Who Stood Tall After 8/31 AEW Dynamite Went Off The Air

Will Ospreay & Aussie Open of United Empire had the last laugh despite losing to Kenny Omega & Young Bucks of The Elite in the main event of the 7/31 “AEW Dynamite.”

After the show went off the air, Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher & Mak Davis rushed back to the ring to carry out a vicious attack on The Elite, using steel chairs while executing their signature moves on the AEW originals. This included Ospreay hitting a Stormbreaker on Nick Jackson and a Hidden Blade on Omega. According to fans at the arena, Don Callis stood outside the ring and watched helplessly. Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler didn’t get involved, either.

A video of the attack can be seen below.

A little later, Young Bucks shared a photo of themselves & Omega recovering in the backstage area with ice packs taped to various parts of their body, possibly selling the attack at the hands of the United Empire.

AEW’s social media also released official post-show footage, while questioning if Omega & Bucks will be 100% going into the final of the AEW World Trios tourney this Sunday at the All Out pay-per-view.

It appears The Elite vs. United Empire rivalry will continue going forward. The Elite will face either Best Friends & Orange Cassidy or Dark Order & Hangman Page, with the winners being crowned the inaugural AEW World Trios Champions.

More On CM Punk Reportedly Going Off-Script And Calling Out Adam Page On AEW Dynamite

CM Punk’s opening promo on “AEW Dynamite” reportedly had more intentions than just building to All Out. Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that Punk’s comments against Hangman Page were not planned by AEW, and Mike Johnson of PWInsider provided more details.

PWInsider backs up that Punk’s words for Page were “100% a shoot” and that the two have an issue that carries over the course of the past few months. During their feud, Page presented Punk as an outsider of AEW, someone Page was going to have to defend the company from. Punk defeated Page clean for the AEW World Title at Double or Nothing, but had to put his reign on hold due to a broken foot. Punk reportedly took the opportunity to give Page a receipt for those comments in this promo. According to Johnson, Page and Punk had no communication with one another before or after Wednesday night’s program, but Page seemingly alluded to Punk’s promo on Twitter.

Punk started his promo by addressing Page and included an immediate challenge for Page to fight him. Punk awaited as he sat cross-legged in the middle of the ring with his title laid out in front of him, but there was no response. Punk then turned Page’s “Cowboy Sh-t” catchphrase to “Coward Sh-t” with no retaliation from the babyface former champion. Page was not seen on the entire episode.

AEW Dynamite Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from July 6 | Bleacher Report

0 of 8

Two championship matches highlighted the July 6 episode of AEW Dynamite, live from Rochester, New York as Royal Rampage winner Brody King challenged AEW Interim World Champion Jon Moxley and TNT champion Scorpio Sky defended against Wardlow in a Street Fight.

Who emerged from those two title bouts victoriously, how did first-time teammates Toni Storm and Thunder Rosa fare against the destructive duo of Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir, and what did the dastardly Christian Cage and the monstrous Luchasaurus have in store for the AEW locker room?

Find out with this recap of Wednesday’s TBS broadcast.

Wardlow continued his monumental 2022 Wednesday night as he challenged Scorpio Sky for the TNT Championship in a Street Fight. American Top Team, coach Dan Lambert and “All Ego” Ethan Page accompanied the champion to the ring for the most challenging defense of his career.

Wardlow overcame an early bump over the ring steps, incessant interference on behalf of the heel’s entourage, and a shot to the face with the TNT Championship to mount a comeback and deliver a massive spinebuster to the champ.

Two massive powerbombs later and the big man captured his first title in AEW, pinning Sky with a single foot on his chest.

This was not a particularly good match, but it did not have to be. There were plenty of bells and whistles as the participants attempted to protect the injured Sky, but it worked within the context of the story.

The heel cheated and relied on his associates, but no shortcut could halt the path of rage Wardlow forged in this match. One of the hottest babyfaces in the industry following his storyline with MJF and victory over the scarf-wearing heel back at Double or Nothing, he absolutely should have won and did, adding another significant achievement early in his still-young career.

Matt Hardy interrupted Christian Cage and Luchasaurus’ promo, instigating a one-sided back-and-forth that saw the turtleneck-wearing heel light the former up with insults directed at him, his immediate family, and brother, Jeff.

The relatively brief segment ended with Luchasaurus putting a combative Hardy through a table as fans got their first taste of the placeholder feud until Jungle Boy comes back.

Cage is the definition of fantastic in this role and his promo skills have been on a whole other level. With that said, the knocks about Jeff, though probably cleared ahead of time, were cheap and totally unnecessary.

Sure, they generated heat but The Charismatic Enigma is in a very real fight for his sobriety and using that battle and the seriousness for the sake of some jeers is unnecessary.

Besides, there is plenty to poke fun at or insult about the at times all-over-the-place nature of Matt’s character without crossing that line of good taste.

Add to that the fact that Cage just verbally obliterated Matt, a guy he and Luchasaurus will likely battle in the coming weeks, and you have more than enough reason to find fault with this segment.

The battle for the top spot in the tag team division continued as the team of Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland battled The Butcher and The Blade.

A sometimes disjointed match featured expected physicality and saw the latter tandem dominate for a large portion of the bout. The babyfaces fought back and scored the win to enhance their argument for an AEW world tag team title opportunity.

A fiery post-match promo from Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs gave way to an interruption from world champs The Young Bucks, who issued a challenge for a three-way title bout next week.

The match was fine, but not quite as good as it should have been given the talent. It often appeared as though the two teams were on different pages, leading to some spots that were just a tad off.

The promo from Team Taz was electric and featured Starks going off on Strickland and Lee with the type of intensity we had yet to see from him to that point. It was straight fire and reflective of a guy who has found himself on the mic. He’s confident, can be cocky or angry, and understands the assignment each and every time.

The three-way between the teams in question (Bucks, Team Taz, and Strickland/Lee) will be extraordinary and, as fans so adeptly pointed out, is lacking one tandem: FTR. Expect the Bucks to retain and set up a showdown with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler over Labor Day weekend in Chicago for All Out.

Following a promo from Malakai Black on tonight’s main event between Jon Moxley and The House of Black’s Brody King, Eddie Kingston joined Tony Schiavone for an in-ring promo.

After teasing the idea of a first blood match with Chris Jericho, cameras caught up with The Wizard and The Jericho Appreciation Society in the parking garage, where Tay Conti slammed a car door on Ruby Soho’s hand.

AEW has done a great job of establishing the friendship of Kingston and Soho so an angle like this had meaning. Jericho and Kingston deserve an opportunity to settle their differences once and for all, but adding Soho and Conti for a mixed tag is far from a terrible idea.

