From long-awaited rocket launches to an unprecedented asteroid encounter, the past 12 months in spaceflight have been a doozy. The events of 2022 will be shaping space exploration and commercialization for years to come.

These striking images will let you relive the biggest moments of the year, like the Artemis 1 lunar mission, the DART asteroid deflection test, and the out-of-control Chinese rockets (yes, plural). Good, bad, or ugly, these developments produced a wealth of memorable imagery.

Apple’s iPad Air drops to $500, plus the rest of the week’s best tech deals

All products recommended by Engadget are selected by our editorial team, independent of our parent company. Some of our stories include affiliate links. If you buy something through one of these links, we may earn an affiliate commission. All prices are correct at the time of publishing.

We’re in the thick of the holiday season, so we’re still seeing good deals on a number of gadgets and tech gear we recommend. Apple’s iPad Air, for instance, is down to its second-lowest price to date at $500, while Amazon’s Fire HD 8 is down to an all-time low of $55. The Xbox Series S is still $60 off, and a range of Tile Bluetooth trackers and Samsung storage gear are on sale as well. There are plenty more discounts of note beyond that, so here are the best tech deals from this week that you can still get today.

Apple iPad Air

Nathan Ingraham / Engadget

Apple’s iPad Air is on sale for $500, which is the lowest price we’ve seen outside of a very brief drop to $479 in August. Typically, the 10.9-inch tablet has retailed closer to $550 in recent months. We gave the iPad Air a review score of 90 earlier this year, and we named it the best iPad for most people in a recent buying guide. It’s not cheap, but it represents a noticeable upgrade over the entry-level iPad, providing many of the iPad Pro’s best features at a lower price.

If you want a more affordable model, though, the 10.2-inch iPad is down to $280 and still a more complete package than most tablets around that price. The newer 10th-generation iPad is also on sale for $399; that’s a decent option with a more conveniently placed webcam, though compared to the Air it lacks second-gen Apple Pencil support, a laminated display and a faster M1 chip.

Xbox Wireless Controller

Aaron Souppouris / Engadget

If you need a spare gamepad for your Xbox or PC, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S controller is still discounted to $40, extending the deal we saw on Black Friday. While this isn’t the lowest price we’ve ever tracked, it’s still roughly $10 lower than its usual street price. Just note that, while comfortable, this controller uses a pair of AA batteries by default, not a rechargeable unit.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

Ubisoft

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is one of the higher-profile Nintendo Switch exclusives of the year, a charming and well-reviewed turn-based strategy game starring Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Ubisoft’s cutesy Rabbids mascots. The game only released in late October, but Amazon is holding a one-day sale on Friday that brings it all the way down to $32, which is a $28 discount. If stock runs dry there, note that it’s also available for $40 at Walmart.

Over on Steam, meanwhile, the seminal puzzle game Portal is down to just $1. And if you’re looking for a new tabletop game instead, the classic strategy game Catan is on sale for $25, while the accessible train-themed game Ticket to Ride is available for $24. Neither board game deal is an all-time low, but they both represent the best prices we’ve seen this year.

Samsung storage device sale

Samsung

Numerous Samsung storage devices are on sale at Amazon, bringing a handful of recommended SSDs and microSD cards down to their lowest prices to date. We recapped this sale earlier this week, but the highlights include the 1TB 980 Pro SSD for $100 and the 128GB Evo Select microSD card for $14.

$100 Apple Gift Card + $10 Amazon credit

Apple

If you spend $100 on an Apple gift card at Amazon, you can get a $10 store credit to spend on future purchases at no extra cost. This offer applies to both digital and physical gift cards. If you buy the former, use the code APPLEGC at checkout to redeem the offer. If you use the latter, use the code APPLEPGC instead. Best Buy is running a similar promotion, too, if you’d rather shop there. As a reminder, you can use an Apple gift card for App Store credit, subscription services like Apple Music or iCloud, and/or purchases made at a physical Apple store.

Amazon Echo Show bundles

Engadget

Amazon is running a couple of notable bundle deals for its Echo Show smart displays. First, a bundle that includes the 5.5-inch Echo Show 5 and a Blink Mini indoor security camera is on sale for $50, which is about $15 less than what those devices would cost individually. (The display alone is still available for $35.) Second, the 8-inch Echo Show 8 is still discounted to an all-time low of $70, and you can grab a Kids version of the Echo Show 5 alongside it for no extra cost. It’s also available with a Blink Mini for $85.

We gave the Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 5 review scores of 87 and 85, respectively, last year. The former is a better option for most, as it’s generally faster and has a superior camera for video calls, though the latter can be useful if you’re looking to use the display as a sort of smart alarm clock. Either way, you’ll get the most out of an Echo Show if you already own other Amazon gear and use Alexa often.

Buy Echo Show 8 + Echo Show 5 Kids at Amazon – $70

Amazon Fire HD 8

Amazon

Amazon’s newest Fire HD 8 tablet is back on sale from $55, which matches the all-time low we saw over Black Friday. This is far from a premium device, and you’ll have to put up with Amazon promoting its own services all over the OS. Still, it’s competent enough at the basics if you merely want a tablet for casual web browsing, e-book reading and video streaming every now and then.

