Omaha Target shooting suspect seen on camera wielding AR-15-style rifle police say he purchased 4 days before

Police in Omaha, Nebraska, Wednesday released new images showing the man who allegedly opened fire using an AR-15-style rifle inside a Target store, sending shoppers running for cover until he was ultimately shot and killed by a responding officer.

The suspect, identified as Joseph Jones, 32, of suburban Omaha, purchased the rifle at Cabela’s sporting goods store just four days before Tuesday’s incident at the Target located at 17810 West Center Road, the Omaha Police Department said in a statement on Wednesday.

Jones is accused of entering the store around noon Tuesday, when police said he fired several rounds, sending shoppers and workers scrambling for exits and cowering in bathroom stalls. Along with the rifle, he allegedly had 13 loaded rifle magazines of ammunition.

Callers flooded 911 dispatchers with around 30 calls for help, and Omaha police officers and a Nebraska State Trooper rushed to the scene. They quickly encountered Jones and ordered him to drop the rifle.

Police said Officer Brian Vanderheiden, a 20-year veteran of the city’s police force, then fired, striking and killing Jones. No one else was hurt.

The police department said Wednesday that Vanderheiden was placed on paid administrative leave per department policy.

Omaha police released several stills from a video showing Jones, wearing a baseball cap, tan or orange sweatshirt, black pants and glasses, standing outside the store with rifle in hand. Other images show the armed Jones walking into the store and past aisles. He takes off his coat and drops it to the ground, police said.

Police have not yet released a timeline showing how long Jones was in the store before officers responded, but Omaha Police Lt. Neal Bonacci told The Associated Press they are working on one.

After the shooting, officers searched the store three times before declaring the scene safe, according to police. Through the investigation, officers found bullet casings inside the store.

Bonacci said police are talking to Jones’ family as they look for a motive, but he added, “I don’t know that we’ll ever necessarily know.”

Jones’ uncle, Larry Derksen Jr., said his nephew had schizophrenia and that his mental illness left him isolated.

“My nephew went into Target. I believe he had no intention of hurting anybody. He fired off a bunch of rounds,” Derksen told KETV-TV. “He had an AR-15 before law enforcement got there. If he had any intention of killing anybody, he would have. He would have had time to do so.”

Police say Joseph Jones dropped his jacket in the Target store at 17810 West Center Road in Omaha, Nebraska.

Derksen told KETV that “this was predictable” and that his nephew should never have had a gun.

The AP reported that court records show Jones had no prior felony convictions in Douglas County, where Omaha is located. He also had no prior, documented contact with the city’s police, records show.

Several other shootings have taken place at stores across the country in recent months.

In January, one woman was injured in a shooting at a Walmart store in Evansville, Indiana. Police said it could have been much worse if not for heroic actions by an employee and the police. Officers arrived within minutes and fatally shot the gunman.

Omaha police said Officer Brian Vanderheiden shot and killed Joseph Jones. Vanderheiden has served the Omaha Police Department for 20 years. He has been placed on paid administrative leave per department policy.

A Walmart manager in Chesapeake, Virginia, killed six people in November when he began shooting wildly inside a break room. Six others were wounded. The gunman shot and killed himself before officers arrived.

‘Kim Kardashian has purchased’ memes sweep social media after Princess Diana necklace purchase

Kim Kardashian has been at the center of the latest viral meme after purchasing an iconic cross necklace previously worn by Princess Diana for $197,000.

The 42-year-old mogul has been trending on social media over a cornucopia of memes on Twitter which begin ”Kim Kardashian has purchased.’

One of the more hilarious posts involved Hilaria Baldwin’s fake heritage scandal from 2021 as it read: ‘Kim Kardashian has purchased Hilaria Baldwin’s fake Spanish accent for $97,600.’

Breaking the internet once again: Kim Kardashian has been at the center of the latest viral meme

This comes days after she purchased an iconic cross necklace previously worn by Princess Diana for $197,000. Diana is seen wearing it in 1987

Back in 2021, several of 39-year-old Hilaria’s former classmates came forward to confirm that she was raised in Weston, Massachusetts, by American parents without a hint of a foreign accent.