  • “Oh wait, I don’t have to apologize for anything…we started this damn company,” Matt Jackson said. “Everyone is eating well but let us not forget who set the table in the first place.”
  • The Bucks dismissing the crowd’s chants of FTR was a great bit of foreshadowing for what should be a legitimate main event option for the upcoming All Out PPV.

The Dark Order’s John Silver, Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno, Pres10 Vance, Anna Jay and Brodie Jr. (-1) hit the ring in the hometown of the late, great Mr. Brodie Lee and announced that the faction is here to stay.

Back in the squared circle, Penta Oscuro sought to avenge his brother, Rey Fenix, who was beaten down and disgraced via unmasking by Andrade El Idolo and Rush. Oscuro battled the latter, a former Ring of Honor world champion, in singles competition.

Oscuro rolled entering the commercial break but Rush downed him and controlled the action throughout the picture-in-picture timeout.

The masked antihero fought back into the match and appeared to be rolling following a package piledriver. Andrade put his La Faccion Ingobernables teammate’s foot on the rope, preventing the count, then provided a distraction that allowed Rush to deliver a low blow, unmask Penta and score the tainted win.

The match, like most of the night’s in-ring action to this point, felt a step off. Both men are great wrestlers and have shown as much across numerous countries, but this did not quite live up to the expectations when the match was announced late Wednesday.

The finish certainly escalates the rivalry and sets up a future tag match between the two tandems that, hopefully, will be better and meet those lofty expectations set by fans who know all too well what everyone involved is capable of.

A week after dissension between The Acclaimed and The Gunn Club reigned supreme, the two teams sought to put their differences behind them as they battled Leon Ruff, Bear Country and Fuego del Solo in eight-man tag action.

The match was little more than a showcase for the breakdown in friendship between the aforementioned tandems. Despite The Acclaimed doing the work, it was Austin Gunn who selfishly tagged himself in and scored the victory for his team.

A post-match betrayal from Billy Gunn on The Acclaimed, proving that blood is indeed thicker than water, solidified what many have expected was coming for weeks now: a babyface turn for Anthony Bowens and Max Caster.

The Acclaimed has been red-hot and is routinely generating some of the biggest, loudest and most passionate responses in AEW. The time is here to turn them babyface and reap the rewards.

Best of all, AEW is resisting the urge to push them too hard, too fast by having them work with a team like Gunn Club, who they should dispatch and begin their ascent up the tag ranks. Kudos to Austin, Colten and Billy, though, who have been very effective in helping necessitate the turn.

The newly formed tandem of AEW World Women’s champion Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm battled Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir in tag team action.

The heels cut Storm down and worked her over during the commercial break, establishing dominance until the Aussie was able to take advantage of a momentary opening and make the hot tag to Rosa.

The champ and her former top contender came back and Rosa put Shafir away with the Thunder Fire Driver for the pinfall victory.

The match, like the rest on the show to this point, was perfectly acceptable but lacked the overall quality we have come to expect from AEW.

The fire from Rosa was great and Storm continues to be one of the more consistent performers in the division, but the match did little more than introduce the idea of Storm and Rosa as a tag team and, as the commentary team hinted afterward, sell some T-shirts.

  • Following the win, Excalibur hinted that a new shirt for Thunderstorm will likely be up on Shop AEW very soon. Ironically enough, that feels like the entire purpose of bringing the two babyfaces together. Otherwise, there was very little in the way of explanation for why they would suddenly be an effective team, let alone able to beat the opposition in their first go-round.
  • Daniel Garcia challenged Wheeler Yuta for the Ring of Honor Pure Championship at Death Before Dishonor on July 23.

William Regal warned that Brody King was a tremendously dangerous challenger for AEW Interim World champion and Blackpool Combat Club member Jon Moxley and the big man of The House of Black wasted little time proving it.

He dominated the match early and often, cutting Moxley down and wrestling control of the match away from the champ following a side suplex on the entrance ramp that saw the tenacious babyface’s tailbone crash into the elevated, diamond-plated part of it.

Every time Moxley attempted a sustained comeback, King cut him off. He put Moxley to sleep in the ropes, then followed with a corner cannonball, but could not put the champ down. Moxley eventually delivered the Paradigm Shift, added the hammer and nail elbows, and applied the bulldog choke.

King escaped but Moxley reapplied the hold for the win via referee’s decision.

The match was rushed considerably to meet television time and the show still ran over by two minutes. As such, it did not have the time to really breathe and develop into the badass battle between two ferocious competitors that it could have been.

The fans in Rochester reacted accordingly, finding it difficult to fully engross in without a defined comeback.

The match was a great representation of the show as a whole in that the potential was certainly there but not everything clicked and the result was so-so rather than the fantastic championship clash between two wholly unique performers that it could have been.

That the finish came out of nowhere after 10 minutes of King dominating did not help the narrative, either.

AEW Dynamite recap & reactions (July 6, 2022): King of monsters

AEW Dynamite (July 6, 2022) emanated from Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY. The show featured Jon Moxley fighting a monster to defend the AEW Interim World Championship and Wardlow ushering in a new era as TNT champion.

Get caught up on all the Dynamite details with the excellent play-by-play from Claire Elizabeth.

Jon Moxley is the king of monsters

Jon Moxley brought the ruckus for the main event of Dynamite. He didn’t have much choice considering his opponent was the 6’5” 285-pound Brody King. Mox went to war with a monster to defend the AEW Interim World Championship.

Moxley hyped the main event with a backstage promo. People think King will catch Mox off guard as a monster. Blackpool Combat Club finds limits and pushes them. The question will be if King has a monster-sized heart to survive.

Malakai Black did the speaking for the House of Black. He envies Moxley’s decision to inflict pain upon himself, and he also envies that Moxley will get to experience pain at the hands of King. The House will make sure the fight goes far beyond the physical realm of pain.

Ding, ding, ding. King delivered a power blow to knock Moxley down. The champ got up in the challenger’s face. Mox threw a few shots, then King knocked him down on his keister again with one mighty strike. King was established early as a monster.

King manhandled Moxley around the ring. Mox caused King to crash into the ring steps then used a side Russian leg sweep to smash King into the guardrail. Mox went for a piledriver on the floor, however, King reversed for a back body drop onto concrete.

Inside the ring, Mox adjusted with better judgement to attack the leg with a dragon screw and figure-four. King was a tough man to keep down. Moxley ran right into a sidewalk slam. King unloaded power chops. Moxley found an opening to dodge a running cannonball. Mox made his move for various chokes and a superplex. Mox stomped King’s head to soften the monster. King rose up to flatten Moxley with a lariat. King had his chance for victory on a piledriver. 1, 2, Mox kicked out. If King was going to win, that was the moment that had me guessing.

