  • Victoria Beckham defended her “disciplined” diet after husband David said she only eats fish and vegetables.

  • “Talk about making me sound boring!” the singer said in a new interview with Vogue Australia.

  • According to the former Spice Girls member, she’s “quite extreme” in anything she does.

Victoria Beckham defended her strict diet in a new interview with Vogue Australia, after her husband David said earlier this year that she only eats fish and vegetables.

“Talk about making me sound boring!” the former member of the Spice Girls said in the interview, according to Huffington Post UK. “What he meant is that he’s never met anyone who’s more disciplined with the way that they eat.”

According to Beckham, she “eats lots of healthy fat: fish, avocado, nuts, that sort of thing,” and also regularly drinks alcohol, unless she has a “reason not to.”

“I’m quite extreme in anything I do, whether it’s eating or working out or drinking or not drinking,” the fashion designer revealed.

Beckham also told Vogue Australia that her workout routine consists of Pilates, uphill runs on a treadmill, and intense weight sessions, per Huffington Post UK.

In February, David spoke about his wife’s eating habits during an appearance on iHeart’s “River Cafe Table 4” podcast.

“I get quite emotional about food and wine. When I’m eating something great, I want everyone to try it,” the 46-year-old former athlete told chef Ruthie Rogers.

He continued: “Unfortunately, I’m married to someone that has eaten the same thing for the last 25 years. Since I met Victoria, she only eats grilled fish, steamed vegetables. She will very rarely deviate away from there.”

According to David, his wife has only deviated from her preferred meal on one occasion that he can remember.

“The only time she’s ever probably shared something that’s been on my plate was actually when she was pregnant with Harper, and it was the most amazing thing,” he recalled. “It was one of my favorite evenings. I can’t remember what it was, but I know she’s not eaten it since.”

The couple first met in 1997, when David was playing for Manchester United, and Victoria was a member of the Spice Girls. They got married in 1999, and have four children together: Brooklyn, 23; Romeo, 19; Cruz , 17; and Harper, 10.

Street Fighter 6’s leaked roster makes me think we’ll see character expansions themed exclusively around past entries in the series

It’s hard to ignore the big Street Fighter 6 leak that surfaced earlier this month that seemingly unveiled the game’s launch roster shortly after the first gameplay trailer dropped. While everyone is unsure if what we saw is the real deal, the artwork depicting what looks like the full cast on day one certainly seems convincing.

Now, we don’t want to delve so much into the specifics of the leak, but instead want to talk about a possible ripple effect we might see post-launch. Street Fighter 6’s potential leaked roster goes heavy-handed on newcomers, and this — along with a few other potential signs — could point to post-launch expansions being released as packages themed exclusively as Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 3, and so on as a means of bringing back legacy fighters.

Naturally, this is pure speculation as we currently do not know how Capcom intends to handle DLC for Street Fighter 6. It also goes without saying that the leaked roster could still be a fake, though it definitely looks like it’s real not only based on the quality of the contents itself, but also due to Capcom seemingly addressing them.

As a quick recap, Street Fighter 6’s rumored launch roster contains 14 returning characters and a whopping 8 newcomers (including Luke). This is double the amount of brand new fighters that we saw in Street Fighter 5’s initial cast, and double Street Fighter 4’s launch newcomers — though you could unlock the newly added bosses Seth and Gouken by playing the game.

We haven’t seen this many original fighters on a Street Fighter’s base roster since Street Fighter 3: New Generation, which only included two legacy contenders (Ryu and Ken) and 9 newcomers. So, why is this all important?

Well, looking at Capcom’s most recently released Street Fighter venture for potential clues, we find that Street Fighter 5 had minimal newcomers up front, then added more in their post-launch seasons. Moreover, some seasons went heavy on the original fighters — like Season 2 that only saw one legacy character, Akuma, make the line up among 5 brand new warriors — and it felt like only a small handful of them ended up being big hits with the fighting game community.

Newcomers Luke and Jamie in Street Fighter 5.

Capcom is clearly making efforts to right the wrongs of Street Fighter 5 here with Street Fighter 6, as the company has come right out of the gate putting an emphasis on netcode, the amount of content we’ll be seeing in-game, and the ability for players to express themselves — all major complaints fans had about SF5. In that same vein, we could be seeing Street Fighter 6 shift the way expansions are released, mainly focusing on having fan-favorite returning fighters as those we pay for instead of a lot of newcomers that end up being more of a gamble.

One thing the community quickly noticed about Street Fighter 6 is the push to not only revamp some of the tried and true game mechanics from past games, but to pay tribute to the previous games in the franchise. We see this in not only attacks, but even various character poses that have been confirmed to be pulled straight from games like Street Fighter 2.

