Heidi Klum unrecognizable in elaborate giant worm costume at her New York City Halloween bash
Heidi Klum revealed her highly-anticipated Halloween costume on Monday night, shocking and terrifying Instagram users as a realistic-looking gigantic worm.
The former model, who throws extravagant Halloween bashes every year, is known for her love of epic costumes. She held her 21st Annual Halloween Party on New York City’s Lower East Side.
Her spooky get-up was part of a couple’s costume. Her husband, Tom Kaulitz, was dressed as a fisherman with a bloody eye.

Amazon Prime’s Instagram page posted a video of Klum’s outfit. The “America’s Got Talent” judge was seen spinning around in the astonishing costume.

“Trick or treat, now to see who I will be,” Klum is seen mouthing before the dramatic reveal. “Happy Halloworm! love, @heidiklum,” the caption read.
Klum, 49, previously told Fox News Digital that she enjoys hosting Halloween bashes to encourage people to “step out of their comfort zone” for the night.
“I think it is fun for people to be someone else for the night,” Klum said of the party, which was presented by Now Screaming x Prime Video and Bailey’s Irish Cream Liqueur. “I think that people in general love to be scared.”

Colonoscopy screening by Heidi Klum raises awareness of process after she was ‘late to the party’

“America’s Got Talent” judge Heidi Klum recently had some memorable photos taken not of herself — but of her colon.
And she’s using it to raise awareness about the importance of colon cancer screening.
The 49-year-old recently shared during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that she received a colonoscopy while celebrating her three-year wedding anniversary with her husband, German guitarist Tom Kaulitz.

He has a type of migraine known as cluster headaches — so the pair went on a health retreat in Austria.
“Usually I have my photo taken from the outside, but they were all in there,” Klum told comedian Nicole Byer, who was the guest host for the late-night show two weeks ago.

She learned that the intestine is 8 meters long but admitted “the pictures didn’t come out so well.”
What is a colonoscopy?
A colonoscopy is a screening test often performed by a doctor who specializes in the gastrointestinal tract. The screening is done a person who does not have any symptoms to look for disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
“There are multiple ways to screen for colon cancer, including colonoscopy, stool tests and by imaging (virtual colonography),” said Dr. Avinash Ketwaroo, gastroenterologist and associate professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine in Connecticut.
“Colonoscopy has the advantage of allowing for the detection and removal of precancerous polyps during the same procedure.”
Nearly all colorectal cancer develops from abnormal growths in the colon or rectum, which are known as precancerous polyps, per the CDC.
The health agency noted that a colonoscopy will show if there are any precancerous polyps — so that those can be removed before they have a chance to turn into cancer.

“Colonoscopy has the advantage of allowing for the detection and removal of precancerous polyps during the same procedure, and therefore can prevent colorectal cancer,” said Dr. David Greenwald, director of clinical gastroenterology and endoscopy at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Benefits outweigh the risks for most people
Greenwald told Fox News Digital that a colonoscopy is generally safe and well tolerated with minimal risks, though there are some complications to be aware of before consenting to the procedure.
These include complications related to sedation and bleeding risks as well, “which is estimated to occur in about one in 1,000 procedures.”
“For colonoscopy, the benefits of detecting and preventing colorectal cancer are substantial and far outweigh the risks.”
Because a scope is passed into the colon, another rare complication is “perforation, or making a hole in the intestine, which occurs in about one in 3,000 to 1 [in] 5,000 procedures.”
Greenwald said that “all medical procedures have risks. For colonoscopy, the benefits of detecting and preventing colorectal cancer are substantial and far outweigh the risks.”
Don’t fret the ‘prep’
Still, many patients are cautious about having a colonoscopy because the colon needs to be cleared of stool. The preparation requires frequent trips to the restroom prior to the procedure.
“Preparation for colonoscopy is often considered to be the worst part of the procedure — comedians have made entire routines about this very topic,” Greenwald added.
Although other screening tests are available to detect polyps, a colonoscopy needs be performed later to remove them if a polyp is detected during the test.