Moxley worked for chokes again, but King battered him into the corner for the break. King landed the corner cannonball. Moxley kicked out on the cover. Moxley went into overdrive down the stretch. He hit a DDT and hammered elbows for a chokehold. King decided to fall backwards onto the mat to slam his own weight on top of Mox and break the submission. King didn’t separate quickly enough. Moxley sat back up to snatch King’s neck for another choke. A transition to the bulldog choke sealed the deal. The referee ruled that King was out and awarded the victory to Moxley.

There were no surprises in this match. I don’t mean that as a bad thing. Moxley went to war with a monster and came out as king. We’ve seen that story before. This time was just as entertaining. The story was straightforward for Moxley working different tactics until he managed to pummel King into submission. It was strategic blunt force.

King did well in his role. I wouldn’t say it was a breakout performance, but he definitely showed that he won’t wilt under pressure. This was the biggest stage of his career, and he did fine considering the story being told. It wasn’t the type of loss to damage his aura.

Wardlow’s world

Wardlow is the new TNT champion after pounding down Scorpio Sky and friends in a street fight. Despite being outnumbered, Wardlow didn’t have too much trouble en route to victory.

Sky was flanked by Dan Lambert, Ethan Page, and four other fighters from American Top Team. Sky’s strategy was to use his speed to pick Wardlow apart. When that tactic failed due to Wardlow’s overwhelming strength advantage, Sky went for a blatant low-blow, which was legal due to the street fight rules. Wardlow stomached the pain and proceeded to suplex Sky across the ring.

The numbers game eventually stomped on Wardlow, but it couldn’t keep the big man down. Wardlow connected on a swanton to Sky then posted up for the powerbomb symphony. Lambert sent in the goons for the save. Wardlow clotheslined them all and military pressed the smallest over the ropes onto the entire group below on the floor. Sky bashed Wardlow in the head with the title belt. 1, 2, kick out.

Lambert was on the apron directing traffic. Wardlow escaped a fireman’s carry lift to shove Sky into Lambert. On the bounce back, Wardlow planted Sky with a spinebuster slam. Three powerbombs later and Wardlow was the new TNT titleholder. Confetti rained from the ceiling and flames ignited on stage.

The match wasn’t as one-sided as my description, however, Sky never had any serious offensive spurts. Aside from using the title as a foreign object and receiving help from outsiders, the story was destined for Wardlow to achieve his goal. With the way Wardlow has been built up as a steamrolling powerhouse, victory was the only sensible outcome.

Wardlow’s run puts him at the cream of the crop in AEW right now. There is a lot of talent that could beat him on any given night, but it will be an extremely tough task to conquer Wardlow’s power game. AEW has a chance to build the superstar babyface with a long title reign taking Wardlow into the world title picture. I’m all for giving it a shot. Once he racks up enough wins, the prospect of a streak breaker will bring another level of excitement. It could be a win-win situation. Either Wardlow catches fire as a top guy, or someone earns the rub dethroning him.

Let’s jam through the rest of Dynamite.

Clout chaser. Christian Cage entered with Luchasaurus by his side to mock fans demanding to know why the dino ditched Jungle Boy. Matt Hardy interrupted. He also used talent to leech a paycheck, but he hates himself for it. Hardy wants to make sure Christian doesn’t get away with the same thing. Christian dropped classless insults about Matt’s delusional stance making Jeff Hardy seem like the more sober brother and also how Matt turned a blind eye to use Jeff for one last run at greatness. Christian viewed Matt as a clout chaser trying to steal Christian’s limelight. Fisticuffs ensued with Luchasaurus stepping in to chokeslam Matt through a table.

This promo piece was right in line with Christian’s excellent work of late. He stooped to dastardly levels with verbal insults. Luchasaurus added an imposing presence as protector. Both Christian and Hardy did a good job addressing past actions in AEW, so this didn’t come off like a whitewashed hero trip for Hardy. It also helped position Hardy as a reformed man trying to do right. That makes it easier to fall in line to cheer him for this feud. Not that Christian hasn’t been acting heinous enough in his own right to be showered with jeers no matter who stands across from him.

Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland defeated Butcher & Blade. Bunny was the helping hand on the outside for the meat packers. It wasn’t enough though. After Blade pulled Swerve in front of a shoulder block from Lee, the good guys regrouped to win via flying stomp powerbomb combo finisher to pin Blade.

Exciting tag team action driven by potential tension between Lee and Swerve. The execution of the teammate bump wasn’t so slick. Swerve connected on a rolling cutter and spinning kick then was conveniently too woozy to realize his whereabouts. The accidental pounce from Lee felt forced into the flow. Lee made up for it in the end by helping Swerve balance on the turnbuckles for their finisher. A fist-pound from Lee seemed to imply that all was forgiven. From a story perspective, I’m glad that everything worked out in the end on this evening, however, I wouldn’t be surprised if Swerve dishes out perceived payback once their winning streak ends.

Young Bucks call their shot. In the aftermath of Lee and Swerve winning, Will Hobbs stormed down with Ricky Starks to insult the audacity of them thinking they are on the same level as Team Taz. Starks’ reference to being the best tag team in AEW brought out the Young Bucks. The Jacksons were happy that the tag team division was eating well, but don’t forget who set the table. The champs challenged Lee & Swerve and Starks & Hobbs to a three-way AEW tag title defense next week.

I have mixed feelings about the promo session. Team Taz was excellent with engaging words, especially Starks spitting hot fire. Even the Bucks had good points despite their mediocre delivery. My issue is that this is weak matchmaking from AEW. It is too similar to the Jurassic Express defense. The Bucks are not losing the belts next week, so there is no drama in rehashing the three-way. While the title bout will no doubt entertain, AEW poured cold water on the feud between Team Taz and Lee & Swerve. They have reached a boiling point, and it’s time to pull the trigger on that contest.

Rush defeated Penta Oscuro. Rush set up for the Bull’s Horns finishing dropkick, but Penta countered for a rolling cutter, thrust kick, and package piledriver. Andrade placed Rush’s foot on the apron for the break. Fenix confronted Andrade, and that distracted the referee. Rush struck for a low blow and removed Penta’s mask for the winning roll-up.

This match is a marquee bout in the lucha libre world. Rush and Pentagon were delivering strong with intensity as a grudge match, then the execution of the closing sequence completely took me out of the moment. It revolved around Penta’s rolling cutter rally. Rush was in total control gearing up to finish. He just stopped in his tracks like he experienced a fit of dizziness to wait for Penta’s rolling cutter. The timing made it look terrible, hokey, and nonsensical. On the positive, the rest of the bout was a great taste of things to come between Los Ingobernables and the Lucha Bros.