For a step up, consider the Fire HD 10 for $90. That’s not an all-time low, but it’s still a decent price for a device with a bigger display and smoother performance.

Logitech and Razer gaming mice

Will Lipman Photography for Engadget

Logitech’s G305 Lightspeed is a wireless gaming mouse we’ve recommended to those on a budget, offering a compact yet comfortable shape, consistent sensor performance and up to 250 hours of battery life through a single AA battery. It’s currently on sale for $28.49 at Amazon when you clip an on-page coupon, matching the lowest price we’ve tracked. Note that the offer only applies to the black model of the mouse, though, not the lilac version pictured above.

If you’re willing to pay a bit extra for a lighter and faster gaming mouse, Razer’s Viper Ultimate is worth a shout, and it’s currently on sale for $60 with an RGB charging dock. This is an ambidextrous mouse with shortcut buttons on either side, though its shape is a bit larger and flatter than the G305. On its own, it normally retails around $70; with the dock, it usually costs closer to $85.

HyperX Cloud Alpha

Rozette Rago/Wirecutter

HyperX’s Cloud Alpha gaming headset is on sale for $55, which isn’t an all-time low but still comes in about $15 lower than its usual street price. Though you can find better sounding headphones for the price, the Cloud Alpha’s profile is still decently well-balanced, its included boom mic should yield few complaints and its design is both sturdy and comfortable to wear for hours at a time.

Tile tracker sale

Tile

Amazon is running a sale on various Tile Bluetooth trackers. The offers include the Tile Mate for an all-time low of $18 and the diminutive Tile Sticker down within a dollar of its best-ever price at $19.60. The Tile Pro is back at its all-time low of $25, while a dual-pack that includes a Mate and a wallet-friendly Tile Slim is $10 off its usual street price at $40.

To be clear, if you own an iPhone, Apple’s AirTags remain a more powerful and precise option for keeping tabs on your wallet, keys or other frequently misplaced items. If you use Android, though, Tile’s trackers are generally the best alternative, with the next largest crowd-finding network and a wider range of designs. Just be aware that only the Tile Pro includes a replaceable battery.

Samsung Smart Monitor M8

Samsung

Samsung’s 32-inch Smart Monitor M8 is down to a new low of $400, beating its average street price over the last few months by roughly $200. The 4K, 60 Hz, VA panel here isn’t the most accurate thing you can buy out of the box, but it’s solid for this deal price.

The M8’s main selling point, though, is that it doubles as a small smart TV (albeit without a tuner). It uses Samsung’s Tizen interface, allowing it to stream Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video and similar apps even when it’s not hooked up to a computer. It comes with a webcam, remote, microphone and built-in speakers, and it can double as a SmartThings hub for compatible smart home gear. You have to actually use this smart TV functionality for the M8 to be worth it, but if so, it’s one of the more versatile monitors on the market.

Apple Magic Keyboard

Chris Velazco/Engadget

If you want to use an iPad Air or 11-inch iPad Pro more like a laptop, Apple’s Magic Keyboard case provides a relatively comfortable typing experience, a smooth trackpad, good weight distribution and an extra USB-C port for charging your tablet. We gave it a review score of 84 back in 2020. The main downside is that it’s wildly expensive, but right now it’s a bit more affordable at $210. That’s not an all-time low, but it’s still about $75 less than its typical street price over the last few months.

If you use a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, meanwhile, the Magic Keyboard for that tablet is on sale for $249 at Walmart, which is within $10 of its all-time low.

Buy Apple Magic Keyboard (11-inch) at Amazon – $210

Sony WH-1000XM5

Billy Steele/Engadget

We’ve seen this deal for past few weeks, but Sony’s noise-canceling WH-1000XM5 headphones are down to $348, which is a $50 discount and tied for the lowest price we’ve seen. We gave the XM5 a review score of 95 in May for its comfortable fit, powerful ANC, 30-hour battery life and pleasing (yet customizable) sound. Right now, it’s the top pick in our best wireless headphones guide.

Buy Sony WH-1000XM5 at Amazon – $348

Apple MacBook Air M2

Devindra Hardawar/Engadget

The entry-level version of Apple’s M2 MacBook Air is back down to $1,049. We’ve seen this deal a few times in recent months, but it still matches the lowest price we’ve seen and beats Apple’s MSRP by $150. The latest Air is the top pick in our guide to the best laptops, and we gave it a review score of 96 in July. Note that this configuration has slower storage performance than pricier SKUs, but that shouldn’t be a major issue on a day-to-day basis unless you’re doing more involved work like editing high-res video and photos. If you need more storage, though, a 512GB model is down to a low of $1,300 at Best Buy.

If you want a more affordable entry into macOS, note that the older MacBook Air that runs on Apple’s M1 chip is still on sale for $800, matching its all-time low. This model has a more dated design than the M2-based Air, but it remains a fantastic value when it’s discounted to this extent.

