The Flash Star Ezra Miller Pleads Guilty to Trespassing Charge, Avoiding Jail Time

Update 01/13/2023: The Flash star Ezra Miller has pleaded guilty to unlawful trespassing in a plea deal that sees them avoid jail time.

As reported by News10 ABC (and spotted by Variety), Miller will instead pay a $500 fine and faces one year of probation with 41 conditions including no drinking, random drug tests, and a continuation of their mental health treatment.

The trespassing charge is a significant reduction from the initial charges Miller faced that included several more serious felony burglary charges, conviction of which would see them face up to 25 years in prison.

Original Story 01/12/2023: DC and The Flash star Ezra Miller is reportedly expected to plead guilty to an unlawful trespassing charge in the Vermont burglary case.

Miller was accused of stealing three bottles of alcohol from someone’s home but, as reported by NBC, the other two charges of burglary and a petit larceny charge will be dropped following negotiations by the two parties.

Miller is expected to plead guilty on January 13, with court documents showing that prosecutors propose they face 89 to 90 days in a suspended sentence, one year’s probation, and a $500 fine.

The actor pleaded not guilty to the more serious felony burglary charges in October, conviction of which would see Miller face a maximum prison sentence of 25 years.

The Vermont incident is just one of several recent cases of legal trouble Miller has found themselves in, joining other examples in Hawaii, Massachusetts, and North Dakota.

Miller apologised for their behaviour in August last year, however, saying they were suffering from “complex mental health issues” and had begun treatment. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behaviour. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life,” they said at the time.

The Flash film was put in jeopardy as a result of the legal trouble but DC now appears to be moving forward with Miller in the role.

Ezra Miller’s ‘Messiah’ complex detailed in disturbing new report

Ezra Miller’s troubles are detailed in a new Vanity Fair report. (Photo: Reuters)

Ezra Miller is the subject of a new Vanity Fair exposé, which looks at the 29-year-old actor’s “dark spiral” over the past few years. More than a dozen people were interviewed for the lengthy report, some of whom claim Miller suffers from Messiah delusions.

Miller’s erratic behavior first spilled into the public while they were in Iceland in 2020. The Flash star, whose pronouns are they/them, choked two strangers with one incident going viral after it was caught on film. An insider who was with Miller around this time told Vanity Fair: “[They’d] talk about the metaverse and the medicine and how they’re the Messiah and what [their] work is here. They say their spiritual practice is to be among the people — which means party. So, when in Iceland, [they were] out nonstop. [Their] favorite were raves, where [they’d] go on benders for two or three days at a time.”

Miller has been accused of cult-like behavior and grooming young women. Activist Tokata Iron Eyes is among those who has been traveling around with Miller in recent months. Tokata’s parents went public and accused the actor of brainwashing and assaulting their daughter. (Tokata has denied this in interviews.) Tokata’s mother, Jumping Eagle, said she has heard about Miller’s supposed Messiah complex.

“They say they are some kind of messiah, and they’re going to lead an Indigenous revolution,” Jumping Eagle told Vanity Fair. Miller is not Native American, but has frequently spoken out against people appropriating the culture.

“[Miller] professes that [they walk] through this world with an Indigenous humility and spiritual awareness,” one “Indigenous insider” alleged. “But, point of fact, [they don’t] at all. Because [they don’t] care.”

Multiple sources claimed to the magazine that Miller was verbally and emotionally abusive while referring to themself as both Jesus and the devil. According to one insider, the actor invoked the superhero they play “claiming that the Flash is the one who brings the multiverses together just like Jesus.”

Another peculiar anecdote buried in the investigative report involves Susan Sarandon. While describing the Miller’s Vermont farm, where weed, guns and Flash figurines are purportedly rampant, there is an altar they like to use.

“A lot of times [Miller] makes the women put their cellphones on the altar when they come in, and other offerings,” a longtime friend claims to the magazine. “Ezra freaked out recently… demanding that Susan Sarandon come pay tribute to [their] altar because she didn’t invite Ezra to a dinner party.”

A rep for Miller countered to Vanity Fair that Sarandon and the actor “are dear friends” and that Miller “would probably call this [anecdote] total bullshit if asked.” (A rep for Sarandon did not respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.)

Miller’s former fiancée, Erin, participated in the story and said that Miller “wasn’t violent or physically abusive toward anyone” when they were together. The couple dated in 2016.

