennifer Coolidge, Lenny Kravitz, Cheech Marin and D’Arcy Carden, among others, premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 27.

Woman shot in head during Takeoff killing compares incident to ‘scary movie’

  • The woman shot in the head during the same shooting in which Takeoff was killed has broken her silence.
  • “It was like a scary movie,” said Sydney Leday, 24.
  • Leday was left in a coma and in hospital for a week as a result of her injuries.

A woman who was shot in the head during the same shooting in which rapper Takeoff was killed has said it is a “miracle” she is still alive.

Takeoff, full name Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed outside a bowling alley in Houston, Texas, in the early hours of November 1. He was 28 years old.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an argument over a “lucrative dice game” in which the rapper was not involved and that he was an “innocent bystander.”

Sydney Leday, another bystander, was also shot as she fled the scene. The 24-year-old was left in a coma for a week due to her injuries.

A tearful Leday broke her silence about the incident.

“Like any other 24-year-old, I was just out partying and celebrating,” she told Houston news outlet KHOU 11 last week. “I felt the sting in the back of my head. I felt myself falling.”

Leday said after hitting the floor, she was picked up by the person she was with and driven straight to the hospital.

“It was like a scary movie, really,” she continued. “Ironically, it was Halloween night. I had on a nun outfit. I had blood all over me.

“I was just grateful that I did [survive] because of the place that it hit in my head. I just feel like it was a miracle.”

In December, Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, was charged with murder in connection to Takeoff’s death, while Cameron Joshua, 22, was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon. As of now, there have been no charges filed directly in connection with Leday’s shooting.

Clark has since been released on a $1 million bond but is due to appear in court again in March.

Derek Hough and fiancé Hayley Erbert involved in ‘scary’ car crash earlier this month

Derek Hough and his fiancé Hayley Erbert have revealed that they were in a ‘scary’ car crash earlier this month.

The Dancing with the Stars couple – who tragically lost their close friend Stephen ‘TWitch’ Boss to suicide this month – shared the frightening details of their ordeal on Instagram.

Hough, 37, and Erbert, 28, posted a video to their Instagram accounts on Friday that thoroughly documented their accident.

Scary: Derek Hough, 37, and his fiancé Hayley Erbert, 28, have revealed that they were in a ‘scary’ car crash earlier this month; pictured at the Rose Bowl in September 2020

‘On December 12, Derek and I got into a pretty scary car accident in the mountains,’ wrote Hayley, captioning the pair’s video post.

She went on to describe the terrifying elements of their crash: ‘Our accident involved a steep hill, icy roads, a tree, and worst of all, the fear that we would slide off the mountain.’

‘The scariest part was that Hayley doesn’t remember anything,’ Derek shared in the comments section. ‘She was dazed afterwards, being cheerful saying we should keep going to dinner as blood ran down her face.’

‘That really scared me,’ wrote Hough. ‘She came to 20 minutes later when the firemen arrived.’

Grateful: ‘We have so much to be grateful for,’ Hayley wrote in her caption. She went on to state that there were ‘no other people involved.’ Derek wrote in the comments section that ‘Hayley doesn’t remember anything’

Frightening: Hayley’s caption detailed the terrifying elements of their crash: ‘Our accident involved a steep hill, icy roads, a tree, and worst of all, the fear that we would slide off the mountain’

They’re okay: Erbert’s caption confirmed that they were ‘both okay’ and that she only ‘walked away a little banged up [with] a swollen face, and four stitches above my eyebrow’

The couple’s video begins with a jolting montage of a fire engine, Hayley’s injured face, their car crashed against a tree at night, and an ominous view of a foggy highway.

‘What do you do after you get in a car accident?’ asks Derek from behind the camera as he films Hailey recovering at home on their couch. ‘You go to the emergency room.’

Hayley tells of how she received stitches and that there was ‘nowhere to eat,’ so the couple went to the grocery store and got ‘tons of snacks.’

Their video proves this to be true as they show their lineup of junk food – pepperoni pizza, candy and chips.

‘One of the saddest things about tonight,’ Hayley says at the end of their video, ‘is that I can’t chew candy.’

Medical attention: Hayley thanked the paramedics in her caption for their ‘quick response’

Post-crash treats: Erbert said there was ‘nowhere to eat,’ so the couple went to the grocery store and got ‘tons of snacks’

‘We have so much to be grateful for,’ Hayley wrote in her caption. ‘First, that there were no other people involved. Second, the quick response from paramedics.’