Buy MacBook Air M2 at Amazon – $1,049
Buy MacBook Air M1 at Amazon – $800

Apple MagSafe Charger

Chris Velazco/Engadget

Apple’s MagSafe Charger is on sale for $30, which is within $3 of the best price we’ve tracked and roughly $7 off its usual street price. There are certainly cheaper wireless chargers, but this one aligns easily with any recent iPhone and can supply up to a 15 W charge, which is a smidge more than non-MagSafe alternatives. You can still use it to charge AirPods and other Qi-compatible devices, too.

Buy Apple MagSafe Charger at Amazon – $30
Buy Apple MagSafe Charger at Walmart – $30

LG C2 OLED TV 65-inch

LG

The 65-inch version of LG’s C2 OLED TV is available for $1,442 at eBay from authorized reseller BuyDig. That’s a new low, but you have to use the code JOLLY15 at checkout to see the discount. Typically, this TV has gone between $1,700 and $1,800 in recent months. The C2 can’t get as bright as a competitor like Samsung’s S95B OLED TV, so it’s best suited in darker or moderately-lit rooms, but it still provides the deep black levels, high contrast and wide viewing angles you’d expect from a high-end OLED display.

Buy LG C2 65-inch at eBay – $1,442

Xbox Series S

Aaron Souppouris / Engadget

If you’re buying for a non-4K TV, the Xbox Series S is worth highlighting at its current sale price of $240. We saw a few gift card deals on Black Friday that effectively dropped the compact console lower, but this is still $60 off Microsoft’s MSRP. We gave the Series S a review score of 85 at launch: It’s a clear step behind the Xbox Series X (and PS5) in terms of power, it lacks a disc drive, and its 512GB of built-in storage isn’t much, but it’s still capable of playing all the same games as its pricier sibling.

Buy Xbox Series S at Amazon – $240

Devindra Hardawar/Engadget

The chief Black Friday deal we saw for Meta’s Quest 2 VR headset, which pairs a 128GB model with the popular rhythm game Beat Saber and the classic horror game Resident Evil 4 for $349, is still available at multiple retailers. Normally, the Quest 2 alone retails for $399.

It’s worth remembering that Meta jacked up the price of the Quest 2 by $100 earlier this year, but this is the best offer we’ve seen in the time since, and the headset itself remains the best option for most people interested in VR even after the price hike. We gave the device formerly known as the Oculus Quest 2 a review score of 89 back in 2020.

Buy Meta Quest 2 bundle at Walmart – $349
Buy Meta Quest 2 bundle at Best Buy – $349

Google Nest Thermostat

Google

Google’s Nest Thermostat is on sale for $90, which is about $25 off its typical street price and within a few dollars of the lowest price we’ve seen. This is Google’s entry-level smart thermostat — it doesn’t have the nicer dial control or remote sensor support of the Nest Learning Thermostat, but for smaller homes, it offers similar energy-saving and HVAC monitoring features at a lower cost. It’ll also support the new Matter smart home standard, something Google hasn’t committed to with the Learning Thermostat.

Buy Google Nest Thermostat at Amazon – $90

Fitbit Charge 5

Valentina Palladino / Engadget

This is another deal we’ve seen for much of the holiday season, but you can still get Fitbit’s Charge 5 for $100, which is within a dollar of the wearable’s all-time low and about $20 less than its usual street price. The Charge 5 is the top recommendation in our guide to the best fitness trackers, and we gave it a review score of 82 last year due to its reliable activity tracking, built-in GPS and full-color OLED display.

Buy Fitbit Charge 5 at Amazon – $100

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook

Lenovo

A configuration of Lenovo’s IdeaPad Flex 5i with an Intel Core i3-1115G4 processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is on sale for $300. That’s $30 more than the all-time low we saw on Black Friday, but still about $70 off this config’s typical street price in recent months. This is the top pick in our guide to the best Chromebooks: The specs here are enough to run Chrome OS smoothly, and in general the notebook’s backlit keyboard, port variety, bright 1080p touchscreen and eight-hour battery life impress for the price.

Buy Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i at Amazon – $300

Vampire Survivors Gets Surprise Mobile Release For iOS, Android

Screenshot: Play Store

Vampire Survivors—which was technically released at the very end of 2021—is on a lot of people’s GOTY shortlists, partly because most people only got around to playing it in 2022, but mostly because it’s very good.

If you’re yet to play it, here’s the basic pitch:

Vampire Survivors, as the name suggests, is all about survival. It’s a pseudo-roguelike wherein you traverse an arena that rapidly begins to fill with all sorts of creepy monsters. Bats, skeletons, mummies, and giant praying mantises all relentlessly converge on your location from the edges of the screen. Luckily, the only thing you as the player need to concern yourself with is navigating this throng; your character auto-attacks with whatever gear you manage to acquire through level ups and item drops.

