The Eight Types of Cheese You Should Have in Your Fridge at All Times

My fridge is very dairy-heavy. Currently, it is stocked with whole milk, half & half, heavy whipping cream, two types of yogurt (store-bought Greek and a homemade recipe I’m tweaking), sour cream, butter, and all of my various cheeses. (I usually have some labneh in there as well, but I just ran out.) The cheeses are a category onto themselves. At any given moment, I need at least eight.

I do not need eight specific cheeses, but I do need at least one cheese from each of the following categories. (If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen me tweet that I need seven cheeses, but someone pointed out I was missing cream cheese.) These are the cheeses I need to keep myself full and functioning. They are tailored to my particular lifestyle and desires, but I think everyone could benefit from identifying and categorizing their specific cheese needs.

My cheese needs are as follows:

  • Snacking cheese: These are my string cheeses, my Babybells, my sticks and pre-wrapped Tillamook “snack portions” that I shove into my mouth as a pre-lifting snack, or in those moments when I’m feeling peckish, but don’t know what to eat.
  • Cooking cheese: This is cheese that gets mixed and melted into dishes. It’s usually bagged and pre-shredded, but Velveeta also counts.
  • Salad cheese: Ah, my crumbles. This is usually a pre-crumbled blue cheese, though it can be a nice feta, and sometimes there is overlap with our next category (finishing cheese).
  • Finishing cheese: This is the cheese you use to finish a dish. It is usually “nice,” and packed with flavor, like Parmigiano Reggiano, Pecorino Romano, and cotija. Finishing cheese can sometimes double as salad cheese.
  • Sandwich cheese: These are (obviously) sliced cheeses that go on sandwiches. I usually have two—Dubliner (either a block or pre-sliced) and deli white American (both honor my heritage in their own way).
  • Hangry cheese: This is just cottage cheese. It fills a more urgent need than snacking cheese, as it can be shoveled into my mouth.
  • Cream cheese: She’s in a category of her own.
  • Treat cheese: This is usually a small portion of something aged and crystal-flecked (I’m really into aged gouda right now), but sometimes it’s a super gooey washed rind specimen. I usually eat it with a really good apple.

That’s just me, and though I value my own opinions, I’d love to hear yours. How many cheeses do you keep stocked in your fridge? How many do you need to function? How many do you want? Tell me your cheese categories, your cheese desires, your cheese dreams. Identify your cheese needs, then demand they be met.

Shakira realized ex allegedly cheated due to jam jar, referenced in music video with head in fridge: report

Shakira fans believe the singer realized her ex Gerard Piqué was cheating on her when she returned to their home from touring to find an empty jar of strawberry jam. She eats strawberry jam, but her husband and children reportedly don’t like it.

The Colombian singer also seemingly referenced the incriminating spreadable in a music video she released around the time of their split last year that showed the disembodied head of her collaborator on the song “Te Felicito” inside a refrigerator that she opens.

The jam revelation was reported by ShowNews Today, which pointed out the internet frenzy.

“The moment Shakira saw that jam bottle as she opened the fridge, she knew it was over for her,” one fan tweeted. Another said, “i found out my ex was cheating from a smoothie receipt in his car. Shakira found out from a jar of jam. I don’t care how crazy we look or sound, when something doesn’t feel right, women will always find out.”

SHAKIRA RELEASES NEW SONG THAT SEEMS TO DETAIL HER RELATIONSHIP WITH EX GERARD PIQUE: ‘I’M TOO GOOD FOR YOU’

Shakira may have shaded Gerard Piqué in her music video “Te Felicito” when she opens a fridge to find the head of song collaborator Rauw Alejandro inside. The pop star reportedly found a jar of jam in her fridge that made her suspicious Piqué had been cheating while she was away.

A rep for Shakira did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

In the video about a lying ex who was not what he seemed to be, Shakira, who sings about how she “can’t stand two-faced people,” sings, “Your wound didn’t open my skin, but it did open my eyes.” She also opens a refrigerator to find the head of her collaborator on the song, Rauw Alejandro, which some fans believe is a reference to Piqué’s jam.

In an interview with the British show “This Morning” last May, Shakira said she opened the fridge in the video “to find out the truth. So I go to the refrigerator, and it is when I find the head of Rauw Alejandro, which is pretty scary,” she laughed.

ShowNews Today reported that, in the Spanish TV show “Socialite,” it was noted that the clue was the jar of jam. That set the internet ablaze.

The pop star, 45, also renewed her shade against Piqué last week in a new hit song that refers to his new girlfriend as a budget version of Shakira and says she won’t get back with him even if he begs her.

Shakira, 45, and the Spanish soccer player, 35, separated last year after 11 years amid rumors he was cheating on her.

