PlayStation Plus Free Games We May Get in February 2023

January is almost over, yet Sony has yet to reveal the free PlayStation Plus games all PS Plus subscribers, regardless of the tier, will be getting for February 2023. The expectation is that it will be another two PS4 games and a PS5 game, but what games specifically hasn’t been officially revealed or even unofficially leaked like most months. This should change in the coming days as both Sony and leakers are running out of time. In the meantime, here are the games we think could feature.

Sifu was released last year as a PlayStation console exclusive, and a fairly notable one at that. This February, it will celebrate its one-year anniversary. Further, the following month, it will finally come to Xbox consoles, making this a great time for PlayStation to take some of the wind out of this sail by making it free via PS Plus first.

“Whether you choose to play as a male or a female character, in Sifu, you will ponder that question on your path for revenge, hunting down your family’s assassins,” reads an official blurb about the game. “One against all, you have no allies, countless enemies, and a mysterious amulet to bring you back to life every time you die. Yet, be warned! Your secret weapon comes with a hefty price to pay: aging and its consequences.”

Next month, Kingdom Come Deliverance will celebrate its five-year anniversary. With a sequel on the way and millions of copies already sold, it’s a good time to generate some buzz and squeeze a bit more juice from the orange in order to get more people anticipating and ready to buy the sequel whenever it winds up coming out.

“You’re Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Thrust into a raging civil war, you watch helplessly as invaders storm your village and slaughter your friends and family,” reads an official pitch of the game. “Narrowly escaping the brutal attack, you grab your sword to fight back. Avenge the death of your parents and help repel the invading forces!”

The third and final game, the marquee PS5 offer, could be The Last of Us Part 1, which has seen a resurgence in sales thanks to the popularity of the HBO show. This will likely continue as the show progresses, but you have to imagine a bulk of this resurgence has already happened, which means now is a good time to use the game to market the TV show.

“Experience the emotional storytelling and unforgettable characters in The Last of Us, winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards,” reads an official description of the game. “In a ravaged civilization, where infected and hardened survivors run rampant, Joel, a weary protagonist, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of a military quarantine zone. However, what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal cross-country journey.”

Of course, these are just predictions. They are based on the history of the service and knowledge of the industry, but this isn’t a leak. Our predictions have been right in the past, but unfortunately, probability is very much against us.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Release Date Leaks Online

The next Assassin’s Creed game — dubbed Assassin’s Creed Mirage — is set to release sometime this year. When this year, we still don’t know. Ubisoft has yet to disclose a release date for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, or Amazon Luna game, however, previous rumors and reports have suggested it’s coming out this summer. Fast-forward to this week, and now a Polish retailer has listed the game for a summer release date.

According to Polish retailer Allegro, the Ubisoft game is coming out on June 30, 2023. June 30 is a Friday, the most common day for games to release, especially AAA games. So, the date checks out in this regard, however, June 30 is also the final day of June, which means this may be nothing more than a placeholder. And this would make sense because it’s unclear why a regional retailer would know about the game’s release date unless it’s going to be revealed imminently and go up for pre-order.

#Rumour: Possible release date for AC Mirage appears on Polish store! from
assassinscreed

For now, take this date with a grain of salt. This is a leak, not official information. And of course, even if this date is accurate, it doesn’t mean it will stay this way as everything is subject to change, especially video game release dates.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is — officially — slated for release sometime in 2023. If this new leak is accurate, it’s specifically coming out on June 30. When it releases, it will be available via PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and Amazon Luna.

“In the ninth century CE, Baghdad is at its height, leading the world in science, art, innovation, and commerce. Amid its bustling urban landscape, a conflicted young orphan with a tragic past must navigate the streets to survive,” reads an official blurb about the game. “In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you are Basim, a cunning street thief with nightmarish visions, seeking answers and justice. After an act of deadly retribution, Basim flees Baghdad and joins an ancient organization-The Hidden Ones. As he learns their mysterious rituals and powerful tenets, he will hone his unique abilities, discover his true nature, and come to understand a new Creed-one that will change his fate in ways he never could have imagined.”

PS5 Reportedly Locking Major Feature Behind PS Plus

PS5 is reportedly getting a major feature, but not only is this feature going to be locked behind PlayStation Plus, but it’s going to be locked behind the most expensive tier of the PS4 and PS5 subscription service. In other words, if you’re a PS Plus Essential subscriber or even a PS Plus Extra subscriber, you’re out of luck, because according to this new report, this new feature is for PS Plus Premium only, which means that only a fraction of subscribers will be able to enjoy it.