Previously available on PC, the game had a surprise release on mobile earlier today, turning up for sale on both the App Store and Play Store. While it’s desktop version is available on Steam for a cheap standalone price (its itch.io edition is free), these mobile editions are free to download.

The Apple version (it’s also out for iPads) is here, and the Play Store one here.

It’s funny that it’s now actually out on mobile, since our impressions of the game from earlier in the year specifically said:

Vampire Survivors’ true power, however, is in its near-constant dopamine rush. It feels like a mobile game without all the mobile game bullshit, or maybe one of those mindless Flash distractions you used to secretly pull up on your school’s study hall computers. Not only is clearing the screen of baddies satisfying, but every so often rare, stronger enemies reward you with a treasure chest that showers you in additional items and money for unlocks with a flashy sequence that rivals even the best loot boxes.

You can save some serious dough on the M1 iPad Air 2022 right now

Apple’s 2022 iPad Air which has the same chip as last year’s iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro, is currently on sale on Best Buy for nearly 20 percent off.
The iPad Air slots below the iPad Pro and is the logical choice for anyone who needs a laptop-like tablet without the bells and whistles of the pricier iPad Pro.
It’s powered by the M1 and is the cheapest entry point to the M series chips. The processor is incredibly fast and will handle the most demanding of tasks with ease.
The 2022 iPad Air has a modern design with an aluminum back, uniform bezels, and flat sides. It offers a 10.9-inch screen, all-day battery life, and a dual speaker system.

Instead of the Face ID system, the iPad Air features a side fingerprint scanner which is very reliable. The slate has a 12MP back camera and a 12MP ultrawide front-facing camera with the Center Stage feature.

The device is also compatible with older Apple accessories and will be supported for many years to come, which is not something that can be said about most Android tablets.

It also supports the Universal Control feature, which lets you use a single mouse and keyboard between Mac and iPad, as well as Sidecar, which lets you use the tablet as a secondary screen for your Mac.

Basically, the iPad Air is a cheaper version of the iPad Pro (of sorts) and is totally worth considering if you don’t want extravagant features such as the ProMotion display which is of no use when you are viewing static text or watching a video, Face ID, and the LIDAR sensor.

The 64GB WiFi model, which usually costs $599.99, is $100 off right now and can be yours for $499.99. That’s a pretty awesome discount for a device that already offered the perfect balance of price, features, portability, and performance.

iPhone

For iPhone deals, we’re tracking numerous discounts across the major carriers, so for this section we’ll break things up by carriers instead of by products.

AT&T

AT&T is offering up to $800 off the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max with eligible trade-in and purchase on a qualifying installment agreement. You’ll get up to $800 in bill credits with trade-in value of $130 or higher, and up to $350 in bill credits with trade-in value of $35 to $129.

For Apple Watch deals, if you buy an Apple Watch you’ll get the new Apple Watch SE at no extra cost. Both must be purchased on qualifying installment plans and you’ll have to add at least one new line, then you’ll get up to $330 in bill credits towards the second eligible Apple Watch.

Verizon

Verizon has the iPhone 14 Pro at up to $1,000 off when you trade in your old smartphone on select Verizon Unlimited plans. You’ll even get an extra $200 when you switch from a different carrier to Verizon.

If you’re buying an iPhone at Verizon, you can get a combo deal with an iPad as well. The carrier has iPads for as low as $8 per month when buying a new line and 5G iPhone at the same time, and it’s only available online.

A similar combo deal can be seen for the Apple Watch Series 8 as well. If you buy a select iPhone, you’ll get the Series 8 for less than $6 per month. If you’re okay with older iPhones, the iPhone 13 is just $5 per month when purchasing a new Verizon line.

Visible

Verizon-owned carrier Visible is offering gift cards worth up to $300 when purchasing select devices through the carrier. You can also get a pair of Beats Studio Buds when buying a new iPhone 14 or 14 Pro model.

Mint Mobile

Mint Mobile is offering three months of premium wireless service for free when you buy any three-month plan. Additionally, you can get six months of service for free when you buy a six-month plan and a new phone through the carrier.

Keep up with all of this week’s best discounts on Apple products and related accessories in our dedicated Apple Deals roundup.

WTF?!?! Buy an iPhone 14 Pro, get a FREE iPad, Apple Watch & Beats headphones!

This is, hands down, THE best Black Friday deal (opens in new tab) we’ve seen so far. In fact, it’s the best Black Friday deal we can ever recall seeing.

Right now Verizon is offering a deal on the iPhone 14 Pro (opens in new tab) that could net you $1,900 of Apple kit, including a 64GB iPad (9th generation) and Apple Watch SE (2nd generation), along with a free pair of Beats Fit Pro headphones!

You can save as much as $1,000 by trading in your old device, and bag another $200 when you make the switch. And if you want to buy another iPhone 14 Pro, you can save an extra $800 and rack up another $200.

You need to sign up to a 5G unlimited plan to maximize this outrageous offer, but really everyone should be going 5G at this point in time – and with so much free stuff and savings, it’s more than worth it.

