One particular image of Ms Chopra with Malti’s face turned away from the camera had divided the internet. A user went to the extent of accusing the actor of using her daughter as a “prop”. Many users also questioned the need of having her daughter in her pictures if she doesn’t want to reveal her face. But fans backed her and said it’s her “right and choice”.

VIDEO: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas throw ‘LIT Holi’ bash at their LA home for friends and family

It’s been three to four years since Nick Jonas began celebrating the festival of Holi with his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Each year, the celebrations tend to get bigger and better. After celebrating the festival in Mumbai in 2020 and in London last year, the couple threw a super fun Holi bash at their Los Angeles home this year. Considering that the couple are new parents, it only made sense for them to not venture out and celebrate the festival of colours.

Instead, Priyanka and Nick brought the party home and in the singer’s own words, made it a ‘LIT’ celebration. Taking to social media, Nick Jonas dropped a video from their Holi party and gave a glimpse of all the madness. From dousing each other in colours to throwing water balloons and even using water guns (a fancier version of the humble pichkari), it definitely looked like one unmissable  party.

While their friends joined them, Nick’s brother Kevin Jonas and youngest sibling Franklin Jonas also joined them for the party. Goes without saying, everyone was dressed in their whites which acquired a totally different colour by the end of the Holi party.

Priyanka Chopra also shared a few glimpses as she and Nick smothered each other with love. The actress wrote, “To be able to find some joy at a time when the world feels so scary is such a blessing. Happy holi everyone. Thank you to our friends and family for playing holi like desi’s do! Feeling blessed. #photodump #happyholi #goodoverevil #festivalofcolours.”

Last year, the couple celebrated the festival in London as the actress was in the middle of her Citadel shoot. Priyanka and Nick were joined by Nick’s parents for the festivities.

Meanwhile, the couple welcomed their first child via surrogacy in January this year. However, they have not yet released any more details or shared a picture of their newborn on social media.

Nick Jonas gets charred by Priyanka Chopra at Jonas Brothers Family Roast: ‘Wouldn’t want to babysit anyone else’

Not just comedians, even the wives got to roast the Jonas Brothers a bit too on the recently-released Jonas Brother Family Roast. The one-hour special was shared on Netflix on Tuesday afternoon.

Priyanka Chopra, Sophie Turner and Danielle Jonas all took turns to roast their husband Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas respectively. Priyanka did not leave any opportunity to take aim at Nick, be it about their age gap or how much more popular she is on Instagram than the others.

Addressing their age gap, Priyanka Chopra said, “Nick and I have a 10-year age gap. There are many 90s pop culture references he doesn’t understand and I have to explain it to him. He showed me how to use Tik Tok for example. You know, and I showed him what a successful acting career looks like.” Her dig left the audience roaring.

She also mentioned how her following on Instagram is much higher than the brothers. “Have you noticed how much content the Jonas Brothers post online? They are always on Instagram, always on their phone. It’s so cute. I’ll tell you why. Because all of them combined still have less followers than me. So I guess the most popular Jonas is @priyankachopra on Instagram,” she said. Priyanka has 70 million followers on Instagram and is the second most followed Indian in the world after Virat Kohli.

“Since we got married, people questioned out marriage. ‘Ah it’s a publicity stunt. How could it be? I didn’t even know how famous Nick was. All I knew that he was Kevin Jonas’ baby brother,” she said.

She even cracked a joke about how she’d not be married to anyone else than Nick, “Unless of course, Chris Hemsworth suddenly became single.”

Priyanka also shocked Nick and the audience a bit with an almost-pregnancy announcement. “We’re the only couple who doesn’t have kids yet,” she said, referring to Kevin-Danielle who have two daughters and Joe-Sophie, who also have a daughter. “Which is why I am excited to make this announcement. Sorry baby. Nick and I are expecting…to get drunk tonight and sleep in tomorrow,” she said as Nick breathed a sigh of relief.

Wrapping it all up, Priyanka confessed her love for Nick but not without another punchline. “I wouldn’t want to babysit, I mean be married to someone else,” she said as Nick left his seat to give her a kiss and a hug.

The roast also features comedians Kenan Thompson, Lilly Singh, Pete Davidson and Jack Whitehall. John Legend, Niall Horan and Dr Phil joined them too.

Ariana Grande joins ‘The Voice’ as a coach, replaces Nick Jonas

Ariana Grande is joining hit show “The Voice,” replacing Nick Jonas as a coach.

The pop superstar, 27, will join the next season of the NBC show, Season 21, alongside regular coaches Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson.

A source told Page Six, “Ariana is a huge fan of The Voice and her management team has been negotiating to get her on the show for a while.

“She is replacing Nick Jonas, who is a [coach] on the current season, but he isn’t leaving for good. Nick will remain on rotation with other stars that have appeared on the show. The chances are he will be back soon.”

Multi Grammy-winning Grande has appeared on “The Voice” in the past, performing her hit “Into You” on the finale in 2016, but did not take part as a coach.

Her most recent album, “Positions,” broke the record for most songs to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and cementing her as Spotify’s most-streamed female artist of the past decade.

Grande said, “I’m so honored and excited to join ‘The Voice’ family! I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time.

“I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists and help to take their craft to the next level.”

Grande also shared her excitement on social media, writing: “surprise !!! i am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson@johnlegend@blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice ! 🤍,” and noting, “@nickjonas we will miss you.”

The battle rounds for the current Season 20 of “The Voice,” with coaches Clarkson, Jonas, Legend and Shelton, continue on Monday, April 5 and April 12 on NBC.

