Samsung Galaxy S23 preorder reservations are ending, final discount call!

It’s the final call for the Galaxy S23 series preorder reservations pledging, Samsung fans! Buyers who intend to add up to $100 in store credits on top of their Galaxy S23 Ultra, S23+, or S23 preorder bonuses when the phones hit the tape, can take a nonbinding reservations now and decide later!

The preorder reservation discount is $50, just like for the S22 series last year, but this time it can be doubled via a Galaxy Book 3 laptop purchase, the new series of notebooks from Samsung that sport 3K OLED screens, discrete RTX graphics, and the newest Intel processors to go with your new Galaxy S23 line phone.

Samsung’s so-called Reservation Gift of up to $100 that you can sign up for in the next few days before the Galaxy S23 February 1 Unpacked event, has to be stacked while you are doing the preorder. It can be applied toward the price of an accessory or a service but not cut, say, the Galaxy S23 Ultra price directly.

The Galaxy S23 prices would remain the same

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra price: $1199.99 (256GB)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23+ price: $999.99 (256GB)
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 price: $799.99 (128GB)

Speaking of pricing, in the US the Galaxy S23 prices are likely to remain unchanged, despite doubling the S23+ and S23 Utra base storage amounts to 256GB. In Europe, however, the Galaxy S23 family will be more expensive than their predecessors.

Galaxy S23 preorder gifts and bonuses

A free set of Galaxy Buds Pro 2 noise-cancelling earphones may await those who preorder a Galaxy S23, S23+, or S23 Ultra early, just like last year when Samsung was gifting its 2022 audio pride and joy, too.

It, however, tacked on free storage upgrades and would apparently allow you to grab a 512GB Galaxy S23 Ultra for the $1200 price of the 256GB unit, too. That’s before the generous trade-in offers which last year crept up to $500 for the oldie Note 10+ even, and more for the S-line predecessor.

Below is the trade-in amount you are likely to get for your older Samsung phone in exchange for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, based on the discount Samsung was giving last year.

Galaxy S23 Ultra preorder trade-in deals to expect

  • $590 for a Galaxy S22 Ultra
  • $500 for a Galaxy S22+
  • $390 for a Galaxy S22
  • $440 for a Galaxy S21 Ultra

Will a Galaxy S23 upgrade be worth it?

The $1200 launch price point for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, unchanged from last year, is actually pretty sweet if you upgrade from anything but the S22 Ultra, given the mighty new 200MP camera sensor and the exclusive overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset.

Even then, though, if you upgrade from a base 128GB S22 Ultra it will be worth the jump to a Galaxy S23 Ultra as it will now come with 256GB from the start, and a free upgrade by Samsung will quadruple your base storage for the same amount of money.

Knock $590 off from the price for the trade-in and the Buds Pro 2 at $229.99 value, and throw in at least $50 in preorder reservation bonus for a case or a fast charger, and you will essentially be paying just $330 for a fully kitted Galaxy S23 Ultra with 512GB to store your newly smooth 8K 30 FPS video in!

Samsung Galaxy S23 series pre-order posters appear ahead of launch

Last updated: January 23rd, 2023 at 10:00 UTC+01:00

We are just a few days away from the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event scheduled for February 1, where Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S23 lineup. Just like in previous years, the Galaxy S23 series will consist of three phones: Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Almost all the information about the entire lineup is already out there on the internet.

Even official designs and specifications have emerged online way ahead of the Galaxy S23 series launch. Now, tipster Evan Blass has shared the official pre-order posters of the Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S23+, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The first pre-order posters show the vanilla Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23+ in their beige and light pink colors, respectively. The back panel of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ looks amazing, thanks to the new camera module inspired by the Ultra model, giving the device a minimal look.

Speaking of the leaked pre-order poster for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, it shows the premium flagship in its new botanic color option. The S Pen is also shown on the poster. The design of the phone, as leaked several times before, looks similar to the 2022 Galaxy S22 Ultra. But the Galaxy S23 Ultra will bring a bunch of new camera features. This includes improved nighttime camera performance and the 200MP camera, the samples of which are spectacular.

Official specifications of the Galaxy S23 Ultra are also out, which might help your decision as to whether or not to buy the device. While Samsung is all set to hike the price of the Galaxy S23 series in South Korea, customers in the USA can breathe a sigh of relief as a leaked document shows that the company isn’t increasing the price in the country.

