First Footage of Emilia Clarke’s Marvel Character Released (Trailer Description)

During Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, the studio revealed its Phase 5 slate and a tease of Phase 6, all while announcing a number of new films and Disney+ series. Still, that’s not to say that projects already in the works didn’t receive attention as well. In addition to new trailers for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and She-Hulk, Marvel also revealed footage of Secret Invasion coming to Disney+ in Spring 2023.

Expected to be a paranoia-driven spy thriller, Secret Invasion stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, along with MCU newcomers and established stars in Olivia Coleman and Emilia Clarke.

While on-set photos of Clarke found their way online during filming, little has been revealed about her Secret Invasion character. But now, the MCU faithful have finally seen official footage of the Game of Thrones actress in her debut MCU role during San Diego Comic-Con.

Secret Invasion Trailer Shows Emilia Clarke In Action

Marvel

During Marvel Studios’ powerhouse presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, the studio released the first trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion. Even though the trailer’s release was exclusive to Hall H, those in the audience have shared what the footage holds, including first looks at Emilia Clarke’s character.

According to Collider, the trailer kicks off with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury returning to Earth from a spaceship. Following a conversation with Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill, the footage shows a few of the show’s additional characters in action, including Clarke shooting a gun.

ComicBook claimed that the trailer included a look at Emilia Clarke following a shot of a motorcade flipping and before Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos inquires what the Skrulls want from Fury.

Given this footage and a video that leaked from the set showing Clarke’s character struggling for her life, it looks like the actress will be involved in quite a bit of action in Secret Invasion

In addition to Clarke’s presence, the trailer also showed Fury admitting that this different kind of threat is why he returned to Earth, along with footage of Kingsley Ben-Adir, Don Cheadle’s War Machine, Martin Freeman’s Everett Ross, and Olivia Coleman warning Fury that he’s “in no shape for this.”

Before the trailer was revealed, sources say that Cobie Smulders warned audiences that Secret Invasion is a “darker” MCU story and one where no one will ever know who’s a Skrull and who’s human. Just who Clarke is playing and what side she’s on remains to be seen. And due to paranoia surrounding the Skrulls, it probably won’t be fully known until the series’ conclusion.

Emilia Clarke’s Secretive Secret Invasion Role

Now that Marvel Studios has confirmed that Phase 4 of the MCU ends with November’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Secret Invasion‘s Spring of 2023 release currently has the show standing as the MCU’s second Phase 5 project and its first Disney+ series.

But even though audiences have a better idea of when the series is coming and where it belongs, Secret Invasion is still very much shrouded in, well, secrecy. Despite multiple leaked photos of Clarke on-set and filming the series, Marvel Studios has yet to confirm just who her character is.

However, that hasn’t stopped the fan base from speculating. Rumors range from Clarke playing Marvel character Daisy Johnson/Quake to the mutant SWORD Commander, Abigail Brand.

But since Secret Invasion is less than a year away, Marvel fans are sure to learn more about Clarke’s role in the show in the coming months and possibly at Marvel’s D23 presentation on Saturday, September 10.

Secret Invasion is set to debut on Disney+ in Spring 2023.

CHICAGO — Actress Emilia Clarke said parts of her brain are “missing” after suffering two aneurysms.

During an interview with BBC’s “Sunday Morning,” the “Game of Thrones” star said the life-threatening aneurysms in 2011 and 2013 left her in excruciating pain, CNN reported.

And so much of her brain was left functionless, it’s remarkable that she’s able to live a completely normal life.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke says she is ‘missing’ parts of brain after two brain aneurysms

Game of Thronesstar Emilia Clarke has opened up about the two brain aneurysms she suffered while filming the show.

The actor, 35, previously revealed she had survived two brain aneurysms in 2011 and 2013.

An aneurysm is a bulge in a blood vessel caused by a weakness in the blood vessel wall, usually where it branches.

Appearing on BBC One’s Sunday Morning on 17 July, she said: “The amount of my brain that is no longer usable – it’s remarkable that I am able to speak, sometimes articulately, and live my life completely normally with absolutely no repercussions.

“I am in the really, really, really small minority of people that can survive that.”

Talking about her brain scans, Clarke said: “There’s quite a bit missing! Which always makes me laugh.

“Because strokes, basically, as soon as any part of your brain doesn’t get blood for a second, it’s gone. And so the blood finds a different route to get around but then whatever bit it’s missing is therefore gone.”

After the aneurysms, Clarke suffered from aphasia, at one point being unable to recall her own name.

Clarke’s memory has luckily not been affected long-term, meaning she has been confident performing in the two-and-a-half-hour production of The Seagull at London’s Harold Pinter Theatre. Read The Independent’s review here.

In 2019, Clarke launched a charity, SameYou, which aims to raise money for those recovering from brain surgeries and strokes.

Clarke played Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones from 2011 to 2019.

