What Happened With ‘Hawkeye’ Actor Jeremy Renner? Details Here

Mr Renner is in “critical but stable condition” after the injury.

Marvel actor Jeremy Renner was airlifted on Sunday after the safety feature on his Snowcat plow failed and sent it rolling over his legs. According to TMZ, the ‘Hawkeye’ actor was alone and trying to clear a path out of his Lake Tahoe home when the machine accidentally ran over one of his legs, causing him to lose a significant amount of blood.

Speaking to the outlet, eyewitnesses said that Mr Renner was plowing the road about a quarter mile from his home so that his family could get out after a massive New Year’s eve storm. The plowing machine – called a Snowcat – then accidentally ran over one of his legs.

According to TMZ, after the freak accident, the area was treated like an active crime scene. One of Mr Renner’s neighbours, who’s a doctor, managed to place a tourniquet on the ‘Avengers’ star’s leg until paramedics arrived to fly him to the hospital. His injuries are “extensive” as along with his leg, other parts of his body have also been injured, the media outlet reported.

In a statement, Mr Renner’s spokesperson previously said that the actor was in “critical but stable condition” after the injury. “His family is with him, and he is receiving excellent care,” the spokesperson added.

Mr Renner has a house in the Mount Rose-Ski Tahoe area. Last month, the actor shared several updates on social media as Lake Tahoe received large amounts of snow. “Nearly done with sledding hill for the kids,” he wrote on an Instagram story showing a snow plow last week. “Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke,” he separately wrote on Twitter while sharing an image of a vehicle covered in snow.

The 51-year-old has played ‘Hawkeye’, a member of Marvel’s Avengers superheroes team, in several movies and a television series. Mr Renner has also twice been nominated for an Oscar, for his role in ‘The Hurt Locker’ and ‘The Town’

Currently, he is appearing in ‘Mayor of Kingstown’, which is streaming on Paramount+. The series is created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon and produced by 101 Studios, Bosque Ranch Productions, MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Network. The second season of the show is set to debut later this month.

Navy IDs officer killed in E-2D Hawkeye crash off Virginia

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The Navy on Friday identified the service member who died Wednesday in the crash of an E-2D Advanced Hawkeye in the waters off Virginia.

Lt. Hyrum Hanlon was on the aircraft, which was assigned to the Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 120 in Norfolk, when it went down during routine flight operations near Wallops Island and Chincoteague, Virginia, the Navy said.

NAVY BARRED FROM ACTING AGAINST RELIGIOUS VACCINE REFUSERS

Hanlon was commissioned as a naval officer from Arizona State University in May 2017. He joined the VAW-120 on Jan. 31, 2021.

“It takes a courageous and patriotic person to devote their life to the selflessness of serving in the armed forces,” Cmdr. Martin Fentress Jr., commanding officer of VAW-120, said in a statement. “Hyrum embodied those characteristics and will be truly missed by his family and the Hawkeye community. We sincerely appreciate the public respecting the family’s privacy during this difficult time as they mourn his loss.”

Two other crew members were rescued from the crash and had non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.  The Navy said no pollution or discharge of fuel was in the area of the crash site.

In March, four Marines died when their aircraft crashed during a NATO exercise in Norway. Their aircraft, an MV-22B Osprey, crashed during a drill for operation Cold Response, which involves 220 aircraft, 30,000 troops, and 50 vessels from 27 countries.

A soldier in the Army was also killed this week during an incident involving two helicopters at Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Hawkeye’s Deleted Post-Credits Scene Revealed

Whenever there’s a Marvel movie, you stick around until after the credits to see what they’re teeing up next…but a planned post-credits scene for the first season of Hawkeye was scrapped, with a visual effects artist revealing what might have been on Twitter last night. In the season finale of Hawkeye, Clint (Jeremy Renner) and Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) fired off a Pym arrow, which shrunk the van being driven around by the Tracksuit Mafia bros. It was a fun way of getting rid of some fun, kind of goofy villains, and it’s likely that the post-credits scene was just a little too dark when you think about it.

That’s because the owl that delighted fans throughout Hawkeye may, possibly, have eaten them? Well, let’s explain.

According to Elaina Scott (on Twitter), “The post credits [of] the finale of Hawkeye was meant to have the owl taking the [bros] to its nest, kinda sad they cut it. Would have been hilarious!!”

Scott, who works for Digital Domain now, was the former animation lead on some of The CW’s Arrowverse shows.

The idea that the owl may be planning on eating the Tracksuit Bros might be some well-earned karmic justice, but you can also see why it’s maybe not the ideal implication for a Disney+ show. Besides, you might want to use those idiots if there’s a season 2!