‘And lastly,’ she added, ‘that we are both okay and that I only walked away a little banged up, a swollen face, and four stitches above my eyebrow.

Concluding her caption, Hayley wrote: ‘Now, more than ever, we realize how fragile life is and how important it is to love those around you. We hope that everyone has a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season. XO.’

The couple received an outpouring of love and support in their comments section, specifically from their Dancing with the Stars family.

‘Omg!’ commented DWTS dancer Cheryl Burke. ‘Thank God you’re both okay.’

‘I’m so glad you are safe,’ wrote DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba. ‘That’s so scary!’

Derek and Hayley got engaged in June after seven years of dating and their upcoming nuptials will have Michael Bublé as the wedding singer.

Opinion: This record number in Nvidia earnings is a scary sight

Nvidia Corp.’s financial results had a bit of a surprise for investors, and not on the good side — product inventories doubled to a record high as the chip company gears up for a questionable holiday season.

Nvidia reported fiscal third-quarter revenue that was slightly better than analysts’ reduced expectations Wednesday, but the numbers weren’t that great. Revenue fell 17% to $5.9 billion, while earnings were cut in half thanks to a $702 million inventory charge, largely relating to slower data-center demand in China.

Gaming revenue in the quarter fell 51% to $1.57 billion. Nvidia said it is working with its retail partners to help move the currently high-channel inventories.

While the company was writing off the inventory for China, its own new product inventory was growing. Nvidia
NVDA,
-4.54%
reported that its overall product inventory nearly doubled to $4.45 billion in the fiscal third quarter, compared with $2.23 billion a year ago and $3.89 billion in the prior quarter. Executives cited its coming product launches, designed around its new Ada and Hopper architectures, when asked about the inventory gains.

In the semiconductor industry, high inventories can make investors nervous, especially after the industry had so many supply constraints in recent years that quickly swung to a glut of chips in 2022. With doubts about demand for gaming cards and consumers’ willingness to spend amid sky-high inflation this holiday season, having all that product on hand just amps up the nerves.

Full earnings coverage: Nvidia profit chopped in half, but tweaked servers to China offset earlier $400 million warning

Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress told MarketWatch in a telephone interview Wednesday that the company’s high level of inventories were commensurate with its high levels of revenue.

“I do believe….it is our highest level of inventory,” she said. “They go hand in hand.” Kress said she was confident in the success of Nvidia’s upcoming product launches.

Nvidia’s revenue reached a peak in the April 2022 quarter with $8.3 billion, and in the past two quarters revenue has slowed, with gaming demand sluggish amid a transition to a new cycle, and a decline in China data-center demand due to COVID-19 lockdowns and U.S. government restrictions.

For its data-center customers, the new architectures promise major advances in computing power and artificial-intelligence features, with Nvidia planning to ship the equivalent of a supercomputer in a box with its new products over the next year. Those types of advanced products weigh on inventory totals even more, Kress said, because of the price of the total package.

“It’s about the complexity of the system we are building, that is what drives the inventory, the pieces of that together,” Kress said.

Bernstein Research analyst Stacy Rasgon believes that products based on Hopper will begin shipping over the next several quarters, “at materially higher price points.” He said in a recent note that he believes Nvidia’s numbers were likely hitting a bottom in this quarter.

“We remain positive on the Hopper ramp into next year, and believe numbers have at this point likely reached close to bottom, with new cycles brewing and an attractive secular story even without China potential,” Rasgon said in an earnings preview note Tuesday.

Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang reminded investors on a conference call that the company’s inventories are “never zero,” and said everyone is enthusiastic about the upcoming launches. But it doesn’t take too long of a memory to conjure up a time when Nvidia went into a holiday with an inventory backlog that included new architecture and greatly disappointed investors: Four years ago, Huang had to cut his forecast for holiday earnings twice amid a “crypto hangover” with similar dynamics to the current moment

Investors need faith that this holiday season will not be the same, even as demand for some videogame products declines after a pandemic boom just as the market for cryptocurrency — some of which has been mined with Nvidia products — hits a rough patch. Huang said that Nvidia’s RTX 4080 and 4090 graphics cards based on the Ada Lovelace architecture had an “exceptional launch,” and sold out.

Nvidia shares gained more than 2% in after-hours trading Wednesday, suggesting that some are betting that this time will be different. That enthusiasm needs to translate into revenue for Nvidia so that this big gain in inventories does not end up being part of another write-down at some point in the future.