Uvalde teacher Emilia Marin traumatized over open door claim

A teacher at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, is traumatized after authorities initially said the gunman entered the building through a door she left ajar, her attorney said.

“She can’t stop shaking,” said Don Flanary, an attorney for teacher Emilia Marin.

The educator was helping a co-worker bring in food for a party when 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos arrived at the school in Uvalde, CNN reported.

Authorities first said Ramos entered the school through a door left ajar by Marin — but the Texas Department of Public Safety has since clarified that the gunman got in via an unlocked door.

“She felt alone, like she couldn’t even grieve,” Flanary told CNN of the incorrect initial account by authorities. “She second-guessed herself, like ‘Did I not do that?’”

Marin is having trouble dealing with the insinuation that her actions contributed to the massacre, Flanary told ABC News.

“It’s traumatic for her when it’s insinuated that she’s involved, the door open,” Marin’s attorney said. “She’s heartbroken.”

Marin took immediate actions to stop Ramos’ onslaught, Flanary insisted.

“She sees him throw a bag over the fence and he has the weapon, the gun, around his chest,” Flanary recalled. “He hops the fence and starts running at her.”

Marin then kicked away the rock that was keeping the door open and slammed the door, Flanary said.

“She thought she was going to die herself,” the attorney continued. “She was waiting for him to come in. Obviously, she’s heartbroken with all the lives lost.”

Marin had dashed inside to report the crash, leaving the door propped open with a rock, Flanary said. She then returned while still on the line with cops and saw a co-worker running out to safety and others across the street at a funeral home while yelling, “He’s got a gun!”

The latest from the Texas school shooting

The gunman never encountered Marin, or her grandson, who attends the school. But the horrifying attack has left the educator tormented and she had to seek a neurologist’s care, Flanary said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed investigators determined the teacher had closed the door, but it failed to lock, ABC News reported.

Marin’s attorney told CNN the ensuing moments would have been the “most horrific thing anyone could have endured.”

Ramos started firing outside the school before making his way inside. While “frozen” in fear, Marin got a text message from her daughter asking if she was safe — but she silenced her phone, believing Ramos might hear the device, CNN reported.

“She thought he was going to come in and kill her and she made peace with that,” Flanary continued.

Ramos ultimately targeted another classroom packed with students, killing 19, along with two teachers, in the deadliest school shooting in nearly a decade.

Flanary is helping Marin in a possible civil claim against Daniel Defense, the manufacturer of the firearm used in the attack, CNN reported.

The petition doesn’t accuse the manufacturer of wrongdoing, but seeks to investigate whether Marin has legal grounds to file a claim against Daniel Defense, which did not reply to an inquiry from CNN, the network reported.

Marin does not plan on suing the school, the police or the school district, according to the report.

Her traumatic experience echoes those of other Uvalde survivors — like a third-grader who hid inside the school and prayed “so we don’t die” as an hour went by before cops killed Ramos.

Leon Hernandez, 9, told The Post Thursday he ducked beneath a desk with a female classmate as Ramos marched into the classroom and elsewhere throughout the building.

“She was praying and scared,” Leon said of his classmate. “I said we had to pray so we don’t die.”

Leon spoke to The Post Thursday outside a vigil for the victims in Uvalde. Funerals, visitations and burials for the 21 victims began on Monday and are expected to continue through mid-June.

A series of videos from the set of Secret Invasion has given us a first glimpse at a handful of returning MCU characters – and Emilia Clarke’s mystery role.

The UK’s ITV managed to capture footage of Emilia Clarke filming on location in Leeds for the upcoming Disney Plus series, which is as-yet-undated. Also spotted was Cobie Smulders, who is back at ex-SHIELD deputy director Maria Hill for the first time since a minor cameo in Avengers: Endgame.

While details of Clarke’s character remain firmly under wraps – Kevin Feige can call off the snipers – the Game of Thrones actor has previously indicated to The Hollywood Reporter that she would be open to staying long-term in the MCU.

“Everyone I know and everyone I’ve spoken to who is a part of the Marvel universe – and actors talk!” Clarke said. “Everyone has only the highest praise to offer. There’s a reason why actors stay in it. They’re so loved because they’re having loads of fun. So I’m down for that. Sure!”

Feige also teased what to expect from Secret Invasion, which also stars Olivia Colman, last year. The new Marvel series is “very much is a showcase for Sam Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn and tapping into the paranoia elements of the Secret Invasion comic series that was great with the twists and turns that that took,” he told ComicBook.com.

Emilia Clarke Joining ‘Secret Invasion’ at Marvel Studios

Emilia Clarke is in final negotiations to join Marvel Studios’ “Secret Invasion,” the hot original series quickly coming together at Disney Plus.

The “Game of Thrones” headliner’s role is naturally under wraps, and marks her first foray into the Marvel universe. She joins previously-reported cast Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Olivia Colman.

Marvel Studios declined to comment on the matter. Reps for Clarke did not immediately comment on the matter.
