Chocobo GP post-launch support to end with Season 5 update

Season 5 will be the last season where prize pass levels are used in Chocobo GP mode. After Season 5 ends, rankings will continue without the use of prize pass levels, and there will be no longer further large scale game updates. Chocobo GP mode will remain playable.

Additionally, sales of Mythril on the Nintendo [17,563 articles]” href=”https://www.gematsu.com/platforms/nintendo”>Nintendo eShop have been discontinued as of today. Any mythril already in your possession can still be used at the in-game mythril shop in beyond, but the shop itself will disappear on January 6, 2023.

Season 5 will be the last season where prize pass levels are used in the Chocobo GP mode. Operating policies for after Season 5 ends are detailed below.

  • Rankings will continue without the use of prize pass levels, in the same way as the current season off period.
  • There will be no further large scale updates (e.g. new characters or new maps) to the game after the Season 5 update on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

*It will remain possible to play the Chocobo GP mode itself.

Additionally, sales of Mythril on the Nintendo e-shop have been discontinued with the update released today at 15:00 (JST).

Mythril that players own will still be able to be used at the in-game mythril shop during Season 5 and beyond, but the shop itself will disappear when all purchased mythril becomes invalid as of 00:00 on January 6, 2023 (JST). Accordingly, please be aware that all mythril, including any remaining non-paid for mythril, will become invalid at this time.

*As it is not possible to receive a refund for purchased Mythril, please be sure to spend before its expiration.

Furthermore, new items will continue to be added to the mythril shop during Season 5 as before, but the same items may also be added to the ticket or gil shops at the same time and become available to obtain without spending mythril.

Items originally sold in the Mythril Shop during the Season 1 to Season 4 periods may also be added to the Ticket or Gil Shops.

*Items originally sold in the Mythril Shop as exclusive to Season 1 may also be put back on sale (with some exceptions).
*Items originally awarded as Prize Level rewards for Season 1 may also be put on sale in the Ticket or Gil Shops.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Will Be Supported With Free Post-Launch Updates

In case you missed it, Nintendo has announced it will be supporting the upcoming release Mario Strikers: Battle League with free post-launch updates, including new characters.

It seems now we’ve got some additional information courtesy of Twitter user and dataminer ‘Wipeoutjack7’ – revealing the game’s source code makes mention of 10 additional characters. The exact characters haven’t been revealed just yet, but hey, it means characters such as Daisy could return.

Of course, this is all subject to change, and for now – all we know is that this post-launch content will include at least some free characters. If we did get 10 additional characters, as noted above, this would bump the full roster up to 20.

These free post-launch updates follow in the footsteps of various other first-party Nintendo releases. On the sports front, Mario Golf: Super Rush also got additional courses and characters.

Dying Light 2 Will Get At Least Five Years Of Post-Launch Content

Just a week after Dying Light 2 developer Techland said the game will take “at least 500 hours” to fully complete, we’re now learning that the game will get at least five years of post-launch content with new stories, areas, in-game events, and more.

Techland announced its post-launch plans on Twitter, guaranteeing support for years to come. We don’t know how much of the update plans will be free content, or how much will come in the way of free DLC.

However, Techland also supported the original Dying Light with a lot of free content and multiple major paid expansions, so we can likely expect to see the same type of support with the sequel.

Last week, Dying Light 2 was in the news for another tweet from the developers, where they said the game has 500 hours of content. That number was later clarified, with Techland saying it takes 500 hours to complete absolutely everything the game has to offer, including different story paths, endings, and more.

Players just looking to complete the main story and side quests can expect to spend about 70-80 hours, while players beelining the main story should only need about 20 hours.

Dying Light 2: First Hands-On Preview Screenshots

After multiple delays, Dying Light 2 is set to come out next month, on February 4. We got to go hands-on with Dying Light 2 late last year, where we said the game, “simultaneously feels like the natural next step for the franchise, while also feeling like something that establishes its own unique identity.” For more, check out Dying Light 2’s official gameplay trailer.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Post-Launch Roadmap Revealed

Capcom has revealed Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruins’ post-launch roadmap through October 2021, and it includes free new Monsties like Monster Hunter Rise’s Palamute and a few co-op quest exclusive monsters.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 will be released on Nintendo Switch and PC on July 9, and the first post-launch content will be the aforementioned Palamute Monstie that arrives on July 15.

On August 5, Free Title Update #2 will bring with it a Kulve Taroth as a co-op quest exclusive monster and Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos Monsties. In September, two updates will drop that include five new Monsties – Soulseer Mizutsune, Elderfrost Gammoth, Oroshi Kirin, Dreadking Rathalos, and Molten Tigrex. There will also be a High Difficulty version of the Kulve Troth co-op quest.

In October 2021, Free Title Update #5 will add a new mysterious High Difficulty co-op quest exclusive monster and the Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian Monsties.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Post-Launch Woes Continue

I loved Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. So much so that, had I been given more time with it during the calendar year, it would have made a serious run for my Game Of 2020. But boy, at the same time, I have not been happy with the support the game has got after launch.

The game released, and continues to feature months later, a number of quest-breaking, and sometimes entirely game-breaking bugs. One of them had me stuck for over a week when a character essential to a main storyline quest refused to appear at her designated point in Ravensthorpe, another for a few days when a quest that was supposed to trigger new dialogue after I dropped a guy off my horse just never got around to it.

Those are two that plagued me; The Washington Post highlighted another last week that was giving many others serious headaches.

To be clear, the problem here isn’t that the game launched with bugs. Like some other wonky parts of Valhalla—low-quality sound effects in some areas, and cutscenes where character’s lips don’t move—there are concessions to be made for the fact a big AAA game was released in the middle of a global pandemic.

But also, there’s a point where we have to acknowledge that this game was released in November, and it’s now almost April, and many of these major bugs are still there, trapping and frustrating players months later. Which sucks!

And while issues from November are still there, new ones keep piling up. The game’s latest round of free seasonal content, based around the Ostara festivities, has had a number of aspects removed after they started causing crashes.

That solution involved removing Ravensthorpe’s Ostara decorations, and its new quests won’t be able to be completed while Ubisoft works on a fix.

I’m trying to get excited for the game’s first proper update, which will shift Eivor’s adventures to Ireland, but when the game still has so many lingering issues, what’s to say an expansion won’t just add more to the pile?
