Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik to continue both hosting Jeopardy!

This may be hard to believe, coming from the game show institution that went through a very long run of trial hosts only to give the job to the show’s producer (at least temporarily), but Jeopardy! seems to have gone for the least surprising and least interesting choice when deciding who should be its permanent post-Alex Trebek host. Would it be Ken Jennings? Would it be Mayim Bialik? The two of them have been trading off for nearly a year, but now Jeopardy! has decided that… they’ll both just keep trading off.

That’s according to Variety’s sources, which say that both Jennings and Bialik have “entered into long-term deals” to keep splitting the Jeopardy! host job, with Bialik also doing special primetime versions of Jeopardy! and an upcoming version of Celebrity Jeopardy! (for real, not the SNL sketch, which wouldn’t be as much fun these days for, you know, sad reasons). This comes exactly one month after the show’s producers announced that they would have an announcement about who will permanently host Jeopardy! “very, very soon,” which seems like a real stretch of what “very, very soon” means. But what would the producers of Jeopardy! know about sticking to the exact letter of the law? Surely they’re not sticklers for specificity over at Jeopardy! HQ, right?

It doesn’t sound like this has officially been confirmed or announced by the Jeopardy! producers or Sony Pictures Entertainment, but Variety seems confident that it’s just a matter of letting the ink dry. Or whatever they use on those Jeopardy! answer boards, which are probably digital pens and not actual pens. Either way, don’t be surprised if you keep seeing Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik asking for answers in the form of a question on your TV every afternoon before or after Wheel Of Fortune.

Mayim Bilak, Ken Jennings to remain Jeopardy! interim hosts

This iconic American quiz show still hasn’t decided on a permanent host. What is Jeopardy!?

Once again, Sony still has pushed off inking a permanent Jeopardy! host, announcing that interim hosts Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will remain behind the podium for the remainder of its 38th season.

“We are delighted to let you know that Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will continue to share hosting duties through the end of Jeopardy! Season 38, and Michael Davies will remain as executive producer,” the show’s producers announced via Twitter. “We’re so pleased to have such an excellent and experienced team in front of and behind the camera as we head into 2022!”

After playing musical chairs all last summer, Jeopardy! landed on some guy named Mike really, really wanted to be the host of Jeopardy!—despite him having minimal experience or name recognition (but several sketchy podcast episodes and numerous workplace misconduct allegations). Shortly after that, he stepped down because everyone was really, really annoyed about it.

And so, the show has decided to shrug off any decision-making until, at least, next July, when the gig technically hits job boards again. For her part, Bialik all but dashed any hopes of becoming the show’s perma-host. Her commitments to the Fox sitcom Call Me Kat (a show that definitely exists) reportedly keep her from full-time Jeopardy!-ing.

As for Jennings, despite a few gross tweets, he remains the clear choice at this point. Not that there’s much competition. Fan-favorite LeVar Burton is out of the running, as are the host pool’s two most prominent medical quacks, Dr. Oz and Aaron Rogers. Oz and Rodgers have moved on to running for Congress and devoting his life to the teachings of Joe Rogan, respectively. (Though, Bialik has given them stiff competition in the past).

So the show will continue to be without a permanent host for the time being. Unfortunately, that means Mike Richards only has a few months to get a job as an intern, work his way up to associate producer, navigate the org chart that leads him to executive producer so that he can give himself the job, again.

Armored truck robbery Chicago: Antwon Montgomery, Deandre Jennings charged in deadly ambush, another double homicide, CPD says

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police announced first-degree murder charges Wednesday against two men in the shooting death of an armored truck guard and the wounding of her partner in West Chatham Monday morning.

Antwon Montgomery, 19, and Deandre Jennings, 20, are also charged in a double homicide later that same day in what CPD Supt. David Brown said was a “brazen crime spree.”

Police said it all began Monday morning when four individuals ambushed three security guards while they were moving an ATM in West Chatham just after 10:20 a.m. in the 200-block of W. 83rd Street.

Police said four armed male suspects approached the guards and demanded cash. A female armored truck guard was shot six times, and her partner was shot twice.