Fans weren’t totally sure what to make of the show’s post-credits tag as aired, which was a musical performance from Rogers: The Musical, an in-universe musical about the life of Captain America. The performance — of the song “Save the City” — was framed as a holiday gift from Marvel to fans, so that might imply that fans not impressed were a bit grinchy. But it wasn’t long before it came out that “Save the City” wasn’t the original plan.

Set in post-blip New York City where Clint Barton aka Hawkeye has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. But when a threat from his past shows up, Hawkeye reluctantly teams up with 22-year-old skilled archer Kate Bishop to unravel a criminal conspiracy.

You can watch the complete first season of Hawkeye on Disney+.

‘Hawkeye’ Finale Shocker May Set up a Marvel Spinoff Show

  • Warning: Spoilers for “Hawkeye” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
  • One of the last scenes in the “Hawkeye” finale showed a face-off between two characters.
  • The showdown ends with a loud gunshot but both characters may still appear in Marvel’s “Echo” series.

WARNING: Major spoilers ahead for the “Hawkeye” season one finale and minor spoilers for “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

The “Hawkeye” finale ended with a shocking scene that seemed to imply the death of an important character.

The series about Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) teaming up to take down criminals in New York ended with multiple showdowns.

Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), a high-ranking member of the Tracksuit Mafia, confronts Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) about the death of her father. Throughout the season, Maya had been hunting the man responsible for her father’s death, the Ronin.

In episode five, the Ronin, a former identity of Hawkeye, reveals to Maya that Kingpin had betrayed her father and manipulated Hawkeye into killing him. Hence, after the big battle in episode six, Maya finds Kingpin, points a gun at him and then a bang is heard when the view changes to a look over the city.

It is not clear whether Maya shot him, or whether she killed him. However, if Marvel is following a particular storyline, this might not be the last we see of Kingpin.

Kingpin’s apparent death might not be what it seems.

“Daredevil: Parts of a Hole” comic panel where Echo confronts Kingpin

Marvel Unlimited

After bringing in “Daredevil” actor Charlie Cox to reprise his role as Daredevil in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” it would be strange to get rid of Kingpin without allowing him to clash once with his ultimate rival. Kingpin has also been a highly anticipated character to introduce in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially after D’Onofrio’s performance as the iconic Marvel villain in Netflix’s “Daredevil” series.

However, there is a possibility that Kingpin survived getting shot.

Maya’s journey in “Hawkeye” seems to follow a lot of her journey in the 2003 graphic novel “Daredevil: Parts of a Hole,” where Maya is first introduced and her origin is explained. In the comic book, Maya makes a similar discovery that Kingpin was behind her father’s death and shoots him a number of times with the gun used to kill her father.

Kingpin survives this attack but is blinded for a short while before getting reconstructive eye surgery. Considering how strong Kingpin was shown to be in the “Hawkeye” finale — he was not even phased when arrows were shot into him — one bullet may not be enough to kill him.

Kingpin may return as a villain in the upcoming “Echo” series.

Marvel Studios announced an “Echo” series in November 2021.

Marvel Studios

A perfect scenario for Kingpin’s return would be the upcoming “Echo” series, which was announced last month. Not much has been said about the series apart from the fact that Maya, whose superhero name is Echo in the comics, will return in the series.

At this point, it is not clear whether after the events of “Hawkeye,” Echo will become a sort of anti-hero or continue being a criminal. However, if Kingpin is alive he could return in that series either in person to get revenge on Echo or in spirit by sending a bunch of criminals after her. There is also Kazi (Fra Fee) who seemingly also died in the finale. If that character survives as well, he may be sent by Kingpin and take on his comic persona Clown to assassinate Maya.

Kingpin could return as a future villain for Spider-Man, as he has done before in the comics and in “Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse.” Alternatively, with Daredevil now introduced to the MCU, Kingpin could appear in a future “Daredevil” Disney+ series. Until we see a dead body, this is likely not the last we heard of Kingpin.

Marvel’s Hawkeye Fan Notices Major Avengers Continuity Error in First Episode

Marvel’s Hawkeye turns the clocks back for the opening scene of its first episode, revealing that Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop has been a part of the MCU since 2012’s The Avengers. In the first sequence we see a young Kate in her family home in New York, which is in the very middle of the Battle for New York from the first team-up movie of the MCU. The scene carries on for a few minutes, showing us her perspective on this life-changing event for her as a character and the MCU at large, but then one of its biggest scenes actually makes a huge continuity mistake.

First let’s think back to The Avengers movie, one of the biggest payoffs to the movie is the revelation of Stark Tower in the middle of New York. As fans know, the S, T, R, and K fall off throughout the battle with Loki, leading to the revelation of just the “A” on the Tower, setting up the eventual Avengers Tower as a key location in the MCU. If you recall to the moment when the letters on the Stark tower begin falling off, it all begins with the K, which flies down to the ground after Loki blasts it with his scepter. In Hawkeye however we see a shot of Kate Bishop looking up at Stark Tower in the aftermath of the attack, with both the A and the K intact. ALl of this was noticed by Reddit user /u/Tajul92, who made the photo below that you can see.

