Post Malone Covers Hootie and the Blowfish for Pokémon Day Celebration

Post Malone has released a cover of Hootie and the Blowfish’s 1995 hit song “Only Wanna Be With You” ahead of his performance at the Pokémon Day 25th-anniversary virtual concert on Saturday, February 27th.

Officially dubbed the “Pokémon 25 Version” of the song, Post Malone’s rendition trades the rootsy production of the original track for lush, echoing guitar and plenty of synthesizer sound effects that are reminiscent of the original Pokémon video game.

The song will be included in the setlist for Post Malone’s appearance at the Pokémon anniversary concert, streaming at 7:00 p.m. EST / 4:00 p.m. PST on February 27th. The event can be viewed for free on the official Pokémon YouTube and Twitch channels, and on Pokémon’s 25th-anniversary website.

Earlier this year, Post Malone appeared as a cartoon version of himself in the music video for his and Ozzy Osbourne’s collaboration, “It’s a Raid.” The song originally comes off Osbourne’s most recent LP, Ordinary Man, released in February 2020. Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign also released a remix of their 2020 track “Spicy,” now with new verses from YG, J Balvin, and Tyga. The singer is scheduled to headline Montreal’s Osheaga festival, currently set to take place in person July 30th through August 1st.

Washington Post: Evidence shows police told South Dakota AG involved in fatal crash that victim’s glasses were found in his car

Ravnsborg struck and killed 55-year-old Joseph Boever on September 12. He initially told police he had hit a deer, but he discovered Boever’s body the following morning after returning to the scene of the collision.

“They’re Joe’s glasses, so that means his face came through your windshield,” one of the detectives told Ravnsborg during an interview that was released by the state on Tuesday, according to the Post.

“His face was in your windshield, Jason. Think about that,” a detective with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation said to Ravnsborg, according to the Post, which said the official “denied seeing the pair of glasses inside his vehicle or on the man’s body.” The newspaper said the newly released interviews were recorded on September 14 and September 30.

Prosecutors in the state announced three misdemeanor charges against Ravnsborg last week, the Post said — charges that could result in up to 90 days in jail and $1,500 in damages if the state’s top law enforcement official is found guilty of all of them.

After the police interviews were released, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican, called on Ravnsborg to step down, writing in a tweet: “Now that the investigation has closed and charges have been filed, I believe the Attorney General should resign.”

“I have reviewed the material we are releasing, starting today, and I encourage others to review it as well,” she wrote.

But Ravnsborg does not plan to resign, according to Mike Deaver, his private spokesman, who told the Argus Leader that “at no time has this issue impeded his ability to do the work of the office.”
Last year, the state released a toxicology report stating that a blood sample given by Ravnsborg the day after the crash showed his blood alcohol content was 0%.

Officials also released last year the 911 call made by Ravnsborg the night of the crash in which he told dispatchers, “I hit something” that was in the middle of the road.

The dispatcher asked, “Are you injured at all, Jason?”

To which Ravnsborg responded, “I am not, but my car sure as hell is.”

Ravnsborg, a Republican, was elected South Dakota attorney general in 2018, according to his office’s website.

Isaiah Wilson says he’s ‘done with football’ as a member of the Titans in now-deleted social media post

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Isaiah Wilson’s days in Tennessee appear like they may be reaching an end. On Monday evening, the offensive tackle’s official Twitter accounted tweeted that he is “done with football as a Titan” and would take no further comments on the situation. The post remained on the 2020 first-round pick’s social media page for over 10 minutes before it was eventually taken down by either Wilson or someone who also has access to his account.

This is just the latest ordeal in what has evolved into a disastrous start to Wilson’s NFL career after being selected by the club with the No. 29 overall pick last spring. He recorded just four snaps for the Titans last season and was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list in early December after the 22-year-old dealt with a number of off-the-field issues. Wilson was arrested for DUI in September and was also suspended by the team later in the season for violating club rules. It was after that suspension was lifted when he was placed on the non-football illness list due to  “personal issues.”

Earlier this month, Titans GM Jon Robinson was asked about Wilson’s status with the team and noted that he hadn’t been in contact with him since he was placed on the NFI list. Robinson also put the ball in Wilson’s court if he wants to continue his career or not.

“He’s going to have to make a determination on whether he wants to do what it takes to play pro football. That will be on him,” Robinson said at the time, via the official team website.

At the time the Titans selected the 6-foot-6, 350-pounder out of Georgia, he was looked at as someone who could help anchor the offensive line opposite of Taylor Lewan, helping to protect Ryan Tannehill while also paving the way for Derrick Henry in the running game. Unfortunately for Tennessee, it doesn’t appear like this first-rounder is going to pay the dividends that most organizations hope for when they make such a significant investment.

As for Wilson’s NFL career, it seems like it’s currently hanging by a thread.

Pope Francis Removes Conservative African Cardinal From Vatican Post

ROME—Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Cardinal Robert Sarah as head of the Vatican’s office for liturgy, removing an outspoken conservative and possible future pope from the ranks of Vatican leadership.