The woman who first exposed the fraud, later told The New York Times that it was an ‘open secret’ in Manhattan that Hilaria had faked her heritage, and that she and her friends, ‘bored’ from the pandemic, decided finally to expose the secret.

In the next few days several videos of Hilaria’s past TV appearances resurfaced showing her commitment to a Spanish accent.

One of the more hilarious posts involved Hilaria Baldwin’s fake heritage scandal from 2021 as it read: ‘Kim Kardashian has purchased Hilaria Baldwin’s fake Spanish accent for $97,600’

Back in 2021, several of 39-year-old Hilaria’s former classmates came forward to confirm that she was raised in Weston, Massachusetts, by American parents without a hint of a foreign accent, she is pictured in New York on Friday

Better days: The woman who first exposed the fraud, later told The New York Times that it was an ‘open secret’ in Manhattan that Hilaria had faked her heritage, and that she and her friends, ‘bored’ from the pandemic, decided finally to expose the secret, Hilaria is pictured with husband Alec Baldwin last month

In one now infamous Today Show video that surfaced, Hilaria appeared to forget the English word for cucumber.

After her American heritage was exposed, Hilaria apologized and said she ‘should have been more clear’ about her connection to the Spanish culture.

Another funny meme was Game Of Thrones related as it had to do with the character potrayed by Milly Alcock and Emma D’Arcy.

It read: ‘Kim Kardashian has purchased Rhaenyra Targaryens Crown for $500k, TMZ reports.’

There were several other memes which hit the internet including references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Loki, Nicki Minaj, Lord Of The Rings, and even other memes like the ‘blue or white dress’ debate which swept the world in 2015.

Just days ago it was reported that the reality star had  bought the beloved purple amethyst-and-diamond-encrusted Attallah cross pendant during an auction held by Sotheby’s on Wednesday. The UK-based company confirmed the sale to DailyMail.com.

A source close to the SKIMS founder revealed that Kim is ‘honored to be able to own a fine piece of jewelry once worn by the late princess’ and to add to her growing collection of historic memorabilia worn by ‘strong, iconic women who have inspired Kim.’

‘Diana was a woman of incredible style, beauty, and grace. Kim is honored to be able to own a fine piece of jewelry once worn by the late princess,’ the insider told DailyMail.com.

Days ago the reality star, 42, bought the beloved purple amethyst-and-diamond-encrusted Attallah cross pendant during an auction held by Sotheby ‘s on Wednesday

The cross pendant was made in 1920 by the jewelry company Garrard. According to Vogue, Diana was friends with the man who owned it, businessman Naim Attallah, who loaned it to her

‘This beautiful cross pendant will be added to her growing collection of jewelry, all pieces that have been worn by strong, iconic women who have inspired Kim.’

The Princess of Wales famously wore the glittery piece of jewelry during a London charity gala in October 1987. She paired the lavish necklace with a black and burgundy long-sleeved velvet gown, which came with a ruffled neckpiece

The late Princess of Wales, who often made headlines for her bold fashion choices before she tragically passed away in a car accident in 1997, famously wore the glittery piece of jewelry during a London charity gala in October 1987.

She paired the lavish necklace with a black and burgundy long-sleeved velvet gown, which came with a ruffled neckpiece – and between the flashy pendant and the stylish dress, the Princess dazzled at the event.

The enormous cross pendant was made in 1920 by the jewelry company Garrard, and according to Vogue, Diana was friends with the man who owned it, British businessman Naim Attallah. The mogul, who passed away in 2021, loaned it to her for the event.

‘Few people could carry this piece off but Diana really could,’ Naim’s son, Ramsay Attallah, told the outlet in December.

‘When I was growing up, we’d always have it on the table for Christmas lunch, but it was never worn by anyone other than Diana and it hasn’t been seen in public since she died.’

The ‘bold and colorful’ piece came with ‘square-cut amethysts and circular-cut diamonds’ – with a total diamond weight of approximately 5.25 carats.