The Acclaimed & Gunn Club defeated Bear Country, Leon Ruffin, & Fuego del Sol. The Gunn Club snatched the mic away from Max Caster to stifle the rapping entrance. For the finish, Caster connected on the Mic Drop flying elbow, but Austin Gunn tagged in to steal the pin. Afterward, the Gunn sons and Acclaimed shoved each other. Billy Gunn angrily pulled away his sons then viciously clotheslined Caster. Anthony Bowens wanted to scissor daddy. Billy gave him a Fameasser instead.

I don’t have a clue what to make of papa Billy’s actions this week. The group still has my attention though. A good explanation will be vital to keeping interest. A shabby explanation could quickly derail this whole story into garbage territory with Billy’s confusing turns.

Thunder Rosa & Toni Storm defeated Nyla Rose & Marina Shafir. Storm turned the tide to break a pinfall and attack for a pendulum DDT to Nyla and a German suplex to Shafir. Thunderstorm teamed up for a flying buttocks squeeze into a Fire Thunder Driver to Shafir.

Both teams worked well together as proper units. The combo moves flowed smoothly to add drama. Speaking of drama, there were no issues between the champ and her partner. Whatever AEW has in mind for the near future, it does not appear to be another feud between Thunder and Storm.

Notes: Prior to the broadcast, Mark Sterling began a petition to ban Swerve Strickland from AEW. During the show, he was joined by Tony Nese to approach Keith Lee about signing the People Against Swerve Strickland (P.A.S.S.). Lee admitted trust issues with Swerve, but they are still tag partners who are winning. No dice for Sterling.

Later, Sterling also approached Orange Cassidy. OC brought in his lawyer, Danhausen. A proposal was made. If Nese defeats Cassidy on Rampage, then OC will sign the P.A.S.S. petition.

The fallout from Blood & Guts will see Claudio Castagnoli versus Jake Hager next week. Hager wants respect as an undefeated MMA fighter. Claudio vowed to have his hand raised in victory against Hager.

Sticking with Blood & Guts fallout, Eddie Kingston is mad at Chris Jericho for making him a lair. Kingston never got to taste Jericho’s blood, so he’s going to keep coming. Jericho interrupted on the big screen to show craziness. Tay Conti slammed a car door on Ruby Soho’s arm.

Dark Order and -1 honored Mr. Brodie Lee in his hometown. QT Marshall interrupted looking for a singles match against -1. Hangman Page came down to kick off a ping pong session on QT. He was bounced all around the ring. -1 decided to wait until he is 19 years old to pin QT. The other message was that the remaining members of the Dark Order aren’t going anywhere. This was a reference to any concern of a breakup after Stu Grayson and 5 departed AEW. This segment was harmless fun for a good cause.

Samoa Joe versus Jay Lethal for the ROH TV title was announced for the ROH PPV for July 23. Lethal knows it won’t be an easy fight, but he will win the championship. Also for the ROH show, Daniel Garcia will challenge Wheeler Yuta for the ROH Pure Championship. FTR issued a rematch challenge to the Briscoes with the ROH tag titles on the line.

Miro was back with another awesome promo. The target was Malakai Black. A man who preys on the flawed has enraged a flawless man. Miro is a man that rattles the gates of Heaven and a man that will destroy the gates of Hell. The Redeemer is coming for Black.

Stokely Hathaway explained his Baddies recruitment of Leila Grey. He paid for her to be an interim Baddie. His quick thinking figured 3-on-2 was better than 2-on-2. Jade Cargill was not pleased. If this doesn’t work out, Hathaway will be on the hook.

Stud of the Show: Ricky Starks

The emotion from Starks turned his promo to entertainment gold. He hyped up the fight so well that I am disappointed we have to wait even longer for a straight up tag team showdown.

Match of the Night: Jon Moxley vs. Brody King

A simple and satisfying slugfest of a badass conquering a monster.

Grade: B+

Entertaining action and entertaining promos made the show zoom. A few hiccups lowered the grade a little. Some feuds are reaching a point that need resolution to move on, while others are feeling fresh with possibilities.

Since most pop stars need to pack out arena shows to make their presence felt, the pandemic has been an understandably unpredictable time for plenty of the world’s most famous musicians. But several of the biggest stars opted to go right back to releasing music without a hitch, like Taylor Swift’s double whammy, folklore and evermore in 2020, or Billie Eilish swiftly following up her breakout debut just two years later, in 2021, with Happier Than Ever. Taking their cue from these artists, who seemed to intuit that even without tours, fans wanted more new music, less than a year after their last release, BTS dropped a massive anthology for fans to dig into.

It’s worth noting that the band also performed a series of one-off shows in massive American markets like LA and Las Vegas to keep their live show top of mind, even if a full-blown global tour hasn’t made sense for them yet. Clearly, the world’s biggest boy band aren’t going to let a minor catastrophe like a pandemic stop their momentum, and a sort of exponential energy of late that just keeps building. Proof is the latest entry into their quickly growing discography, and with a collection of almost fifty tracks, the album is making a case for the band’s progress.

Even if “Butter,” released in 2021, or “Dynamite,” from the summer of 2020, was what really put the band on the map for some American listeners, BTS has actually been together for quite some time. And for those who study the inevitable trajectory of incredibly successful group acts, that longevity is a testament to their patience. Forming over a decade ago, back in 2010, they released their debut EP, 2 Cool 4 Skool, in 2013 — and put out a whopping eight albums before 2020’s Be, which was anchored by the mainstream hit, “Dynamite,” their first all English language single. The group’s early work is mostly split between Korean and Japanese language albums, but more recent releases have prioritized English in their songs, and their success in America has strongly correlated with that move. On Proof, the song selection runs the gamut, with inclusion from all three phases, and a reminder that these guys aren’t just producing hits in the US — they’re superstars around the world.

Coming almost ten years after that first release, Proof is more song cycle than record, a sprawling declaration of the band’s global influence and practically a symposium on their range. Across 48 songs that are divided into two sections — with only the first two available on streaming, a third full of rare demos and unreleased material has been relegated to physical releases only — the seven-member collective is proud to remind the world of their vast back catalog. Each of the album’s three sections also includes a new song, giving listeners something current to chew on even as they dig deeper into the BTS discography.

