An upcoming Apple TV+ series starring and co-created by Jason Momoa has sparked anger after vendors at a farmer’s market learned production would be shutting down the market for two weeks during the holidays.

Vendors at the Kaimu Farmer’s Market on Hawaii’s Big Island expressed their displeasure after learning the Momoa led show, Chief of War, would be taking over the lot the market is normally held at for the next two Saturdays. The Kaimu Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday.

After the market announced that production had shut down the market December 3 and 10, vendors slammed Momoa, 43, and the film crew for taking away business during ‘peak buying season.’

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Momoa and the farmer’s market for comment.

Momoa not only stars in the limited series, but also serves as writer and executive producer, according to Deadline. He created the series, set to tell the history of Hawaii from an indigenous perspective, with Thomas Pa’a Sibbett.

Announcing the closure on Facebook on Halloween, the market posted: ‘The movie crew has requested our market area for another Saturday so we will be closed now for 2 weeks in December, the 3rd and the 10th.’

Needless to say, vendors were unhappy with the news.

Breaking the news: The farmer’s market announced the closure on their Facebook page last month

‘Thank Jason for taking away our lively hood during the busiest time of the year,’ wrote one Facebook user.

there’s no way that it does not affect the bottom dollar of our pocket book. Maybe it’ll make the market place more famous for the future though. Two weekends during peak buying season is a tough one. I have great appreciation for the community vibe as it’s also my community and to spend it in a different one is sad,’ wrote another Facebook user.

‘These are your big Hollyweird sellouts. No surprise. They’re making A LOT of money. Too bad they don’t compensate those little people who lose money, who now can’t feed their families or pay their bills or get their kids presents around Xmas due to this. But like I said, no surprise! At least we’re given some notice and can try to sell more on the alternate weekends,’ another posted.

Not happy: Vendors expressed their displeasure with the news in the comments section

Another raised how the shut down would result in ‘a lot of lost income’ as they suggested holding the market in a different location.

‘That’s a lot of lost income for Puna folks, especially so close to the holidays. Do you think we could hold market in another location?’ one wrote.

One Facebook user suggested selling directly to the filming crew during the closure.

‘Has anyone reached out to Production? They have many, many people to feed all day, every day for a couple of weeks while they’re at the location. Has anyone considered the farmers selling directly to production those two weeks? It may curb the losses they’d otherwise suffer.’

Taking over: The film crew will be shutting down the market for the next two Saturdays, days the market is normally held on

Speaking with TMZ, the manager of the farmer’s market claimed would not be compensating the market of vendors for the closure.

‘We have not been in conversation with them at all as they are leasing the property from the property managers just as we lease the property for the Saturday market. We were told about 6 weeks ago that the property manager was not allowing us to hold the market on the 3rd of December and about 3 weeks ago informed us that we would not be using the property for the 3rd or the 10th. We were not given a choice.’

‘It hits us farmer’s the worst because we now have no venue to sell eggs, for instance. The chickens keep laying whether we have a market or not,’ they continued.

Coming soon: Momoa not only stars in the series, but also serves as writer and executive producer, according to Deadline . He created the series, set to tell the history of Hawaii from an indigenous perspective, with Thomas Pa’a Sibbett; pictured arriving to Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month

Why Amber Heard was almost fired from ‘Aquaman 2’: agent

Outspoken DC Comics fans almost got their wish for Amber Heard to be fired from the upcoming “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” according to her talent agent.

Viewers have petitioned Warner Bros. for months to remove Heard from the superhero film sequel amid her controversial defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Heard’s WME agent, Jessica Kovacevic, testified Thursday during the trial that Warner Bros. claimed it was Heard’s “lack of chemistry” with her “Aquaman” co-star Jason Momoa that almost got her canned.

Kovacevic also discussed the 36-year-old’s career before and after her relationship with Depp, 58, saying Heard should have become a major star after “Aquaman,” which premiered in late 2018 and grossed over $1 billion.

The agent addressed “online rumors” that Warner Bros. wanted to replace Heard in her prerecorded deposition, and also said she believed the studio wanted her out as Princess Mera due to the bad publicity stemming from the contentious court case.

