The Hurry-Up: Ohio State Offers Four-star 2024 Maryland Running Back DeJuan Williams, Five-star Defensive Tackle Justin Scott Postpones His Commitment
Ohio State has offered another running back in the 2024 cycle.
Four-star Maryland prospect DeJuan Williams received the offer from running backs coach Tony Alford on Tuesday, becoming the 11th running back the Buckeyes have offered in the class.

Williams is the 299th-best prospect and 25th-rated running back in the 2024 cycle per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s added 16 Division I offers thus far, including Arizona, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Toledo, Virginia Tech and Liberty.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Williams helped lead St. Francis Academy (Baltimore, Maryland) to a 9-1 campaign last season. Ohio State has shown plenty of interest in St. Francis Academy prospects as of late, as Perry Eliano stopped by the school on Dec. 12 and offered four defensive backs from the East Coast powerhouse.
Justin Scott postpones commitment
One of Ohio State’s top targets at defensive tackle in the 2024 class is postponing his commitment. Five-star Chicago prospect Justin Scott announced Tuesday he’s pushing back his original commitment date of Tuesday to an unspecified date.

On Jan. 8, Scott put out a top eight that consisted of Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame, Colorado, Oregon, Miami, Alabama and Michigan. He picked up an offer from Georgia a week later, and the Bulldogs may be right in the thick of Scott’s recruitment despite the late offer.
From Ohio State’s perspective, a postponement can only be a positive sign, considering Scott was trending toward Notre Dame ahead of his expected commitment Tuesday. Scott received an offer from the Buckeyes earlier this fall, then took a gameday visit to Columbus on Oct. 1 for the Rutgers game. He is considered the 18th-best prospect and fourth-ranked defensive lineman in the 2024 class.
Gage to take an official visit to Ohio State
One of Ohio State’s top running back targets in the 2024 class has locked in Ohio State as a school he plans on taking an official visit to in the coming months. Four-star Florida prospect Stacy Gage told On3 this week he already knows of four schools that will receive official visits from him: Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC and Alabama. Other schools Gage put on his top eight earlier this month include Colorado, Florida, Miami and Penn State.
“Just me and Tony Alford, the relationship we got, he’s just incredible,” Gage told On3 of why Ohio State will receive an official visit. “He’s been recruiting me since I was a freshman, so why not?”
Gage has been a frequent visitor to Ohio State, visiting Columbus three times: last spring, last summer for a recruiting camp and last fall for a gameday visit in November for the Michigan game.
Gage’s relationship with Alford is a crucial reason Ohio State is a contender to land the top-150 prospect, as evidenced by him making the trip to Columbus over the summer to work out with him despite already holding an offer from the Buckeyes.
“I really do love his coaching style. It’s not even just me getting his relationship. It’s just the things everybody else says about him,” Gage said in June. “They say he’s a great guy, great person, great father and everything. Just being coached by him and everybody talking about him makes me feel good.
“With all the good running backs coming out of this program, Coach Alford coaching them, I always thought, ‘I could be one of those guys.’ Or probably even be better,” Gage said.
Ohio State releases recruiting summer camp dates
Speaking of recruiting camps, Ohio State has officially set its summer camp schedule for 2023.
Ohio State is hosting one-day recruiting camps on June 8, June 12, June 14, June 15 and June 20 for high school-aged prospects, with a seven-on-seven competition taking place on June 21. The Buckeyes will also host a middle school camp on June 5 and 6 and a middle school seven-on-seven on June 13.

Apple indefinitely postpones launch of AR glasses – Bloomberg News
Jan 17 (Reuters) – Apple Inc (AAPL.O) has postponed the launch of its lightweight augmented-reality glasses indefinitely due to technical challenges, but is still planning to unveil its first mixed-reality headset this year, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday.
The iPhone maker’s mixed-reality headset – which combines both augmented and virtual reality – is set to launch in this year’s spring event, Bloomberg said, adding that the device will cost around $3,000.
Apple’s mixed-reality device would compete with the likes of Meta Platforms’ (META.O) Quest Pro virtual and mixed-reality headset, which it launched late last year for $1,500, half of the Apple device’s reported price.
The Cupertino, California-based company now plans to focus on lowering the price of the follow-up version of its mixed-reality device, expected as soon as 2024 or early 2025, instead of working on the AR glasses, according to the report.
Apple will aim to do so by using chips on par with those in the iPhone rather than components found in higher-end Mac computers.
Apple did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
The Information website first reported Apple’s plans to unveil a cheaper mixed-reality headset on Tuesday.