The first new song, and de facto lead single for the album, is a soft rock track called “Yet To Come,” one that falls in line with other slower, more introspective tracks from the group, like “Life Goes On.” The band also released a brand new video to accompany this track, elevating it a bit beyond the other two with additional visual treatment. The second new release, “Run BTS,” feels like a sly tribute to another three-letter rap group (Run DMC, natch), and doubles down on their hip-hop roots — even if their government isn’t necessarily thrilled about that connection.

Reportedly, this single and another track, “Born Singer,” were banned by Korea’s government-run TV channel. Proof marks the first official release for “Born Singer,” making it technically a new song, too, though it’s existed as a SoundCloud loosie for years now. The song is a modified version/remix/sample of J Cole’s “Born Sinner,” not only doubling down on the hip-hop influences the group has always embraced, but giving an old declaration of intent a proper release. Initially, the song dropped right after their debut EP, a ferocious declaration of where they knew they were headed.

The final new track, and the only part of Proof’s third act that’s available on streaming, is another schmaltzy tune, “For Youth,” and all of this emotionalism should’ve prepped listeners that big news was likely coming. Because one of the other things Proof so effectively does is showcase each member’s distinctive sound and talents, so the news that they’re focusing on some solo endeavors after this anthology is not all that surprising. They’re clear that this is not a break-up, and leaving fans with a big collection of material is definitely a way to connect with The Army until they’re back together again.

In this context, Proof also serves as a monument — a tribute to what the band once was, an end of an era and a start of a new chapter. In that sense, it becomes infinitely more valuable, and serves exactly the purpose it was designed for — proving their worth.

Proof is out now via Big Hit. Stream it here.

MJF Pipebomb On AEW Dynamite Reportedly Didn’t Go According To Plan

It’s been less than 48 hours since MJF sent shockwaves through the wrestling world with his pipebomb, and while the promo greatly upped his personal stock, AEW reportedly had a slightly different plan for the ‘worked shoot’ segment.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW’s plan was for MJF to cut a heel promo, and then have his mic cut off midway through, with the idea that the segment was unplanned and he was out of control. The promo was reportedly supposed to resemble Brian Pillman’s worked shoot promos from WCW in the mid-1990s.

However, MJF spoke for nearly nine minutes before his mic was eventually cut, which was reportedly not the plan. Furthermore, MJF was wildly cheered by fans at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, especially during the end of the promo, particularly while talking about ex-WWE guys “who can’t lace my boots.”

MJF getting positive reactions was clearly not the plan, and the crowd cheering MJF “made the promotion seem uncool,” the report added. Dave Meltzer then compared MJF receiving loud pops to nWo getting cheered in WCW despite working as the heels. He further noted that nWo’s popularity made WCW look “uncool and incompetent” and eventually killed the babyfaces in the company and caused long-term damage to the WCW brand.

Meltzer also confirmed that CM Punk sprinting down to the ring during the commercial break to confront MJF was part of AEW’s plan. MJF, of course, ran away through the crowd, and his promo was never acknowledged for the rest of the show.

On a related note, Fightful Select reported Thursday that a lot of AEW talents backstage are convinced that the MJF – Tony Khan dispute is a work, and part of an elaborate storyline. If the dispute is indeed a work, AEW took it up a notch Thursday by removing all traces of The Salt of the Earth from their website and merchandise store.

A ‘Dynamite’ guest at the White House: BTS meets with Biden on anti-Asian discrimination

Placeholder while article actions load

A horde of eager journalists began to crowd the aisles of the White House briefing room Tuesday long before the daily parrying session with reporters would begin — and they weren’t there for Brian Deese.

For one afternoon, the White House became an exclusive stage for global K-pop phenomenon BTS, with each of the 49 briefing room seats becoming the most coveted tickets in town. The group had been invited by the administration to raise awareness of the prevalence of anti-Asian discrimination.

“We are BTS,” said RM, whose formal name is Kim Nam-Joon and is considered the megagroup’s de facto leader, as he stepped up to the briefing room lectern. “It is a great honor to be invited to the White House today to discuss the important issues of anti-Asian hate crimes, Asian inclusion and diversity.”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who opened up for the group, noted that while “many of you many know BTS as Grammy-nominated international icons, they also play an important role as youth ambassadors, promoting a message of respect and positivity.”

The other group members then took turns delivering their own messages in Korean. Later, an interpreter summed up their various messages, such as: “equality begins when we open up and embrace all of our differences” and “we hope today is one step forward to respecting and understanding each and every one as a valuable person.”

Then RM returned to the lectern.

“Lastly, we thank President Biden and the White House for giving this important opportunity to speak about the important causes,” he said. “Remind ourselves of what we can do as artists.”

After their star turn in the briefing room, BTS headed to the Oval Office to meet with the president himself on the last day in May, designated as Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Before joining the news briefing, BTS filmed content with the White House digital team and got a tour of the grounds, according to a White House official.

The group’s visit with Biden — which, somewhat inexplicably, was closed to press coverage — was the latest example of this White House leveraging the power of celebrities to bring attention to key priorities.

Last July, the administration enlisted singer Olivia Rodrigo to promote coronavirus vaccinations. And just last week, the White House brought actress and singer Selena Gomez to highlight mental health, with Gomez appearing in a three-minute video with Biden, first lady Jill Biden and Vivek H. Murthy, the surgeon general, to discuss the issue.

But at some points Tuesday, the anti-discrimination message the administration wanted to convey was a bit overshadowed by the sheer hysteria inside the briefing room — and outside the White House gates.

Outside, hundreds of fans — mostly young girls — gathered in hopes of snagging a distanced glance at the K-pop group, and as they waited in the scorching sun, they chanted the names of the seven members and screamed, “BTS! BTS!”

Inside, scores of interested journalists, many of them of Korean descent, packed the aisles at least a half-hour before the briefing was supposed to begin — making the already cramped room even more stifling. Veteran journalists quipped that the briefing room hadn’t been that crowded since the days of Sean Spicer as press secretary, when the sessions became must-see TV for all the wrong reasons, at least for the Donald Trump administration.

Tuesday’s live stream of the White House briefing usually attracts a few hundred interested viewers. But well ahead of the start of the 2:30 p.m. session, about 11,000 had settled in for the show. Ten minutes before the briefing, about 71,000 were online. A couple minutes after the official start of the briefing — which started a few minutes behind schedule — a whopping 197,000 were watching.

More than 300,000 were still on the live stream as Deese, the White House’s director of the National Economic Council, stepped up to the lectern and began to speak. (The viewership numbers declined precipitously the longer Deese talked about inflation.)

“Okay, so I get to go home and tell my kids that BTS opened for me,” Deese said, as reporters laughed. “I did not expect that when I woke up this morning. And I know that you’re all here to talk about trimmed mean inflation, and you’re as excited about that as you are for them.”