It is now in possession of Kim, who seems to have a knack for buying clothing and jewelry that were previously owned by famous figures.

In 2011, she scooped up a set of Elizabeth Taylor’s bangles for $65,000, and in 2017, she paid $379,500 for Jackie O’s watch.

And while she wasn’t able to officially add it to her collection, the mother-of-four also wore Marilyn Monroe’s famous Happy Birthday Mr. President dress to the Met Gala last year

But Kim’s decision to wear the dress parked a slew of backlash from social media users, after it was rumored that she damaged the gown. It is seen with a torn sleeve after she wore it

And while she wasn’t able to officially add it to her collection because it belongs to a museum, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum also wore Marilyn Monroe’s famous Happy Birthday Mr. President dress to the Met Gala last year.

Diana’s ‘bold and colorful’ necklace comes with ‘square-cut amethysts and circular-cut diamonds’ – with a total diamond weight of approximately 5.25 carats

But Kim’s decision to wear the gown at the Anna Wintour-hosted ball sparked a slew of backlash from social media users, after it was rumored that she damaged the gown.

And now, her recent purchase has resulted in more furious fire from online users.

‘She has a weird obsession with dead people’s stuff,’ wrote one Twitter user.

‘She already ruined Marilyn’s dress and now she has Diana’s necklace… You will never be iconic, Kim Kardashian,’ said another.

‘Princess Diana looking down from Heaven, seeing that Kim Kardashian has bought her old jewels,’ someone else added, accompanied by a video of someone asking, ‘Who is this woman?’

A different user tweeted, ‘Kim Kardashian’s damage to fashion history is so disrespectful and gross.

‘And the people who keep selling her these items for profit instead of preserving them for history are no better.’

‘Can she just stop? I literally cannot stand her or her family. They are the epitome of privileged a**holes,’ a fifth tweet read.

Kim’s recent purchase has resulted in furious fire from online users.

‘Is she gonna open a museum of accessories and clothes of dead people that she’s desecrated?’ asked someone else.

‘The truth is that she’s nothing but a chameleon – doesn’t stand out on her own, only molds herself to what is currently popular/trendy,’ wrote another user.

‘That’s why she latches on to these iconic memorabilia from past stars. She has nothing but wealth and cheap tricks in her name.’

‘She can buy iconic items but she will never be an icon,’ read a different tweet.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Kim’s representative for comment.

‘Jewelry owned or worn by the late Princess Diana very rarely comes on to the market, especially a piece such as the Attallah cross, which is so colorful, bold, and distinctive,’ Kristian Spofforth, Head of Jewelery at Sotheby’s said in a statement before the sale.

‘To some extent, this unusual pendant is symbolic of the Princess’s growing self-assurance in her sartorial and jewelry choices, at that particular moment in her life.

‘We are confident that this unique 1920s piece of jewelry by Garrard, with such an exceptional provenance and only ever worn by the Princess herself, will attract the attention of a wide variety of bidders, including royal and noble jewelry collectors, as well as fans of the Princess keen to share part of her history.’

Twitter blue checks reportedly purchased by Taliban officials revoked

The verified “blue check” for senior Taliban officials on Twitter appears to have been revoked following media reports that they paid the social media site’s $8 monthly subscription fee for the verified status.

Two officials with the Taliban subscribed to the Twitter Blue service, a monthly service offered after new owner Elon Musk took over the social media platform, the New York Post reported.

The BBC reported earlier Tuesday that Taliban officials Abdul Haq Hammad, the top media official at the Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture, and Hedayatullah Hedayat, the head of the Taliban’s department for “access to information,” paid for the blue check.

Some Taliban supporters also acquired the blue check, though the symbol was not visible on their account pages. After the report, their verified status disappeared, the Post reported.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Twitter.

The Taliban, which took over Afghanistan in August 2021 following the withdrawal of American forces, has long used Twitter, though officials were never verified.

“Interestingly, Taliban praises Elon Musk for verifying their accounts and even they say Elon is originally Afghan, from Logar province. Congratulations Elon!” tweeted Tajuden Soroush, an Afghan journalist who lives in London.