“For years [they] convinced me and all our friends that I was abusive…. But looking back, I would be calling out [their] disrespect and [they] wouldn’t take responsibility and just call me abusive because of my reaction. I could have handled it better. I didn’t know the term gaslight back then. I was emotionally f***ed up for years,” Erin shared. She added that Miller broke up with her after a spiritual adviser told them that she was a parasite.

“I can make excuses for [them] all day, but I don’t want to anymore,” she added. “The illusions of grandeur need to be called out. I will love Ezra always, and I don’t want [them] to continue down this dark road.”

Last month, after Miller’s most recent arrest, the actor announced they started “ongoing treatment” for “complex mental health issues.” According to the magazine, the treatment just involves therapy.

“They are taking their therapy and treatment very seriously,” Miller’s rep said.

The move was a last ditch effort to save next year’s blockbuster film The Flash, which will be Miller’s biggest movie yet. Warner Bros. is moving forward with the tentpole despite the mounting negative press about its star.

“The notion that The Flash was at risk was a wake-up call,” Miller’s rep added.

The Ezra Miller story keeps getting darker and sadder

No one likes seeing Ezra Miller’s name in a headline these days. The beleaguered star of the Fantastic Beasts franchise and DC’s upcoming The Flash, Miller has been the subject of intense confusion, scorn, and worry in recent years, beginning with the 2020 allegation and accompanying video that he choked a woman at a bar in Iceland. However, as detailed in a recent Vanity Fair exposé, the story only gets darker from there.

The allegations against Miller (who uses they/them pronouns) include emotional and physical abuse, child endangerment, the grooming of a teen Native American activist, and what Vanity Fair calls a “Messiah delusion,” referring to themself as Jesus and the devil. Last month, Miller gave their only comment on the growing list of indiscretions and allegations, saying they were “suffering from complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment.” But, according to one of Miller’s reps, the notion that The Flash was at risk served as a “wake-up call.”

However, while the actor is reportedly working with Warner Bros. on additional scenes for the long-delayed DC franchise lynchpin, others in Miller’s orbit don’t sound satisfied. The parents of Takoa Iron Eyes, a nonbinary teenage environmental activist that met Miller when they were 12, have filed one of two protection orders against Miller, accusing him of “grooming, brainwashing, and emotionally abusing the teenager.” A Massachusetts mother requested the other, “claiming that Miller’s interest in her own nonbinary 12-year-old made her and the child uncomfortable in incidents between February and June of this year.”

Miller’s relationship with Iron Eyes escalated concerns when they left for Hawaii, where Miller was arrested in March. Vanity Fair reports:

“There was this intensely controlling behavior of Tokata which, at first, I thought was for Tokata’s own good because they were unstable,” says someone who witnessed it. But their perspective changed when Iron Eyes’s parents petitioned for the protective order, claiming that Miller used “violence, intimidation, threat of violence, fear, paranoia, delusions, and drugs to hold sway over a young adolescent Tokata.

Then there’s “The Farm.” According to previous reports, Miller stole away to a “gun-ridden” Vermont farm with Iron Eyes and a 25-year-old mother named Ana and her three kids. The mother was part of another Miller controversy as she was a member of a polygamous family that Miller and Iron Eyes met and stayed with in Hawaii. Two weeks after Miller and Iron Eyes were invited to live with the family, the pair absconded with Ana and the children for Vermont. Again, the farm was described as not a family-friendly location. According to two longtime friends of Miller, the property had “guns everywhere,” including “a flame thrower and all these huge AK-47s lying around.” Another friend said the youngest child on the property picked up a bullet and put it in her mouth.

It’s at the farm where allegations of Miller running a cult come from. Apparently, there’s an altar at the farmhome to bullets, weed, sage, and Flash figurines.” Miller “makes women put their cell phones on the altar when they come in, and other offerings,” said one source.

The full report goes into greater detail, delving into allegations of drug abuse, the weaponization of their gender identity, and what could come next for Ezra Miller.

Latest Ezra Miller Exposé Includes NDAs, Alleged Grooming, And Reshoots On DC Comics Movie

The latest story about The Flash star Ezra Miller sheds new light on some of the more troubling allegations surrounding the actor, and alleges that they’re now paying to keep victims silent…

Vanity Fair has run another incredibly detailed (and somewhat disturbing) story about Ezra Miller, and trust us when we tell you that there’s a lot to unpack. We’d highly recommend reading the entire piece for context, but it’s sounding like the actor’s recent promise to seek help may have been little more than damage control, particularly with $200 million movie The Flash on the line.