AEW Dynamite Results (3/9) – TNT Title On The Line, More

Welcome to our WrestlingINC.com live AEW Dynamite viewing party. Tonight’s special show will air live from the Hertz Arena in Estero, Florida. Our live coverage starts at 8pm ET. Please share coverage of tonight’s Viewing Party on social media and chime in with your thoughts in the comments section below.

– We are kicking things off tonight with the Demo God, Chris Jericho, who heads to the ring with usual great reception. He says that last Sunday was one of the best nights of his career, even though he lost. He thinks it is one of the best matches of his career, and arguably the best of his AEW run. He thanks Eddie Kingston, claiming he brought out a side of him he thought was gone.

Jericho says he didn’t live up to his word after the match, and his word is everything. Chris says he was frustrated as the fans chant, ‘shake his hand.’ Chris says Eddie deserves his respect, and he has got it. So he calls out Kingston so he can shake his hand. He makes his way down, and tells people they’re going to get real deep.

Kingston says the Friday night before the biggest match of his career, he didn’t want to show up. He wanted to go out drinking as Jericho got in his head. A fan tries to, ‘what,’ chant him, but he tells them to show some respect as Steve Austin isn’t here. Eddie says four people told him that they didn’t commit suicide because of him, and that’s why he showed up.

After the match, he went to his hotel room and cried, because he wanted to make those people from the fan fest proud. Eddie gets emotional and says he hopes he did that. Kingston tells Jericho the handshake wasn’t for him, the handshake was for Jericho. It sounds like a Chris Jericho problem.

Eddie says he dragged out the man who he looked up to in Japan, that was him showing respect. He says Jericho proved he’s still the man, and still number one. But Kingston questions if that’s enough to fill the hole where he doesn’t want to show respect to young guys. Jericho says everything Eddie just said was right.

Jericho tells Eddie he has his undying respect. He thanks him for giving him respect, and he offers to shake his hand. The two men then do that, and then 2point0 and Daniel Garcia make their way out and start jumping the two guys. However, Santana and Ortiz then hit the ring and clear house. They keep hold of Garcia, but Jericho then cracks Ortiz and Santana with the bat!

Jericho is working alongside 2point0 and Garcia. Jake Hager then comes down and screams at Jericho. He questions what he is doing, but then the big man blasts his Santana and Ortiz as well, sticking with Chris. Jericho smashes Kingston over the head with the baseball bat, and then Hager powerbomb him from the ring apron through a table on the floor.

Jericho then gets on the microphone and he tells us that this is the Jericho Appreciation Society…and that’s entertainment.

– CM Punk is then shown being interviewed after the dog collar match, as footage from the encounter is displayed. He says he’ll be digging dried blood for weeks. But that CM Punk is dead…long live CM Punk.

AEW World Championship Match

Hangman Page (c) vs. Dante Martin

The two men shake hands to start things, and then Hangman Page uses his strength to drop his challenger with a few shoulder tackles. But Dante Martin picks up the pace and rocks the champion with a dropkick and then a few chops. Hangman responds by springboarding and hitting a lariat, sending Martin outside.

He then launches himself over the top rope to take Dante down once more. The champion then unloads some chops of his own inside the ring, and while Martin hits a few himself, Page then explodes with a lariat in the corner, which he follows up with a huge clothesline, dropping Dante to the mat.

Dante then tries to leap over the champion, but he catches him and hits the Death Valley Driver, but Martin kicks out. The young wrestler continues to fight back though, sending Hangman out of the ring, as he follows up with a moonsault from the top turnbuckle to the outside. Martin then looks for a dropkick from the top turnbuckle, but Page catches him in mid-air to turn it into a powerbomb, but the challenger kicks out again.

Martin then sends the champion out of the ring once again. He looks to springboard to the outside, but Page pushes him back into the ring. Immediately, Hangman launches himself in with the Buckshot Lariat to defend the title.

Winner (and still champion): Hangman Page

– After the match, Tony Schiavone hits the ring to interview the champion. However, Page tells Dante to get his ass back in the ring. He tells him that Martin was put in a tough spot last year when his brother was injured. He pushed himself all the way to the World Title, and Page says while he will be going for the tag titles, if he makes it back here, he’d love to do it again.

Adam Cole then appears, telling him to shut his mouth. At Revolution, he proved Page wasn’t untouchable. Cole congratulates Page for a fluke victory, he says anybody can get lucky once, and the next time that won’t happen. Cole challenges Page to a six-man match next week, and he has two specific young men in mind, who know Page very well.

Cole says he will make Hangman’s life living hell, and he will not stop until he gets what he wants, and what he deserves. He won’t stop until he hears, ‘and new AEW World Champion.’

Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley w/William Regal vs. The Workhorseman

Immediately Jon Moxley takes the fight to JD Drake, attacking him in the corner and launching him across the mat. Bryan Danielson then tags in and unloads a series of strikes, dropping down the bigger man. However, he is able to power Bryan into his corner and Anthony Henry tags in and unloads several kicks of his own.

However, it doesn’t last long until Bryan turns things around with kicks of his own, and Moxley then stomps a mudhole into him in the corner. Bryan comes back in with chops and kicks, locking in the surfboard submission, as Jon tags in and then bites his face before chopping him down.

Jon throws him up in the air, turning Henry inside out, but that only gets a one count. Henry rights back in the corner and comes in with a missile dropkick. Drake tags in and starts throwing slaps to Moxley, but he gets dropped with a lariat. Moxley then brings in Bryan, launching himself out with a tope suicida. Meanwhile, inside the ring, Bryan hits the running knees and then the Label Lock for the win.

Winners: Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley

– After the match, William Regal tells Tony Schiavone he didn’t think they’d be doing this again, 29 years after they first work together. Regal says he has made his own life hard, both in the ring and in his life. He knows he’s not long for this life due to too many empty bottles, and broken hearts.

Regal then gets emotional, and he thanks Tony for helping him in the past. William then snaps out of it and says he is no longer required from his old job, and he checked out of his old job. But then someone told him Bryan Danielson mentioned him on AEW Dynamite. It got him interested, he went to watch and he found out that he’d be fighting Jon Moxley.

Regal says the reason people know him now, is because of Bryan, as his name was always mentioned alongside of him. Regal says if someone wants to work hard, he will make them a better wrestler. The first thing he will do, is sit them down and tell them not what to do. Regal says Bryan is what he should have been, as he’s a perfect wrestler.

Regal says there was a time when they’d train with a group of wrestlers, but he and Bryan would stay and keep working. Regal sent him places and Bryan became the wrestler he should have been, because he doesn’t have the problems Regal did. William said he had seen enough on Sunday, as what better could this younger generation have than these two men.