The report comes the way of Insider Gaming, which reports that soon PS5 games will be streamable on PS5 via cloud streaming, but only via PS Plus Premium. The feature is reportedly in the works under the project name “Cronus” and has been in the works for months. To this end, it should come as no surprise that it’s slated to come to PS5 on March 8, 2023.

For those that don’t know: PS Plus is divided into three tiers. The basic and standard tier, which is what PS Plus was before it was expanded upon earlier this year, is called PS Plus Essential and gives subscribers a handful of “free” games every month in addition to the ability to play multiplayer games, use cloud saves, and other things. The middle tier of the subscription service is PS Plus Extra, which is PS Plus Essential as well as unlimited access to a vast and evolving library of PS4 and PS5 games. And then there is PS Plus Premium, which is PS Plus Extra, but the library of PS4 and PS5 games is bolstered with PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP games. And apparently now this and the ability to stream PS5 games.

All of that said, take everything here with a grain of salt. While the source in question is sterling it doesn’t change the fact that everything here should be taken with a grain of salt. In the meantime, for more coverage on all things PlayStation click here or peep the links right below:

Sort of PS5 Slim: No hardware upgrades and no disc drive compatibility with PlayStation 5 Digital Edition for the modular PS5 “Gen 2” console

There might be some considerable criticism heading Sony’s way soon if new details about the so-called modular PS5 shared by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson are true. The source has frequently discussed upgrades and changes to the PlayStation 5, and he revealed that there was work ongoing with a console that would have a detachable disk drive, which will eventually replace the current PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition devices. This “PS5 Gen 2” would have a slimmer profile thanks to its modular nature, so it could even end up being the widely expected PS5 Slim.

While official word about a PS5 Slim would undoubtedly excite the community, Henderson’s latest tweet about PlayStation matters will likely not. Firstly, he states, “doesn’t seem like there are any major hardware changes from the original console”. So, this apparent PS5 v2 device will clearly not be any kind of PS5 Pro machine, and it won’t be the frequently rumored console coming with an improved custom SoC from AMD inside it. A sort of PlayStation 5 Slim console may be the best fans can hope for in regard to something new turning up in 2023.

However, Henderson rubs salt into the wound with the second part of his post, claiming, “disc drive likely won’t be compatible with the current digital version”. So, all those PlayStation 5 Digital Edition owners out there, and there are millions of them, may feel a pang of disappointment and even disapproval that this modular next-generation PS5 will be incapable of sharing its detachable disc drive with them. Some commenters have even called this potential situation a kind of money grab from Sony.

According to the source, production of this PlayStation 5 revision will start in April, and it could be available to buy in September. This means there will be a lot more leaks about the device to come yet, and it seems likely that Sony will make sure a PS5 Gen 2 will have plenty of selling points. If this rumored 2023 variant actually does end up being the PS5 Slim, there will still be many flocking to buy a slimmed-down and lighter PlayStation 5 console, regardless of it having a detachable and backwards incompatible disc drive.

PS5 Users Warned of Potential Design Flaw that Can Ruin Console

PS5 users have been warned of a potential design flaw that is said to have the ability to ruin their console. The PlayStation 5 was released in 2020, and just like the Xbox Series X, there have been no hardware issues so far, at least of the major variety. However, sometimes it takes a little time for issues to present themselves and be discovered. To this end, it looks like those who have been using their console vertically may soon have a problem on their hands.

As you may know, the PS5 can be positioned in two ways: horizontally and vertically. PlayStation has advertised the console in both positions in official marketing and promotional material. Yet, over on Twitter someone who runs a hardware repair shop has warned PlayStation users to not place their consoles vertically.

What’s the issue with placing your console vertically? Well, according to the user, they’ve had multiple damaged PS5s where the liquid metal used for APU cooling spills, runs, and becomes uneven. As you would expect, this impact the console’s cooling, which in turn impacts other components of the machine.

How widespread this problem is, we don’t know. The user in question claims they’ve seen the issue more than once and there are some other reports from other PS5 owners as well. This is far from being classified as a widespread problem, but with time that could change. Meanwhile, there’s nothing confirming the trigger for this issue is the console being placed vertically, but right now, that’s the only explanation that has been presented.

At the moment of publishing, Sony has not commented on the situation. If this changes, we will be sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, take everything here with a grain of salt. While there is enough evidence here to be concerned, it’s not enough to raise the alarms yet.

PlayStation Confirms Major God of War Ragnarok Upgrade

PlayStation has confirmed that God of War Ragnarok gives PS4 and PS5 players exactly what they wanted out of the first game. When Santa Monica Studio and PlayStation released 2018’s God of War reboot it earned universal acclaim, eventually settling on a 94 on Metacritic and beating Red Dead Redemption 2 at The Game Awards for GOTY. So far, the sequel looks largely more of the same, which should suffice for most PlayStation fans considering how good the first game is. That said, the sequel is bigger in size and scope. Not only have we heard that through the grapevine, but a new story description confirms as much.