“However, newer and better tasting preparation solutions are available, and it is possible to achieve complete colonoscopy preparation with lower volumes of fluid than was previously thought.”
And when the “prep” is then complete — with that lower volume of fluid and better tasting solutions — it is generally “not as bad as people are expecting it to be,” Greenwald noted.
But some people would just rather choose a less invasive screening approach.
Stool tests and other screenings
Greenwald told Fox News Digital that although other screening tests are available to detect polyps, a colonoscopy needs be performed later to remove them if a polyp is detected.
Some less invasive screening tests are the stool-based tests that look for blood in the stool, such as FIT, or fecal immunochemical testing, he added.
“Colonoscopy remains the most effective way to reduce your overall risk of developing colon cancer.”
These tests are generally done annually; a patient receives a test kit and uses a stick or brush to obtain one or more small stool samples, according to the CDC.

The samples are then returned to a lab, where they are checked for the presence of blood.
Another type of stool test is known as FIT-DNA testing that looks for both blood in the stool and “abnormal pieces of DNA that might come off polyps or cancer,” which is commercially known as Cologuard, Greenwald noted.

This test, which is done once every three years, requires the patient to collect a complete bowel movement, which is then sent to a lab to look for “altered DNA” and for the presence of blood, per the CDC.
“Colonoscopy remains the most effective way to reduce your overall risk of developing colon cancer,” said Ketwaroo. “It allows us to find precancerous polyps and remove them, and to identify colon cancer earlier when it is more easily treated.”

It’s a more efficient “one-step approach” compared to the “two-step approach with stool-based testing, where if the stool test is abnormal, the second step, a colonoscopy, is then necessary to complete the screening continuum,” Greenwald added.
When should you get a repeat colonoscopy?
A colonoscopy is generally recommended every 10 years in average-risk individuals by national guidelines, Greenwald noted.
But stool tests, however, need to be done more frequently to be as effective.

Klum admitted she was “a little late to the party” to get a colonoscopy because she’s turning 50.
“Recently, the recommended age to have your first screening test was lowered to 45 from 50 years of age,” Ketwaroo said.
“This reflects a growing awareness of younger patients [having] colon cancer.”
Klum said her colonoscopy was normal.

But if a colonoscopy shows precancerous polyps — then, depending on the type of polyp, “a shorter interval, often three or five years, is necessary when colon polyps are detected on the initial exam,” Greenwald noted.
“Patients who have colon polyps once are at higher risk for having colon polyps subsequently and require more intensive surveillance.”

Calling it “one of the biggest challenges,” Heidi told ET that she felt it was “my fault” for having trouble conceiving, adding, “I felt like I was older. I felt a little bit maybe broken down with it. I just felt like maybe I missed an opportunity, maybe I made a bad choice.”
However, the reality star acknowledged that she was grateful for the life, opportunities and family that she and Spencer had created.
“I’m so blessed and I’m healthy and I have a beautiful son, so I don’t wanna sound ungrateful at all because I am so grateful for everything that I have,” she shared. “At the same time, I was just hoping to have one more chance to be a mom to a little baby and to have that opportunity for my son to experience having a sibling.”
Now, Heidi is reminding herself to enjoy each day of her pregnancy as it comes.
“I need to remember to just slow down, enjoy the time because this might be my last pregnancy—it most likely will—so I’m just trying to enjoy it as much as I can and soak it up and remind myself,” she said. “I personally love being pregnant. I think it’s one of the most incredible experiences. It’s such a miracle. It’s such a blessing and so, I just wanna really embrace it.”

Although the path to conceiving their second child was not an easy journey, the reality star discussed how much she wanted another baby and sibling for Gunner.

‘I just felt like something was missing,’ the blonde beauty stated to Us Weekly. ‘I felt like a person was missing in our family that I had this intense love for.’
Now that the difficult hurdles are out of the way, the family can take a deep sigh of relief and begin to prepare.
‘There are definitely different challenges and some nerves that are coming up with having a second child,’ Heidi added.

The couple married got married in 2008 by eloping to Mexico, but had an official wedding ceremony in 2009. They welcomed their son in 2017.
The actress and model recently announced another big change in her life aside from being pregnant with baby number two.
On The Perez Hilton Podcast, The Hills alum stated that she needed a new source of financial stability and was going to leap into real estate.
‘I don’t want to be waiting on TV money,’ she said. ‘We’ve spent way too much of our money.’ Heidi even explained how she was already taking classes, showing how serious she was about the new career move.

