Elon Musk’s Response After US Politician Says Her Twitter Was “Bricked”

Mark Ruffalo on Friday also advised Elon Musk to leave Twitter.

US Politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) on Wednesday claimed that her Twitter account was experiencing technical issues after she criticised its new owner Elon Musk on the platform.

“This is what my app has looked like ever since my tweet upset you yesterday. What’s good? Doesn’t seem very free speechy to me,” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

Retweeting, AOC’s post, actor Mark Ruffalo on Friday also advised Elon Musk to leave Twitter and continue running Tesla and SpaceX. “You are destroying your credibility. It’s just not a good look,” Mr Ruffalo wrote.

To this, Mr Musk was quick to reply. “Hot take: not everything AOC says is accurate,” he said.

Notably, Mr Musk’s online spat with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez began when she took a dig at the new Twitter owner over the blue tick fee. “Lmao at a billionaire earnestly trying to sell people on the idea that “free speech” is actually an $8/mo subscription plan,” she wrote.

Replying to her, Mr Musk then reiterated his stance on his blue tick fee and quipped, “Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8”.

Meanwhile, after taking over, Elon Musk has caused a stir with his initial moves. Twitter sacked half of its 7,500-strong staff on Friday. On Saturday, the platform rolled out its subscription-based Twitter Blue service for $8 a month which includes a blue “verified” badge and other features.

According to the iOS notification, other benefits in the update also include “half the ads”, a feature that would allow users to post longer videos and priority ranking for quality content.

Ewan McGregor Appears To Respond To Mark Ruffalo’s ‘Star Wars’ Criticism

By Sarah Curran.

It seems that Ewan McGregor is firing back at Mark Ruffalo after he recently dissed “Star Wars” while praising the MCU.

In an interview with Metro, Ruffalo said, “If you watch Star Wars, you’re pretty much going to get the same version of Star Wars each time … But with Marvel you can have a whole different feeling even within the Marvel Universe.”

McGregor appeared to respond to the “Hulk” star’s comments when asked if he’d ever consider joining the MCU during a fan expo in Boston.

“I don’t know that I want to do that,” said the actor, according to Comicbook.

“Because I love doing all different kinds of work. It’s true. I love to direct. I’d like to be in the theater again. I definitely want to do this again, you know, I’m in this ‘Star Wars’ world. I feel like I don’t need another … I’m not looking for that anyway.”

Both “Star Wars” and the MCU are Disney franchises

McGregor added, “That’s the beautiful thing about how passionate Disney, Lucasfilm, all of us are, who are involved with it is from the beginning is we try really hard not to let anything of the bad just to protect your experience of seeing it for the first time.”

Mark Ruffalo Defends Marvel’s Output With a Side-Eye at Star Wars

Image: Marvel Studios

While on a press tour for She-Hulk, Mark Ruffalo spoke with Metro about Marvel’s use of VFX and the enormity of the output from the studio. While he had only glowing praise for the leaps and bounds that CGI has taken over the past decade or so that he’s been involved with Marvel, he had some stronger feelings about the amount of “content” that Marvel puts out.

Ruffalo said that he’s not worried about the amount of work that Marvel releases. “I understand that these things run their course and then something else comes along. But the thing Marvel has done well is that, inside the MCU, just as they do with comic books, they let a director or an actor sort of recreate each piece to their own style, their likeness.”

A bold claim, considering that even as Marvel attempts to make in-roads into other genres with its work, there’s an overriding same-y tone and need for connection that sometimes frustratingly overrides that. And considering the new allegations about how Marvel films their movies, I don’t think that this is a very strong argument at all. Visual flair is well and good, but if you’re just offering variations on a theme is it really distinct?

Next, Ruffalo continues to dig his grave deeper by poking at the other big franchise that might be able to compete with Marvel’s output–fellow Disney megafranchise Star Wars. “If you watch a Star Wars, you’re pretty much going to get the same version of Star Wars each time… You’re always, really, in that same kind of world. But with Marvel you can have a whole different feeling even within the Marvel Universe.”

The thing is that part of me agrees with him: Star Wars does reuse the same stories and tropes, and seems to have an affinity for desert planets that I cannot truly comprehend, but to compare Marvel and Star Wars and act as if either one is superior to the other on an artistic basis of originality feels like a little bit of throwing stones in glass houses at this point. You’re playing the Hulk, sir, a character that has been adapted in largely similar ways out of the comics ever since Lou Ferrigno’s television Hulk first began airing in 1977, the same year the first Star Wars film released in theaters.

I’m not here to debate the artistic merits of Marvel vs. Star Wars, but to pretend for even a second like directors get more or less control within competing billion-dollar franchises is a fool’s errand. An aside here, but as soon as we start referring to any kind of art (even blockbuster movies) as “content” I feel as if we lose something, culturally speaking. Content feels clinical, it feels transactional in a way that makes me uncomfortable. I don’t want content, I want considerate, thoughtful work. I want people to know that this is handmade stuff, that this is done by real people doing real work. There is no such thing as Marvel content, but there is art, and if we treated these massive cultural moments with respect maybe we’d be able to change the culture.

So look, regardless of your feelings about the amount of work that any individual studio puts out, the fact that any actor is being asked to defend it might be a hint that there is, perhaps, too much out there—regardless of what fictional universe it’s from.