Samsung Galaxy S23 preorder reservations are live, score an S23 Ultra deal!

Samsung is giving the same Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra preorder reservation bonus this year that it gave for the S22 family when its Unpacked event was announced. The $50 discount on top of all Galaxy S23 deals and preorder bonuses that will go live on February 1st, however, is increased to $100 if you get two devices, so the offer is even more generous in 2023!
The $100 discount, however, seems to be only if you reserve an S23 line handset together with an upcoming Galaxy Book device that will probably also make a cameo during Samsung’s February Unpacked event, while for reserving a Galaxy S23 Ultra right now you’d get $50 – just like last year – but in addition to all the unbeatable deals Samsung will have for early adopters who preorder by the February 17 release date.
Needless to say, that preorder reservation discount is on top of all other bonuses like the rumored free Galaxy Buds Pro 2 or gratis cases, the best trade-in offers in the industry, or exclusive colors and storage amounts you wouldn’t be able to grab anywhere else but via Samsung, and that goes for the Verizon, T-Mobile, or AT&T Galaxy S23 models bought from it, too.

Samsung is quick to point out all the benefits like the best trade-in values you would get by reserving now and getting an S23 phone directly from it:

  • Guaranteed trade-in credit when purchasing several Galaxy phones, including trade-in credit for phones with cracked screens and the highest trade-in value for Galaxy devices.
  • Samsung Offer program, which includes additional savings for eligible Students, Military, First Responders and corporate partner employees.
  • 0% APR Financing with no down payment, and pay in 4 installments with Affirm
  • Samsung Care+ Extended coverage including:
  • Device protection for drops, spills, and mechanical breakdown
  • Same-day cracked screen repairs at 700+ Samsung authorized locations
  • Replacements as soon as next business day
  • Samsung expert support available 24/7 for new device setup, transferring content, and connecting with other devices

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series prices may by the same

The leaked Galaxy S23 line prices in Korea that translate to $1250 for the S23 Ultra when the exchange rate is taken into account, indicate that the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra prices will likely remain unchanged in the US. Usually, the price tags in Samsung’s home turf are slightly higher in dollar equivalency than they end up being when the phones land stateside, plus there were reports in Korean media that locally the phones will cost slightly more due to component inflation.

For the S22 Ultra, Samsung tucked the S Pen in the phone’s body, and put on a better screen, but still charged the same, so we keep our hopes high for a $799 Galaxy S23 starting price, $999 tag for the Galaxy S23+, and the sweet $1199 Galaxy S23 Ultra price spot for the base storage versions. This is actually a sweet deal, given that the 128GB models may only be limited to a very few countries, and most of the world, the US included, is likely to get 256GB starting storage for the price of last year’s 128-giggers.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra vs Galaxy S23 Plus vs Galaxy S23 specs to expect

A Samsung-exclusive overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 would power all three phones, so let’s preview all rumored Galaxy S23 series specs to make it easier for you to pull the preorder reservation trigger on an S23, S23+, or the Ultra.

As you can see from the S23 series specs listed here, Samsung will upgrade its 2023 flagship line crop with the fastest processor and 5G modem available for Android phones, whose benchmarks put it on even keel with Apple’s A-series chipsets even.

Moreover, despite their larger batteries and more base storage, the Galaxy S23 and S23+ should launch at the same prices, too, as the LTPS display technology is expected to stay, just with wider refresh rate range.

Samsung, however, has pulled out all the stops for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and not only with the new 200MP camera, increasing the specs gap over its siblings even further to an extent that it forecasts the most sales will go to its best 2023 phone now, and with a good reason. The S23 preorder reservation bonus you can get here will certainly help offset the price difference, too.

Google Pixel 7 preorder gifts could include the Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds Pro

If you’re looking for reasons to buy the Google Pixel 7 or the Google Pixel 7 Pro when they’re launched next week, consider this: you might get a free Google Pixel Watch or some Google Pixel Buds Pro earbuds with your preorder.

That’s according to tipster Roland Quandt (opens in new tab), who is usually reliable with the information that he provides. The Pixel Watch will apparently be included with Pixel 7 Pro preorders, with the Pixel Buds Pro on offer for Pixel 7 buyers. There is a catch though – Quandt indicates that these offers will only be available in the UK.

Whether they end up appearing as deals in other international markets, or whether Google puts together different preorder packages, remains to be seen. The new phones would certainly be a more tempting proposition with a free gift thrown in.