Infamous Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss has vowed to leave her Nevada home after someone shot one of her parrots, according to a report.
Fleiss, known for the prostitution ring she once ran in Los Angeles, claims someone injured one of her macaws with a shot from a pellet gun right before Christmas, and she is now offering $5,000 for information helping arrest the culprit.
The former madam, who counted Charlie Sheen as a client and once served 20 months in federal prison for tax evasion, has lived in Pahrump, about an hour west of Las Vegas, for 15 years.
The bird, named Chuey, is five years old, Fleiss told the Pahrump Valley Times, adding she kept the pellet a vet removed from her bird’s leg as evidence.
“Everyone knows they’re my birds and they really enjoy them,” Fleiss told the outlet. “When [the bird] came home in the late afternoon, she fell and that’s when I noticed there was something wrong with her leg.”
She vowed revenge on the fowl fiend who injured her pet.
“I want to castrate him, I want them to get the death penalty for shooting my little Chuey, who was just flying around doing nothing — and they shoot her,” she told the paper. “I want them to have the death penalty because everyone in the subdivision knows her and they love her.”
So now she’s flocking to Missouri, where Fleiss, 56, bought a 50-acre forest for herself and her feathered friends.
“My birds will be out of here by the end of February. I think the best moments of my life have been here with my birds, watching them fly and explore and seeing them have freedom from years of sitting in cages,” she said. “It’s really been an incredible experience and I’ve had some of the best times of my life here — but unfortunately, the worst.”
Heidi Montag didn’t speak to her mom after plastic surgery
Heidi Montag revealed she didn’t speak to her mother for two years after she criticized her post-plastic surgery appearance on The Hills.
The reality star joined Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she got real about the aftermath of her undergoing 10 surgical procedures in one day in 2010. At the time, Montag was just 23, and a household name thanks to her time on MTV’s Laguna Beach spin-off series The Hills.
However, while Montag enthusiastically went under the knife, and spoke about doing so on The Hills, her mother, Darlene Egelhoff, was not so receptive to Montag’s changed appearance. Through tears, Egelhoff told Montag, “I mean, how do I go and say that, of course, I thought you were more beautiful before?”
Speaking to Cooper on Call Her Daddy, Montag shared that the moment was particularly painful, in part because she had asked her mom not to film with her on The Hills if she couldn’t be supportive.
“I said to my mom before I filmed with her, ‘Hey, I’m very vulnerable right now. I hardly can talk. I can barely move my jaw. I just had all these procedures. If you can’t rile behind me and support me, don’t film with me. I said it’s not worth it. I’m telling you right now, I’m not going to be able to talk to you,'” she explained. “And I didn’t talk to her for two years after that, because I told her ahead of time, and she said ‘I’m not going to be that way.'”
“I was heartbroken,” she said. “I literally had never been so heartbroken in my entire life.”
Montag also shared that while stars are more open (to a certain extent) about plastic surgery now than they were in 2010, she was hardly the only celebrity who had extensive work done.
“People from the beginning of Hollywood had been getting surgery,” she said. “I literally probably got as many surgeries as A-list actors that day… And it was free. Do you think I would have gotten all that surgery if it wasn’t? Not really. That’s expensive. It was probably like $200,000 or more… It was expensive, what I did. And then to do that, it did cost me a lot more. It cost me my career at the time, and it did cost me my mom and my family.”
Montag, who now stars on The Hills: New Beginnings with her husband Spencer Pratt, shared in a 2019 interview with Cosmopolitan that her desire to have plastic surgery came after receiving criticism of her looks online.
“I was way too young to make such a life-changing decision,” Montag told the magazine. “I was under so much pressure because it was the beginning of comment sections and negativity and hate on the internet.”
She also offered advice to other people who want to fix their insecurities with surgery, telling the outlet, “If you’re having those kinds of thoughts and issues, it’s important to seek advice from those you love and professionals who want to help. Figure out why you feel that way and what’s behind it.”
