Blake Lively trolls Ryan Reynolds by subscribing to ESPN+ to watch him experience ‘crippling anxiety’

Nothing wrong with having a little fun at your husband’s expense.

Blake Lively revealed she subscribed to ESPN+ this past weekend to watch her husband, Ryan Reynolds, experience “crippling anxiety” during Wrexham AFC’s match with Sheffield United.

“I bought ESPN+ today. Just to watch my husband experience crippling anxiety live,” Lively wrote on her Instagram Story with a picture of a distraught Reynolds watching the game at Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, North East Wales. “Worth it.”

Reynolds, who co-owns Wrexham AFC with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Rob McElhenney, was in attendance for the match with his and Lively’s 8-year-old daughter James, as the club faced off against Sheffield United during the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Lively said it was “worth it” in reference to subscribing to ESPN+ to watch her husband anxiously watch his club play.

“If you’re not watching this insane @wrexham_afc game right now you’re missing out on these vibes,” the 35-year-old actress added.

Lively, who wasn’t in attendance and is expecting her and Reynolds fourth child, explained that Wrexham AFC was three leagues below Sheffield United, saying, “life makes no sense.”

The uneven match-up between the two clubs ended in an unexpected and thrilling 3-3 tie, forcing the two sides to play again on Feb. 7.

Following the tie, the “Deadpool” actor took to Twitter to praise his club, saying the match was one of the most “exciting things” he’s ever seen.

“When @RMcElhenney and I got into this it all felt so impossible. But impossible is @Wrexham_AFC’s favourite colour. That was one of the most exciting things I’ve EVER seen. Thank you each and every Wrexham supporter who came out and aimed your heart at that pitch tonight.”

Reynolds and McElhenney purchased the struggling Welsh soccer club in February 2021 for $2.5 million and have rejuvenated its image since taking ownership.

Since the takeover, Wrexham AFC has qualified for the National League playoffs, which seemed unlikely just a few years ago.

In August of 2022, FX released the “Welcome to Wrexham” documentary series about the takeover.

Wrexham AFC is the oldest football club in Wales and the third-oldest professional football club in the World, according to FootballHistory.org.

“You may have never heard of Wrexham, the Racecourse Ground or (sponsor) Ifor Williams,” Reynolds said back in 2021 after purchasing the team, putting on a Welsh accent, “but you will.”

Jennifer Lopez reveals ‘scary’ near-death experience that occurred during Shotgun Wedding shoot

Jennifer Lopez is sharing about a scary situation that occurred while filming her new film Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic.

While out promoting the rom-com with six of her co-stars, including onscreen love interest Josh Duhamel, Lopez admitted to having a near-death experience when she nearly went over a cliff.

It turns out Duhamel, who was in the scene with Lopez, came to her rescue by holding on to the leading lady for dear life as to save her from the fall.

Scary: Jennifer Lopez, 53, revealed she had a near-death experience during the shoot for her new film Shotgun Wedding, where co-star Josh Duhamel, 50, saved her from falling over a cliff

The terrifying story came up when the cast sat down for a game of ‘Who’s Who’ at BuzzFeed, during which they revealed which of them were most deserving of certain titles.

After several minutes, the group listed Lopez and Duhamel as ‘most likely to nail a stunt on the first take.’

‘Me and Josh got pretty good at it,’ the Bronx, New York native, 53, declared, for which her co-lead confessed, ‘l don’t think I’ve ever nailed anything on the first take.’

‘Really, I felt like we did pretty good,’ JLo shot back in the on-screen couples defense, adding, ‘Especially when we were handcuffed together and we had to do all that crazy stuff. Except for the one time when I almost went over the cliff,’ which peaked the interest of her cast mates who asked her to tell the complete story.

During the promotion for the romantic action comedy, Lopez revealed how she nearly fell over a cliff during the scene ‘when my dress gets caught in the wheel’

Directing her story to her castmates, JLo revealed the freak accident happened ‘when my dress gets caught in the wheel’ during one pivotal scene.

‘I was going over! And I’m looking at Josh, and I’m like, “Josh, don’t let me go, please,” she added, as she demonstrated the scenario by sticking her hand out for Duhamel.

‘He’s like, “I got you. You go we go,” she recalled.

Luckily, they both made it through. ‘It was scary as f**k,’ Lopez admitted.