Billy Joel postpones concert because of illness

The “Piano Man” is taking time to heal.
Bily Joel announced on social media Sunday that he had to postpone his planned Madison Square Garden concert on Monday until summer of 2023 due to an illness.
“I’m disappointed to share that I’m under doctor’s orders for vocal rest due to a viral infection so unfortunately, I must postpone my Monday, December 19th concert at Madison Square Garden to June,” a statement on his verified Facebook page reads. “I’m so sorry to let you know so close to show day, but I was hoping to be closer to a full recovery by now. Sadly, that hasn’t happened.”
“I look forward to seeing you in the New Year,” Joel added.
The legendary singer has been performing a residency, “Billy Joel at The Garden,” playing once a month at the venue since 2014.
In announcing the December show back in August, a press release noted that the concerts would continue “as long as the demand continues.”
SpaceX rocket trouble postpones Japanese moon lander launch – Spaceflight Now
SpaceX is expected to roll a Falcon 9 rocket back into its hangar at Cape Canaveral for troubleshooting, postponing the planned launch of a Japanese commercial moon lander for an unspecified period. SpaceX provided no details about the reason for grounding the rocket.
The company planned to launch the 229-foot-tall (70-meter) Falcon 9 rocket this week with a privately-developed moon lander owned by the Tokyo-based company ispace. SpaceX announced late Tuesday that teams would delay the launch from Wednesday to 3:37 a.m. EST (0837 GMT) Thursday. Officials decided late Wednesday the rocket launch will be postponed indefinitely.
“After further inspections of the launch vehicle and data review, SpaceX is standing down from Falcon 9’s launch of ispace’s Hakuto-R Mission from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida,” SpaceX said in a brief statement. “A new target launch date will be shared once confirmed.”
A statement from ispace said the issue causing the delay involves the Falcon 9 launch vehicle. Multiple sources familiar with the mission said SpaceX planned to lower the Falcon 9 rocket horizontal and roll it back to the hangar just south of pad 40, where technicians will perform more tests and resolve the problem.
Data on marine tracking websites also indicated SpaceX’s recovery ship “Doug” had left the location where it would retrieve the Falcon 9’s payload fairing after launch of ispace’s Hakuto-R lunar lander, suggesting the delay could last more than a few days. SpaceX planned to land the first stage booster back at Cape Canaveral about eight minutes after liftoff.
SpaceX has launched 54 missions so far this year, 53 with the company’s workhorse Falcon 9 rocket one with a Falcon Heavy, made by combining three modified Falcon 9 first stage boosters together. The number of SpaceX missions in 2022 far exceeds the company’s previous record of 31 space launches in a calendar year. SpaceX set that record just a year ago.
The company plans as many as eight Falcon 9 rocket launches in December, a tally that assumes the mission with ispace’s Hakuto-R moon lander is able to fly soon. SpaceX has two launches scheduled from Florida next week — one with the next batch of Starlink internet satellites and another with 40 spacecraft for OneWeb’s broadband constellation.
It was not immediately clear what, if any, impact the Hakuto-R launch delay might have on other Falcon 9 missions scheduled for December.
SpaceX suffered few technical delays throughout most of 2022, but the problem with Hakuto-R’s rocket is the second Falcon 9 rocket issue in less than two weeks that has kept a mission on the ground.
A Falcon 9 was supposed to launch Nov. 18 from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California with 52 Starlink internet satellites, but SpaceX announced on the eve of the mission that managers decided to stand down from the launch to evaluate data from a test-firing of the rocket. A new target launch date for that Starlink mission has not been announced, but two other Falcon 9 flights from California appear to have jumped ahead of it on SpaceX’s calendar, indicating it will likely not occur until January.
The Hakuto-R mission aims to become the first privately-developed spacecraft to land on the moon. The one-ton lander carries several payloads, including a small rover from the United Arab Emirates that will be deployed on the lunar surface. Another tiny mobile robot to be deployed by ispace’s lander comes from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
According to ispace, the first Hakuto-R lander will take about five months to travel from Earth to the moon, utilizing a low-energy transfer orbit that requires the spacecraft to expend less fuel than if it took a direct route to the moon.
A 31-pound (14-kilogram) hitchhiker payload from NASA will share the ride to space on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. The secondary payload, called Lunar Flashlight, will fly its own independent trajectory toward the moon to enter orbit and map the locations of water ice deposits hidden in permanently-shadowed craters at the lunar poles. Future explorers on the moon could tap into water ice deposits to make rocket fuel, drinking water, and breathable oxygen.