(Photo: MARVEL)

Frankly this isn’t a coffee cup in Game of Thrones style mess-up, but considering that the “K” in STARK is the first letter to fall it’s surprising that they’d miss this, especially with how meticulously they recreated the sequence from alternate perspectives (which you can watch by clicking here).

“The whole thing was completely done brand new, it was all new off the showroom floor, except there was one moment of Jeremy leaping off the building that we [used],” Director Rhys Thomas told The Wrap about recreating the scene. “But we also had to shoot the other side. So we had our double recreate the leap as well. I had this great chance to look at dailies from the original ‘Avengers,’ which was kind of cool.”

The first two episodes of Hawkeye are now streaming on Disney+. New episodes arrive on Wednesdays.

Marvel’s Avengers, Six Months Later

Screenshot: Crystal Dynamics / Square Enix

Marvel’s Avengers was as plagued by buzz as it was inertia. Before the game released, it was defined by a chaotic din of muddy messaging, sky-high expectations, and that little thing called the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After launch, the conversation shifted: Would it become another success like Destiny, go the disappointing way of Anthem, or land somewhere in the middle? Six months later, here’s where things stand.

  • In 2017, Square Enix announced a partnership with Marvel to make games based on Marvel franchises. Crystal Dynamics, hot off the Tomb Raider reboots, would lead development on a game based on Marvel’s enormously popular Avengers franchise. Eidos Montreal (Deus Ex: Mankind Divided) would pitch in.
  • Crystal Dynamics pulled back the curtain on Marvel’s Avengers at Square Enix’s E3 2019 presentation, announcing a release date of May 15, 2020.
  • About that demo. Fans noticed that something was…off. The five playable characters—Black Widow, Thor, The Hulk, Iron-Man, and Cap—bore a remarkable resemblance to their on-screen counterparts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and even bantered like a bunch of Hollywood Chrises. It seemed a bit like Crystal Dynamics was trying to copy a facsimile of a fictional universe that already existed. Also, where was Hawkeye?

No, that’s not Chris Evans.

  • At the 2019 New York Comic Con, Crystal Dynamics revealed that Kamala Khan (whom you may know as Ms. Marvel) would be the sixth playable character in Marvel’s Avengers. She’d turn out to be the driving force of the game’s narrative.
  • Throughout much of 2019, it was clear that Marvel’s Avengers would be a single-player game with cooperative elements, and that it would have games-as-a-service elements, a la Destiny. The E3 presentation sure looked neat. But it wasn’t clear how, exactly, all the disparate parts would come together. A late-October video put things in startling clarity. Bring on that loot grind, baby!
  • Two weeks into 2020, Square Enix delayed the game to September 4.
  • As cities across the nation made moves to (finally) remove Confederate monuments, the official Marvel’s Avengers Twitter account posted a brief ad spot showing a defaced Captain America statue, flanked by drones flashing some very police-looking lights. The account quickly deleted the tweet and posted an apology.
  • Ah, there’s Hawkeye! In July 2020, Crystal Dynamics revealed that Clint Barton, a.k.a. The Guy Who Totally Bailed On Infinity War, would be the first DLC hero for Marvel’s Avengers. A week later, Crystal Dynamics announced that Spider-Man would also join the roster—but only for the PlayStation version. Oh, yeah, and he’d be free. Console-exclusive DLC, folks: It sucks. It also doesn’t make any sense.
  • Throughout August 2020, Crystal Dynamics held a series of open betas. Kotaku’s Mike Fahey gave the game a spin, but came away unimpressed, not quite inspired by the same-old-same-old combat and repetitive mission structure. Zipping around as Ms. Marvel and Iron-Man was pretty cool, though.
  • Right before the game launched, one enterprising individual superimposed the actual faces of MCU actors onto the in-game models of Marvel’s Avengers. (Warning: Don’t click that link if you don’t want nightmares of the uncanny valley.)
  • A third post-launch character! Crystal Dynamics announced that Kate Bishop, rather than Hawkeye, would be the game’s first post-launch hero. No hard feelings between mentor and mentee, right?