Before Musk purchased Twitter in a $44 billion acquisition, check marks were given to certain accounts to verify their status as journalists, public figures, elected officials, celebrities and other prominent figures.

After the purchase, Musk introduced Twitter Blue, which allows users to pay $8 per month in exchange for a blue checkmark.

The move got off to a rough start as pranksters began creating accounts of political leaders and sports stars while posting incendiary tweets.

Sunday’s Bills-Browns game moved to Detroit, fans to receive ticket refunds purchased through the Bills or Ticketmaster

Bills EVP/COO Ron Raccuia and Bills GM Brandon Beane held a press conference via Zoom Thursday evening to discuss the change in location for Sunday’s game and other important topics including ticket info. Here is a summarized version of what Raccuia and Beane had to say.

Q: How was the decision reached to move the game to Detroit?

Raccuia: “The decision to move the game to Detroit has everything to do about safety. Safety first has been what we’ve been talking about here really for the last 48 to 72 hours. I do want to thank county executive Poloncarz, Governor Hochul, all of our elected officials, certainly (NFL) Commissioner (Rodger) Goodell and the entire league staff, and the lions organization for their commitment and communication and helping us move the game. As I said earlier, our sole concern was the safety of our players, our fans, our community, and making sure we did not divert any resources that the community will need coming this weekend.”

Q: Will tickets be refunded?

Raccuia: “We just actually put out an email to all the existing ticket holders for the game. So our fans will have a refund opportunity, depending on how they purchase their ticket. But I would ask them to check the emails that they should have received probably about five or 10 minutes ago actually. Those will all be refunded.”

Q: Are tickets transferrable for the game being played in Detroit?

Raccuia: “No transfer option. It’s really two separate transactions. Everyone’s tickets will automatically be credited depending on how they were purchased. So if they purchased on the Bills online, it’ll be credited that way, Ticketmaster, that way, season ticket members, directly to their season ticket account. And the new on-sale will be completely separate starting tomorrow. “

Q: What are the team travel plans?

Beane: We are going to try to keep a normal travel schedule. Obviously, we’re going to track the weather, but right now, we’re setting up a plane to leave sometime Saturday afternoon. We’re going to have to wait til we hear from the airline when they can get it here. But we would try to keep it as a close to our normal routine as possible. So right now, as long as the weather is what we anticipate for Sunday, we would fly back after the game. You know the game’s going to be at 1 so we can kind of have our normal routine and then fly back there on Wednesday.

Q: Any frustration about not having a home game?

Beane: Well, I’m counting on you to rally all the BillsMafia to show up. In all seriousness, we’re hoping for this to be still a home field advantage away. Luckily it’s not across the country. We know BillsMafia is all over, and hopefully those that are in Michigan area will definitely down. And hopefully the ones here that want to get out of the snow, will drive over there.

PlayStation Store removes purchased movies from libraries after service shutdown

Sony is removing access to hundreds of movies and TV shows on its PlayStation Store service next month, meaning users that previously paid for titles such as Paddington and The Hunger Games will no longer be able to watch them. The shutdown affects users in Germany and Austria, according to legal notices posted on the two regional sites, and covers films produced by StudioCanal.

The shutdown will come into force on August 31st, exactly one year after Sony discontinued movie and TV show purchases through its digital store. At the time Sony said that its customers will still be able to access previously purchased content. Notices posted on the PlayStation website blame “evolving license agreements with content providers” (via machine translation) for the change, and say that purchased content will be removed from customers’ video libraries.

According to Variety, the change affects 314 titles in Germany and 137 in Austria. Affected titles include Chicken Run, John Wick, La La Land, Logan Lucky, Saw, Shaun the Sheep Movie, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. It’s unclear whether refunds will be offered to affected customers.

While we’ve gotten used to the idea that TV shows and films can disappear from streaming services over time, leaving them inaccessible to subscribers, it’s much rarer to see it happen on services that let you buy titles to own digitally. That’s not to say it’s unheard of; when Flixster Video shut down Pocket-Lint reported that some titles weren’t compatible with the Google Play migration process that was meant to allow UK customers to continue to have access to them. Apple’s use of the word “buy” for digital titles that it reserves the right to revoke access to has even been challenged legally in the past.