Another scary scenario: During another promotional interview by himself, Duhamel revealed he had a near-death incident of his own during a shoot break in the Dominican Republic

During another promotional interview by himself, Duhamel revealed he had a near-death incident of his own during a shoot break in the Dominican Republic.

‘I had some time off. There was this cove near where we were shooting and the waves were just like amazing, crashing up against the cliffs,’ the actor, 50, told Access Hollywood’s Zuri Hall. ‘I wanted to go get a video and a rogue wave comes in and almost takes me out over the cliff.’

Duhamel thinks the jagged rocks in the area where he was at the time held him ‘from going into the water’ and ultimately over the cliff.

‘I figured I was completely safe and all of a sudden bam,’ he explained, while using his hands to describe the impact on his face.

Hands-On Experience of New HomePod Reveals ‘Exquisite’ Audio Quality

One of the first hands-on experiences with the new second-generation HomePod has offered new details on the latest smart speaker’s quality and performance compared to the original HomePod launched in 2018.

TechRadar‘s Lance Ulanoff had the chance to listen to the new HomePod during a listening session by Apple for members of the media and shared his experience with the speaker.

According to Ulanoff, the new HomePod handles the separation of vocals, instruments, and tracks with “excellent” precision when listening to songs like “Everybody” by Ingrid Michaelson. “What I noticed immediately is, from a single HomePod 2, the excellent separation of acoustic instruments and her voice. I could clearly pick out a tambourine, guitar, and drum kit as distinct elements in the air,” Ulanoff said.

One challenge often faced by typical speakers is that the louder the volume, the more distorted the audio can become. Ulanoff said that even with the volume at 90%, the new HomePod delivers “aural clarity” with no distortion. According to Ulanoff, the new HomePod has a sensor built into its design that can measure the internal temperature of the system and, if under ideal conditions, can “crank up the power even further.”

Like the original HomePod, the new model has spatial awareness, but with better performance thanks to advanced computational audio and improved hardware, like the S7 chip. With spatial audio, the new HomePod, either alone or in a stereo pair, can offer an immersive 360-degree listening experience.

One of the interesting things about the new HomePod 2 is its spatial awareness. As I listened to music from a single and then stereo pair of HomePod 2 devices, I noticed how the sounds often didn’t seem to be coming directly from the HomePods (thanks Spatial Audio!). Some were coming from the left, others from the right, and some (usually, but not always, vocals) from dead center. The most interesting sounds though, were the ones that almost seemed to wash over me; they were bouncing off the back wall (maybe a foot away from the HomePod 2) and then rising and, I’m guessing here, bouncing from the walls to the ceiling to my ears.

Ulanoff called a stereo pair of new HomePods “impressive,” adding that certain songs felt as if they were “coming from behind and in front of me. The sound stage was so wide and deep that it didn’t matter where I stood in the room.” It’s worth noting that first-generation HomePods can’t be used in a stereo pair with the newer model, according to Apple.

Internals of the new second-generation HomePod

Visually, the new HomePod looks a lot like the original smart speaker, but with a larger backlit touch interface and a slightly shorter design. Internally, the new model has two fewer tweeters and microphones than the original HomePod, which was likely a cost-cutting decision. The tweeters and microphones are “tilted up to avoid any audio being distorted by reflections from whatever surface the speaker is sitting on,” according to Ulanoff.

Like the original HomePod, the new speaker can quickly analyze its placement in a room to adjust the audio accordingly in just 20 seconds, thanks to a combination of the four microphones and the S7 chip. A built-in accelerometer also detects movement to allow the speaker to readjust its room analysis.

The new HomePod comes around two years after Apple discontinued its original smart speaker. The first-generation HomePod failed to be the market success Apple was hoping for, because of its high $349 price at launch and limited integration with third-party services. We’ll get a closer look at the new HomePod when media reviews are published in the days leading up to its launch on Friday, February 3.

Samsung Introduces the 200-Megapixel Image Sensor for the Ultimate High Resolution Experience in Flagship Smartphones – Samsung Global Newsroom

The new Samsung ISOCELL HP2 boosts capacity for maximum pixel performance, allowing for detailed and seamless photos in any light condition

Samsung Electronics today introduced its latest 200-megapixel (MP) image sensor, the ISOCELL HP2, with improved pixel technology and full-well capacity for stunning mobile images in tomorrow’s premium smartphones.