After postponing multiple shows on the North American leg of his tour upon being diagnosed with the neurological disorder, the 28-year-old pop star performed seven live shows.
Despite his best efforts to trudge on, the Grammy winner has made the tough decision to take the rest of the year off to recover, according to TMZ.

Last month, after performing in Brazil, the Baby singer took to Instagram to tell fans: ‘After getting off the stage, the exhaustion overtook me and I realize that I need to make my health the priority right now.
‘So I’m going to take a break from touring for the time being. I’m going to be ok, but I need time to rest and get better,’ he explained.
Justin had resumed his world tour in Italy on July 31 after a near two month hiatus due to his health issues and performed seven total gigs culminating with Rock In Rio on September 4 before making the decision to walk away.

NASA says it is holding off a decision on whether to launch Artemis I on Tuesday as preparations for a possible rollback to the Vehicle Assembly Building continue.
Planners suggested on Saturday that they were pulling the plug on the launch attempt of its Artemis I mission to the moon from Kennedy Space Center because of weather forecasts associated with Tropical Storm Ian.

But on Sunday, NASA said they would hold off a little longer on making that decision as weather forecasts hinted at more favorable conditions for a launch.
In a statement, NASA said the latest information indicated a “slower moving and potentially more westerly track of the storm than yesterday’s predictions showed, providing more time for the agency’s decision-making process and for employees to prioritize their families should the storm impact the Kennedy Space Center area.”
NASA’S DART MISSION: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE IMPACT
NASA managers will meet Sunday evening to evaluate whether to roll back or remain at the launch pad to preserve an opportunity for a launch attempt next week.
NASA said the exact time of a potential rollback could occur Monday or very early Tuesday morning and would ultimately depend on future weather predictions.

The spacecraft is scheduled to travel to the Moon, deploy some small satellites and then settle into orbit. NASA aims to practice operating the spacecraft, test the conditions crews will experience on and around the Moon, and assure everyone that the spacecraft and any occupants can safely return to Earth.

He announced the news in an Instagram story. “I’m having a very difficult time breathing, and there’s like a stabbing pain whenever I breathe or move,” he wrote. He added that tickets for Saturday’s show would be valid for when the concert is rescheduled.
“Boston, I love y’all so fucking much. On tour, I usually wake up around 4 o’clock PM, and today I woke up to a cracking sounds on the right side of my body,” he wrote. “I felt so good last night, but today it felt so different than it has before. I’m having a very difficult time breathing, and there’s like a stabbing pain whenever I breathe or move.”
A rep for Post Malone did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s request for comment.
“We’re in the hospital now, but with this pain, I can’t do the show tonight. I’m so fucking sorry,” he continued. “Everyone’s tickets for tonight’s show will be valid for the reschedule that we’re planning right now. Once again, I’m so fucking sorry. I love y’all so much. I feel terrible, but I promise I’m going to make this up to you. I love you Boston, I’ll see you soon.”
Last week, Post Malone injured his ribs after he accidentally fell through an open trap door while performing in St. Louis last Saturday. It’s unclear if the injury is related to his recent hospitalization. Malone is in the midst of a North American tour in support of his fourth studio album, Twelve Carat Toothache.
