Nets’ Kyrie Irving confronts wrong fan after getting heckled

Something that was said angered Kyrie Irving enough for the Nets star to confront a fan on his way back to the visiting locker room Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Television cameras showed Irving quickly turning back after passing two fans at a turn on his way back to the locker room at halftime of the Nets’ eventual 110-98 win over the Knicks.

“East Coast basketball at its finest, people just yelling random s–t from the crowd,” Irving told reporters after the game. “Wanted the reaction, they got one.”

The All-Star caliber guard had a few words with one of the fans, who appeared to snap a quick cell phone photo of the Nets star. Irving, who appears to be asking: ‘Who said it?” in the video, did say it was not the person he talked to who was the culprit.

“I think I tapped the wrong person, so I apologize to the random guy that I tapped,” Irving said. “He looked at me with a big surprise on his face. I didn’t mean to tap him. Somebody said something and I was just fed up with our performance.”

Irving, who had 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the win, became a polarizing figure this season after his decision not to conform to New York City’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates. It left him unable to play in home games at Barclays Center and MSG until new Mayor Eric Adams last month announced an exemption to the rule for athletes and performers.

Biden heckled in New Jersey for stranding Americans in Afghanistan: ‘He will leave you behind’

President Biden was heckled for stranding Americans in Afghanistan while he surveyed the damage from Hurricane Ida in New Jersey on Tuesday.

Biden was visiting a neighborhood in Manville and speaking to police when onlookers erupted over the president’s handling of the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan.

DEM SEN. BLUMENTHAL ‘FURIOUS’ OVER BIDEN ADMIN DELAYING AMERICANS TRYING TO LEAVE AFGHANISTAN

“My country is going to s— and you’re allowing it!” one woman yelled off camera, according to C-SPAN’s footage of the encounter. “And I’m an immigrant and I’m proud of this country! I’d give my life for this country. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.”

“All this for a f— photo-op?” one man scoffed off camera. “You ain’t gonna do s—!”

“My best friend died in 2011 in Afghanistan for what?” a man asked angrily. “For this guy to pull this s—? You leave them in ruins and leave Americans behind!”

“He will leave you behind – you guys protecting him,” he said to the police officers assisting Biden.

“Leave no American behind!” the first woman screamed.

Biden appeared to pay no attention to the hecklers.

The president has repeatedly defended his handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal despite breaking his promise to keep troops in the now-Taliban-led country until every American was out. The State Department now estimates there are roughly 100 Americans still trying to flee.

Biden heckled at Terry McAuliffe rally, plagued by another small crowd

President Biden was heckled by an audience member during an appearance in Virginia on Friday and stopped his speech to address the individual.

“That’s OK, that’s alright, let him talk,” Biden said as the crowd began to stir when an unknown individual started yelling from the back.

“Look, it’s not a Trump rally let him holler, no one’s paying attention,” he added, causing Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe, the Democrat Biden was there to support, to chuckle and clap in the background.

BIDEN ADMIN RIPPED BY FOREIGN POLICY THINK TANK FOR INVITING U.N. ENVOY ON RACISM TO ASSESS U.S.

It was unclear what the individual was yelling but reporters on the scene suggested he was saying “Stop Line 3!” in reference to an Enbridge pipeline project.

Biden was in Virginia to raise money for McAuliffe, who previously served as the commonwealth’s governor from 2014 to 2018. He is now running against Republican businessman Glenn Youngkin, who is backed by Donald Trump, for the position.

PSAKI REFUSES TO GIVE NUMBER OF BREAKTHROUGH WH COVID CASES: ‘WHY DO YOU NEED THAT INFORMATION?’

“Terry and I share a lot in common – I ran against Donald Trump and so is Terry,” Biden said. “And I whipped Donald Trump in Virginia and so will Terry.”

Recent polling shows McAuliffe with a narrow four-point lead over Youngkin.

Approximately 500 people attended the event, which left the venue roughly half empty. On YouTube, fewer than 500 people were watching on the main channel streaming the event channel at any given time.

The paltry crowd size mirrored an event earlier this week at a CNN town hall event where Biden was criticized for speaking to a half-empty room.

LeBron James heckled by fans during Lakers game, refs briefly stop play

There were a limited number of fans in Atlanta, Ga., Monday night due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that didn’t appear to stop Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James from getting in a heated argument with some along the sidelines.

Hecklers appeared to jaw with James during the fourth quarter of the contest between the Lakers and the Atlanta Hawks, which led to referees stopping play and security getting involved, according to a video of the incident posted on Twitter.

The fans in question were allegedly two women who were escorted from State Farm Arena. One of them gave the middle finger on her way out, according to The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner.

James appeared to shake off the incident, scoring 21 points, as the Lakers defeated the Hawks 107-99.

“At the end of the day, I’m happy fans are back in the building,” James said after the game. “I miss that interaction … We as players need that interaction.”

Last week, a Cleveland Cavaliers executive celebrated a missed shot from James at the end of the 3rd quarter during a game between the Lakers and Cavs. James would explode in the 4th quarter leading his team to a 115-108 victory in the contest.