“The Samsung ISOCELL HP2 harnesses Samsung’s high-resolution image sensor technologies and know-how at the cutting edge for epic details,” said JoonSeo Yim, Executive Vice President of Sensor Business Team at Samsung Electronics. “Our leadership comes from innovative pixel technologies that allow our sensors to go beyond the number and size of pixels. We will continue to open new horizons and solidify our presence in the expanding ultra-high-resolution sensor market.”

The ISOCELL HP2 packs 200-million 0.6-micrometer (μm) pixels in a 1/1.3” optical format, a sensor size that is widely used in 108MP main smartphone cameras. This enables consumers to enjoy even higher resolutions in the latest high-end smartphones without larger camera bumps in their devices.

With Samsung’s advanced pixel-binning technology, Tetra2pixel, the HP2 adds more versatility to the camera as it simulates different pixel sizes to accommodate varying lighting levels. When in low-lit environments, the sensor transforms either into a 1.2μm 50MP or 2.4μm 12.5MP image sensor by binding four to 16 neighboring pixels. For fuller 8K video, approximately at 33MP, the HP2 switches to 1.2μm 50MP mode to minimize cropping and capture more of the scene. Filming 8K at 30 frames-per-second (fps), a wide field of view along with bigger pixel size can produce sharp cinematic videos.

Washed out pictures from brightly lit environments can be significantly reduced with the HP2, thanks to Samsung’s new Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) technology. In a photo diode within each pixel, a voltage transfer gate is placed on the bottom to transport electrons from the pixels to the logic layer. With high precision, D-VTG adds a second transfer gate in the pixel, boosting the pixel’s full-well capacity by more than 33 percent. With more electrons stored and efficient signal transfers, this method can reduce overexposure and enhance color reproduction, especially in bright light conditions.

In low-lit settings, the HP2’s auto-focusing is taken to the next level with Super QPD, which allows the sensor to use all its 200-million pixels for focusing agents. The ample amount of focusing agents are grouped by four adjacent pixels to recognize both horizontal and vertical pattern changes that delivers faster and more accurate auto-focusing. Utilizing the rich pattern data along with the sheer number of reference points, the new sensor is capable of fast auto-focusing, even in a dimly lit environment.

For superb HDR performance, Samsung is introducing the DSG feature for the first time in 50MP mode which applies two separate conversion values to the analog signal received at the pixel level. In addition, the Smart-ISO Pro, an HDR solution that merges different levels of ISO readouts from a single exposure, allows the camera to take 12.5MP images and 4K at 60fps video in HDR.

The Samsung ISOCELL HP2 has entered mass production.

Cancer symptoms: Almost everyone with advanced cancer experience ‘unbearable’ fatigue

The severity of cancer symptoms intensifies as the disease progresses, yet many patients ignore them until they become unbearable. Unfortunately, failure to report symptoms early significantly worsens the prognosis of cancer. Reports state that most patients diagnosed in the advanced stages report the same debilitating symptom.

The American Cancer Society explains: “Fatigue is the feeling of being tired and not being able to do things at your usual pace.

“This tiredness can affect you physically, mentally and emotionally.”

Those cancer patients afflicted by this symptom often describe an ongoing sense of extreme tiredness that does get better with rest.

“Almost everyone with advanced cancer has this symptom,” adds the health body.

READ MORE: Side effects of popular supplement could include cancer

When advanced cancer is diagnosed it is unlikely to be cured or controlled efficiently with treatment.

This is because the tumour will have invaded nearby tissue, lymph nodes and other distant parts of the body.

Treatment may still be administered in a bid to shrink the tumour, but sometimes doctors decide the risks of treatment outweigh the benefits.

It should be noted that people with advanced cancer are more likely to experience fatigue than those patients in the earlier stages of the disease.

DON’T MISS:

The main cause of fatigue in cancer patients is disruptions to the body’s hormone levels, which is often seen in diseases like breast and prostate cancer.

Once there is a higher number of cancer cells in the body, fatigue may lead to decreased eating, and decreased activity.

Cancer Research UK adds: “Some cancers make substances called cytokines.

“Cytokines are a group of proteins in the body that play an important part in boosting the immune system. These can cause fatigue.”