The process of selecting everything so it all lands in your cart is a little longwinded, but hey – when a deal is this ludicrously good, you’re going to have to work for it a little bit!

If you’re still on the hunt for a new iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, or Watch, the best Apple Black Friday deals (opens in new tab) are still going strong.

The iPhone 14 Pro is a serious, pocketable powerhouse. Yes, it’s thick, but its relatively compact footprint and ample camera and power mix make it an enticing option, especially for photographers.

While it’s a shame there’s no pro mode for manual photography, the 14 Pro’s 48MP RAW photos capture excellent results. The automatic mode’s photo processing is also one of the best, if not the best, we’ve seen on a phone. Additionally, while the lack of a periscope zoom is a bugbear when using the Pro, on smaller phones, there’s less of an expectation for a far-reaching zoom.

It’s a mighty phone with a brilliant camera, that’s powerful and lasts a full day. Is it the best camera phone (opens in new tab) of 2022? If you’re an Apple fan who likes more compact phones, absolutely.

Black Friday iPad deals live blog: our pick of the biggest iPad Pro, Mini and Air savings online right now

Refresh

We know you’re here for iPad deals, but you might also like to know that we’ve been busy scouting out the best savings on MacBooks this cyber season, too. Head on over to our live blog for the top deals on both MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models.

One common complaint about iPads is that the entry-level models don’t come with much storage (as little as 64GB) and that you have to pay what seems like an awful lot more to get higher capacities. Fortunately, you can work around this to a certain extent with an external SSD – you can access content from this (samples, projects, etc) using the Files app.

All but one of the iPads in Apple’s current range has a USB-C port (the 9th-gen 10.2-inch model is the outlier), so hooking up a drive is as easy as plugging in a cable. There are plenty of SSD Cyber savings to be found on Amazon US and Amazon UK – we found this Crucial X6 2TB USB-C model on Amazon UK (with read speeds up to 800MB/s) for just £106.99, down from an RRP of £211 (opens in new tab).

Inevitably, the cheapest Cyber Weekend iPad deals tend to be on the WiFi models, but we know that some of you like the data-based freedom that comes with owning a table that has cellular capabilities, too.

If you’re one of those people and you like in the US, it’s worth stopping by the Walmart website, where you’ll find deals on both the 2020 and 2022 cellular-friendly iPad Airs.

The older model is the cheaper option – $569 (down from $679) gets you a 4th-gen cellular iPad Air with 64GB of storage (opens in new tab). There’s an A14 Bionic chip tucked away inside, so it’s certainly no slouch.

If you’re prepared to spend another $100, the 5th-gen M1-powered 2022 iPad Air with 64GB of storage is yours for $669 (down from $749) (opens in new tab)

Amazon UK has taken £50 off the 2022 12.9-inch M2-powered iPad Pro (AKA the biggest and best iPad you can buy) bringing the price down to the still considerable £1,999 (opens in new tab). There’s no getting away from the fact that this remains a lot of money to pay for a tablet, but if this is the one you’ve got your heart set on, any kind of discount is better than nothing.

A keyboard case is by no means an essential iPad purchase – many people get on perfectly fine without one – but if you’re thinking of your Apple tablet as a laptop replacement, or think you might like to use it for typing on from time to time, it’s a good investment.

Amazon currently has this Logictech Slim Folio iPad Keyboard case for just £49.99 (down from £89.99) (opens in new tab), and it’s compatible with the 7th, 8th and 9th-generation ‘standard’ models. There’s no touchpad, but grab a Bluetooth mouse and that won’t be a problem.

It might ‘only’ have an M1 processor, as opposed to the latest M2, but at $799.99, the 2021 12.9-inch iPad Pro is a great buy from Best Buy (opens in new tab). For that money you’re getting a still state-of-the-art tablet with a super-large display, and with the iOS music-making ecosystem now so mature, it might even be able to serve as a laptop replacement.

Here’s a great deal on the 9th-generation ‘standard’ iPad – down from $330 to $270 at Best Buy in the US (opens in new tab) (that’s a saving of $60, numbers fans). OK, it doesn’t have the all-screen design of the other models, but you are getting a 10.2-inch Retina display, A13 Bionic chip and 64GB of storage. Sounds good to us.

Black Friday iPad deals live blog: Top deals on Apple iPad, iPad Pro and more

Refresh

Right now, the best deal on the iPad Pro with the M2 chip, which was released recently, is $100 off the asking price of $1,099 over at B&H Photo – it’s now $999 (opens in new tab).

Now, that’s not the biggest discount we’ve seen on this model. That was when the asking price was knocked down to $784, over at Amazon. But right now, this is the best we can find, if you want to get your hands on the most recent iPad Pro.

If you’re in the US and looking for a good Black Friday keyboard deal for your iPad, the Logitech K380 Bluetooth Keyboard for Mac is $10 off on B&H, now $29.99 (was $39.99) (opens in new tab). And UK users can rejoice too, as it’s £5 off on Amazon, now £39.99 (was £44.99) (opens in new tab)

Over in the US, you can also grab a great discount on the brand new M2 iPad Pro. Right now, the 128GB iPad Pro is available at B&H for $999, down from $1099 (opens in new tab).