Like her mentor, Hawkeye, Kate Bishop wields a bow with Legolas-like accuracy.
Screenshot: Crystal Dynamics / Square Enix

  • During a pre-launch stream, Crystal Dynamics hinted that Black Panther would also join the Marvel’s Avengers roster at some point. Following the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed the hero in the films, Crystal Dynamics altered the initial plans for that stream.
  • Marvel’s Avengers officially released on September 4, 2020, but those who picked up the deluxe edition were able to play on September 1. With his hands on the full game, Kotaku’s Mike Fahey found himself more impressed than he was with the beta, chiefly because the game’s story missions—anchored by a scene-stealing Ms. Marvel—were creative, engaging, and a true delight for any longtime Marvel fan.
  • The spectre of microtransactions, which have infringed on basically every live game to some degree, didn’t turn out nearly as intrusive as prospective players feared.
  • The other big cloud hanging over Marvel’s Avengers before launch: “How bad is the grind?” That, too, didn’t turn out nearly as bad as many expected. Of course, with all of the various in-game currencies and level-up gauges, some level of watching-numbers-go-up was to be expected. But the campaign was, surprisingly, the focus, and you could play Marvel’s Avengers as a one-off single-player game. The grind was there—but only if you wanted it. What a pleasant surprise.
  • Of course, those who wanted the grind quickly stumbled upon issues. Less than a week after launch, players in the endgame noticed that loot drops at the end of certain high-level missions sometimes dropped low-level gear or, worse, no gear at all—despite the fact that those same missions stood the chance of dropping top-tier gear. Crystal Dynamics acknowledged the issue about the loot drops and announced a fix, but noted that the highest-level items were dropping “as intended.”
  • Marvel’s Avengers isn’t based on or even related to the Avengers movies. Easter eggs are fair game, though. In one of the game’s multiple hubs (more on that irksome design choice in a bit), players discovered a neat reference to Avengers: Age of Ultron. Who’s worthy now?

Though he was featured in the game’s marketing, Thor played a minor role in the campaign, not showing up until the back half.
Screenshot: Crystal Dynamics / Square Enix

  • The game was plagued with a raft of small issues, from poorly balanced combat to the occasional infinite load screen, but few things bugged players more than the computer-controlled teammates. Among other errs, AI Hulk, Cap, and co. would attack enemies when you needed a revive and would neglect to attack enemies when you were absolutely still alive. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? Sure. Earth’s Smartest Heroes? No way.
  • Crystal Dynamics dropped the first major patch for Marvel’s Avengers on a Friday evening in the middle of September. It addressed a bunch of those aforementioned small issues but did not change any of the more fundamental issues (specifically, a dearth of new content or engaging endgame activities).
  • Then, crickets, for a while. As players maxed out rosters and endlessly replayed the endlessly replayable missions, enthusiasm for the game waned. In early October, more than a month after launch, the Steam playbase dipped below 2,000. Crystal Dynamics told Kotaku that the game would become exciting again, citing the then-upcoming releases of Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, and new mission types as examples of content coming to the content-starved game. Meanwhile, the most fun we were having by then was in an in-game chair.
  • In mid-October, Crystal Dynamics dropped a second large patch. Much like the first one, it consisted almost entirely of quality-of-life tweaks. There was one big addition, though, with the inclusion of a new hub: the S.H.I.E.L.D. Substation. Beyond that, the patch also made it so factions weren’t relegated to specific hubs. (Prior to the update, if you wanted to collect one faction’s bounty, you’d have to load into one hub, collect all your assignments, load into the other hub, collect those assignments, and so on. The update made it so you could do all that busywork in one place. Sweet relief.)
  • In October 2020, Crystal Dynamics delayed the Kate Bishop DLC from that month to an unspecified date. Further, the next-gen versions of the game, which were planned to launch alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in November, were pushed into 2021. Crystal Dynamics cited difficulties with a work-from-home framework as a reason for the delay.
  • The Kate Bishop launched in early December with an Operation—that’s Marvel’s Avengers-speak for “main mission”—called, unforgivably, “Taking A.I.M.” The expansion was quite fun, at least for a little, thanks to an engaging, if brief, storyline and the sheer awesomeness of Kate’s powers.
  • It took months, but, in December, Crystal Dynamics made it so Captain America could use his shield to refract Iron-Man’s laserbeam.
  • Iron-Man received a suit that makes him look like a dead-eyed bug. It’s purely cosmetic—and just as terrifying as it is hilarious.

And there’s where things are at. Marvel’s Avengers no doubt generated more excitement in the weeks before it released than in the weeks after, but it’s not down for the count. On March 18, the Hawkeye DLC—which looks utterly bonkers—will come out, along with those next-gen versions. Consider, too, that there are more Marvel superheroes than grains of sand on Earth. That’s a bottomless well to draw on, and could serve as the basis for one seriously heroic comeback.

But these superhero stories always have a big bad, and for Avengers, it’s not M.O.D.O.K. or Thanos or some other purple-faced giant thumb. It’s the grind. When that Hawkeye expansion hits, the game’s grind will receive a major overhaul, switching from a linear experience-point system to an exponential one. It’ll kick in for all characters “around level 25”—the halfway point—which essentially does nothing but add more grind to the game. Crystal Dynamics explained the change by saying it could help “new players” acclimate to the game’s skill system. Now, all the game needs is those new players.

More Looks Back