The Holy See Press Office announced Saturday that Cardinal Sarah had stepped down. No successor has been named.

The cardinal submitted his resignation as required by church law when he turned 75 on June 15 of last year. But the pope frequently lets cardinals serve two or three years past that age, though not past 80.

In accepting Cardinal Sarah’s resignation, the pope has removed a subordinate out of step with his approach to liturgy, homosexuality and relations with the Muslim world. The cardinal is a hero to many conservative Catholics, some of whom see him as a future pontiff. He will still be able to vote in a conclave to elect a pope until he turns 80.

Last year, the cardinal raised controversy with a book widely interpreted as an attempt to influence Pope Francis’ decision on whether to allow the ordination of married men as priests. The episode led to embarrassment for the cardinal when retired Pope Benedict XVI asked to have his name removed as the book’s co-author.

Washington Post: Georgia prosecutor looking into phone call between Lindsey Graham and Brad Raffensperger

Citing a person familiar with the probe, the paper reported that the Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis will assess the call that Graham made to Raffensperger after the election.

The call will “be looked at,” the individual familiar with the investigation told the Post, warning that many details of the call and whether Graham broke the law remains unclear.

Raffensperger told the Post on November 16 that, in a conversation days beforehand, Graham had cast doubt on Georgia’s signature-matching law, and had also floated the possibility that biased poll workers could have counted ballots with inconsistent signatures.
Graham, a South Carolina Republican who was then chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, also inquired if Raffensperger could discard all mail-in ballots from counties that had shown higher rates of unmatched signatures, the Republican secretary of state told the Post at the time. Graham has denied the assertions from Raffensperger, who has stood firm on his account.

There have been no credible allegations of any issues with voting that would have impacted the election, as affirmed by dozens of judges, governors, and election officials, the Electoral College, the Justice Department, the Department of Homeland Security and the US Supreme Court.

In a statement to CNN, Graham spokesman Kevin Bishop called accusations that Graham’s call was inappropriate “ridiculous.”

“Senator Graham was asking about how the signature verification process worked,” Bishop said. “He never asked the Secretary of State to disqualify a ballot cast by anyone. The timing on this is also quite curious. It seems to be a less than transparent effort to marginalize anyone who helps President Trump.”

News of Willis’ decision to look into the call between Graham and Raffensperger comes as the South Carolina Republican serves as a juror in Trump’s ongoing impeachment trial in the Senate.
Additionally, CNN reported Monday that Raffensperger’s office has started an investigation into Trump’s attempts to overturn the state’s election results, including a phone call on which Trump pushed Raffensperger to “find” votes after his loss to then-President-elect Joe Biden, according to an audio recording first released by The Washington Post and later obtained by CNN.

A source familiar with the Georgia Secretary of State’s investigation told CNN on Friday that they are not investigating the Graham call.

A spokesman for Willis told the Post on Friday that the office was looking into all efforts to inappropriately sway the election’s administration. Willis announced Wednesday that her office would probe potentially criminal attempts to affect the state’s election results, including Trump’s calls to Raffensperger and to the state’s chief elections investigator, the paper reported.

CNN’s Jason Morris, Sarah Fortinsky, Chandelis Duster and Devan Cole contributed to this report.

Gina Carano Is Off ‘Mandalorian’ Amid Backlash Over Instagram Post

The actress Gina Carano, who starred as Cara Dune in the “Star Wars” spinoff series “The Mandalorian” on Disney Plus, on Wednesday compared “hating someone for their political views” to the persecution of Jews during the Holocaust in an Instagram post, her latest social media post to create a fan backlash.

Lucasfilm, the company within Disney that owns the show and the rest of the “Star Wars” franchise, condemned her comments and said in a statement that she was “not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.”

“Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable,” Lucasfilm said in a statement.

Ms. Carano was also dropped by her agency, UTA, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Instagram post, which re-shared an image from a different account, is no longer visible on her page. It led to thousands of complaints on social media, where many people used the hashtag #FireGinaCarano, not for the first time. (Some conservatives, who viewed her posts as a matter of free speech, countered with #CancelDisneyPlus.)

In September, Ms. Carano added “beep/bop/boop” to her Twitter bio, in what many saw as mockery of people who list their pronouns. She denied that accusation and said she was responding to people who asked her to list her pronouns, “exposing the bullying mentality of the mob that has taken over the voices of many genuine causes.”

She said she talked with her “Mandalorian” co-star Pedro Pascal, who “helped me understand why people were putting them in their bios.” (Mr. Pascal would later publicly support his sister, Lux Pascal, an actress who came out as transgender this week. )

Ms. Carano has also mocked the use of masks and the need for vaccines during the coronavirus pandemic, and embraced baseless claims of voter fraud after the presidential election.

Before she shifted to acting, she was one of the world’s top female mixed-martial artists and performed for two years on “American Gladiator” under the stage name “Crush.” She appeared in seven episodes of “The Mandalorian” as a trusty ally of the protagonist, played by Mr. Pascal, and is otherwise known for roles in “Haywire,” “Deadpool” and “Fast & Furious 6.”