Speaking of the latest gear, we’re surprised to be seeing some deals on the latest iPad Pro already. Released just last month, the new high-end tablet features the Apple Pencil’s awesome new ‘hover’ feature – and if you’re hovering over the ‘Buy’ button, £40 off at John Lewis (opens in new tab) might make that decision a little easier.

If you’re considering buying your first iPad, it can be a little intimidating knowing where to start. What’s the difference between the 9th and 10th generation? Do you need an Air or a Pro. Not only does our iPad generations guide have you covered, but Amazon also has a dedicated iPad page (opens in new tab) where you’ll find every deal in one place.

Apple finally brought the entry-level iPad into the 21st Century last month, doing away with the home button and chonky bezels in favour of an all-screen design. And somewhat surprisingly, it’s already available for £20 off in the UK at Very (opens in new tab).

If you really want the iPad to act as a laptop replacement, then a Magic Keyboard is essential. Right now at John Lewis, you can save £20 on the accessory when bought with the awesome iPad Air 5 (opens in new tab), using the code APPLESAVE20.

When Apple announced its new iPads last month, there was a sting in the tale – it quietly raised the prices of existing models, most notably the iPad mini. But don’t despair – right now, the 256GB iPad mini is a whopping $100 off at Amazon, bringing the price down from $499 to $400 (opens in new tab).

We’re calling it – Amazon’s 10th generation iPad deal is the one to beat this Black Friday. Right now, the 9th generation iPad is £60 off in the UK and $60 off in the US – which means for perhaps the first time ever, you can bag an iPad for under $300. And this is no discontinued model either – the 9th generation iPad is still sitting proud in the current iPad line up. In the UK it’s £309 (opens in new tab), and in the US it’s just $269 (opens in new tab).

What’s rarer than iPad deals? Apple Pencil deals. But right now on Amazon in the US, both the 1st and 2nd generation models are on sale, with $30 off the 2nd gen (opens in new tab), and $20 off the 1st gen (opens in new tab).

The 5th generation iPad Air is one of the most powerful tablets around, and certainly gives the iPad Pro a run for its money. And at 15% off, bringing the price down from £669 to £569 (opens in new tab), it’s a bargain at Amazon right now.

If you want the almost latest and greatest, in the UK John Lewis is offering £100 off the iPad Pro 11-inch (5th gen, 2021), bringing the price down from £1,749 to £1,649 (opens in new tab). And this comes with a whopping 2TB storage – which is, let’s face it, as much as you’ll ever need.

Apple is hardly a company known for its budget pricing, so it’s pretty amazing to be able to grab an iPad for just over £300. On Amazon right now, the 9th generation 10.2-inch iPad is a whole £60 off (opens in new tab), available for just £309!

If you’re after the latest and greatest, the 11-inch 2022 iPad Pro, released just last month, is already discounted on Amazon with £40 off – bringing the price down to £859 (opens in new tab).

We were blown away by the 4th generation iPad Air when it first appeared in 2020, and it’s still impressive now. With the all-screen design and Apple Pencil 2, it gives the Pro a run for its money – and in the US right now, it’s down from $599 to $349 at Walmart (opens in new tab)

(opens in new tab)

A super-hot iPad offer this Black Friday comes from B&H Photo, which currently has a very decent $100 off a brand new 2022 12.9-inch iPad Pro, dropping the price to $999 (opens in new tab)

The new iPad Pro is an absolute powerhouse, and to see it for under a grand just a month after its release is a real treat. This particular model comes complete with M2 chip, 128GB SSD and Wi-Fi.

(opens in new tab)

Last month Apple released a new 10th gen iPad, but unlike with other models, it did not supersede its predecessor. Apple has kept the 9th gen iPad in its line-up, which is testament to the capabilities of its entry-level tablet. The good news is the arrival of its younger sibling has meant the 9th gen model price has dropped, and is now available on Amazon for just $269. (opens in new tab)

Retailing for £329, last Black Friday we saw this drop to $299, which was the lowest it had ever been. Then just last month, when the 10th gen was released, it dropped even further to $269, and now that deal is back again.

If you want a tablet that is good for every day use, that can be shared between the family, the 9th gen iPad is more than sufficient. And at this price it’s a total bargain.

(opens in new tab)

Want a portable tablet? The iPad mini is a great option for anyone who needs to work on the go. And right now it’s dropped back down to the lowest recorded price on Amazon UK – iPad mini 2021 with Wi-Fi and 64GB SSD now just £459 (opens in new tab)

We saw the mini drop to this price back in April, but haven’t seen it reduced since. We’ve never seen it cheaper so who knows if the next few days will see a record discount, but being that the tablet retails for £569 in the UK, a £90 saving is a cracking deal.