READ MORE: UK scientists make potential breakthrough in breast cancer treatment

A report published in the medical journal BMC Primary Care characterised the type of fatigue in patients with terminal cancer as an ‘unbearable weakness’.

The report states that “weakness was the more frequent unbearable symptom”, seen in 57 percent of patients receiving palliative care.

The Cleveland Clinic describes cancer fatigue as “paralysing”, as it may come on suddenly.

The health body adds: “With this type of fatigue, no amount of sleep or sleep helps.

“You feel physically, emotionally and mentally exhausted most of the time.”

The American Cancer Society adds that patients often describe the fatigue as feeling “listless, drained or washed out” that may decrease for a while but then comes back.

Alongside weakness, patients frequently report “unbearable pain”, as per the report in BMC Primary Care.

Pain in terminally ill patients is often characterised as chronic because it tends to last longer than the pain caused by other problems.

In cancer patients, pain often leads to several other complications such as:

  • Feeling irritable
  • Sleeping poorly
  • Decreasing appetite
  • Decreasing concentration.

Google’s revamped Android Auto experience is rolling out now

It took several months, but the Android Auto overhaul is here. Google is now rolling out its redesigned in-car experience for Android users. As mentioned at I/O, the redesigned interface streamlines navigation, communication and media playback. Maps is in a more driver-friendly position, while the split-screen view offers quick access to music and texts regardless of your car’s screen orientation. There’s finally a media progress bar, and conversation shortcuts (shown below) help you make calls and reply to messages.

Google is expanding Android Auto’s functionality at the same time. Newer Pixel and Samsung phones will “soon” let you place WhatsApp calls, the company says. Assistant now offers smart suggestions for missed calls, arrival time sharing, music and podcasts.

Google

There are a few vehicular upgrades coming beyond Android Auto. Digital car key sharing is coming to Samsung phones in the near future, while Xiaomi phone owners will have the option later in 2023. The keys themselves will be available for makes other than BMW, although Google didn’t say when that might happen. HD maps are coming to the Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90 to boost their autonomous and assistance features. YouTube is also coming to cars with Google built-in, so you’ll have more to watch while you’re charging or parked.

To some extent, the Android Auto upgrade was necessary. Apple has previewed a next-gen CarPlay interface that’s not only more useful, but can take over more of a car’s infotainment system. Google’s revamp isn’t directly equivalent, but might give automakers a stronger incentive to support Android Auto in an increasingly competitive market.

Anna Kendrick recalls experience with emotional abuse

Anna Kendrick reflects on her past experiences with emotional abuse ahead of the release of her new film Alice, Darling. (Photo: VALERIE MACON/AFP via Getty Images)

Anna Kendrick says her new movie Alice, Darling made her reflect on her past experience with emotional abuse in a romantic relationship.

The Pitch Perfect alum spoke to The Los Angeles Times this week about her upcoming film, in which she plays Alice, a woman in a destructive relationship with the psychologically abusive Simon (Charlie Carrick). The film, which is directed by Mary Nighy from a script by Alanna Francis, made Kendrick think about her own experiences with an unnamed ex. Kendrick said her partner did not harm her physically, which made her question her perspective on the relationship.

“That was a big part of my problem,” Kendrick explained. “He never hit me and I’m not really afraid that he’s going to hit me. How do I discern between normal conflict and abuse? Why is my body in so much fear all of the time? Why do I wake up feeling like he’s in bed next to me and wondering, ‘OK, do I have 30 seconds before I start performing or … ?’”

During the filmmaking process, it was important for the Up In the Air star to not show Simon being outwardly monstrous onscreen, instead allowing Alice’s experience to be the “evidence” that he was abusive. That included removing a moment in which Alice removed her clothes, revealing bruises.

“I was begging Mary, ‘Can Alice be the evidence?'” Kendrick said. “Because not only do I want us to not make a movie that’s already been made, but personally, I need to trust that I’m the evidence. Part of it was like, if you can’t trust Alice, then I can’t trust myself. So it was really, really important that the movie relied so heavily on just staying with Alice.”

Kendrick has opened up before about her past relationship. In a September interview with People, she said that her representative passed along Francis’s script because it reflected the conversations they were having about Kendrick’s own relationship.