In “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” a collaboration with Argentine DJ Bizarrap, Shakira sings in Spanish, “I was out of your league” and “This is for you to be mortified, to chew and swallow, swallow and chew. I won’t get back with you, not if you cry, not even if you beg me.”

She refers to herself as a “She Wolf,” a reference to her 2009 song, adding, “Women no longer cry, women get paid.”

She also swipes at Piqué’s supposed girlfriend, saying, “You traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo, You traded in a Rolex for a Casio.”

Pique reportedly shaded his wife by wearing a Casio and was seen driving a Renault Twingo after the song was released.

Shakira is also reportedly building a wall around her home to keep out Piqué’s mother, who lives near her, according to Marca. She referred to her proximity in “BZRP Music Sessions, singing, “You left me with your mom as a neighbor.”

The song has topped Spotify’s global playlist and broke a record for YouTube views of a Spanish language song since being released last week.

The former couple met in 2010 when he was in her music video for “Waka Waka,” the official song of that year’s World Cup. They split up last spring.

Jeff Bezos Warns Of Recession, Advises People Not To Buy TV, Fridge This Holiday Season

“Economy does not look good right now,” Jeff Bezos stated. (File)

Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos recently warned consumers and businesses that they should consider postponing large purchases during the holiday season as an economic recession might be in the offing.

Speaking to CNN, the business tycoon advised consumers to keep their cash safe and avoid unnecessary spending in the coming months. He recommended that American families avoid the purchase of big-ticket items such as new cars and TVs as the United States is staring at a recession.

“Take some risk off the table,” Mr Bezos advised people, adding, “Keep some dry powder on hand…. Just a little bit of risk reduction could make the difference for that small business, if we do get into even more serious economic problems. You’ve got to play the probabilities a little bit.”

He further said, “If you’re an individual considering to purchase a big-screen TV, you might want to wait, hold onto your money, and see what transpires. The same is true with a new automobile, refrigerator, or whatever else. Just remove some risk from the equation.”

Mr Bezos also went on to state that the “economy does not look good right now”. “Things are slowing down. You’re seeing layoffs in many many sectors of the economy,” he told the outlet.

Separately, in the same interview, the Amazon founder said that he will donate the majority of his $124 billion net worth to charities in order to combat climate change and to support people who can unify humanity amid growing social and political divisions. Mr Bezos did not specify how much of his wealth he is planning to give away. However, when asked if he will be donating a major portion of his wealth to charity during his lifetime, he replied, “Yeah, I do”.

Jeff Bezos is currently the executive president of Amazon, having stepped down from his previous role of CEO (Chief executive officer) last year.

LG’s MoodUp is a fridge that’s as flashy on the outside as I feel on the inside

In case anyone is needing extra RGB lighting in their lives, LG’s new MoodUp fridge has you covered. The refrigerator, which the South Korean electronics giant announced this week at IFA in Berlin, has LED light panels on its front that can illuminate in over a dozen different colors (22 for the upper panel, 19 for the lower). There’s also a built-in Bluetooth speaker (I know).

You control the light panels through LG’s app, where there are a series of preset color schemes to match different seasons and moods. But of course, you can also take full control to create a gloriously ugly kitchen color scheme of your own devising. I was helpfully shown such an abomination during an in-person demonstration on the show floor, and it was quite something.

(For whatever reason, LG chose to display its MoodUp fridge demonstration with a mirror on either side at a 45-degree angle, which is why it looks like there are three refrigerators in the photograph below.)

The colors can look nice, but they can also clash horribly on your command.

LG’s press image shows the fridge in a more traditional home environment.

Where things get really interesting is when you combine these light panels with the fridge’s Bluetooth speaker, where the panels are able to flash in time with the music. You know how everyone jokes that the best house parties always take place in the kitchen? Well, LG’s taking that quite literally.

From a more functional perspective, the MoodUp is loaded with sensors to flash if you accidentally leave one of its door’s open, or automatically illuminate to guide you toward a midnight snack.

LG’s control app.

It’s an interesting response to Samsung’s series of Bespoke refrigerators, which are available in a range of different colors to suit your home’s style. As of earlier this year, Samsung will also print custom images on the front of them for an even more personalized look. The nice thing about LG’s take on this colorful design is that you can change your fridge’s colors with a tap. When they’re not illuminated, LG says the fridge offers a combination of gray and white color schemes “for a more traditional look.”

Oh, and the LG MoodUp also works as a fridge, where LG promises “advanced refrigeration and smart technologies for better food freshness and enhanced convenience.” LG’s press images show MoodUp fridges that are either one or two-doors wide, and there’s also a model with a window in the fridge door that lets you see its contents from the outside. There’s no word on pricing or a release date, in case you’re actually interested in buying this thing.