(opens in new tab)

Morning all, it’s the penultimate day before the biggest retail event of the year officially starts. But we nor retailers could wait any longer. There are already deals aplenty, and if you’re looking for shiny new Apple tablet this Black Friday, this is the place to be.

Kicking our live deals page off is this modest deal on a new 2022 iPad at Very, which knocks £20 off – now £479 (opens in new tab). It might not seem like much, but this iPad is just a month old and so any kind of saving is a very welcome and pleasant surprise.

We reviewed the iPad 2022 (opens in new tab) recently, and have to day, it’s a marvellous little machine. And worth every penny of the increased price tag – especially with money knocked off.

Apple deals live blog: the best early Black Friday deals on iPad, MacBook, AirPods and more

Refresh

(opens in new tab)

When I started this blog, I was fully prepared to be listing amazing deals of 2021 Apple products, but so far, most of the best offers have, unbelievably, been on the most recent 2022 iterations. And this deal from Very is no exception.

Over on Very, the all-new MacBook Air (M2, 2022) has a £124 off the retail price (£1,369), taking it down to £1,225 (opens in new tab). To get this amount off any of Apple’s super-powerful laptops would be a great deal, so to see it on the latest offering is pretty special. It’s hard to overstate the power of this unassuming looking machine – read exactly what it’s capable of (in short, a lot) in our in-depth MacBook Air (M2, 2022) review (opens in new tab)

(opens in new tab)

Oooh, the Apple deals keep coming this morning. If you’re on the hunt for an iPad in the UK, Amazon has a great deal on Apple’s entry-level model. Usually from £369, the 2021 iPad (9th gen) is currently £309.98 on Amazon (opens in new tab) – that’s just under £60 off.

This isn’t the lowest we’ve seen this model (with WiFi and 64GB storage), it went down to £298 back in August, but it’s not far off. The 9th gen iPad was superseded by a new, more powerful 10th gen version last month, but the fact that Apple has kept this around shows just what a brilliant little machine it is for everyday use.

(opens in new tab)

Hi everyone, Kerrie here again. It’s early morning in the UK, and I’ve been dreaming of Apple deals. Lo and behold, I’ve woken up to a deal on the all-new Apple Watch Series 8 – now £399 at Amazon (opens in new tab). Ok, so £20 off might not be the biggest discount, but anything on a product as new as this is not to be sniffed at. We saw some slightly better deals back in Oct (during Amazon’s Early Access sale), so we may well see some more next week. But that’s not guaranteed, so if you’re after Apple’s new smartwatch, this is a deal worth considering.

If you want a larger screen, I’ve dug out the best early Black Friday Apple deal on the MacBook Pro 16 too, and again it’s a record saving. Amazon has the MacBook Pro 16, 16GB RAM, 512 GB RAM for $2,499 $1,999 (opens in new tab). That’s $500 off – again a saving of 20%. I’ve just looked up the price history and can confirm that, like the deal on the 14 below, this is the lowest price yet for the base configuration of this MacBook since it was released last year.

Like I said, for most people’s needs a MacBook Air will do wonderfully offering more than sufficient performance, especially if you go for a 16GB configuration. But if you work in video editing or producing complex 3D visuals, then you might want the performance and efficiency of the M1 Pro or M1 Max-chipped MacBook Pros, which make smooth work of more graphically demanding work.

We’ve been seeing savings of around $400 on some of the heftier configurations for some time now – those with 1TB or more in storage. But there are some big early Black Friday Apple deals on more affordable configurations right now. Amazon has the 2021 MacBook Pro 14 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD for $1,999 $1,599 (opens in new tab). That’s the lowest price we’ve ever seen since the laptop’s release, and a saving of $400, or 20%.

I should point out that there are discounts about on the newer M2 2022 MacBook Air  in the UK too. The best price I’ve seen so far is at Very, which has the base 8GB configuration reduced from £1,249 to £1,109 – a saving of £140 (opens in new tab).

I’ve been scouring the web for MacBook deals again, trying to work out what the current best-value deal is on an Apple laptop. For most people’s needs, a MacBook Air will do brilliantly, and we mentioned earlier on that B&H Photo has Apple’s latest laptop, the M2 MacBook Air reduced by $130 to $1,269 (opens in new tab) for a 16GB RAM configuration. If you don’t need that much memory, Amazon has cheaper 8GB configurations from $1,199 $1,099 (opens in new tab)

But the cheapest MacBook we can buy right now – and I suspect through all of Black Friday – is the previous M1-chipped model. Amazon has the 2020 MacBook Air reduced by $200 from $999 to $799 in the US (opens in new tab) and reduced from £999 to £877.99 in the UK (opens in new tab).

Sticking with Apple Watch for the moment, if you’re not set on the latest model, then there are some decent early Black Friday Apple deals on the Apple Watch Series 7 right now on both sides of the Atlantic.

It’s Amazon again. In the US, you can get the Apple Watch Series 7 45mm GPS for $429 $369 (opens in new tab), though it seems discounts are only available on the 45mm in red. In the UK, Amazon has the 41mm Apple Watch 8 for £369 £319 (opens in new tab).