‘Mank’ leads Academy Awards nominations with 10 nods

NEW YORK (AP) — David Fincher’s “Mank” led nominations for the 93rd Academy Awards with 10 nods Monday, and for the first time, two women — Chloé Zhao and Emerald Fennell — were tipped for best director.

Eight films were nominated for best picture. “Mank” was joined by Fennell’s “Promising Young Woman,” Zhao’s “Nomadland,” “Judas and the Black Messiah,” “Sound of Metal,” “Minari,” “The Father” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7.”

History was made in the best director category. Only five women have ever been nominated in the category before. Zhao is the first woman of Asian descent to get a nod — and the most nominated woman in a single year in Oscar history. She also got nominations for the film’s adapted screenplay, editing and, as a producer in the best picture category.

The other directing nominees were Lee Isaac Chung for “Minari,” Fincher for “Mank” and Thomas Vinterberg for “Another Round.”

For performers, it’s the most diverse slate of nominees ever — and a far cry from the all-white acting nominees that spawned the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag five years ago. Nine of the 20 acting nominees are people of color, including a posthumous best-actor nomination for Chadwick Boseman (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”), and nods for Riz Ahmed (“Sound of Metal”), Steven Yeun (“Minari”), Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield (“Judas and the Black Messiah”), Leslie Odom Jr. (“One Night in Miami”), Viola Davis (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”), Andra Day (“The People vs. Billie Holiday”) and Yuh-Jung Youn (“Minari”).

More on the Academy Awards

Davis, who won for her performance in 2016’s “Fences,” landed her fourth Oscar nomination, making Davis the most nominated Black actress ever. Yeun is the first Asian American ever nominated for best actor.

The other nominees for best actress are: Carey Mulligan, “Promising Young Woman”; Frances McDormand, “Nomadland”; Vanessa Kirby, “Pieces of a Woman.”

The remaining nominees for best actor are: Anthony Hopkins, “The Father”; Gary Oldman, “Mank.”

After a pandemic year that shuttered most movie theaters, the best-picture nominees had hardly any box office to speak of. The Oscars won’t just lack blockbusters, it’s going forward with many movies that have barely played on the big screen at all. That leaves streaming services set to dominate Hollywood’s biggest and most sought-after awards.

Netflix, as expected, led the pack with 35 nominations. The service is still gunning for its first best-picture winner, and this year has two shots in “Mank” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7” — a movie Paramount Pictures sold off during the pandemic. Netflix led last year, too, with 24 nominations, but came away with just two wins.

Other streamers were in the mix. Amazon, in particular, was well represented with “Sound of Metal,” “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” and “One Night in Miami.”

The nominations were announced from London by presenters Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The Academy Awards would typically have happened by now but this year were postponed by two months due to the pandemic. They will instead be telecast April 25.

The film academy confirmed Monday that the show will be held at both its usual home in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and the city’s railway hub, Union Station.

In addition to Youn, the nominees for best supporting actress are: Maria Bakalova, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”; Glenn Close, “Hillbilly Elegy”; Olivia Colman, “The Father”; Amanda Seyfried, “Mank.”

In addition to Odom Jr., Kaluuya and Stanfield, the nominees for best supporting actor are: Sacha Baron Cohen, “The Trial of the Chicago 7”; Paul Raci, “Sound of Metal.”

The nominees for best documentary feature are: “Collective”; “Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution”; “The Mole Agent”; “My Octopus Teacher”; “Time.”

The nominees for best international film are: “Quo Vadis, Aida?,” Bosnia and Herzegovina; “Another Round,” Denmark; “Better Days,” Hong Kong; “Collective,” Romania; “The Man Who Sold His Skin,” Tunisia.

The nominees for best original song are: “Husavik” from “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga”; “Fight for You” from “Judas and the Black Messiah”; “Io Sì (Seen)” from “The Life Ahead (La Vita Davanti a Se)”; “Speak Now” from “One Night in Miami”; and “Hear My Voice” from “The Trial of the Chicago 7.”

The nominees for best animated feature: “Onward”; “Over the Moon”; “A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon”; “Soul”; “Wolfwalkers.”

The nominees for best original screenplay are: “Judas and the Black Messiah,” Shaka King and Will Berson; “Minari,” Lee Isaac Chung; “Promising Young Woman,” Emerald Fennell; “Sound of Metal,” Darius Marder and Abraham Marder; “Trial of the Chicago 7,” Aaron Sorkin.

The nominees for best costume design are: Alexandra Byrne, “Emma”; Ann Roth, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”; Trish Summerville, “Mank”; Bina Daigeler “Mulan”; Massimo Cantini Parrini “Pinocchio.”

The film academy and ABC will hope that the nominees can drum up more excitement than they have elsewhere. Interest in little golden statuettes has nosedived during the pandemic. Ratings for a largely virtual Golden Globes plunged to 6.9 million viewers — a 64% drop from 2020 — last month. Though on Sunday the Grammys managed to break through the Zoom trap that has bedeviled other awards shows.

With the notable exception of fueling streaming subscriber growth, the pandemic has been punishing for the movie industry. Production slowed to a crawl, blockbusters were postponed or detoured to streaming and thousands have been laid off or furloughed.

But the outlook for Hollywood has recently brightened as coronavirus cases have slid and vaccines have ramped up. Movie theaters are reopening in the U.S.’s two largest markets, New York and Los Angeles. And several larger movies — including the Walt Disney Co.’s “Black Widow” (May 7) — are scheduled for May and beyond.
