Here are the five class types you can play as in Elden Ring • Eurogamer.net

“In seven days, these five brave Tarnished will cross the Sea of Fog.”

FromSoftware has revealed the five playable classes coming to Elden Ring.

In anticipation of the upcoming network test next week, a new tweet from the game’s social media channels reveals the five “Tarnished” player types from which we’ll be able to choose: Warrior, Enchanted Knight, Prophet, Champion, and Bloody Wolf.

“In seven days, these five brave Tarnished will cross the Sea of Fog,” teased a brief tweet from the game’s official Twitter page, which includes images of each of the game’s five classes.

While the names seem largely in line with what we’d expect from any action RPG,
aadly, there’s no further specific information on what the differences between the classes are, but the images do show what appears to be both the male and female variants. Here, check them out below:

We discovered yesterday that Elden Ring has a 4k graphic mode and 60fps performance mode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

As Wes reported at the time, confirmation came from a GameStop listing for Elden Ring’s Collector’s Edition, which includes a paragraph titles “Enhanced Experience”.
“Using the power of new generation of consoles, PlayStation 5, will allow players to personalise their experience by choosing between GRAPHIC MODE to enhance the game’s visuals (up to 4K) or PERFORMANCE MODE for a higher frame rate (up to 60FPS),” reads the PS5 listing, which is the same wording used on the Microsoft store, too.

Thirty Seconds Of Elden Ring Gameplay Appears To Have Leaked Online

What appears to be new Elden Ring gameplay footage is currently making the rounds on social media, seemingly offering a glimpse of how the game will run outside of official trailers.

The thirty-second clip is set on a rocky hilltop near a broken castle, with a spectral tree rising in the distance. After rotating the camera to offer a clearer look at the environment, we’re treated to the character jumping up to the hill crest, causing a pair of eagles to light into the air in a flurry of feathers.

The footage was allegedly captured on an Xbox One, though its origin remains unconfirmed. Assuming it’s legitimate, the new footage gives us a better feel for Elden Ring’s movement, particularly in terms of how the main character handles jumping.

Otherwise we still know comparatively little about Elden Ring, though we’re just a few months from its release date. In an interview with IGN, director Hidetaka Miyazaki described the open world and the gameplay, but little else has been shown in terms of official footage.

The Best Games of 2021

Regardless, Elden Ring remains highly anticipated, not the least because Dark Souls and Bloodborne are some of the finest action games ever made. With Elden Ring Ring due early next year, hopefully we’ll get to see more of this open world Soulsborne game very soon.

Elden Ring is currently set to release January 21, 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can find our impressions of Elden Ring’s first 15 minutes of gameplay right here.

Brief Elden Ring Gameplay Clip Leaks Online

Elden Ring has a dedicated jump button, an on-screen compass, and ambient music. That is pretty much all this leaked gameplay clip will tell you considering its short length of 27 seconds, but it’s worth sharing all the same considering the current secrecy surrounding the title. This is supposed gameplay taken from an Xbox One build, which is most definitely worth taking into consideration when viewing.

According to members of the press who saw gameplay in person for a previous round of previews, this clip wasn’t part of that media beat. If we were betting men, we’d put money on Elden Ring showing up at The Game Awards at the end of the year; it is still due out in January 2022, after all. Until then, we can dissect this somewhat poor quality capture of the game.

The clip has already been removed from a number of YouTube channels but can still be found on some Twitter posts.

At only 27 seconds long, it doesn’t show a great deal, but does show the player looking around a rocky environment with a large fortress in the background.

Elden Ring takes place in a world called the Lands Between, which was created in collaboration with Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin, who was tasked with creating the game’s lore.

Whatever their appearance and chosen attributes, they will take on the role of one of many Tarnished individuals, whose ancestors were exiled from the Lands Between many years ago.

But when the Elden Ring is shattered, they get the chance to return and conquer the land they were once banished from.

Elden Ring – Gameplay reveal

The Lands Between is mainly made up of six large areas ruled by demigods, characters also written by Martin, who serve as the game’s main bosses and don’t have to be tackled in a set order. Elden Ring supports fast travel and will also include a hub area accessible partway through the game.

Martin stated in an interview in June that his work on the game had finished years ago.

“My work on it was actually done years ago,” Martin explained. “These games, they’re like movies, they take a long time to develop.