Drive Impact looks like it was heavily inspired by Street Fighter 4’s Focus Attack, while parries are clearly borrowed from the Street Fighter 3 series (and Street Fighter 5). There are flavors of Street Fighter Alpha 3 in the game too, and even a bit of Capcom vs. SNK 2. It really feels like Capcom is taking fan-favorite pieces of classic titles, improving on them, and using them as tools to build up a totally new identity with Street Fighter 6 while celebrating the franchise as a whole.

And yet, the game’s potential launch roster doesn’t seem to follow suit. The returning fighters consist mainly of Street Fighter 2 representatives, with only four of them being outliers.

Dee Jay is reportedly returning and hasn’t been in a game since Super Street Fighter 4 — though he too is technically a Street Fighter 2 rep, albeit from one of the later expansions. The other three are Juri (Street Fighter 4), and Ed and Rashid, both Street Fighter 5 original fighters.

This cast seems suspiciously dialed in, especially considering widely popular characters like Ibuki (Street Fighter 3) and Sakura (Street Fighter Alpha) are absent. No Street Fighter 3 and Street Fighter Alpha contenders seems very odd, and even then, we only have two characters included from Street Fighter 5 and one from Street Fighter 4.

Legacy character Chun-Li returns with a new look.

It feels like this leaves quite a bit of room to dip into these iconic games for future content, and based on some of the things we’re already seeing with Street Fighter 6, it’s possible we get expansions that blatantly revisit the games that make up the franchise’s legacy.

2022 also happens to be the 35th anniversary of the Street Fighter series, and this could also be a potential hint at themed character expansions as the company is undoubtedly wanting to honor their legacy. It would be pretty slick to see an announcement towards the end of this year revealing a roadmap that shows character passes for Street Fighter 3, Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter 5, an Street Fighter Alpha, and perhaps some fighter silhouettes for the first pack that will become available after launch.

Street Fighter 6 is slated for a release sometime in 2023. Capcom has gone quiet on the new information front for the time being, but we suspect we’ll see more around Evo time or later this year.

Oleksandr Usyk: Heavyweight champion speaks exclusively to CNN after joining Ukrainian defense battalion

Between them, the 35-year-old Usyk and the 34-year-old Lomachenko won three Olympic gold medals and have since established themselves among the elite boxers in the world.

But now they are facing a very different fight — an existential one — for the very future of their country. Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, Usyk and Lomachenko have traveled into Ukraine, taken up arms and joined the territorial defense battalion.
Speaking via a video link from a basement in Kyiv, Usyk exclusively told CNN that it’s not just invading forces he needs to look out for, but looters as well. He says that he’s prepared to take a life, if necessary.

“If they will want to take my life, or the lives of my close ones, I will have to do it,” he said. “But I don’t want that. I don’t want to shoot, I don’t want to kill anybody, but if they will be killing me, I will have no choice.”

Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas, helped coordinate the interview and translated for Usyk, who doesn’t speak English. Despite the terrifying situation that many Ukrainians now find themselves in, Usyk says that he isn’t afraid.

“Maybe, it’ll sound sentimental,” he explained, “but my soul belongs to the Lord and my body and my honor belong to my country, to my family. So there is no fear, absolutely no fear. There’s just bafflement — how could this be in the 21st century?”

He’s not in Ukraine to box right now, but the noble art is still useful in this moment. “It has helped me to be calm and mentally prepared,” he said, “And it helps me to help others who are panicking and nervous.”

Both men were outside of the country when Russia invaded; Usyk had been in London, shooting sequences for an upcoming video game.

He was intending to fly home just hours after the hostilities had commenced, but with the airports closed, he instead flew to Warsaw in Poland and drove almost 500 miles back home and over the border to Kyiv.

Lomachenko had been visiting a monastery in Greece and returned home the next day. Instead of flying directly to his hometown of Odessa, he traveled to Bucharest in Romania, then drove for nine hours to the port and caught a ferry into Ukraine.

Their manager told CNN that he didn’t know they were thinking of taking up arms until they had already signed up for the defense battalion. Former world boxing champions, Vitali — who is also the Mayor of Kyiv — and Wladimir Klitschko, have also taken up arms in defense of their nation.

‘The bombing around is crazy’

Lomachenko was scheduled to speak with CNN at the same time as Usyk but wasn’t responding to the calls from his manager at the time. Early Wednesday morning local time, Klimas confirmed to CNN that Lomachenko was safe and sound.