Samsung will charge $500 to put your face on its fridge

Samsung is adding a new and extremely exploitable customization option to its line of Bespoke refrigerators. Sling the company $500 and you can have any photo or image you like printed on the unit’s double doors. You could choose a favorite piece of artwork, a child’s doodles, or just put your own face on your own fridge for no good reason at all.

The option is launching for buyers sometime later this year (if you need to know the exact minute it goes live you can sign up here for alerts), and if you already own a Bespoke fridge, you can order the door panels separately and swap them in. The cost is $250 a panel, and Samsung says they’ll take about 8 weeks to print and ship.

New from Samsung: create an incredibly ugly fridge.

The Bespoke line of refrigerators is very much marketed by Samsung for its modularity and customization. Previously, though, you could only choose from a limited selection of colors and a few prints (in the UK, for example, you can buy units emblazoned with the Union Jack in time for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee).

Giving customers the option to add any image they like will almost certainly lead to some very, very ugly fridges sitting in peoples’ kitchens, but I suspect that is part of the feature’s charm. It’ll also be interesting to see if Samsung’s customization app limits any images, on grounds of copyright or taste.

Customers can submit a design of their choice.

Student has both legs amputated after eating pal’s leftover takeaway in fridge which caused life-threatening sepsis

A STUDENT was forced to have both legs amputated after eating their housemate’s leftovers from the fridge led to devastating sepsis.

The student immediately began to feel ill after eating a chicken and noodle dish which had been bought from a restaurant the previous night.

His symptoms started with a strong stomach ache and nausea before his skin turned purple and a friend took him to hospital.

He developed a severely high temperature, a pulse of 166 beats per minute, and had to be sedated, according to a report in the New England Journal of Medicine.

After the sepsis spread to his limbs, he was forced to have part of all 10 fingers amputated, as well as both legs below the knees.

The student, identified only as JC in a YouTube video illustrating the case, was so ill that he had to be taken to the intensive care unit of another hospital by helicopter for further treatment.

He reportedly had no known allergies, had received his childhood vaccinations, and wasn’t a big drinker, although he went through two packs of cigarettes a week and smoked cannabis daily.

“The patient had been well until 20 hours before this admission when diffuse abdominal pain and nausea developed after he ate rice, chicken, and lo mein leftovers from a restaurant meal,” the report said.

“Five hours before this admission, purplish discoloration [sic] of the skin developed, and a friend took the patient to the emergency department of another hospital for evaluation.”

In the YouTube video explaining the case made by user ‘Dr Bernard’, he explained that the severe symptoms the patient was suffering from seemed likely to have been an aggressive bacterial infection.

He suffered kidney failure and blood clots within 24 hours of eating the food.

Blood tests from the first hospital he visited found that his blood contained the bacteria Neisseria meningitidis.

Dr Bernard explained: “When bacteria is present in the blood, the entire body’s blood vessels dilate, dropping the blood pressure preventing oxygen from getting into the organs.”

As his hands and feet become cold, they are starved of oxygen

Dr BernardYouTuber

He went on: “Little clots form everywhere, as they get lodged into small blood vessels blocking blood flow.

“As his hands and feet become cold, they are starved of oxygen.”

When skin tissue is starved of blood, it begins to turn purple and rot, in a process called necrosis.

What is sepsis

  • Sepsis is always triggered by an infection – but is not contagious and can’t be passed from person to person
  • It is usually spread through conditions such as pneumonia, UTIs, and appendicitis
  • A common sepsis symptom is when the patient suffers a minor cut and the area around the wound becomes red, swollen, and warm to the touch
  • Sepsis later affects individual organs throughout the body, and in severe cases can lead to organ failure
  • When more than one organ stops functioning, the patient experiences cardio-circulatory failure leading to a sudden drop in blood pressure – more commonly known as septic shock
  • Sepsis cases in the UK are increasing, with around 123,000 cases each year in England, and an estimated 37,000 deaths
  • According to the UK Sepsis Trust, around 60,000 people in Britain every year suffer permanent, life-changing after effects

Although the patient’s condition stabilised, the tissue on his fingers developed gangrene, as did his legs down to his feet.

He was forced to have part of all 10 fingers amputated, as well as both legs below the knees.

The life-threatening bacteria is known to spread through saliva.
JC’s housemate had thrown up after eating some of the meal the previous night, which JC hadn’t known before he started eating them.

Doctors discovered that although JC had received his first meningococcal vaccine before middle school, he never had the booster shot four years later when he was 16, which is recommended.

Dr Bernard described the incident as a “freak accident”, although it’s not clear what caused the food to have the bacteria in it.

JC gained consciousness some 26 days later and his condition improved, although with his life changed forever.

Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection, caused when the immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage the body’s tissue and organs.

It is the primary cause of death from infection around the world – more than bowel, breast, and prostate cancer combined.