“Basically, they wanted a world created to set the game in. World building is a big factor in fantasy and science fiction. You’re not only talking characters and the plot, but the setting is almost as important as everything else: Tolkien’s Middle-Earth, Robert E. Howard’s Hyborian Age, the foundation universe of Isaac Asimov.

“I worked up a fairly detailed background for them and then they took it from there. So really it’s been several years since I last seen them but they would come and periodically show me some monsters they’d designed or the latest special effects, or [other] cool things.

“The game has been slowly developing and now it’s coming out in January, I believe, so I’ll be as excited as anybody else to see it.”

Elden Ring’s In-Game Text Is Being Written by Miyazaki, Not George R.R. Martin

When Elden Ring was first announced, one of the biggest surprises is how it’s a collaboration between FromSoftware and A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin. Since then, more information about the collaboration has come to light and while Martin was responsible for creating the overall world and mythos of Elden Ring, the in-game text is being director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

“In From fashion, the story is told in fragments, and we haven’t changed our principle of providing a world and narrative that the player can interpret for themselves,” FromSoft’s Yasuhiro Kitao says.

And while this means lore can still be discovered by item text and cutscenes, NPC dialogue will also contribute significantly to world-building, and Miyazaki is “at the forefront of the text, writing the text in the game.”

In an interview with IGN from earlier this year, Miyazaki explained that Martin helped build the world, including the Lands Between, and central narrative. However, Martin himself said that he finished his contributions to Elden Ring “years ago” and development continued to build on the foundations established by Martin.

Miyazaki praised Martin and said the author’s contributions led Elden Ring to be more character-focused than previous FromSoft games. “He brought things to the table that we couldn’t have done by ourselves, in terms of that rich storytelling and that sense of character and drama.”

Given that Martin’s most famous work involves complicated character dynamics and the way people interact with each other while vying for power, this makes sense. With the open-ended, in-game text handled by Miyazaki, it sounds like fans will get the best of both Miyazaki and Martin’s worlds in Elden Ring.

Check out IGN’s full preview of Elden Ring as well as how the new summoning mechanic is being carefully designed to not impact the game’s overall difficulty.

Elden Ring trailer appears to leak online

Is this the first footage from the game?

Bandai Namco

Since its reveal at E3 2019, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring has become a highly anticipated game. It’ll likely be a must-play for many gamers when it’s released for the PS4, PC and Xbox One. The Dark Souls developer worked with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin to create a new world, and thanks to a new leak, fans may finally be getting a glimpse of the action.

Snippets of a purported trailer first appeared on Twitter on Monday, and then a trailer was uploaded to YouTube. The video has not yet been confirmed by publisher Bandai Namco as the trailer for the upcoming game.

The footage contains a few trademarks for FromSoftware’s games. In one shot, the player’s character sneaks behind an enemy and stabs them in the back. There are two glances at magic being used in combat with one surrounding the character and then shooting out, similar to the Homing Soulmass spell in the Dark Souls games. There’s also a spell that appears to create a magic spear that’s similar to the various magic weapon spells found in the developer’s games. And it wouldn’t be a FromSoftware game without huge bosses as shown multiple times in the leaked trailer.

The Elden Ring News YouTube channel uploaded a second part of the leaked trailer. This one doesn’t show combat like the first, but it has a bit more of the world the game takes place in. The narrators also mentioned how the player “crossed the sea of fog all the way to the Riftlands.”

Fog is another mainstay of FromSoftware’s games, with boss areas usually blocked off by a wall of fog. There also is a quick shot of three different player classes, and one has the typical wizard attire. In FromSoftware games, with the exception of Sekiro, players have starting classes to choose from that will have different stats and equipment.

Two more leaks appeared Monday and were combined with the first two to create an almost two-minute trailer. The final videos were recorded from a screen like the first two, but it appears to be a different location and there’s no audio. More of the world is shown and, again, looks very similar to FromSoftware’s Dark Souls games. Then in the final leak, a character in robes appears and seems to be the antagonist in the game.

There’s not much known about Elden Ring outside of the small bits of information released in 2019. The game’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, said that Martin created the mythos and that this would be one of the developer’s biggest games ever. Elden Ring’s initial release date was set for March, but it appears to have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday, Bandai Namco also trademarked “Bandia Namco Next,” according to Nibellion on Twitter. This could be the publisher’s own showcase happening soon, which would likely prominently feature Elden Ring.

Bandai Namco didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