Kovacevic noted that in her opinion, the studio didn’t “want to hire someone who has bad press,” adding, “no one wants that association.”

This comes after “Never Back Down” actress Heard alleged earlier this week during the trial that she “had to fight really hard to keep my career” amid her battle with the “Dark Shadows” actor.

“I lost opportunities. I got dropped from jobs and campaigns. I fought to keep my job and the biggest movie opportunity I had to date [with] ‘Justice League’ with the option to [star in] ‘Aquaman,’ ” she said.

“I had to fight really hard to stay in ‘Justice League’ because that was the time of the divorce,” Heard added. The ex-couple were married from 2015 until 2017.

She allegedly only has about 10 minutes of screen time in the sequel, out in March 2023.

Warner Bros. has not responded to requests for comment about Kovacevic and Heard’s comments. Meanwhile, the aforementioned petition to oust Heard was published in 2020 and has since garnered almost 4.3 million signatures.

Heard also confirmed during the trial that the studio drastically cut down her role, noting they “didn’t want to include me.”

She explained that she was “actively scheduling timing for filming” the action flick up until Depp’s legal team reportedly launched a smear campaign against her.

Heard pointed out in her testimony that “communications” about the film “stopped at that point.”

“I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving any spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another, and they basically took a bunch out of my role,” she told the Fairfax, Virginia, courtroom. “They just removed a bunch out.”

Jason Momoa ‘rebounding with Eiza Gonzalez’ following shock split from wife Lisa Bonet

Jason Momoa is reportedly rebounding with Eiza Gonzalez months after announcing his shock split from his wife Lisa Bonet.

Lisa, 54, and Jason, 42, were together for 16 years and welcomed two children before they revealed in January that they had decided to divorce.

Now multiple People insiders are claiming he has struck up a romance with Eiza, 32, though one source said: ‘It’s nothing serious yet.’

Jason was spotted over a month ago posing solo for the cameras while attending the premiere of Eiza’s latest film Ambulance.

‘They are dating. He cares about her. He’s in a great place, working on Fast X. He’s quite busy and he’s in a good place,’ a source told the outlet.

Reports circulated that Jason had begun living in a $750k RV he had used in the past for location shoots and customized with such amenities as a kingsize mattress.

He was said to have parked the RV at the home a friend whose lived near Jason’s marital home with Lisa, where she was staying with the children.

Not long after the split was announced, a source informed People that Jason and Lisa’s marriage fell apart ‘because of different focuses.’

The insider spilled that Jason’s ‘career is booming’ with the result that ‘he wants to keep working as much as he can,’ while Lisa ‘enjoys her life in LA’ and had ‘no interest’ in traveling with him to ‘every location.’

Conjecture swirled in March that Jason and Lisa were giving the marriage another try, with the speculation going into overdrive after she was spotted wearing his ring.

However by the end of the month Jason assured Access that ‘we’re not back together,’ though he added that he and Lisa are ‘family forever.’

A few years ago in 2018, Eiza had a whirlwind relationship with movie dreamboat Josh Duhamel, who had recently split from his wife Fergie.

She then enjoyed a summer romance in 2020 with Timothee Chalamet not long after his breakup with Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp.

Jason Momoa reportedly living in RV after Lisa Bonet breakup

Jason Momoa appears to be living in a pricey RV parked at a friend’s house in Los Angeles after his breakup with Lisa Bonet.

The “Aquaman” actor, 42, was spotted looking quite comfortable around the $750,000 black camper van earlier this week. The RV is situated at his friend’s pad, near the Topanga Hills home where Bonet, 53, and their two kids live.

Momoa looked less than red carpet worthy, wearing a purple T-shirt with holes and white paint stains splattered across it. His luscious long mane also looked like it could’ve used a good brushing, but his blue jeans seemed clean and slimming.

The “Game of Thrones” alum was also spotted on a quiet walk around the property with his assistant.

While Momoa may have downgraded from his $3.5 million home, his Ford RV isn’t the average camper. The actor had the luxury RV customized by Colorado-based company EarthRoamer.

The star appears to be so dedicated to his second home that he rolled up to the 2018 premiere of “Aquaman” in it.