The shutdown serves as a crucial reminder that even when you “buy” a title digitally, your ownership often still relies on a retailer continuing to exist, and having the correct licensing deals in place. If you want to guarantee ownership forever, then physical purchases are still your best bet — although not always.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are on the move amid ‘unconfirmed’ report they ‘purchased’ LA mansion

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have ‘moving trucks outside their homes’ amid report power couple ‘purchased’ LA mansion

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are rumored to have purchased a Beverly Hills mega-mansion worth $60 million after months of searching for their dream home in the Los Angeles area.

According to TMZ, one of Jennifer’s luxury vehicles was parked outside the massive estate on Thursday, along with a hoard of moving trucks.

The outlet also claimed that moving trucks were positioned outside of Jennifer and Ben’s respective LA homes, seemingly suggesting an impending move.

Have they found THE one? Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are rumored to have purchased a $60 million Beverly Hills mega-mansion after months of searching for their dream home in the Los Angeles area

Billionaire abode: Though it cannot be confirmed whether or not the engaged couple have officially snapped up a home for themselves, some details about the prospective Beverly Hills property have been unearthed. The mansion was most recently owned by Australian billionaire James Packer, who’s the former fiancé of Mariah Carey (Ben and Jennifer pictured in February)

Though it cannot be confirmed whether or not the engaged couple have finally snapped up a home to share, some details about the prospective Beverly Hills property have been unearthed.

The mansion was most recently owned by Australian billionaire James Packer, who’s the former fiancé of Mariah Carey. Other previous home owners include actors Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman.

It’s said to be a sprawling 14,000 square foot house, which would allow ample space for Jennifer and Ben’s blended brood.

Jennifer shares 13-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while the Good Will Hunting star shares daughters Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13 and son Samuel, 10, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

The massive estate is also said to have all the perks that two Hollywood heavyweights would want, including a proper movie theater, pool and a guest house.

It’s believed that Packer bought the property for around $60 million.

There’s a shroud of mystery surrounding this deal, considering the house was not listed for sale.

In fact, some real estate experts told TMZ that it hadn’t even been shown off market, with the exception potentially being Ben and Jen.

The couple have been spotted shopping for homes around the swanky areas of Los Angeles over the past several months.

Sprawling: It’s said to be a sprawling 14,000 square foot house that was previously owned by actors Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman

Some of the homes that peaked their interest were listed above the $85 million mark, so this deal seems to be well within the couple’s price range.

Ben and Jennifer’s relationship has progressed at lightning speed since they shocked fans by reuniting in May 2021 after 17 years apart.

Just two months later, they would confirm their rekindled romance as they began blending their families and stepping out publicly as a couple.

By April of 2022, they announced their second engagement, twenty years after the first proposal.

The so-called ‘Bennifer’ duo were among the Hollywood ‘It’ couples in the early 2000s after meeting on the set of the box office bomb, Gigli, in 2002.

Ben would go on to propose to the hitmaker but their engagement would come to an end by early 2004.

On the hunt: The couple have been spotted shopping for homes around the swanky areas of Los Angeles over the past several months; Jennifer and Ben seen in April

Kacey Musgraves reveals a peek into Nashville mansion she purchased after divorce from Ruston Kelly

Kacey Musgraves opened the doors to the peaceful Nashville sanctuary she purchased following her divorce from musician Ruston Kelly in 2020 and gave a tour to Architectural Digest.

The 33-year-old country singer sought out a serene space when she bought the 3,500-square-foot home in the middle of her divorce and while writing her fifth studio album, Star Crossed.

‘I wanted a place that felt like me where I could express myself without having to think about another person and what they might want,’ she said. ‘This felt like a new beginning.’

Kacey kept some of her flare throughout the home, though, with a framed half-joint she smoked with Willie Nelson, a collection of crystals and a powder room covered in nude sketches from a local artist.