Family identified the woman as 47-year-old Lashonda Hearts, and said she’d sustained grave injuries to her heart. Hearts’ 46-year-old partner is still recovering from his injuries after he was critically wounded, but has been released from the hospital.

The four armed individuals, who were wearing all black with masks, drove away eastbound on 83rd Street, police said.

They left empty-handed, but police said the vehicle was captured on surveillance video and private security video a short time later entering a strip mall in the 6700-block of S. Stony Island.

Police said Montgomery entered a Boost Mobile store around 11 a.m. and announced a robbery while brandishing two guns. The clerk complied, and he left with cash and several pre-packaged cell phones.

It was there, police said, where the men turned on each other.

Around 11:30 a.m., police said they responded to a report of a traffic accident and shots fired in the 8700-block of S. Saginaw.

Police found the suspects’ vehicle crashed into several parked cars and a tree. Both the driver and front passenger were found shot to death, with cell phones littering the ground outside the vehicle.

“There’s no honor among thieves,” Chicago Police Supt. David Brown said. “And after the robberies and murder, they got into an altercation with each other and two are deceased and two are charged”

Police credited a 911 caller who reported seeing two men running into a home on the same block. A SWAT team was called and police took the suspects into custody after they surrendered to police.

“We at the Chicago Police Department have a clear message for these individuals,” Brown said. “Commit these crimes and you will be held responsible.”

Area Two Detective Commander Joel Howard praised residents of the neighborhood for helping them piece together the puzzle of a bizarre, violent and deadly crime spree.

“This is the perfect example of how, when a community comes together, they have trust with the police department, we can bring cases like this to an end like you’re seeing now,” he said.

‘Jeopardy!’ champ Matt Amodio gets recognition from Ken Jennings after breaking yet another record

Matt Amodio continued his “Jeopardy!” winning streak on Monday, breaking yet another record in the show’s history.

The Ph.D student from New Haven, Conn. closed out last week’s gameplay with a huge milestone when he unseated James Holzhauer as the contestant with the second-most consecutive wins in the show’s history. With 33 wins at the time — 35 now — Amodio is officially second only to Ken Jennings, who still has a commanding lead at 74 wins.

However, a move Amodio made on Tuesday’s episode during Final Jeopardy actually made the king of the game take notice on Twitter.

‘JEOPARDY!’ GUEST HOST KEN JENNINGS PAYS TRIBUTE TO ALEX TREBEK, TWITTER REACTS

Amodio closed out the show Tuesday with an incredibly risky Final Jeopardy wager that ultimately earned him the highest single-day total winnings in “Jeopardy!” history. Yahoo reports that, after scoring $41,800 more than the next highest contestant, bid a massive $37,000 on the last clue in a move that could have not only cost him the game but his winning streak as well.

Fortunately, he got the answer correct and ended up earning a total of $83,000 in one game.

KEN JENNINGS SAYS HOSTING ‘JEOPARDY!’ IS ‘NERVE-RACKING,’ WISHES ALEX TREBEK WERE STILL HERE

As they always do, “Jeopardy!” fans quickly took to Twitter to marvel at the risky move and congratulate the record-breaking contestant. However, perhaps the biggest honor came in the simple one-word tweet of recognition from “Jeopardy!” master, Jennings.

“Woah,” he wrote in the comments of a post about the big win.

“Now if only I could get that Ken Jennings smell out of the #Jeopardy winner’s podium,” Amodio joked in response.

Amodio was previously asked about being second to the legendary “Jeopardy!” contestant, noting that he has a ton of respect for him.

“Ken’s always been the face of ‘Jeopardy!’ to me, so when I think of ‘Jeopardy!’ I think of him,” Amodio said (via a press release). “To [be] right behind him is a surreal experience.”

If his winning streak continues, Amodio may actually be a contestant on the show while Jennings is the host. It was confirmed in September that Jennings would split hosting duties with Mayim Bialik this season as the show seeks a new permanent host following the controversy that surrounded Mike Richards before he ultimately exited the show.
