Take-Two takes down Goat Simulator ad showing leaked GTA 6 footage

Take-Two Interactive has issued a takedown notice after Goat Simulator 3 released an ad showing footage from September’s massive GTA 6 leak.

In case you missed it during its tragically brief life on YouTube and other platforms, an official Goat Simulator 3 ad gave a hilarious overview of an NPC named Shaun. It was just a cute little promotional video meant to get eyes on the sequel in a way that’s consistent with the Goat game’s goofy, off the wall tone. Unfortunately though, the developers took the joke too far when they superimposed Shaun into some B-roll footage of the GTA 6 leak, drawing the ire of Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive’s legal crew. In other words, Goat Simulator 3 f*cked around and found out.

I was able to see the video before it got deleted, and it was genuinely hilarious. That said, as soon as I saw the leaked GTA 6 footage, I knew Goat Simulator’s ad wasn’t long for this world. Part of me suspects Coffee Stain North knew this too and are hoping the controversy – not to mention related articles like this one right here – will give the game some post-launch visibility ahead of the holidays.

Unfortunately, for our part, we found Goat Simulator 3’s gags to be a mildly distracting front for its shallow mission structure and lack of compelling gameplay features. That’s just us though! You can give it a go for yourself right now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

With Christmas just a few days away now, here are the best gifts for gamers this holiday season.

Elon GOAT Token brings giant Musk statue to Tesla factory in Austin

Comment

People recently driving around in Austin might have seen Elon Musk.

But not the real person. Instead, they may have seen a sculpture of Musk’s head atop the body of a goat riding a rocket, all attached to a trailer.

Complete with what appear to be flames that shoot from the rocket, the statue was commissioned by the cryptocurrency company Elon GOAT Token. The company was delivering it to Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin on Saturday, during what it dubbed “Goatsgiving.” The Elon GOAT Token ($EGT) sculpture was created to honor Musk’s “many accomplishments and commitment to Cryptocurrency,” the company said on its website. Musk is the owner of electric car manufacturer Tesla.

Over the past year, $EGT hasn’t seen much growth, according to data from tracker CoinMarketCap, but its founders hoped the Musk statue would inspire the entrepreneur to tweet about the company and bring new exposure to the token.

Elon GOAT Token’s efforts to deliver the statue landed the company on Twitter’s U.S. trending page. Musk purchased the social network last month, causing an upheaval with mass layoffs, departed advertisers and potential changes to the process of obtaining a Twitter Blue check mark.

Costing a total of $600,000, according to Elon GOAT Token, the Musk sculpture is a nod to the billionaire’s fame — a rocket representing SpaceX, the spacecraft company Musk founded; and the literal goat, a word that is also used as an acronym for the phrase “Greatest Of All Time.”

Despite exponential growth in recent years, cryptocurrency has had a rough 2022. FTX, the cryptocurrency exchange that was estimated to be worth $32 billion in January, collapsed this month. Its CEO resigned, and the company filed for bankruptcy, prompting an investigation into how the business came undone.

In the past year, millions of dollars in cryptocurrency have been stolen in scams targeting users of exchange operator Coinbase.

Why the FTX collapse has plunged the crypto world into upheaval

Although for Elon GOAT Token “times have not been good,” co-founder Ashley Sansalone said Saturday in a Twitter audio stream, the company had earmarked enough money to complete the statue project.

“We believe that Elon’s potential acceptance of this biblical sized gift could catapult $EGT into the limelight and accelerate its various initiatives,” the company said on its website.

Elon GOAT Token did not respond to The Washington Post’s request for comment Saturday.

After months of construction and travel across the country, the statue arrived at the Austin building, Elon GOAT Token confirmed in a tweet Saturday after live-streaming the event. Musk, who has 119 million followers on Twitter, had not publicly acknowledged the project as of Saturday evening. Tesla did not respond to The Post’s request for comment Saturday.

Kevin Stone, a sculptor based in Canada, said he received a call about the project last year from its designer, Danny Wang, who didn’t disclose the identity of whoever had commissioned the statue until after the contract was signed.

Crypto scam victims seek to hold Coinbase responsible for losses

At first, Stone thought the mystery client was Musk himself. He didn’t think anyone else would have commissioned such a “crazy project.”

The sculptor began work on the head of the piece in January and finished it nearly six months later, after about 600 hours of work. The sculpture of Musk’s head itself ended up six feet tall and four feet wide, weighing 250 pounds.

For Stone, who is known for his sculptures of birds and dragons, the project was the chance to do something he’d never done.

“It was so crazy I couldn’t turn it down,” he said. “I just wanted to be a part of it just because it was such a unique opportunity to do something that was really, really different.”

Spectacle, a U.S. design and fabrication company, designed the goat and rockets on the statue.

On Saturday evening, Sansalone started a Twitter audio stream, saying he and those who had accompanied him for the journey were sitting about 150 feet away from the Gigafactory, where security had asked them to relocate for safety reasons.

Sansalone said that the Elon GOAT Token statue was always “supposed to be fun,” intended to make Musk laugh, and that the crypto company was trying to do the same thing as the Tesla CEO, despite being “small in comparison.”

As the sun began to set in Austin on Saturday, it was unclear whether Musk would allow the statue to stay.