We were pretty surprised yesterday to find an early Apple Black Friday deal on the new Apple Watch Series 8. Amazon has the 41mm GPS Apple Watch Series 8 for $399 $349 (opens in new tab) and the 45mm GPS Apple Watch Series 8 for $429 $379 (opens in new tab), a saving of $50. Not bad at all considering that the Watch was only released two months ago today.

Well, now there’s good news for those in the UK too. Amazon UK has just dropped its price for the Apple Watch 8 by £20. That means you can get the Apple Watch Series 8 41mm GPS for £419 £399 (opens in new tab). The 45mm is £449 $429 (opens in new tab). Not so generous as the US deal, but still very welcome on such a new product.

These are the first discounts of any kind that we’ve seen on Apple’s latest smart watch, and they’re surprising both for coming so soon after its release and also so early, ahead of the official Black Friday week.

Hi, this is Joseph Foley, taking over from Kerrie for a while as we continue to track the best early Black Friday Apple deals.

Now then, the Pro Display XDR is one of the most expensive products in Apple’s current line up, so if you’re going to splash out a small fortune for a screen, you really want to make sure it’s when there’s a Black Friday deal on. And right now there is, if you’re quick. Amazon has the 32-inch Retina 6K Apple 32-inch Pro Display XDR for $5,999 $5,499 (opens in new tab)

Yes, that’s still outrageously expensive, but it’s a saving of $500 and the lowest price we’ve seen in well over a year – Amazon last had the display at this price for a few days back in September 2021. If you can splash this much for a beautiful screen, you’ll want to be quick though. There are only 16 left in stock right now. Just remember to make sure you have some cash left over if you want a stand as well – Apple famously sells the Pro Display’s Pro Stand separately VESA Mount Adapter are sold separately – for almost $1,000 (opens in new tab).

(opens in new tab)

If you’ve now totally lost track on which AirPods iteration Apple is on, you’re not alone. After double (and triple) checking, I can confirm the most recent model is the AirPods Pro (2nd generation), which retail at £249 on the Apple store. However, if these are the wireless headphones you want, you can save a cheeky tenner over at Amazon UK, where they are now £239 (opens in new tab).

(opens in new tab)

Time for you guys in the UK now. Once again, this deal comes on an all-new 2022 Apple product – and this time it’s the turn of the iPad Pro. The 6th gen 12.9-inch iPad Pro is currently £1,319 at Very (opens in new tab), that’s £50 cheaper than if you were to buy this 256GB version directly from Apple.

It might seem like a lot upfront, but divide this by the amount of years this device will serve you and it offers excellent value – especially with an extra £50 off.

(opens in new tab)

Well, the surprise discounts just keep coming. This time it’s on the all-new MacBook Air (M2, 2022). Released in June this year, this powerhouse of a machine is a firm favourite here at CB, and right now you can get $130 off Apple’s latest super-thin laptop over at B&H Photo – now $1,269 (opens in new tab)

To buy this model, which features an 8-core chip and 8-core GPU and 16GB memory, directly from Apple would cost $1,399, so this deal will be hard to beat this Black Friday.

(opens in new tab)

Hello Apple fans! Kerrie, CB editor here. I wasn’t expecting to start talking about amazing Apple deals for another week, but it seems like retailers across the globe simply can’t wait any longer – the Apple Black Friday deals are here. Hurrah!

I should say, these early deals we’re seeing are pretty impressive (and trust me when I say I’ve seen more than a few to know when they’re good), but the official Black Friday event starts next Friday (25 Nov), so it’s worth noting retailers may well hold back their very best offers until then.

But if, like them, you can’t wait to get involved, there’s some cracking discounts around already. One of the best I’ve seen so far is over at B&H, where you can get $50 off a brand new 2022 Apple iPad (10th gen) – now down to $399 (opens in new tab). In a vibrant blue and complete with 64GB storage, this is the cheapest you’ll find this model on the web right now.

Little more than two after hitting store shelves, Apple’s 10th-generation iPad is on sale with a discount that makes it much easier to recommend the tablet. B&H has discounted the base 64GB model with WiFi to $399. The catch is that the deal only applies to the blue colorway. If you don’t mind the choice of color, you’ll want to act fast as the promotion ends tomorrow evening – or, more likely, when supplies quickly run out.

Buy Apple iPad at B&H – $399

The 10th-generation iPad features several upgrades over its predecessor, but a more expensive price tag and odd design decisions make it less of a straightforward purchase. Engadget Deputy Editor Nathan Ingraham gave the tablet a score of , praising Apple’s decision to include a landscape-oriented front-facing camera and USB-C charging. The iPad’s fast A14 Bionic processor was also a highlight, as was the more than 10 hours of battery life he found he could get out of the device. However, the fact the new model is $120 more expensive and only compatible with the first-generation Apple Pencil means it lands in an awkward place among Apple’s other tablets. At $399, those flaws are easier to overlook.