“It felt really distinct in that I had, frankly, seen a lot of movies about abusive or toxic relationships, and it didn’t really look like what was happening to me,” she said. “It kind of helped me normalize and minimize what was happening to me, because I thought, ‘Well, if I was in an abusive relationship, it would look like that.'”

She shared that at the time, she trusted the person she was in a relationship with more than she trusted her own self.

“When that person is telling you that you have a distorted sense of reality and that you are impossible and that all the stuff that you think is going on is not going on, your life gets really confusing really quickly,” Kendrick explained. “And I was in a situation where, at the end, I had the unique experience of finding out that everything I thought was going on was in fact going on. So I had this kind of springboard for feeling and recovery that a lot of people don’t get.”

Congressman-elect George Santos admits lying about education, work experience, but vows to be sworn in

SYOSSET, N.Y. — The calls are intensifying for Congressman-elect George Santos to step down after he admitted to lying on his résumé.

The Long Island Republican turned the blue district red.

And in the face of questions about campaign fraud and deception, on Tuesday afternoon his campaign told CBS2 he still has every intention of being sworn in next week.

READ MORECongressman-elect George Santos admits to lying about his education and work experience

Santos said he’s sorry he “embellished” his résumé, but he believes he still deserves to serve the voters of Long Island and northeast Queens who elected him.

Last week, the New York Times reported that the 34-year-old Republican falsely claimed he graduated from Baruch College, that he is the descendant of a Holocaust survivor, and that had worked for Goldman Sachs and Citigroup.

“If I was trying to defraud the people like everyone is saying, I could have listed bigger names,” Santos said.

In a Fox News interview Tuesday night, he said he is “not a fraud” and “not fake.”

“I made a mistake, and I think humans are flawed and we all make mistakes,” he said. “In order to move past this and move forward and be an effective member of Congress, I have to face my mistakes.”

But when the interviewer, former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, asked Santos if he had no shame, he quickly tried to deflect.

“I can say the same thing about the Democrats and the party. Look at Joe Biden. Joe Biden’s been lying to the American people,” he said.

Congressman-elect George Santos says he’s “not a fraud”

02:33

Democrats on Long Island — and beyond — are calling for Santos to step down.

“There is a very real possibility that George Santos committed financial crimes. In 2020, he reported an income of $55,000, yet two years later he’s wealthy enough to contribute $700,000 to his campaign?” Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan said.

READ MORECalls rise for federal investigation into Congressman-elect George Santos’ alleged fraudulent behavior

“George Santos is a pathological liar who defrauded the voters of New York state. He should be held accountable,” Rep. Ritchie Torres said. “I have trouble believing he legitimately lent his campaign 94% of his salary. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and there needs to be an investigation.”

Santos still has not addressed how exactly his wealth has skyrocketed in the past several years by “consulting,” but did say it allowed him to give a large amount of money to his congressional campaign.

In a statement Tuesday afternoon, a rep for Santos said, in part, “As a millennial, George did what he had to in order to evade smear campaigns put forth by elitist organizations like the New York Times. Santos is wholeheartedly ready to claim the decisive victory he earned in Congress and be the voice of New York’s 3rd District.”

READ MORECalls grow for Congressman-elect George Santos to resign after allegedly lying about his background

Joseph Cairo Jr., the chair of the Nassau County Republican Committee, expressed disappointment, including the Holocaust claim, but is standing with Santos, saying, in part, “I expected more than just a blanket apology. Residents want him to deliver tax relief and pass laws that will make our neighborhoods and nation safer. What’s more, George Santos will have to continually prove that he has learned his lesson.”

Long Islanders that spoke to CBS2 disagree.

“I think people like him are a detriment to our society,” said Tom Zamroz of Levittown.

“Resign. You’re not qualified do not take the seat,” said Lisa Marolachakis-Kines of Glen Cove.

“It’s ridiculous he can get away with that. There’s no consequences for your actions anymore,” added Jordan Sepulveda of Bethpage.

CBS2 reached out to Republican leadership in the House, but did not immediately hear back.

So what disciplinary action could Santos face by the House or law enforcement, and what does one of Long Island’s most powerful Republicans, former Rep. Peter King, have to say?