“We’re not leaving,” Sansalone said near the end of the stream. “We’re going to see how this goes. We’re going to wait here.”

In the background of the Twitter audio stream, people could be heard yelling: “Elon Musk, let’s go! Elon Musk, let’s go!”

Crypto Entrepreneurs Fail to Capture Elon Musk’s Attention With $600,000 Goat Statue

AUSTIN, Texas—Even as a cold night started to settle outside

Tesla

‘s headquarters here on Saturday, a group of cryptocurrency entrepreneurs had no plans to leave until

Elon Musk,

the man they named their currency after, accepted a 12,000-pound sculpture of a Mr. Musk-headed goat riding a rocket.

It is the latest stunt in the cryptocurrency space, where jokes and memes about digital currencies regularly flood social media. But a 6-ton sculpture as a marketing gimmick isn’t so common.

The creators of Elon GOAT say the name of their cryptocurrency was inspired by their respect for Mr. Musk. They and his other fans think he is the “greatest of all time,” or a “GOAT.” They took the admiration literally, spending $600,000 to create a sculpture of Mr. Musk’s head, wearing a gold-plated dogecoin necklace on a goat’s body. The rocket can move, pointing to the sky as if it is taking off. Gas lines run through it so that flames can shoot out of the back.

They trucked it to

Tesla Inc.’s

headquarters, in hopes Mr. Musk would accept the gift. The creators are calling called the event “GOATSgiving.”

But about two hours after the co-founders of Elon GOAT parked the sculpture right outside the Tesla building, there was no sign of Mr. Musk.

Dustin Dailey, a security officer at Tesla, walked over to a group of about 15 people and said they couldn’t accept the sculpture on Mr. Musk’s behalf, but would find a spot for it on their property if Mr. Musk gave the thumbs-up.

But so far Mr. Musk hasn’t given any indication he would accept it or whether he knew the sculpture was there. Tesla didn’t respond to a request for comment

“I am fairly certain he does know about it,” said Mr. Dailey of the sculpture. “It’s all over Twitter.”

Alec Wolvert, an Elon GOAT co-founder and chief marketing officer, said they were planning on camping out on a piece of public land off a toll road that overlooks the headquarters until Mr. Musk accepted the sculpture.

“We’re gonna stay here as long as possible,” Mr. Wolvert said. “I even heard some people say they were going to strap themselves to it.”

The idea of the sculpture came together last year. “It was an evening joke that kind of just came to fruition,” said

Ashley Sansalone,

an Elon GOAT co-founder.

The cryptocurrency entrepreneurs asked Kevin Stone, a metal sculptor in British Columbia, Canada, to make the giant sculpture with Mr. Musk’s head. The goal: to get Mr. Musk to tweet about the sculpture to his more than 118 million followers and draw attention to their cryptocurrency, the Elon GOAT.

“Elon tweeting us would legitimize the token,” said Mr. Sansalone, 40 years old.

Mr. Sansalone said he works on the token full time and previously ran a construction company and traded energy. Unlike bitcoin, ether or dogecoin, the Elon GOAT token is far from a household cryptocurrency name. It is ranked well outside the largest cryptocurrencies by market value, according to CoinMarketCap.

Mr. Musk’s head, which took nearly six months to complete was made by Mr. Stone. The goat body and rocket were made by others in Phoenix to speed up the project, Mr. Sansalone said. Then all the pieces were put together and attached to the back of a 70-foot long semi-truck trailer.

“When I first saw the statue my jaw dropped,” said DeMarco Hill, 51, who spotted it in September in Goodyear, Ariz., where he lives. He grabbed his 12-year-old son and they followed it. “It was something you’ve never seen before in your life.”

Mr. Hill, a trucker who owns his own company, Stay Ready Trucking, thought the stunt was so entertaining that he found Mr. Sansalone and asked if he could participate. Mr. Sansalone said Mr. Hill was needed because only someone with a special license could drive around the heaping pile of metal.

He has since driven the sculpture through California, Arizona and Washington, before bringing it to Texas. People who drive by honk their horns or give a thumbs-up, Mr. Hill said.

“If I pull up to the side of the road it’s like people crowding around,” he said. “It gets crazy.”

Mr. Sansalone said the sculpture has mostly gotten a positive response. He hasn’t heard anyone mistaken Mr. Musk’s face for someone else. “I would say he is probably the most relevant person on the planet right now,” Mr. Sansalone said about Mr. Musk, the world’s richest person who recently bought Twitter Inc. for $44 billion.

In September, the sculpture sat in front of Tesla’s office in Palo Alto, Calif., during the company’s artificial-intelligence conference. Tesla employees crossed the street to take pictures with the sculpture, Mr. Sansalone said. Mr. Musk was at the conference, according to Twitter posts he made, and Mr. Sansalone assumes the billionaire saw the sculpture.

“All there was to look at was a lit-up rocket erected in the middle of the street,” he said.

On Saturday night, the group remained hopeful.

At one point in the evening, a group of about 20 people who were waiting outside started to chant “Elon claim your goat” in the hopes that the god of crypto, as one co-founder put it, would hear them.

“I’m a huge fan of Elon and I want to give this man his flowers while he’s alive,” said Aamir Manzoor, a 36-year-old from Toronto who is a holder of Elon GOAT. “He’s done a lot for the world.”