He and Usyk remain close: they are godfathers to each other’s children and celebrate family birthdays together. Six days into the war, Usyk knows that nowhere is safe anymore in Ukraine.

“The bombing around is crazy,” Usyk said. “They just bombed the city of Mariupol, one of my friends got a rocket in his roof. [The Russians] are not playing games.”

As the fighting rages, so too does the debate about whether Russian athletes should be sanctioned for the actions of their country. Usyk chose not to weigh in directly, suggesting that there are innocent people on both sides of the conflict.

“Russian people don’t really know exactly what’s going on here. They’re not seeing what’s going on. They are victims of their President [Vladimir Putin].”

Usyk has only just become the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO world heavyweight champion. In September, he defeated Anthony Joshua in London in a superb boxing display to claim the belts. His manager says that talks of a rematch this summer are at an advanced stage.

The lightweight Lomachenko has previously been world champion in three different weight classes and was planning to fight George Kambosos in Australia in June.

But understandably, boxing is the last thing on their minds.

“I really don’t know when I’m going to be stepping back in the ring,” said Usyk, who looked exhausted and emotional in his interview with CNN. “My country and my honor are more important to me than a championship belt.”

Usyk has three children and, during the interview, the sound of young voices could be heard playing behind him in the basement.

He says that family, friends and neighbors have been sheltering together. “When there is an air raid alarm, we hide. Of course, it’s fun when there are a lot of us here — we’re having fun. But we’re forcing ourselves to have fun.” They’re trying to keep the mood light for the kids.

But in a separate conversation with CNN, Usyk’s manager Klimas emphasized the gravity of the situation: “They’re in big danger. When the bullets start flying, the bullet doesn’t care if you’re a world champion. The bullet just goes through.”

Kanye West Says ‘Donda 2’ Will Be Released Exclusively on His Stem Player

Kanye West took to social media on Thursday night to notify fans that his forthcoming album Donda 2, which is set to drop later this month, will be released exclusively on his own platform, the Stem Player. The device costs $200 and allows users to customize tracks by isolating the different instruments and vocals that are featured on a song.

Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube,” Ye wrote in a post made to Instagram. “Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own. Go to stemplayer.com now to order.”

Ye’s post, which you can view below, also featured a short clip of music.

Donda 2 is scheduled to arrive next week on Tuesday, February 22. Ye’s Stem Player launched back in August of 2021 and was created by Yeezy Tech and Kano Computing. Head here to read more about the Stem Player and the history behind how it all came together.

Kanye’s 2016 album The Life of Pablo was also exclusively released to a platform, kind of. After arriving on Tidal exclusively, and Kanye saying that the project would “never never never” be made available anywhere else, the album was uploaded to other streaming services six weeks after its drop. This lead to a lawsuit that called the move a “deceptive marketing ploy.” The suit was eventually dismissed in 2019 after the parties involved came to an undisclosed agreement.

Speaking of Donda 2, Ye will be holding an event on the same day the project is set to drop at Miami’s LoanDepot Park stadium. A rep for Kanye previously told Complex that it will feature Ye performing live. You can head over to Ticketmaster to cop tickets for the show, which is titled “Kanye West: Donda Experience Performance.” Ye previously held events at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium during the rollout for his first Donda album.

Disney’s 2021 films to debut exclusively in cinemas | Film industry

The remainder of Disney’s 2021 film releases will debut exclusively in cinemas, the entertainment giant has said.

Movies including Marvel’s Eternals, Sir Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel and Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story remake will all arrive in theatres for a 45-day window before being made available on digital platforms.

The move hands a boost to the beleaguered cinema industry, which has struggled to entice fans back inside amid fears over the more transmissible Delta variant of Covid-19.

And it comes on the heels of the success of Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings – the first Marvel film to launch exclusively in theatres in more than two years.

The superhero movie has so far grossed more than $166m (£120m) globally , one of the best pandemic-era performances at the box office.

In August, Disney CEO Bob Chapek described the 45-day cinema exclusive release of Shang-Chi as “an interesting experiment for us” – a comment criticised by Simu Liu, the film’s leading man.

The movie’s success appears to have influenced the studio’s theatrical strategy for the rest of the year.

While Eternals, The Last Duel and West Side Story will all have a 45-day window, animated musical Encanto will play in theatres for 30 days upon its release in November, before arriving on the Disney+ streaming service.

Disney had been experimenting with simultaneous theatre and streaming releases for some of its biggest films during the pandemic, notably Marvel’s Black Widow and origins story Cruella.

The Black Widow strategy prompted a lawsuit from star Scarlett Johansson, who alleged the move cost her earnings from decreased box office receipts.

