Broncos fire two more coaches after parting ways with head coach Nathaniel Hackett
The Denver Broncos continued to clean out their coaching staff, announcing two more terminations after firing head coach Nathaniel Hackett on Monday.
Special teams coordinator Dwayne Stukes and offensive line coach Butch Barry have also been relieved of their duties, the team announced.
This was the first time of his coaching career that Stukes was a coordinator with a team.
He was the Los Angeles Rams’ assistant special teams coach during the 2021 campaign that resulted in a Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Stukes took the Broncos’ promotion before this season began, but he’ll now be looking for a new team to join.
Like Stukes, Barry also took a promotion with the Broncos this season after serving as the assistant offensive line coach for the San Francisco 49ers last season.
Barry was the University of Miami’s offensive line coach during the 2019 season, while also serving as a senior analyst with the Green Bay Packers during the 2020 campaign.

It’s an interesting move by the Broncos to go through with these moves, as there’s still two games remaining on the schedule. But, with Hackett now gone and Jerry Rosburg taking over as interim head coach, Denver clearly doesn’t mind making some changes now.
Offensive coordinator Justin Outten and defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, who reportedly declined the interim head coach position, remain in the building for now.

The small house cleaning by the Broncos comes on the heels of a 51-14 blowout loss to the Rams on Christmas Day, a game in which Russell Wilson threw three interceptions and Los Angeles scored on every offensive drive they put together.
The Broncos are now 4-11 on the season and already eliminated from playoff contention. And to make matters worse, they won’t even be picking high in the first round of this year’s draft, as they spent a load of draft capital and more to land Wilson this past offseason.

They also signed him to a massive five-year extension worth $245 million, with $165 million guaranteed.
In a statement, Broncos owner and CEO Greg Penner said, “Following extensive conversations with George [Paton] and our ownership group, we determined a new direction would ultimately be in the best interest of the Broncos.”

Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet are ‘parting ways in marriage’ after 16 years together
Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet are getting a divorce after 16 years together.
Momoa, 42, posted a joint statement on behalf of him and Bonet, who is not officially on social media, late on Wednesday night (12 January) on Instagram.
The actors first met at a Los Angeles jazz club in 2004, and have two children – daughter Lola and son Nakoa-Wolf –together. The Aquaman star also helped 54-year-old Bonet raise actor Zoë Kravitz, who she shares with her ex-husband, Grammy winner Lenny Kravitz.
Momoa and Bonet got married in a secret ceremony in 2017.
The couple’s statement on their divorce read: “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding – and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.
“And so, we share our family news, that we are parting ways in marriage.”
Momoa and Bonet clarified that the decision to publicly announce their separation was not taken because they think “it’s newsworthy” but rather so that “as we go about our lives, we may do so with dignity and honesty”.
“The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived,” the couple said in the joint statement, adding: “we free each other to be who we are learning to become…”
Momoa has previously revealed that he harboured a long-time crush on The Cosby Show alum.
During a 2017 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, he said: “Ever since I was like, eight years old and I saw her on the TV, I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one’.”
In an interview with Porter the following year, Bonet said the couple had been together “since the day they met” when they shared a meal of Guinness and grits together.
At the time, she praised Momoa as someone who “embodies a rare form of masculinity in this day and age”.
Momoa, who catapulted into superstardom after his stint as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, is reportedly very close with both Zoë and Lenny Kravitz.
Steve Ballmer’s “parting gift” as Microsoft CEO: Trying to name Cortana “Bingo”

Microsoft’s Cortana voice assistant is clearly winding down—the feature is still available in the desktop versions of Windows, but it’s no longer included in a default install of Windows 11, and the mobile app was discontinued back in March.
But the future once looked bright for the chipper virtual assistant, according to former Microsoft Product Manager Sandeep Paruchuri in an interview with the Big Bets newsletter. Paruchuri speaks at length about Cortana’s development as a feature for Windows Phone 8.1 from its beginnings as a passion project with a small team.
The Cortana feature was only officially called “Cortana” after the codename leaked during development—another early suggestion was “Alyx,” and then-CEO Steve Ballmer tried to name it “Bingo” as a “parting gift” before handing the reins to current CEO Satya Nadella. (Ballmer had “poor product taste,” says Paruchuri, in what we in the tech biz call “an understatement.”) Cortana’s developers were inspired by Siri but wanted their voice assistant to be more proactive, making suggestions based on context and user data rather than merely responding to direct input. The team also wanted Cortana to have more of a personality than Siri or Google Now, which was helped along by Cortana’s Halo voice actor, Jen Taylor.
Paruchuri ultimately blames a loss of focus and “dilution” for Cortana’s decline. “Everything that was right about the first release went wrong for the second release,” he said, as product managers from across Microsoft tried to get their ideas into Cortana, and it was adapted for platforms (like the PC and Xbox) where its proactive contextual features made less sense. Microsoft eventually used the “Cortana” branding for such a wide range of different technologies that “the name ceased to stand for anything at all.”
The interview is also interesting as a snapshot of a crucial period for Windows Phone’s development. Microsoft was stuck transitioning its still-fresh Windows Phone operating system from the Windows CE-based version 7 to the Windows NT-based version 8. This was an important move to make, but that involved nearly two years of development time working on the operating system’s underpinnings at a time when both iOS and Android were still developing rapidly and adding big, splashy new features from year to year. Cortana was also hurt by Microsoft’s continually shifting product strategy, which, according to Sandeep, had “shifted away from the original high-end US focus to an emerging markets focus” by the time the US-only Cortana feature was getting ready to ship.