Regal says that is why the team is together. He warns anyone who steps in the ring with them, they will not like the outcome. You’ll step up, or get stepped on.

– Backstage Hangman Page apologizes to The Dark Order for pushing them on Sunday. They say it’s fine. They ask who will be his partner next week, but Hangman says he has already agreed to team with Jurrasic Express.

Wheeler Yuta vs. PAC

PAC immediately takes control of Wheeler Yuta’s arm, but he smartly gets out of it and hits a dropkick. PAC decides to dump his opponent out of the ring and he stares down the rest of the guys outside the ring as Penta then turns up. The Englishman then launches Yuta head-first into the barricade before hitting a brainbuster on the outside.

Back inside the squared circle, Yuta launches PAC across the ring and then hits a boot in the corner.  He dives from the top turnbuckle, and almost gets the win with a crossbody. PAC responds with a German suplex, but Yuta is then the one kicking out of a pinfall attempt. He follows that up with an Avalance Brainbuster and then locks in the Brutalizer to gain the victory.

Winner: PAC

– The Cutler Cam is then shown as Adam Cole says he knows Sunday wasn’t the best night for any of them. However, Matt Jackson questions reDRagon as they begin arguing. Cole tells them to stop, and he says next week they’ll change things up. Cole says he has the perfect partners, who are two of his very best friends.

Matt tells him to count them out, but Cole says he wasn’t picking them anyway. He was picking Bobby and Kyle, as they walk away.

– FTR are then interviewed where Dax Harwood says wrestling was his first love. He tries to call out reDRagon. But Tully Blanchard cuts them off, and says he was brought by them to win titles, but they argue about what it’s all about. Cash Wheeler says this is about family, and Blanchard is not that, and they fire him.

– The AHFO are all in the ring, with Matt Hardy saying he wanted to make things right, but Andrade wants to fire him. Andrade asks where Matt’s suit is. Matt says when he puts on the suit, he transforms into an a—–e, and Andrade knows what that is all about, and Jose certainly does.

He wants to make this right. Andrade says he wants to take a vote, but Matt says Private Party will never vote him out. They start doing the vore…but Private Party end up turning against him, giving a thumbs down behind his back. Andrade says you always need to watch your back, and Matt turns around to see they have turned on him.

The entire group then beats the hell out of Matt, with all of the members getting their shots in. Andrade then hits a big running boot. However, Darby Allin and Sting then make their way out. They hit the ring and start brawling with everyone inside the ring as well.

But JEFF HARDY IS HERE! Jeff comes out to a huge reaction and he helps them clean house, with the segment ending with a Swanton Bomb. Matt and Jeff share a big hug together, as the Hardy Boyz are back together!

– Swerve Strickland is then shown backstage as Tony Nese interrupts. He says since they have a history of wrestling on Friday nights, he thinks they should do that again. Strickland agrees, saying he will beat that ass.

– Tony Schiavone is back again, this time welcoming Wardlow to the ring. Wardlow says you always come to a moment whether you want to help someone else accomplish their dreams, or take the chance to fulfill your own. Wardlow says before Max, he did a lot for someone and got nothing in return.

Little did he know he was walking out of one cage into another with Max. He knew Max wasn’t a good person, and he asks for forgiveness for associating with such trash. But he grew up very poor, and he had to watch his mother struggle. Max changed his life, and for that he thanks him. But it does not give you the right to disrespect someone like he did.

Wardlow says he is still under contract with Max, but he no longer gives a damn. He is no longer watching his back, he is not his bodyguard, and he is not a member of The Pinnacle. He is finally free. Wardlow tells Max to be smart, and if he lets him go from his contract, he will leave him alone. Wardlow only cares about becoming TNT Champion, and obtaining a new contract. He will not stop at the TNT Title, so he’s letting everyone know, AEW is Wardlow’s world.

– QT Marshall is shown backstage with Keith Lee. He thinks they have a common enemy with Team Taz. QT says he has stroke in AEW, so he wants to let him know, they have his back. Keith says he happens to have a large back, and he’s good. Marshall says Lee will pay for it.

AEW World Tag Team Championship Match

Jurassic Express w/Christian Cage vs. The Acclaimed

Jungle Boy starts things out, but The Acclaimed work together initially, only for him to take both men out. Luchasaurus comes in and just chops Max Caster down. He then unloads a massive uppercut to him as Jungle Boy returns by leaping over his partner and down onto his opponent.

The Acclaimed regain control and work well with some double teams as Caster then drops Jungle Boy with a shoulder tackle. Anthony Bowens charges in with a splash in the corner and then attacks Luchasuarus to stop a possible tag. He keeps Jungle Boy isolated, but the champions respond with a great forearm strike.

Caster tries to stop a tag but it doesn’t work and Luchasaurus takes out both men, charging back and forth between the turnbuckles, following it with a double clothesline. They then spill to the outside as The Acclaimed try to use the boom box, but the big men avoids it and then Jungle Boy launches himself out of the ring to take them out.

Back inside the ring, Luchasaurus continues the attack, hitting a standing moonsault but Bowens breaks up the pinfall. Jungle Boy then connects with several forearms as he tags in, but Bowens responds with a superkick into the Mic Drop. But Luchasaurus rescues things just in time.

Luchasaurus gets taken down outside the ring though, with Caster diving out with a dropkick. Back in the ring they hit a Combination Bomb, but Jungle Boy somehow kicks out. The challengers try to use the chain, but Christian puts a stop to that. Jungle Boy then runs Bowens into a headbutt from his partner. He gets propped up on the shoulders of the big man and Jungle Boy launches himself off the top rope to turn him inside out in mid-air.

Winners (and still champions): Jurassic Express

– Jade Cargill and Mark Sterling are shown backstage, saying that she wants to know who is next. Jade asks who wants to receive the kiss of death next.

#1 Contender’s Match

Leyla Hirsch vs. Thunder Rosa

The two women start things out technically, but Thunder Rosa picks up the pace with some arm drags and then a dropkick. The challenger is able to turn things around though, with her power proving to be too much. She slams down Thunder to the mat, but she is able to kick out.

Leyla then uses the turnbuckles to her advantage, hanging up Rosa with an arm submission. She then follows up with a big dropkick, adding further pressure to Rosa. She turns things around thought, suckering in Leyla to the second rope, as Rosa follows up with a dropkick to the back, with Leyla bouncing off the ropes.

Thunder charges into the corner with a clothesline, but as she leaps around the turnbuckle, Leyla catches her and hits a German suplex. Rosa kicks out, but Leyla then just lays in some punches. Hirsch takes long heading to the top rope, ut Rosa meets her there and gets the best of the situation.