A source tells the site that all they – Miller uses the they/them pronouns – are currently doing to get better is undergoing therapy. That may sound like a step in the right direction, though there are conflicting claims about how seriously they’re taking the treatment.

Throughout the piece, it’s alleged that, on his farm in Vermont, Miller frequently abuses those around them and goes from referring to themselves as Jesus to the devil. Barry Allen has even been pulled into that as Miller frequently claims “the Flash is the one who brings the multiverses together just like Jesus.”

It’s thought that much of Miller’s behaviour may be down to them acting out after their parents decided to get divorced (they’re 29 years old, if you’re wondering). Now, the actor is said to have pulled young Tokata Iron Eyes into the bizarre narrative they’ve created around themselves.

“Ezra is Jesus, and Tokata’s an apocalyptic Native American spider goddess, and their union is supposed to bring about the apocalypse,” one source reveals. “And that’s the ‘real’ reason everyone is so opposed to them being together.” Miller is alleged to have groomed a number of people, though is said to have a harem of young women in “a patriarchal dictatorship where Ezra controls all the sex as the man, and plays the women against each other, screams at them, belittles them in front of the others.”

Those who know Miller also believe they use their gender identity as a weapon, with many also feeling that the aforementioned therapy sessions are just an example of the Justice League star playing the system.

Their rep says, “The notion that The Flash was at risk was a wake-up call,” and Miller is now working with producers to shoot additional scenes for the movie. Many fans will be hoping those write the troubled star out of the DCEU, of course.

One of the most unsettling claims comes right at the very end of the article from Miller’s former fiancée, Erin. While saying she never suffered any outright abuse during their relationship, it was after they broke up that things turned dark. “For years he convinced me and all our friends that I was abusive,” she recalls. “But looking back, I would be calling out his disrespect and he wouldn’t take responsibility and just call me abusive because of my reaction.”

“I could have handled it better. I didn’t know the term gaslight back then. I was emotionally f***ed up for years.”

Reading through the allegations in the main report, it’s hard to come to any other conclusion beyond Miller being a very damaged individual who is causing harm to those around them. In the wake of that statement from Warner Bros. and the actor, the site reports that a lot of NDAs are being signed “in what three sources describe as a whack-a-mole style legal strategy of paying off alleged victims.”

The Flash is currently set to arrive in theaters on June 23, 2023.

Ezra Miller seeks mental health treatment as ‘The Flash’ stays the course

Placeholder while article actions load

When news broke earlier this month that Warner Bros. would be shelving the nearly complete “Batgirl” instead of releasing it as planned on HBO Max, it prompted an immediate question: What would become of “The Flash”? While both DC superhero films were highly anticipated, the future of the latter seemed more questionable at times given that it stars Ezra Miller, the 29-year-old actor who has faced multiple criminal charges — in addition to abuse and assault allegations — over the past several months.

As of two weeks ago, when Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said on a quarterly earnings call that he was “very excited” about upcoming DC titles including “The Flash,” the film is still set for a 2023 release. On Monday, Miller announced they were addressing their “complex mental health issues.”

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said in a statement shared with The Washington Post. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

The statement arrived after months of silence from Miller about the allegations against them, and amid reported conversations at Warner Bros. about how to handle the $200 million film, which is expected to play a key role in the DC Extended Universe. According to Evan Nierman, a crisis management expert who serves as chief executive of the public-relations firm Red Banyan, this was a logical next step for Warner Bros. because it “puts the onus onto Miller.”

“It takes a situation where someone could be assumed to be criminal or malevolent and turns that into someone who’s worthy of some grace and understanding,” Nierman said. “I suspect Warner Bros. was all-too-happy to go down this road. I don’t know who’s paying for the [treatment], but even if the studio were paying for it, that seems like a pretty worthwhile investment considering what they’ve already poured into the movie itself.”

Reached for comment regarding Miller’s statement, Warner Bros. representatives directed The Washington Post to a publicist for Miller who had no further comment.

Miller has been arrested twice this year in Hawaii — once in March for disorderly conduct and harassment at a karaoke bar, and again in April for allegedly throwing a chair that struck a woman’s face at a private residence. Miller pleaded no contest to the disorderly conduct charge and paid a fine; the harassment charge was dismissed. A temporary restraining order filed by a couple who alleged the actor threatened them was also dropped in April. Last week, Miller was charged with felony burglary in Vermont, where they live, for a May incident in which they allegedly stole bottles of alcohol from a house whose occupants were not present.