She-Hulk’s Comic-Con trailer spoils a cameo with a better cameo

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law
Photo: Disney+, Marvel Studios

Marvel Studios spent a good chunk of its time at San Diego Comic-Con talking about Daredevil, what with Charlie Cox’s version of The Man Without Fear getting his (second) solo show in Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again and Cox benefitting from the MCU hitting the retcon button haaaarrrrrd in a new animated series called Spider-Man: Freshman Year (where we will apparently find out that young Spidey met not only Cox’s Hornhead but new versions of Norman Osborn and Henry Osborn, plus Amadeus Cho and Nico Minoru, before the events of Captain America: Civil War).

But those aren’t the only places where Daredevil popped up this weekend: He also made a quick cameo in the new trailer for Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law series, flipping into frame right at the end and wearing what appears to be a new costume inspired by his original black-and-yellow outfit from the comics (arguably his worst one, to be honest). The trailer cuts away before you see his face, so this could be some kind of cruel fake-out (get hyped, singular fan of D-Man!), but who else carries billy clubs and does flips like that?

Official Trailer | She-Hulk: Attorney at Law | Disney+

Anyway, the rest of the trailer leans hard into comedy, just like the first one did, with Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters bantering with her cousin Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) as he trains her in the ways of the Hulk and then getting into some fish-out-of-water hijinks when she returns to New York to start a new life as a giant, green attorney. That’s where she meets various superhero-adjacent characters, like Tim Roth’s Abomination (who was in the last trailer), Benedict Wong’s Wong (from Doctor Strange!), and a group of goons who appear to be classic Marvel villains The Wrecking Crew.

That’s all fun! And the implied existence of sex in the first trailer is even more implied here! Wow! But then Daredevil shows up and that’s all we want to talk and think about. Will She-Hulk and Daredevil get to have a courtroom scene? Will this show acknowledge any events from the Netflix Daredevil show? Will we get to see an appearance from Daredevil’s incorrigible twin brother Mike Murdock (who is definitely a real person and not Matt Murdock in a hat)?

We’ll find out on August 17 when She-Hulk: Attorney At Law premieres on Disney+.

While the MCU waits to restart its impressive Phase 4 slate in a couple of weeks, fans now have their first look at a new hero coming in that slate – Kamala Khan. This comes thanks to the first full trailer for Ms. Marvel, which is set to arrive on Disney+ on June 8 before Iman Vellani teams up with Brie Larson on the big screen.

The trailer gave fans a look into the young new heroine’s life as an Avengers fangirl and future Avenger as she takes her place alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Ahead of her first MCU movie alongside Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau, Kamala Khan is set for a whirlwind adventure in learning what it means to be a hero. Setting up a true coming-of-age story for Vellani’s heroine as she deals with school, family, and everyday teenager stuff, this series will be something new in the MCU’s growing legacy.

The first trailer quickly became the talk of the MCU community following its debut, particularly being the next project to debut after Moon Knight and Doctor Strange 2. After the trailer’s release, stars from all corners of the MCU shared their thoughts on what’s coming in the franchise’s 35th project since 2008.

Following the debut of the first trailer for Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel, MCU stars and filmmakers took to social media to share their excitement for the Disney+ series’ release.

Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo praised Marvel for “reflecting the world we live in” and delivering a new diverse hero into the story:

“Marvel breaks new ground! Love you, Marvel for reflecting the world we live in. Welcome to the family, Kamala!”

Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani expects star Iman Vellani to be “amazing” in her solo series, while the trailer brought nothing but great feelings. The Pakistani-American actor/comedian behind Kingo felt emotional seeing more representation for people like him in the MCU:

“This trailer made me feel every positive feeling I am capable of feeling. Iman Vellani is going to be amazing in this show. I CANNOT WAIT.”

Ms. Marvel star Saagar Shaikh shared how “blessed” he feels to join the MCU ahead of his Marvel debut in just under three months:

“I sit in the middle of complete chaos writing this as my apartment gets painted and a few new things get added and old ones taken away. “Yes Bisha K. Ali”

What If…? writer/executive producer A.C. Bradley teased that she had a hand in helping develop Ms. Marvel while sharing how much she can’t wait for fans to see the story:

“Aaaahhhh! I had the huge honor to lend a hand (pun intended) on this amazing show! Can’t wait until the world discovers Ms. Marvel”

Ms. Marvel comic writer Sana Amanat shared the trailer and tagged the character’s creator G. Willow Wilson along with Ali, teasing how busy she’s been:

“Been busy. The #msmarvel trailer is here.”

WandaVision star Julian Hilliard kept his response short and sweet as he shared how excited he is to see Kamala Khan in action:

“So excited for this one!”

Ms. Marvel Bringing Excitement for MCU in 2022

MCU fans and stars alike are always caught up in the excitement whenever a new trailer releases, which is no different from the current moment for Ms. Marvel. Even so, it’s thrilling to see the caliber of actors and filmmakers that are so excited to see this show come to fruition, particularly for the representation it will add to the franchise.

Seeing Brie Larson so thrilled for her The Marvels co-star is something special as fans get ready to see her and Iman Vellani play two of the sequel’s three powerful heroines. On top of that, Vellani getting support from someone with as long a tenure as Mark Ruffalo is certainly humbling as he preps for his own Disney+ show in She-Hulk.

Now, the wait continues to see more of what Ms. Marvel will add to the MCU narrative as fans look forward to this young heroine’s true introduction. Her time around her high school classmates and her family will give fans a new taste of what it’s like to grow up in a world filled with superheroes, even with concerns about how her powers will translate.

Ms. Marvel will debut on Disney+ on June 8, 2022.