Rosa then hits a fireman’s carry and a running clothesline, but Leyla kicks out again.  She then goes to use the turnbuckle rod again when the referee isn’t looking, but Red Velvet appears and stops her. However, back in the ring, Leyla secures an arm submission, as Rose gets to the ropes. Leyla misses a running knee strike and then hits the Thunder Driver to win.

Winner: Thunder Rosa

– Tony Schiavone is then on the microphone. He says next week, Thunder gets a title shot, and that will be…inside a steel cage match.

– Britt Baker then appears backstage. She says it’s more conspiracy stuff going on. Thunder should be at the back of the line, but Britt is not afraid of it. She’s afraid of what happens if carny riffraff like Rosa gets the title.

TNT Championship Match

Sammy Guevara (c) vs. Scorpio Sky

The two men waster no time going back and forth with an attack here, as Sammy Guevara’s pace takes down Scorpio Sky at the legs. The fight spills to the outside, and Sky gets a few shots in, but the champion then drives him into the barricade repeatedly. The Spanish God then breaks out a table, as Sky gets launches into the stairs.

Sammy then sets up Scorpio on the table outside the ring, and as he launches himself to the outside, Sky moves and the champion lands hard. Tay Conti then comes down to check on him as the doctor looks at him as well. The champion then gets carried to the back with the doctor and Tay, but he argues with them on the apron and he makes his way back in.

Sammy spits at Sky and then they start brawling as Sky then dumps him outside the ring again. Tay then ends up arguing with Paige VanZant at ringside, while back in the ring, Sky hits a backbreaker. He continues focusing on the back, but Guevara continues to kick out. Sammy tries to throw a few punches, and then he almost steals it with a roll-up.

Guevara connects with a back heel kick, and he then connects with the Springboard Cutter, but Sky kicks out! Guevara then hits the GTH, but Sky rolls under the ropes. He goes for the Shooting Star Press, but Sky gets the knees up. Dan Lambert then gets on the apron as Ethan Page tries to interfere, but Conti stops him.

However, Paige Van Zant then appears and attacks her. She launches Conti into the stairs, which distracts Guevara. Sky then hits the TKO to become the new champion!

Winner (and new TNT Champion): Scorpio Sky

After the match, Scorpio Sky attacks Guevara with the belt while Van Zant attacks Conti, dumping her on top of her boyfriend. She then signs her official AEW contract on Conti’s body to close the show.

AEW Dynamite Results -Interim TNT Title Match, CM Punk In Action

Welcome to our WrestlingINC.com live AEW Dynamite viewing party. Tonight’s special show will air live from the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. Our live coverage starts at 8pm ET. Please share coverage of tonight’s Viewing Party on social media and chime in with your thoughts in the comments section below.

– We are kicking off tonight’s show with Adam Cole, bay bay. He is flanked by Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish. He says 2021 was a great year for the three of them, but 2022 will be better. Cole reminds everyone that he hasn’t been pinned or made to submit in AEW. He also says the boys are back together and they are the baddest team on God’s green.

Cole says it is a new era here in AEW. However, he is interrupted by The Young Bucks. Matt says he kicked COVID’s ass in two days and says he would come and join them and he thanks them for the invite. Kyle O’Reilly says nobody invited them before either, and they didn’t need help beating the ‘Super Friends.’

Matt tells them that this is their company, and they are the longest-reigning Tag Team Champions in history. Kyle says that is funny as they have the same resolution. Bobby Fish claims there isn’t a single team that will stop them from getting the titles and that includes The Bucks.

Adam Cole says this is what we need, friendly competition. He says that is what makes them the greatest faction in AEW history. Best Friends then make their way down to the ring. Orange Cassidy doesn’t have anything to say, instead, he jumps Cole and all the members begin brawling. However, a low blow from Cole takes advantage for his team.

Cole looks for the Superkick, but Kris Statlander gets in the way…that is until Britt Baker appears and she takes out Statlander with a Curb Stomp, while she sets up Cassidy for the Boom by Adam Cole. He poses for the Young Bucks kick spot, but Baker stops them and she kisses her boyfriend instead.

Wardlow w/MJF vs. CM Punk

CM Punk immediately slides out of the ring and looks to face off with MJF, but Wardlow also slides out and stands in the middle. Inside of the ring, Wardlow’s power and strength is too much early on as he throws Punk into the corner before dropping him with a shoulder tackle. However, Punk responds with a few strikes in the corner, only for a clubbing blow from Wardlow to drop him.

The bigger man continues his dominance, working the shoulder. However, he takes too long and Punk attacks the knee, but Wardlow’s power is too much again as he launches Punk into the corner as he spills to the floor. Punk continues to fight back with an attempted tornado DDT, but Wardlow shrugs him off mid-move.

Wardlow looks for the powerbomb, but Punk escapes and catches him with a kick to the head. He follows up with several more shots and he charges with several clotheslines but Punk can’t take the bigger man down. He eventually hits the springboard clothesline and that does the trick!

Punk then goes for his classic knee to the head in the corner. He connects but MJF then gets his head, and with Punk distracted, Wardlow hits a powerbomb. He then follows that up with a second one and a third, and a fourth, and a fifth! Wardlow looks for the pin, but MJF gets on the apron and demands he does more damage.

Wardlow gets him up again and nails a sixth powerbomb. However, MJF demands more. He goes along with the order and nails a seventh. He rolls out of the ring and Wardlow goes around, but MJF clears the timekeeper’s table and demands he puts Punk through it. Wardlow is visibly not happy about it, but he powerbombs Punk through the table.

Despite the beatdown, Punk somehow manages to get in the ring before the 10 count. MJF then demands another powerbomb happens. Wardlow slowly goes for another, but Punk gets the inside cradle and he defeats Wardlow!

Winner: CM Punk

– After the match, MJF goes crazy with Wardlow, but he grabs his hand and seems to be losing his cool until Shwan Spears hits the ring. He comes between them and calms things down as they all head to the back.

Powerhouse Hobbs w/Ricky Starks vs. Dante Martin

Dante Martin sprints to the ring and the two men start brawling outside of the ring. Hobbs sends his opponent into the ring but Martin connects with several kicks before he launches himself at Hobbs, sending them both out of the ring. However, as Dante tries to come off the ring apron, Hobbs catches him and nails a spine buster on the outside.

Hobbs then plans Martin to the mat several times, and while the smaller man tries to fight back, he is instantly set back to the mat with a clothesline. Hobbs then locks in a torture rack submission, but Martin breaks out only to be leveled with a clothesline.