When asked if Santos should resign, King said by phone, “No, he was elected and, again, it’s a bad precedent to set to resign. Then you’d have every election to be re-examined ‘Was this accurate? Was that inaccurate?.'”

“Now, obviously, he went beyond almost anything anyone has done before, but it’s not a crime. You should be sworn in, but after that there should be an immediate investigation,” King added.

Bipartisan Facts First is calling on Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to not allow Congressman Santos to vote in the speaker’s race or hold committee seats until the Ethics Committee investigates his background.

McCarthy has not responded to CBS2’s requests for comment.

“One of the few reasons why Kevin McCarthy and the Washington Republicans would not want to take what would be some pretty bold action and not letting Santos be seated is because they have such a narrow majority. At the same time, they are going to be going after a lot of Democrats and it could be they would see Santos as someone to throw under the proverbial bus, so they could seem less partisan,” said Lawrence Levy, the executive dean of Hofstra University’s National Center for Urban Studies.

New York Attorney General Letitia James has said she’s looking into the situation, but political experts say it’s a gray area.

“There are very few rules about what candidates can and can’t say during the course of an election,” said Michael Thorning of the Bipartisan Policy Center.

The Republican Jewish Coalition said, “We are very disappointed in Congressman-elect Santos. He deceived us and misrepresented his heritage in public comments and to us, personally, he previously claimed to be Jewish. He has begun his tenure in Congress on a very wrong note. He will not be welcome at any future RJC event.”

Santos tried to defend what he said on Fox News.

“My heritage is Jewish, I’ve always identified as Jewish. I was raised a practicing Catholic. I think I’ve gone through this,” he said.

Another news outlet, the Jewish American news site “The Forward,” questioned Santos’ claim his grandparent survived the Holocaust. It said records appear to show his grandparents were born in Brazil.

As for the claim that he worked for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, Santos tried to explain that, too, claiming he worked indirectly with the firms while employed by another company.

“We can debate my résumé and how I worked with firms such Goldman and Citigroup all night long,” he said.

“Is it debatable or is it just false?” Gabbard asked.

“No, it’s not false at all. It’s debatable,” Santos said.

According to the New York Times, however, his website didn’t say he worked indirectly with Citigroup; it falsely said he was an “associate asset manager” in their real estate division.

CBS2’s Tim McNicholas reached out to Santos to request an interview, and he directed us to his public relations team. We have not heard back.

Donovan Mitchell speaks of ‘draining’ Utah experience, then leads Cavs in blowout of Jazz

Donovan Mitchell led the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday to a 122-99 win over the Utah Jazz team that traded him this offseason.

Prior to the game, he opened up to Andscape’s Marc J. Spears about his time in Salt Lake City and his relationship with former teammate Rudy Gobert. He told Spears in an interview published Monday that “we did a lot of special things” while acknowledging that a Jazz team led by himself and Gobert that never advanced to the Western Conference finals fell short of expectations.

“Basketball just didn’t work out,” Mitchell said of his relationship with Gobert.

Mitchell, who played five seasons in Utah, also spoke about the challenges of being a Black athlete in a predominantly white city, an experience that he says has shifted for him in Cleveland. He described his experience in Utah as “draining.”

“If I’m being honest with you, I never really said this, but it was draining,” Mitchell told Spears. “It was just draining on my energy just because you can’t sit in your room and cheer for me and then do all these different things.”

Mitchell cited an incident that saw 10-year-old Isabella Tichenor take her own life amid bullying allegations. He also referenced Utah state senator Stuart Adams, who suggested that Mitchell needed to be educated after Mitchell spoke out against a critical race theory resolution in the state legislature.

“I’m not saying specifically every fan, but I just feel like it was a lot of things. A state senator saying I need to get educated on my own Black history. Seeing Black kids getting bullied because of their skin color. Seeing a little girl hang herself because she’s being bullied.”

Mitchell called pushback against his advocacy for racial equality “a lot” and said that it was tough to not see many Black people in the stands at Jazz home games.

“And then to be able to not see many of us in the crowd, I tried my best to make sure I invite young Black and brown kids to games, to be around the community,” Mitchell continued. “But just to not see us there, it was definitely tough.

“And being in Cleveland now, you see us courtside. It’s just refreshing. It’s a blessing to be back around people that look like me.”