Price points

What we do know is that the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro will get unveiled on Thursday, October 6. As for the actual shipping and on-sale dates, Tuesday, October 18 has been mentioned as a possibility by those in the know.

The Pixel Watch is expected to make its debut on October 6 together with the Pixel 7 phones. Considering that the wearable is expected to retail for around $350 in the US and around £340 in the UK, that’s quite a freebie to be throwing in.

As for the Pixel Buds Pro, they’re already out and available to buy for $199 / £179 – not as expensive as the Pixel Watch is likely to be, but then again they’re being paired with the cheaper Pixel 7. All will be revealed next week.

Analysis: Google sweetens the deal

Google has form for putting some pretty decent preorder deals out there: you might remember that Google Pixel 6 preorders in the UK came with a free pair of Bose 700 wireless headphones, worth £300 (half as much as the phone itself).

Clearly preorder freebies sweeten the deal for potential buyers, and they’re likely to make a lot more people consider picking up a Pixel 7 smartphone – especially when it comes to the Pixel 7 Pro, if indeed a Pixel Watch will be bundled with it.

There’s going to be a hit in terms of finances for Google of course, but it might not be a bad idea to get as many people as possible wearing its new smartwatch. More users means more developer interest, which means more investment in Wear OS.

As always, pricing is going to be crucial – if the phones themselves are too expensive, then the preorder deals might not even matter. We will of course be bringing you all the news and announcements live on October 6, as they happen.

Apple iPhone 14: price, release date, and how to preorder

Apple announced the iPhone 14 lineup, consisting of the base iPhone 14, the slightly bigger iPhone 14 Plus, and the faster, more capable iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Each of those links will take you to hands-on previews. Look forward to the full reviews, where we’ll be able to tell you if Apple’s A16 Bionic chip is worth upgrading to, as well as see how some of the cameras and other new features (like the satellite SOS) work in the real world.

If you already know that you want to buy one, here are the straight details: preorders start at 8AM ET / 5AM PT on Friday, September 9th. Almost all of the phones will release on Friday, September 16th, with one exception. That’s the iPhone 14 Plus, which comes out on October 7th. If you’re thinking about buying the iPhone 14 (or, heck, all four varieties — follow your bliss), we’ve listed out some retailer links, along with retailer and carrier promotions that seem worthwhile.

Where to preorder the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 will be available to preorder through Apple, starting at $799 for the 128GB model. Going up to 256GB adds $100, while it’s $1,099 to get one with 512GB of storage.

The iPhone 14 Plus with 128GB of storage starts at $899 and follows a similar price trajectory for storage upgrades. It’s $999 to double the storage to 256GB, then $1,199 to get a 512GB version. As noted above, this model won’t release until October 7th.

Like previous years, you can choose between the Pro and Pro Max varieties of Apple’s latest iPhone.
Image: Apple

Where to preorder the iPhone 14 Pro

You’ll be able to get an iPhone 14 Pro with 128GB of storage for $999. There are more storage configurations available with this model, going up to 1TB, which costs $1499.

Where to preorder the iPhone 14 Pro Max

Similar to the smaller iPhone 14 Pro, the larger iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at 128GB of storage and can go up to 1TB. Costs, however, aren’t the same due to the size difference. This model starts at $1,099, going up to $1,599.

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro carrier deals

AT&T: For new and existing customers, you can get up to $1,000 off any of the new iPhone models when you trade in a qualifying device. You’ll have to sign up to pay installments for the phone, and you’ll receive billing credits for your trade-in over a 36-month duration. Credits will begin to appear on statements within three billing cycles.

T-Mobile: Same goes for T-Mobile. For new and existing customers, you can get up to $1,000 off any of the new iPhone models when you trade in a qualifying device. You’ll have to sign up to pay in monthly installments for the phone, and you’ll receive billing credits for your trade-in over a 24-month duration. T-Mobile claims that credits begin to appear on statements within two billing cycles.

Verizon: For new and existing customers, you can get up to $800 off any of the new iPhone models when you trade in a qualifying device. You’ll have to sign up to pay in monthly installments for the phone, and you’ll receive billing credits for your trade-in over a 24-month period, with credits starting within two billing cycles.

