Comedian Heather McDonald collapses, fractures skull during set

Standup comedian Heather McDonald collapsed during a show in Tempe, Arizona, on Saturday night.

The 51-year-old star took to her Instagram story on the night of Feb. 5 to address fans from the hospital.

“So, I’m in the emergency room, I look weird,” she began. “Oh my God, I’m so, so, so, so sorry.”

She then explained that she “passed out on stage.”

“I got up, I did one joke and I felt so dizzy,” McDonald recalled. “You can see my eye, I fell on my eye. Oh my God, I cannot believe this happened, I feel so terrible that they had to tell everyone to leave and then cancel the second show.”

The star insisted that she’ll return to Tempe in the future.

“I’ve never, ever fainted in my life,” she said.

The star’s reps told Phoenix’s NBC outlet that she “may have lost consciousness because of dehydration” and suffered a skull fracture from the fall.

“She might be released later today,” her management added on Sunday, adding that she tested negative for coronavirus.

The comedian had performed at a theater called the Improv on Friday night and was set to perform back-to-back shows on Saturday until she collapsed.

McDonald’s reps did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comments, nor did reps for the Tempe Fire Department, who responded to the scene.

Citing eyewitnesses, TMZ reports that at the top of the show, the comic told a joke about coronavirus vaccines and fell to the floor. According to the outlet, many thought the collapse was part of an act.

A pair of medical professionals were reportedly in the audience and offered assistance on stage.

The comedian told TMZ that her sister-in-law, who was in the audience, took her to the hospital, where she underwent various tests including a CT scan. What caused her to faint remains unclear.

She added that her head hurts and that she’s feeling very tired.

Atlanta Braves’ Charlie Morton fractures fibula in Game 1 of World Series against Houston Astros

HOUSTON — Charlie Morton’s season ended in the third inning of the 2021 World Series.

X-rays revealed that Morton, the Atlanta Braves’ veteran starting pitcher, suffered a fractured right fibula early in Game 1 on Tuesday night, seemingly after getting hit by a 102.4 mph comebacker off the bat of Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel to begin the bottom of the second.

Morton, 37, retired the next two batters, then came back to strike out Jose Altuve to begin the bottom of the third before exiting. Morton noticeably grimaced while delivering the last pitch to Altuve — a sweeping curveball dotted at the bottom of the strike zone — and promptly hobbled out of the game after getting checked on by an athletic trainer.

Morton’s injury prompted Braves manager to turn to late-game reliever A.J. Minter a lot earlier than he would have anticipated and is a serious blow for the Braves, who entered the World Series with a three-man rotation that also included Max Fried and Ian Anderson. The Braves were already planning a bullpen game in Game 4 and will need another one in Game 5 unless Fried comes back on short rest.

Morton, signed through at least the 2022 season, went 14-6 with a 3.34 ERA in 185⅔ innings during the 2021 regular season. He was appearing in his third World Series — for his third different team — in a five-year span. The Braves said he will be ready for spring training.

Atlanta will be able to replace him on the roster before Wednesday’s Game 2.

Devin Williams Fractures Hand, Likely To Miss Remainder Of Season

Brewers reliever Devin Williams is going on the 10-day injured list with a right hand fracture, the team informed reporters (including Adam McCalvy of MLB.com and Will Sammon of the Athletic). The injury will require surgery and is likely to end his season, although Milwaukee isn’t completely ruling out the possibility he could return for the World Series if the club were to win the National League pennant. Williams told reporters he likely suffered the injury after punching a wall on Sunday.

It’s an incredible blow to the Brewers’ postseason plans, as few relievers in baseball have been better than Williams over the last two years. The right-hander broke into the majors late in 2019, but he logged few enough innings to retain rookie eligibility in 2020. Last season, Williams absurdly allowed just one earned run (four runs total) over 27 innings while striking out a laughable 53% of opposing hitters. That showing earned him the National League’s Rookie of the Year and Reliever of the Year awards.

More to come.