Disney issued a fiery response and the legal action remains ongoing.

A Crystal Made Exclusively of Electrons – “Holy Grail” Wigner Crystals Observed for First Time

Researchers at ETH Zurich have succeeded in observing a crystal that consists only of electrons. Such Wigner crystals were already predicted almost ninety years ago but could only now be observed directly in a semiconductor material.

Crystals have fascinated people through the ages. Who hasn’t admired the complex patterns of a snowflake at some point, or the perfectly symmetrical surfaces of a rock crystal? The magic doesn’t stop even if one knows that all this results from a simple interplay of attraction and repulsion between atoms and electrons. A team of researchers led by Ataç Imamoğlu, professor at the Institute for Quantum Electronics at ETH Zurich, have now produced a very special crystal. Unlike normal crystals, it consists exclusively of electrons. In doing so, they have confirmed a theoretical prediction that was made almost ninety years ago and which has since been regarded as a kind of holy grail of condensed matter physics. Their results were recently published in the scientific journal Nature.

A decades-old prediction

“What got us excited about this problem is its simplicity,” says Imamoğlu. Already in 1934 Eugene Wigner, one of the founders of the theory of symmetries in quantum mechanics, showed that electrons in a material could theoretically arrange themselves in regular, crystal-like patterns because of their mutual electrical repulsion. The reasoning behind this is quite simple: if the energy of the electrical repulsion between the electrons is larger than their motional energy, they will arrange themselves in such a way that their total energy is as small as possible.

For several decades, however, this prediction remained purely theoretical, as those “Wigner crystals” can only form under extreme conditions such as low temperatures and a very small number of free electrons in the material. This is in part because electrons are many thousands of times lighter than atoms, which means that their motional energy in a regular arrangement is typically much larger than the electrostatic energy due to the interaction between the electrons.

Electrons in a plane

To overcome those obstacles, Imamoğlu and his collaborators chose a wafer-thin layer of the semiconductor material molybdenum diselenide that is just one atom thick and in which, therefore, electrons can only move in a plane. The researchers could vary the number of free electrons by applying a voltage to two transparent graphene electrodes, between which the semiconductor is sandwiched. According to theoretical considerations the electrical properties of molybdenum diselenide should favor the formation of a Wigner crystal – provided that the whole apparatus is cooled down to a few degrees above the absolute zero of minus 273.15 degrees Celsius.

Electrons in a material usually behave like a disordered liquid (left), but can form a regular Wigner crystal (right) under particular conditions. Credit: ETH Zurich

However, just producing a Wigner crystal is not quite enough. “The next problem was to demonstrate that we actually had Wigner crystals in our apparatus,” says Tomasz Smoleński, who is the lead author of the publication and works as a postdoc in Imamoğlu’s laboratory. The separation between the electrons was calculated to be around 20 nanometers, or roughly thirty times smaller than the wavelength of visible light and hence impossible to resolve even with the best microscopes.

Detection through excitons

Using a trick, the physicists managed to make the regular arrangement of the electrons visible despite that small separation in the crystal lattice. To do so, they used light of a particular frequency to excite so-called excitons in the semiconductor layer. Excitons are pairs of electrons and “holes” that result from a missing electron in an energy level of the material. The precise light frequency for the creation of such excitons and the speed at which they move depend both on the properties of the material and on the interaction with other electrons in the material – with a Wigner crystal, for instance.

The periodic arrangement of the electrons in the crystal gives rise to an effect that can sometimes be seen on television. When a bicycle or a car goes faster and faster, above a certain velocity the wheels appear to stand still and then to turn in the opposite direction. This is because the camera takes a snapshot of the wheel every 40 milliseconds. If in that time the regularly spaced spokes of the wheel have moved by exactly the distance between the spokes, the wheel seems not to turn anymore. Similarly, in the presence of a Wigner crystal, moving excitons appear stationary provided they are moving at a certain velocity determined by the separation of the electrons in the crystal lattice.

First direct observation

“A group of theoretical physicists led by Eugene Demler of Harvard University, who is moving to ETH this year, had calculated theoretically how that effect should show up in the observed excitation frequencies of the excitons – and that’s exactly what we observed in the lab,” Imamoğlu says. In contrast to previous experiments based on planar semiconductors, in which Wigner crystals were observed indirectly through current measurements, this is a direct confirmation of the regular arrangement of the electrons in the crystal. In the future, with their new method Imamoğlu and his colleagues hope to investigate exactly how Wigner crystals form out of a disordered “liquid” of electrons.