Pokémon Scarlet And Violet’s Preorder Bonuses Are Terrible

Image: Nintendo

Gamer salt over preorder bonuses is nothing new. But this time, the Pokémon community’s salt feels partially justified. Amazon recently showed an infographic that details what fans can get by ordering Scarlet and Violet digitally ahead of launch: A set that includes 10 potions, 10 antidotes, and three revives. The rewards feel so inconsequential that fans are mocking the bonuses online.

We already learned of these bonuses earlier this month, But having the paltry rewards shown in an image is a lot different than simply reading about them in a bulleted list.

“I originally had zero interest in these games, but once they said I could preorder to receive 10 potions in-game, that’s when everything changed,” one user sarcastically remarked, pointing out that the paltry bonuses likely weren’t going to compel anyone to buy one of Nintendo’s most anticipated games of the year. Another fan was more overt in their criticism: “You can literally just defeat two or three trainers on the first route to get enough Pokédollars to buy all of these items”

To be fair, players who buy the game digitally will also receive five full heals, three ethers, a rare candy, and a nugget. But those are still somewhat common items that you’ll regularly stumble upon in-game. Some fans have pointed out that Japanese Scarlet and Violet buyers are getting physical artbooks, which is more in line with what most fans expect when they preorder a game. Others are relieving the days of getting exclusive Pokémon in distribution events, like a special Torchic in Pokémon X and Y.

However, that’s just for if you purchase a single game digitally. Players who purchase the two-pack of both versions will receive 100 Pokéballs. If you buy the game from the official Pokémon Center, you’ll be able to obtain this floral-print backpack. Maybe I’d be more excited if the Pokémon Center hadn’t given me a Scorbunny plush toy for preordering Pokémon Shield a few years ago.

What the store listings should have advertised is the special crystal Pikachu that players will get if they buy the game before February 28, 2023. This Pikachu can use the flying-type move Fly, which it can’t learn naturally. So there is a special bonus for buying the game early, but it’s not exclusive to simply buying Scarlet and Violet before the launch date.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released on November 18.

How to pre-order Hogwarts Legacy — including the pricey collector’s edition

After being shrouded in mystery for so long, concrete details about Hogwarts Legacy are finally starting to surface. First we got a lengthy gameplay presentation back in March, and earlier this week we got a brand new trailer focusing on the Dark Arts.

The open-world RPG set in the Harry Potter universe is due to release on February 10, 2023 and is set to launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC. A Nintendo Switch version is also coming at a yet unspecified later date. Now that the hotly-anticipated game has a firm release date, Hogwarts Legacy pre-orders details have also been conjured up.

The game is set to launch in multiple physical editions including a swanky Deluxe and Collector’s Edition. Those who prefer buying their games digitally will also have a choice between two editions as well. As of 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, August 25 the Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition and Hogwarts Legacy Collector’s Edition are now available to pre-order. All the buying link you need are down below, so jump on your broomstick and get your pre-order locked in right now.

What’s in the Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition?

The Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition (opens in new tab) will be released across platforms and costs $80/£75 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, $70/£75 on PS4 and Xbox One and $70/£60 on PC and Nintendo Switch.

This premium version of Hogwarts Legacy includes 72 hours early access to the game, letting you start playing on February 7, 2023. Plus, you also get a range of in-game goodies such as the Dark Arts Pack. This DLC pack boasts an exclusive Dark Arts cosmetic set, a flying Thestral mount and access to the Dark Arts Battle Arena where you can test your mastery of the sinister side of magic against waves of challenging foes.

There will also be a Hogwarts Legacy Digital Deluxe Edition costing $80/£75 across platforms. It includes all the same extras as its physical counterpart, alongside the Dark Arts Garrison Hat and a cross-gen digital upgrade on PlayStation and Xbox. If you plan to plan Hogwarts Legacy across console generations this is the version for you because, as previously revealed, the standard edition doesn’t come with a free upgrade.

What’s in the Hogwarts Legacy Collector’s Edition?

Wannabe wizards might want to splurge on the pricey Hogwarts Legacy Collector’s Edition. This ultra-premium version of the game will cost $289/£269 on PC and PS4/Xbox One, and an eye watering $300/£279 on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The Collector’s Edition includes all the Deluxe Edition content mentioned above, as well as a physical life-size floating magic wand with a book base that will look pretty epic on display. It’ll also include a collectible steelbook case, and in-game Kelpie Robe to outfit your character. We expect this edition to be in relatively short supply, so you’ll want to get your pre-order in quickly once they go live tomorrow.