Peaceful: The 33-year-old country singer sought out a serene space when she bought the 3,500-square-foot home in the middle of her divorce and while writing her fifth studio album, Star Crossed

Home sweet home: Kacey Musgraves opened the doors to the peaceful Nashville sanctuary she purchased following her divorce from musician Ruston Kelly in 2020 and gave a tour to Architectural Digest

High times: Kacey also recalled a time when she was smoking marijuana with legendary musician Willie Nelson, a memory she never wanted to forget, so she made sure to mark the event with a spot on her wall

Musgraves took a step back from her usually maximalist style to create a space with interior designer Lindsay Rhodes that reflected a calmer, more focused mindset.

‘There are a lot of orbs and circles in the house,’ Musgraves said. ‘I was writing the album at the same time I was moving into the home, and there were a lot of themes that were kind of presenting themselves [in both projects].

‘This theme of full-circle-ness kept appearing, and I had some spiritual experiences that involved orbs—I had a psychedelic plant therapy session in which people from my past kept presenting themselves to me in the form of orbs.’

She added: ‘Without running the risk of sounding like an absolute psycho, it was really transformative for me.’

One thing that was important for Kacey while designing her space, was keeping her memories alive in every way possible. She showed off a photo of her ‘bada** mom’ smoking a cigarette while wearing a lettermen’s jacket and cheerleading.

Kacey also recalled a time when she was smoking marijuana with legendary musician Willie Nelson, a memory she never wanted to forget, so she made sure to mark the event with a spot on her wall.

‘He rolled this huge fatty,’ she recalled, ‘and we all sat around and smoked it with him, and then he said, “Save the rest for another time,” and I did.’

Take a seat: Kacey had an idea to cover the walls of one room with nude sketches, but was delighted to find a bathroom lined with charcoal drawings from local artist Hazel King

Still a retro inspiration: Musgraves took a step back from her usually maximalist style to create a space with interior designer Lindsay Rhodes that reflected a calmer, more focused mindset

Embracing her past: She shared a collection of framed photos of her grandmother with her dad while showing off her immaculate mansion

Kacey had planned to create a room full of nude sketches while on her house hunt, but was delighted to see that her vision had already started taking place in the home when she first toured.

‘I’d started collecting nude sketches because I had this vision of hanging them floor to ceiling in a bathroom, but I hadn’t done it,’ she said. ‘And then it was somehow here, already manifested, almost exactly how I’d pictured it. It’s one of my favorite things about the house.’

The Space Cowboy singer admitted she began collecting robin bird egg shells after they began mysteriously appearing when she first started dating poet Cole Schafer and he told her about a dream he had about a robin’s egg.

‘And then a handful of days later … he found a robin’s egg on his front doorstep,’ she said. ‘And a couple of months after that, we were visiting his parents in Indiana, and long story short, there was a robin’s egg on their front doorstep.’

Down to the details: Musgraves collects crystals and geodes, and admitted trying to be a minimalist when it comes to design isn’t always the easiest task for her eccentric mind

More is more: She’s tried to invoke more of a wabi-sabi aesthetic into her design elements, the Japanese concept of embracing beauty in imperfection

‘The interior of this home was my first time trying to embrace a minimalist mindset, and that is a challenge for me,’ Musgraves said

‘You can’t put your finger on the exact style of this house, and I’d say the same about my music. Instead, it’s a big patchwork quilt of all these things that spark some kind of joy in me.’

She also showed off the exterior of her country home, with lush landscaping surrounding the expansive property, and a wooden deck overlooking a pool.

Her home was also equipped with a gym which included weights, a treadmill and indoor sauna, complete with neon light backlighting.

Kacey released star-crossed in September through Interscope Records, which immediately debuted at No. 1 on the US Top Country Albums chart.

The album focuses on her trials and tribulations following the end of her marriage to Ruston, whom she married in October 2017.

He was also the source of inspiration for her chart-topping record Golden Hour in 2018.

She’s since found love again in the arms of Cole Schafer, a creative writer and founder of copywriting agency Honey Copy.

Kacey and Cole, who moonlights as a poet named January Black, have each made a place on each other’s social media grids after spending the summer falling in love.