Assault allegations against Miller date back to April 2020, when a video went viral in which the actor appeared to be choking a woman in Iceland; no charges were filed. Miller has also faced multiple allegations of abuse and grooming, some of which have resulted in requests for protection orders. In June, according to Rolling Stone, the parents of an 18-year-old sought a restraining order against Miller on behalf of their child, whom they said Miller had groomed for several years after visiting North Dakota’s Standing Rock Reservation. Later that month, the Daily Beast reported that a Massachusetts mother and her 12-year-old were granted a temporary harassment prevention order against Miller after he was allegedly inappropriate toward the child.

It is unclear whether Miller will be involved in future projects as the Flash. Warner Bros. executives have their work cut out for them between now and the current film’s June 2023 release date, according to Nierman.

“The key is going to be, can Ezra Miller stay out of trouble until the premiere?” the crisis management expert said. “I would have to think that Warner Bros. is going to do everything in its power to increase the odds of that.”

‘The Flash’ star Ezra Miller apologizes, seeking treatment

Ezra Miller says they are seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues” amid multiple legal scandals.

In a statement, Miller, who identifies as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, apologized for their behavior in recent years that has led to arrests stemming from abuse and assault allegations.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller told Variety via a statement from their rep.

“I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

Miller, 29, has been embroiled in legal trouble all over the US since the start of the year.

The “Fantastic Beasts” actor was arrested in March in Hawaii for disorderly conduct and later pleaded no contest. They were also accused of allegedly throwing a chair at a woman and being the subject of 10 911 emergency calls in less than a month in the same state.

Just three months later, Miller was accused of grooming a teenager with “cult-like” behavior. The teen’s parents filed a lawsuit in Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court that claimed the actor “uses violence, intimidation, threat of violence, fear, paranoia, delusions and drugs to hold sway over a young adolescent Tokata.”

Tokata, however, denied the statements made by their family and friends on social media.

That same month, Miller was accused of housing three young children and their mother at a weapon-filled farm in Vermont. Two sources told Rolling Stone at the time that they feared for the safety of the children, aged 1 to 5, but the mother insisted that she and her children were fine, adding that Miller helped her escape from an allegedly “violent and abusive ex” and gave her “a safe environment for [her] three very young children.”

Earlier this month, the “Fantastic Beasts” actor was charged with burglary after allegedly stealing alcohol from a home in Vermont.

‘Flash’ Star Ezra Miller Agrees To Mental Health Treatment – Deadline

After months of run-ins with the law and a spiraling PR crisis for Warner Bros, Flash star Ezra Miller has decided to seek treatment to counter a self-described “time of intense crisis.”

A week after the non-binary identifying Miller was slapped with a burglary charge by Vermont law enforcement, the Justice League alum said today in a statement that “having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment.”

“I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior,” they added. “I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

The abrupt move Monday follows at least two months of efforts by Miller’s long time CAA agent, Warner Bros, and other close knit colleagues, friends, and family to encourage them to pursue help. Perhaps tipping the scales, on August 7, Miller received a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on September 26 for arraignment on the burglary charge.

While the scheduled release of the high-testing Flash next June has never been in serious peril thusfar, Miller’s flurry of altercations and questionable actions from Hawaii to Iceland to Germany and the Green Mountain State have lead many to wonder when the next speedy shoe was to drop. Knowing that they wouldn’t have a $200 million film without Miller, who is in almost every scene of the DC pic, Warner Bros brass have been talking to the actor and their reps for weeks about a more “pro-active” mental health strategy for the performer.

“This isn’t about business, it’s about a human being who is clearly in pain,” one exec told Deadline tonight of the influence the David Zaslav-run company has tried to bring to Miller’s situation.

While the viral video of Miller apparently choking a female patron of a Reykjavik bar in April never led to charges, the actor was arrested twice in America’s 50th state. One arrest in April was for second-degree assault. As well as the Hawaiian and Vermont charges, Fantastic Beasts vet Miller has faced allegations of sexual abuse. There’s also been a temporary harassment prevention order they received the past few months from a 12-year-old and a mother in Greenfield, MA after they claimed the actor menaced them. Additionally, the parents of 18-year-old Tokata Iron Eyes filed a protection order against Miller, accusing them of grooming and brainwashing the teen – a state of affairs the girl in question has vehemently denied.