The change of scenery has suited Mitchell. He led the Cavs with 23 points in just 23 minutes on Monday and rested on the bench during the fourth quarter of the blowout win. He hit 4 of 5 3-pointers while shooting 8 of 12 from the field. The effort has become the norm since the trade with Mitchell averaging a career-best 29.5 points per game while shooting 50.3% from the field and 42.4% from 3-point distance. His performance is drawing MVP buzz.

Monday’s victory improved the Cavs to 21-11, including an NBA-best 15-2 at home. After the game, Mitchell kept the conversation about basketball while acknowledging that “it’s different when you’re playing against your friends, the guys you’ve been in a locker room with, battled with.”

Monday’s game was in Cleveland. He expects the Jan. 10 rematch in his return to Utah to hit differently.

“Always good to play against your guys,” Mitchell told reporters. “I think the bigger game will probably be when we go back out there.”

Also worth circling on the calendar: Jan. 14 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It will be Mitchell’s first chance to face off against Gobert, whom the Jazz also traded in the offseason. Mitchell missed a Nov. 13 matchup in Cleveland with an ankle sprain.

“I’m going to give him a hug and be happy to see him,” Mitchell told Spears of Gobert. “And I wish him the best. There’s no hatred. There’s no ill will towards any of that.”

New Jersey men lost in the Atlantic Ocean for 10 days on Atrevida II recount their experience: ‘Small miracle’

Two men and a dog who were lost at sea for 10 days after they set sail from New Jersey to Florida, said they relied on prayer and were miraculously saved.

Kevin Hyde, 65, and Joe Ditomasso, 76, were spotted by a tanker in the Atlantic Ocean after they set sail on Hyde’s sailboat, named the “Atrevida II,” on Dec. 3 and were not heard from again.

The two men said during a press conference Wednesday evening on Staten Island they were swept off course by a storm — but survived with a little faith.

“It’s just kind of a small miracle that we were found at all,” Hyde said, according to FOX 5 New York.

NEW JERSEY SAILBOAT WITH 2 ABOARD GOES MISSING AFTER NEVER REACHING FLORIDA DESTINATION

“All I asked the Lord was to see my granddaughter,” Ditomasso added during the presser.

The two men and Ditomasso’s 13-year-old Bichon Poodle mix, who was on the sailboat with them, made a stop in Oregon Inlet, North Carolina, and then were not heard from again after a storm with mountain-sized waves pushed them further out to sea, they said.

“A huge storm blew up and blew us off course,” Hyde said.

Ditomasso added: “40-foot seas — there were mountains, I was watching them.”

The men never reached their intended destination in Florida and their families reported them missing on Dec. 11.

The U.S. Coast Guard launched a large search-and-rescue effort, involving planes, helicopters, and boats to cover more than 21,000 square miles from Massachusetts to Florida. A U.S. Navy cruiser also assisted in the search, as well as a number of commercial and recreational vessels, FOX 5 New York reported.

After they were missing for 10 days, the two men were found by a tanker, The Silver Muna.

“The #USCG, with assistance from the tanker vessel Silver Muna, located the #boat 214 miles east of Delaware,” the Coast Guard said. “The Atrevida II was found to be without fuel and power, rendering their radios and navigation equipment inoperable.”

“We were waving and stuff like that because by that time, my mast was down, all systems were mute, we were just kind of hanging on to the boat,” Hyde recalled. “It’s like finding a needle in a haystack in this situation.”

Captain Neerah Chaudhary said he too was praying for the men, who he safely rescued.

“We rescued them with our crane, cargo net,” Chaudhary said, according to the report. “I was praying, ‘God save them, our rescue should be successful.'”

Chaudhary brought the men and the dog into New York Harbor, where the Coast Guard reunited with their families.

“This is an excellent example of the maritime community’s combined efforts to ensure safety of life at sea,” said Cmdr. Daniel Schrader, the spokesperson for Coast Guard Atlantic Area. “We are overjoyed with the outcome of the case and look forward to reuniting Mr. Hyde and Mr. Ditomasso with their family and friends. “

He added: “We also want to highlight the importance of proper safety equipment and preparedness when going to sea. Having an emergency position indicating radio beacon, or ‘EPIRB’, allows mariners to immediately make contact with first responders in an emergency.”

As for the men, they said they are happy to be home and are looking forward to celebrating Christmas.
