Connecticut mom Sonia Loja’s murder-suicide leaves Danbury community shocked

A mom who sent her kids to the Connecticut daycare of a woman accused of killing her own children before taking her own life said Thursday that she was shocked by the triple murder-suicide.

The woman attended a vigil for the slain family outside their Danbury home Thursday night and refused to believe Sonia Loja, 36, would strangle her three children.

“I can’t believe Sonia did this. I don’t believe what’s happened,” Nube Sucuzhanay, 33, told The Post.

“Sonia was a good person. She loved and looked after her kids and was good with the kids she looked after.”

Sucuzhanay said Loja came to the US from Ecuador about 15 years ago. Sucuzhanay trusted Loja with her own two children and enrolled them in her daycare for seven years.

“I was very comfortable leaving my children with Sonia,” she said. “[She was] just so good with children and so very nice.”

Loja ran an illegal daycare out of her house and told the parents of roughly 10 kids that she couldn’t watch them Wednesday — the same day police believe she killed her own kids 12-year-old Junior Panjon, 10-year-old Joselyn Panjon and 5-year-old Jonael Panjon. Loja then took her own life.

Loja reportedly strangled each child one by one before she hanged herself inside a shed in the backyard of her home, police said. Her husband and father of the children, Pedro Panjon, found the bodies when he returned home and fainted at the grisly discovery.

Sucuzhanay was one of about 50 mourners who gathered outside the home Thursday night for a vigil organized by the area’s large Ecuadorian community. The mourners sang hymns, recited prayers and lit candles for more than an hour.

They created a makeshift memorial for the slain children by placing prayer candles, flowers, white balloons and a teddy bear on the home’s front steps.

A young attendee who went to Saint Peter School with Joselyn from kindergarten to third grade said her late classmate was fiercely intelligent and kind.

“Joselyn was a very smart, creative and helpful person,” Katelyn Jimenez, 11, said. “Joselyn was always there when you needed her. She would comfort anyone going through a tough time.”

Katelyn said Joselyn excelled in math and helped her when she was struggling with math equations.

“To me, it seemed like she lived a good life,” Katelyn said. “She was very positive. She was great at art and music, but she was also very smart at math.”

“I’m feeling sad,” she added. “She was a good classmate and friend.”

Tomas Vega, 31, was among the many mourners who felt compelled to join the vigil in support of the family, despite not knowing Loja or her children personally.

Vega, a father of two, couldn’t comprehend Loja’s violent last act.

“What would make you kill yourself and take the lives of your three kids?” Vega asked in disbelief. “Imagine seeing your first kid dead, then the next one, then the third one. Something really bad must have happened.”

Michigan woman Tirany Savage, three relatives dead after she was denied protection order from husband

A Michigan woman and three relatives died in an apparent triple murder-suicide after she was denied a protection order for her husband — who was among the dead, according to police and a news report.

Tirany Savage, 35, her 13-year-old son Dayton Cowdrey, her mother Kim Lynnette Ebright, 58, and Bo Eugene Savage, 35, were all found dead Sunday before dawn inside a home from gunshot wounds to the head, authorities said.

“All subjects involved had known relationships, and the incident is being investigated as a Murder/Suicide,” the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release Monday.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the many friends and family who have been devastated by this loss.”

It hasn’t been confirmed who the shooter was, but weeks before the tragic turn of events Tirany Savage filed for a personal protection order from husband Bo Eugene, according to television station WPBM. But it was denied by a judge.

She also reportedly was beginning the process of divorcing him.

Tirany Savage said in the protection order that her husband, Bo Eugene Savage (right), had mental health issues and recently purchased a firearm.

Tirany Savage sought the personal protection order against her husband on June 24, writing, “He has mental health issues and recently purchased a firearm and that is concerning to me,” WPBM reported, citing court documents.

“He keeps saying he is going to blow his brains out and I do not want my safety or my son’s safety in jeopardy.”

But that bid was rejected by a judge who wrote she could request a restraining order in divorce court, the outlet reported.

“Insufficient evidence of a showing of immediate and irreparable injury, loss or damage. Petitioner can request a restraining order in divorce case,” the judge wrote, according to WPBM.

Tirany Savage could have requested a hearing because she was denied, but it is unclear if she made that request, according to WPBM, citing court documents.

Three days before she violently died, she filed for divorce, WPBM reported.

The judge, which NBC News says is Troy Daniel, did not return a request for comment when the news outlet contacted his election campaign Wednesday evening.

Apparent murder-suicide leaves 2 kids, 2 adults dead in Colorado

Two juveniles and two adults were found dead in a Colorado home in an apparent murder-suicide, the investigation of which forced the nearby community to shelter in place, authorities said on Sunday.

El Paso County Sheriffs responded to a call on Saturday just after 10 a.m. to a report of a person seriously injured in Gleneagle, a town just north of Colorado Springs, the sheriff’s office said in a statement Sunday.

When deputies arrived, they found 2 children and two adults dead inside of a residence, prompting a request for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit to respond to the scene.

Based on evidence uncovered at the scene, a “reverse 911” call was sent out to the community within a two mile radius of the scene where they were ordered “to shelter in place, lock their doors and windows, and stay away from exterior walls,” officials said.

A Sheriff’s Office Tactical Support Unit was additionally requested to the scene.

Police say they don’t believe there is any threat to the community at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Instagram model Jenae Gagnier murdered by stalker Kevin Alexander Accorto

Authorities believe an Instagram influencer from Texas was killed by a stalker who then stabbed himself to death, according to a report.

Jenae Gagnier, 33, was found dead in her apartment outside Houston Sunday by her father, CBS Dallas-Fort Worth reported.

“What I saw, I wouldn’t want any parent to go through,” dad Mark Gagnier told the outlet.

Gagnier said he “knew something was up” because Jenae hadn’t been answering his calls all weekend. Her apartment was locked, “so I didn’t hesitate to kick the door down.”

He found his daughter dead on the floor at the bottom of the stairs with “her clothes are all torn up and stuff.”

Gagnier said he then discovered suspected killer Kevin Alexander Accorto dying of a knife wound upstairs.

“I go upstairs, guy upstairs with a knife in him, still alive,” the father told the station.

Jenae Gagnier died of strangulation and traumatic concussion, according to the medical examiner.

Accorto, 34, was a crazed follower of Jenae, who went by Miss Mercedes Morr on her popular Instagram account, her parents told the station.

“Unfortunately, someone basically was stalking, and killed my baby,” mother Jeanetta Grover said.

The Instagram model who had nearly 3 million followers, died of “strangulation and traumatic concussion,” the medical examiner found, according to the report.

Police said Accorto, who was from Florida, had no personal relationship with the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