In this new story description — which you read below — it’s noted that Kratos and Atreus will travel all nine realms over the course of the game, which is more than the first game. As you may remember, the first game only had six relams, with Asgard, Vanaheim, and Svartalfheim missing.

“Embark on a mythic journey for answers and allies as Kratos and Atreus prepare for Ragnarök,” says the description in question. “From Santa Monica Studio comes the sequel to the critically acclaimed God of War (2018). Fimbulwinter is well underway. Kratos and Atreus must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for a prophesied battle that will end the world. Along the way they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. The threat of Ragnarök grows ever closer. Kratos and Atreus must choose between their own safety and the safety of the realms.”

Now, this wouldn’t be the first time for a story description to have incorrect or misleading information, as they are usually written by PR who can be out of the loop. However, it’s not common. And it also just makes sense to add the remaining relams.

God of War Raganrok is set to release worldwide on November 9 via the PS4 and PS5. For more coverage on the highly-anticipated and long-awaited sequel — including not just the latest news on the game, but the latest rumors, leaks, and speculation — click here.

PlayStation Plus Is Getting Over 50 Free Games From Ubisoft

Sony has announced that PlayStation Plus will soon be getting over 50 free games from Ubisoft in the coming months. Just a few weeks back, the new revision of PS Plus finally kicked in, which means that more games across both PS4 and PS5 are available to those subscribed to the Premium and Extra tiers of the service. And prior to the end of 2020, subscribers to those versions of PS Plus will be getting a massive influx of Ubisoft titles.

Outlined in a new post on the PlayStation Blog, Ubisoft detailed that it’s planning to add even more games to its Ubisoft + Classics service down the road. Currently, this service is one that is also available to PS Plus Premium and Extra members and it features 27 games in total. By the end of 2022, though, Ubisoft has made clear that over 50 games will be available, although we don’t yet know what all of them will be.

“Ubisoft+ Classics initially launched with 27 Ubisoft titles, including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, The Division, and For Honor, as well as classic games like Child of Light, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Watch Dogs, and Werewolves Within, with plans to expand the library to include over 50 titles by the end of 2022.,” Ubisoft said of its plans to grow this service.

In the coming week, Ubisoft confirmed that it would begin expanding Ubisoft+ Classics even further with the addition of some beloved Assassin’s Creed titles. On Tuesday, July 19th, PS Plus subscribers will gain access to Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Unity, and Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered. In total, this lineup contains seven games (if you include the Freedom Cry DLC for Black Flag), which is quite an impressive way to bolster PS Plus that much more in the near future.

How do you feel about Ubisoft bringing so many of its popular games from the past to PS Plus? Will you look to play any of these games for yourself if you’re a subscriber of PlayStation Plus Premium or Extra? Let me know for yourself either down in the comments or message me on Twitter at @MooreMan12.

PlayStation Plus Subscribers Can Claim a Bonus Freebie

Subscribers of PlayStation Plus now have the option to claim a bonus freebie that is available across both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. While most members of PS Plus have likely been more focused on the recent release of July 2022’s free games, Sony has also teamed up with publisher Activision to give players of Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard some goodies that they can use in both titles.

As a way of celebrating the recent start of Season 4 for Warzone and Vanguard, PS Plus made available a new “Combat Pack” that subscribers can download. This add-on for Warzone and Vanguard is entirely free to those subscribed to the Essential version of PS Plus and it notably contains a new Operator skin for Halima Zambardi. In addition, this pack also features some new blueprints, an emblem, a double-XP token, and a handful of other items that can be used in-game. You can download the Combat Pack for yourself on the PlayStation Store right here if you’re interested.

In a general sense, it’s not that surprising to see that Sony is once again releasing more items like this via PS Plus for Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard. In the past, PS Plus has also given subscribers a number of goodies tied to Call of Duty, so this is a collaboration that we’re somewhat used to seeing between PlayStation and Activision. Still, the fact that these add-on packs for Warzone and Vanguard continue to release on PS Plus is something that might sway players to experience each game on PS5 and PS4 rather than on other platforms.

If you’d like to get a better idea of everything that is included in this free PS Plus Combat Pack for Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard, you can find the full list of redeemable items down below.

– Legendary Operator Skin for Halima Zambardi
– Legendary Shotgun Weapon Blueprint
– Legendary LMG Weapon Blueprint
– Legendary Emblem
– Legendary Watch
– Epic Charm
– Epic Sticker
– Epic Calling Card
– Legendary 60-minute Double XP Token