“He stays in it quite often and has opted to sleep in there instead of getting a hotel on set so he can be by the beach,” a source told the Sun. “He’s really not a private jet, luxury resort kind of guy.”

Momoa’s recent spotting comes two weeks after he and Bonet announced their split after 16 years together.

“The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become,” their joint statement read.

The estranged couple began dating in 2005 and secretly wed in 2017. Their statement emphasized that raising their children, Lola, 14, and Nakoa-Wolf, 13, is still their top priority. Bonet also has daughter Zoë Kravitz, 33, with her ex-husband, Lenny Kravitz.

Momoa’s rep didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Lisa Bonet Appears To Signal Jason Momoa Split In Earlier Interview

Lisa Bonet appeared to hint at splitting from husband Jason Momoa when she talked about entering a “river of uncertainty” and “learning how to be authentically me” in an interview published weeks before the couple officially announced the end of their marriage.

A joint statement shared on “Game of Thrones” actor Momoa’s Instagram page on Thursday said “we have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding ~and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.”

Bonet used similar language during a conversation with longtime friend, the Academy Award-winning actor Marisa Tomei, that Interview Magazine published on Dec. 21, 2021.

“The revolution is definitely here and we’re all feeling the squeeze. If you aren’t, you’re in total denial, and the more you resist, the more you will suffer,” said the “Cosby Show” star.

“Everything is crumbling out there,” she continued. “The personal work is understanding where empire and those archetypes live within us. The revolution is on the inside, and learning to be new in this new world.”

When asked by Tomei what’s currently calling her, Bonet replied:

“Definitely learning how to be authentically me, learning to be new, and following this invitation from the universe to step into this river of uncertainty.”

“We’ve eliminated all this extra noise, and now it’s time to grow our roots deeper into our own values,” she added.

Jason Momoa slaps New York Times for ‘icky’ interview question

There are no stupid questions, but there are “icky” ones, according to Jason Momoa.

The 42-year-old Hawaiian actor went cold during an interview with New York Times journalist David Marchese after the writer asked Momoa if he regretted filming a graphic rape scene during his breakout performance as Khal Drogo on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

The pilot episode of the series saw Momoa’s barbaric warlord Drogo assault and force himself on his would-be queen Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, 34.

When Marchese asked whether Momoa “thinks differently about those scenes today,” he replied, “Well, it was important to depict Drogo and his style. You’re playing someone that’s like Genghis Khan.”

He continued, “It was a really, really, really hard thing to do. But my job was to play something like that, and it’s not a nice thing, and it’s what that character was. It’s not my job to go, ‘Would I not do it?’ ”

The scene was widely criticized by fans at the time for taking liberties with the original story as written by George R. R. Martin, in which the two characters were together consensually.

Momoa then added, “I’ve never really been questioned about ‘Do you regret playing a role?’ We’ll put it this way: I already did it. Not doing it again.”

But the “Aquaman” actor then seemingly gave Marchese the cold shoulder for the remainder of their chat, often offering only terse answers to the reporter’s questions about other roles.

When asked if Momoa would be “able to articulate” what he sees in the future for his DC comics hero, he responded, simply, “No.”

Marchese then turned his attention to Momoa’s upcoming projects, namely “Sweet Girl,” a film which implicates “big pharma,” he said.

“[I’ve] never researched anything like that before. Big pharma’s pretty scary, buddy,” Momoa said of the new role. When asked what sort of “research stood out” in preparation for filming, Momoa backtracked: “I don’t really want to talk about big pharma right now.”

As their time was nearly up, Momoa decided to say his peace about Marchese’s earlier questions about the “GoT” rape scene.

“I wanted to bring something up that left a bad feeling in my stomach. When you brought up ‘Game of Thrones,’ you brought up stuff about what’s happening with my character and would I do it again. I was bummed when you asked me that,” Momoa said.

“It just feels icky — putting it upon me to remove something. As if an actor even had the choice to do that. We’re not really allowed to do anything. There are producers, there are writers, there are directors, and you don’t get to come in and be like, ‘I’m not going do that because this isn’t kosher right now and not right in the political climate.’ That never happens. So it’s a question that feels icky. I just wanted you to know that.”

The Post has reached out to Momoa and The Times seeking additional comment.
