Rapper DMX off life support following heart attack: lawyer

DMX remained on life support Saturday afternoon at a Westchester hospital after suffering a heart attack, his lawyer told Page Six.

The 50-year-old “X Gon Give It to Ya” rapper was taken to White Plains Hospital around 11 p.m. Friday from his nearby home, and initially placed on a ventilator, attorney Murray Richman said.

“He was taken off life support around 3 p.m.,” Richman said. “At the moment, he’s breathing on his own. A lot of people are gathering at the hospital.”

DMX’s first wife and at least some of his 15 children are at the hospital with him, the attorney said.

The lawyer could not confirm a TMZ report that the rapper, who was born Earl Simmons, suffered the heart attack after an apparent overdose.

“I refuse to vouch for that because I have no personal knowledge,” the lawyer said.

The grave news about the “Where the Hood At” rapper sparked an outpouring across social media, where celebrities asked for prayers for the Mount Vernon native who grew up in Yonkers.

WHITE PLAINS, New York — Rapper DMX is on life support in a New York hospital and in grave condition, according to his family.

DMX’s attorney, Murray Richman, said the hip hop artist, whose real name is Earl Simmons, had a heart attack.

“I received a call this morning that Earl Simmons was in the hospital, at the White Plains Hospital, and that he had had a heart attack, and I’m not sure how it was induced and that he’s on life support,” Richman said.

Richman did not say if the rapper suffered an overdose, as has been reported by a number of outlets.
“I’ve spoken to the family and the family and I are quite close with each other. I am concerned about his well-being and mindful of his significance. I have known Earl for over 25 years and I believe that his music is quite poignant, very important. He’s truly a poet of our time,” Richman said.

Richman said Simmons had been in the midst of making a movie.

Rapper reportedly chops off roommate’s penis for video views

A Spanish rapper is accused of hacking off his roommate’s penis with a 12-inch kitchen knife as part of a gruesome attempt to get attention on social media, according to reports.

Aaron Beltran allegedly made a deal with Andrew Breach, an Oxford-educated British teacher, to amputate his manhood — with Breach agreeing to pay a fee depending on how many times the video was shared on YouTube, the Independent reported.

The payout ranged from £173, or about $240, to a maximum of £2,164, or about $3,000, according to the report.

Beltran now faces four and a half years behind bars if convicted of carrying out the grisly act in Zaragoza, Spain, in March 2019, the newspaper said.

“On the afternoon of March 8, just before 7:15 p.m. when both men were in the victim’s bedroom, Andrew tied his pajama cord round the bottom of his penis to avoid hemorrhaging,” the indictment reads, the Sun reported.

“The accused, who was sat on a chair in front of him, cut his penis with a 12-inch kitchen knife which was never found because the accused got rid of it.”

A police officer told the court in eastern Spain that he found Breach, 35, who taught at a local language academy, bleeding heavily after the gory stunt.

Another officer said Breach had wanted to sever his penis because he did not feel like he was completely male.

Prosecutors say the amputation was consensual but argue that Beltran still bears criminal responsibility.

“When interviewing the victim in hospital he told us the accused cut off his penis. Andrew said he did not feel 100 percent a man and wanted to get rid of his penis,” the cop told the court.

“He agreed on a deal with the accused to pay him €200 which would depend on how many views the video of the amputation received on YouTube. It was done on the basis of hits,” the cop added.

Surgeons managed to reattach the penis, which is now fully functional, according to the Independent.

Breach spent three weeks in the hospital and then returned to the UK.

Prosecutors admit the amputation was consensual but argue that Beltran still bears criminal responsibility.

Meanwhile, Breach claimed in court he had cut off his own penis, contradicting his sworn statement that Beltran was responsible.

“I cut off my own penis. I was unwell. It was myself,” he said, adding that he had felt pressure from police to blame his roommate. Police denied his claim.

Prosecutors have accepted that Breach suffers from gender dysphoria, the outlet reported.

