Moon Knight Episode 5 Runtime Revealed In Advance

Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight quickly approaches the end of its wild run on Disney+, putting Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector into the MCU spotlight for the first time in Phase 4. Each new episode has featured insane reveals at every turn, with Episode 4 going so far as to include the physical manifestation of an Egyptian goddess inside Marc’s head after his interaction with Steven Grant.

Through the first four weeks, fans have gotten their usual round of longer MCU Disney+ episodes, as has been the case with most of Phase 4’s entries outside of WandaVision and the animated What If…?. Before Moon Knight premiered, fans learned that the first four episodes were anywhere from 45 to 51 minutes in length without credits, which proved to be accurate when the show arrived.

Each Disney+ show in total brings anywhere from five to six hours of new content to the MCU, meaning that Episodes 5 and 6 should be in the same range as their predecessors in terms of runtime. Now, a new leak has confirmed that to be the case as fans learn how long Episode 5 will be when it begins airing next week.

Leak Reveals Runtime for Next Moon Knight Entry

Marvel

Reliable scooper Amit Chaudhari revealed on Twitter that Episode 5 of Moon Knight will be 47 minutes long. However, this might not be the exact time that Disney+ ends up showing.

There’s often some slight difference between the runtimes that are reported in advance by insiders like Chaudhari versus the final runtimes which get displayed on Disney+. Much of the discrepancy comes from clocking the time of the entirety of credits, specifically the subtitle language credits which play at the very ends of episodes. Given that early reports listed Moon Knight’s first four episodes as about 2 to 3 minutes shorter than their final Disney+, fans may potentially see a small uptick in Episode 5’s reported 47-minute runtime when it drops this Wednesday.

For reference, the final displayed runtimes for the first four episodes are listed below:

  • Episode 1 – 48 minutes
  • Episode 2- 53 minutes
  • Episode 3 – 53 minutes
  • Episode 4 – 53 minutes

Moon Knight Continues Runtime Trend

Thus far, the runtimes from the first 4 episodes of Moon Knight have totaled approximately 207 minutes, which comes out to just under three and a half hours of story. A 47-minute episode next week would be right in line with how much time remains in total for the series, even with other shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Hawkeye having longer fifth entries.

In terms of story beats, Episode 5 should be jam-packed with action and drama alike as Marc figures out how to come back from the dead and reunite with the Moon God Khonshu. Fans also have to find out what Ethan Hawke’s Arthur Harrow truly has in store with his plan before he engages in one final epic battle with Marc Spector under the moon.

New Promo for Oscar Isaac Marvel Series, Disney+

Image: Marvel Studios

Next week, the MCU’s newest superhero Moon Knight will finally debut his solo series on Disney+. The hype for Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector (or the curiously accented Stephen Grant, depending on who you ask) is very much real, and a new promo for the show offers new footage to hold fans over for the next ten days.

Where recent clips and trailers have been more focused on whether Stephen can tell the difference between his waking life and dreams, this promo is all about how cool the Knight is as a character. While Stephen’s understandably freaked out to learn he has dissociative identity disorder and has been living an entirely different life (well, two, since there’s also the detective personality Mr. Knight), Marc has no trouble explaining how as Moon Knight, he’s capable of protecting the innocent and “deliver justice” using his fighting skills and crescent blades.

After earlier material veered more into horror and blurring reality, it’s admittedly nice to see Moon Knight just be a superhero. It’s fun watching him prowl around the city at night in full costume or leap into action with his cape looking like a crescent moon. Moon Knight’s always been one of the more stranger B-list street heroes of the Marvel pantheon—see the recent Jed Mackay/Alessandro Cappuccio run, along with the 2014 run from Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey. The show looks like it’ll hit that sweet spot of weird, but cool pretty well, such as the sight of Marc doing a twisted magical girl transformation into his full Moon Knight costume.

Stephen will eventually be won over and find some fun in being a superhero, but it won’t be all fun and games. Very briefly, the promo also offers a little more of an idea as to the threats that Moon Knight will face, such as Ethan Hawke’s Arthur Harrow and whatever plans he’s cooking up. (The fact that he tells Stephen to “embrace chaos” and slams a staff on the ground before the camera cuts to a wide shot of purple lightning does not bode well.) There’s also a quick glimpse at Moon Knight running away from a version of the Egyptian god Khonshu (his deity) in midair. In a clip from earlier in the week, Khonshu (voiced by F. Murray Abraham) was seen stalking Stephen at his apartment, and it appears that now he’s done playing nice and wants to get Moon Knight in his claws for whatever purpose.

Moon Knight will premiere on Disney+ on March 30.

Moon Knight Set Video Reveals First Look at Disney+ Action Scene

Principal photography for Moon Knight is underway in Budapest, and one of the first clips from the show’s set has surfaced online. Saturday morning, an Instagrammer shared a clip of a film crew following a cloaked character as they sprint along the street before leaping up into the air, aided by wire work.

It’s hard to make out exactly who the character is, though they do appear to be wearing a hood and donning wrapped-like clothing. That’s leading some to believe this may be Marc Spector himself in action. The clip itself is adorned with the hashtag #themarvels, initially leading to some confusion amongst fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While The Marvels is actively filming, that’s filming in and around London. Moon Knight is currently shooting in Budapest, some 1,092 miles away. The photographer who released the clip, @tibor.proart, is based in Budapest. You can see a capture of the clip below.

As of now, we only know a handful of characters that are appearing. Oscar Isaac is playing the eponymous hero, who Gaspard Ulliel is reportedly playing Midnight Man. May Calamawy and Loic Mabanza have been added in undisclosed roles with A-list superstar Ethan Hawke is expected to play the show’s primary antagonist.

“Well, it’s where I’m at as an actor,” Hawke recently told The Ringer’s The Watch podcast. “A lot of it, to be honest, I love the fact that Moon Knight is a lesser-known story and allows more creative freedom. The director is Mohammed Diab and he’s a brilliant guy.”

“A lot of it is Oscar, to me, to be honest with you,” the actor added. “I find him to be a very exciting player in my field. I like what he’s doing with his life. He reminds me of the actors, when I first arrived at New York, that I looked up to. Oscar’s younger than me, and I like the way he carries himself, and I like the way he thinks. And in general, good things happen when you’re in the room with people that you like the way they think, right?”

Moon Knight has yet to set a release date. If you haven’t signed up for Disney+ yet, you can try it out here.