Miller first appeared as Barry Allen/The Flash in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. They subsequently cameoed in Suicide Squad, was featured in Justice League, and made a short appearance in the Peacemaker finale earlier this year with Aquaman (Jason Momoa). The big budgeted Andy Muschietti helmed Flash wrapped late last year. Some pick-up shoots were conducted over the summer this year as final post-production winds down.

Variety first reported the news of Miller’s mental health treatment decision today.

‘The Flash’ Star Ezra Miller Apologizes for String of Scandals

“The Flash” star Ezra Miller says they are seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues.”

In a statement provided to Variety by a representative of the actor, Miller broke their silence about the troubling behavior that they have exhibited in recent years, which has led to a series of legal issues and assault and abuse allegations. Miller also apologized for their actions.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller says. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

The embattled actor, who is non-binary and uses they and them pronouns, played the DC Comics character Barry Allen in 2017’s “Justice League” and its 2021 counterpart, “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” But their role in the comic book franchise has been overshadowed by their off-screen behavior, which has alarmed friends and associates of the actor, as well as Warner Bros., the studio behind “The Flash.”

Most recently, Miller was charged with felony burglary in Vermont, after state police investigated an incident involving several bottles of alcohol being taken from a residence while the homeowners were not present. The actor made headlines in 2020 after a recording surfaced in which they appeared to be choking a woman outside of a bar in Iceland. No charges were filed. The actor has been arrested twice in Hawaii this year, once for disorderly conduct and harassment. In the Hawaii incidents, Miller pled no contest to a single count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and paid a $500 fine and $30 in court costs. The harassment charge was dismissed.

The series of scandals has become a snowballing public relations issue, not only for Miller, but also for Warner Bros. Discovery, which has employed the actor across two of its cornerstone franchises — DC Comics films and the “Harry Potter” spinoff series “Fantastic Beasts.” A source close to the studio says that Warner Bros. supports Miller’s decision to seek professional help.

“The Flash” is set to open in theaters on June 23, 2023 and reportedly serves as a key entry in the studio’s DC Comics films, featuring appearances by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as Batman.

Ezra Miller flashes smile while hanging with mom after third arrest

Ezra Miller appears to be relaxed and unbothered these days despite their laundry list of legal woes.

The actor, who goes by they/them, was photographed hanging out with their mother, Marta Miller, on the porch of their Vermont home on Monday — one day after their third arrest of the year.

The “Flash” star, 29, is now sporting a full mustache, which curved upward along the toothless grin they flashed the paps. They did not even stand up from their chair or put down their phone for the impromptu encounter.

Marta, however, was apparently not as OK with the situation, as photographers captured her shooting up from her seat and grimacing while seemingly shouting in their direction. One picture posted by the Daily Mail even showed her mid-sentence with a disapproving pointer finger in the air.

Ezra Miller flashed a playful smile the day after the actor’s third arrest of the year.

On Sunday, Ezra was charged with felony burglary into an unoccupied dwelling for allegedly breaking into a house in Stamford, Vt., and stealing several bottles of alcohol back in May.

The “Perks of Being a Wallflower” star was also arrested twice in Hawaii — once in March for disorderly conduct, to which they pleaded no contest, and again the following month for allegedly throwing a chair at a woman.

The actor was seen lounging outside their Vermont home with their mother, Marta.

Vermont State Police cited Ezra with the burglary charge during one of their visits to the actor’s Stamford estate to attempt to locate the young family he’s allegedly been housing since mid-April.

According to Rolling Stone, officers were looking for the 25-year-old mother and her three children — aged 5, 4 and 1 — to serve her an emergency care order requested by the State Attorney’s office, which demanded the kids’ removal from both the property and her care.

The house sits on a 96-acre estate in Stamford.

The order was reportedly drafted for fear of the children’s safety, as Ezra’s farm is allegedly littered with firearms, ammunition and marijuana.

Having a “bad feeling in [his] stomach,” the kids’ father contacted the Vermont Department for Children and Families and local police in mid-May.

In June, the mom insisted to Rolling Stone that Ezra provided “a safe environment for [her] three very young children.”