Local reports around the time of the amputation said the two men drank four bottles of wine and took Valium to gather the courage to go through with it, the Sun reported.

Beltran, who spent four months in prison before being released on bail, goes by the artistic name Sanatorio del Atico — or Attic Sanatorium.

Bobby Shmurda is gearing up for his release from prison — and, thanks to fellow rapper Quavo, he’s already secured a ride home.

In an interview with Billboard published Monday, the Migos member, whose real name is Quavious Keyate Marshall, revealed he’ll be picking up Shmurda from prison, following his release on Tuesday.

“I’m going to get my guy,” said Quavo. “I’m personally gonna go pick up Bobby Shmurda. I’m bout to go get him. I’m gonna let him show you how I’m gonna pick him up, yessir.”

And according to Quavo, the viral hip-hop sensation is already looking forward to his return to music.

“It’s gonna be big,” he said.

In 2016, Shmurda, a rapper once on the rise thanks to a viral 2014 music video that popularized the “Shmoney dance,” was sentenced to seven years in prison after a guilty plea on charges he conspired with a violent drug gang (a plea he claimed he was railroaded into taking). According to Billboard and NPR, he is set for a conditional release from New York prison on Tuesday.

Shmurda thanked his fans “for remaining loyal” throughout his sentence in a message posted on his Instagram Story Monday.

“I love you all and look forward to seeing you all soon,” he added. The rapper also posted a scene from the movie “King of New York” on Instagram Monday and wrote, “How the (expletive) y’all forget about me”

The 26-year-old Shmurda, whose birth name is Ackquille Pollard, is best known for “Hot Boy,” a gritty hit song with rhymes about gunplay. He and Chad “Rowdy Rebel” Marshall — another hip-hop artist who also pleaded guilty in the same case — gained notoriety with their performance in the “Shmoney Dance” video, which has about 29 million YouTube views as of Monday.

Authorities arrested Shmurda in late 2014 after he left a recording studio near Radio City Music Hall, only days after he performed “Hot Boy” for a national television audience on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Investigators found two handguns and a small amount of crack cocaine in a car in which he was riding, authorities said.

An indictment charged Shmurda and more than 15 defendants with a variety of crimes including murder, attempted murder, assault and drug dealing. Shootings by the gang left one rival dead, injured an innocent bystander sitting on a folding chair outside a Brooklyn home and caused pandemonium outside a nightclub in Miami Beach, Florida, authorities said.

The court papers alleged that Shmurda once fired a gun toward a crowd of people outside a barbershop in Brooklyn. They also said he was present during a 2015 confrontation between rival drug gangs outside a Brooklyn courthouse where shots were fired.

The 23-year-old, whose real name is Ricky Lamar Hawk, was arrested Monday after police investigated the death of his 34-year-old cousin, Frederick Rooks, according to a statement from the DeKalb County Police Department.

Police responded to a call about a shooting on January 21 and found Rooks with multiple gunshot wounds lying on a road in the Atlanta area suburb of Panthersville, according to an incident report from DeKalb County police. Rooks was pronounced dead at the scene, the report stated.

Security camera footage from nearby homes captured at least one gun shot before several vehicles fled the scene at high speeds, according to the report.

Police said in a statement that Silentó was later identified as a suspect.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.

Silentó was booked into jail on Monday and is currently being held there on a murder charge, jail records show. Authorities charged him with felony murder.

CNN has reached out to representatives for Silentó.

Silentó has faced several run-ins with the law in recent months.
Last October, the rapper was arrested in Atlanta after driving 143 mph in a 65-mph zone, according to a DeKalb County Police Department incident report. He was given citations for reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane and improper stopping, jail records show. The charges are still pending, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
He was also charged in September in Los Angeles with threatening two people with a hatchet. Prosecutors said that he reportedly walked into a stranger’s unlocked home on August 29 and attempted to hit two people with a hatchet before one of them disarmed him. Silentó pleaded not guilty, and the case is still pending, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