However, the “Fantastic Beasts” star allegedly told cops over the weekend that the family hadn’t lived there in months, which the State Attorney’s office said seemed like an attempt to “evade service” of the order.

VSP officers believe the actor may be concealing the family’s whereabouts.

Rolling Stone also noted that the mother was posting daily on social media from the property until mid-July when her account went dark and appeared to be deleted.

They have also been accused of grooming two teenagers.

Ezra has also been accused of “grooming” a teenager and had a restraining order taken out against them by another woman and her 12-year-old child.

Reps for the actor have not responded to our numerous requests for comment.

The Flash Fate Up in the Air as Ezra Miller Problem Worsens for Warners – The Hollywood Reporter

The fate of Warner Bros.’ The Flash hangs in the balance as actor Ezra Miller continues to make headlines for their controversial behavior and various arrests. An outright shelving of the film is not off the table, though it would be a last resort.

Warners — and its new parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery — had hoped to avoid the line of fire, because its big-budget DC superhero tentpole isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until June 23, 2023. But the pressure is mounting by the day.

On Monday, the actor was charged with a felony burglary, and on Wednesday, Rolling Stone reported that Vermont’s child services department is attempting to locate a mother and three children who have allegedly been residing at Miller’s farm in the state.

A source with knowledge of the situation says the studio appears to be preparing for three possible scenarios.

First, Warners has received indications that the 29-year-old Miller, whose mother has accompanied the actor in recent days, will seek professional help after returning home to their farm in Vermont after being away. If that help happens, Miller, who goes by they/them pronouns, could give an interview at some point explaining their erratic behavior over the past few years. The actor could then do limited press for The Flash, and the movie would open in cinemas as planned.

The second scenario: Even if Miller doesn’t reach out for help, Warners could still release the film. But don’t expect Miller to play a prominent role in terms of marketing and publicity. Nor would Miller be The Flash going forward, as the role would be recast in future projects.

The third case: Things go from bad to worse, with the situation with Miller deteriorating. This would see Warners killing the movie outright, as it could not be reshot with a different actor. Miller plays multiple characters and is in almost every scene. Scrapping a $200 million film would be an unprecedented move.

All of this comes amid change at Warners. Earlier this month, newly minted Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav stunned Hollywood when shelving Batgirl, a $90 million movie made for HBO Max. Unlike The Flash, there was no individual controversy involved; rather Zaslav opted to take a tax write-down on the project and pivot away from making streaming films for DC.

Miller was cast as The Flash in 2014, the same year a solo The Flash film was announced. The development process has been long, with multiple directors coming and going over the years until It filmmaker Andy Muschietti finally got the project off the ground. The film also stars Michael Keaton, back as Batman for the first time in 30 years, and Ben Affleck as a different version of Batman.

Miller began their time as The Flash with cameos in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, both released in 2016, before having a main role in Justice League a year later.

The Flash is a key film for Warners, as it is expected to chart a new course for the DC Extended Universe. The film has been testing well, even as Miller’s legal woes continue to mount.

Earlier this week, word broke that they have been charged with felony burglary for allegedly stealing bottles of alcohol from a Vermont home. According to a police report posted online, Vermont State Police were notified May 1 of a potential burglary when residents on County Road in Stamford, Vermont, reported that “several bottles of alcohol were taken from within the residence while the homeowners were not present.” Following an investigation that included taking statements and reviewing surveillance videos, police found probable cause to charge Miller.

The latest charge comes after Miller was arrested in April in Hawaii and booked on suspicion of second-degree assault, per the Hawaii Island Police Department. The incident reportedly occurred when Miller was attending a get-together at a private residence and “became irate after being asked to leave and reportedly threw a chair, striking a 26-year-old female on the forehead,” per police.

That came on the heels of a March arrest on charges of disorderly conduct and harassment following an incident at a karaoke bar in Hilo, Hawaii.

At least one project has already distanced itself from Miller. On Tuesday, the Salvador Dali Biopic Daliland left Miller out of its press release in an announcement about its debut at the Toronto Film Festival. The actor plays a young version of the artist in the project, which stars Ben Kingsley as an older version.

Despite the arrests and headlines about Miller’s alleged behavior, Warner Bros. Discovery chief Zaslav said last week that the studio is committed to theatrical releases for a number of DC films including The Flash

“We’ve seen them. We think they are terrific, and we think we can make them even better,” Zaslav said of DC’s upcoming slate, including The Flash.

CAA, which represents Miller, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
