Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson says potential presidential run is ‘off the table’

It looks like The Rock is staying clear of the Oval Office.

Dwayne Johnson revealed the fate of his much-talked-about presidential bid, revealing he’s ultimately decided against it.

“It’s off the table,” Johnson told CBS Sunday Morning’s Tracey Smith. “Yes, it is off the table.

The star wrestler-turned-Hollywood juggernaut said he’s shifting all of his focus to his role as a father.

“I will say this because it requires a B-side to this. I love our country and everyone in it,” Johnson added. “I also love being a daddy.”

“And that’s the most important thing to me is being a daddy, No. 1, especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives.”

The star is a proud dad to three. He shares his 21-year-old daughter Simone Garcia Johnson with his ex-wife, Dany Garcia. The Rock shares six-year-old Jasmine and four-year-old Tiana with his current wife, Lauren Hashian.

“I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years in my first daughter’s,” Johnson said. “Growing up in this critical age at this critical time in their life, and that’s what the presidency will do. So my number one priority is my daughters.

“Sure, CEO sounds great. But the number one thing I wanna be is daddy. That’s it.”

Last year, Johnson teased he would launch a presidential campaign if it was “what the people want.”

“I do have that goal, to unite our country,” Johnson said in an episode of NBC’s “Sunday Today with Willie Geist” in April 2021. “I also feel that if this is what the people want, then I will do that.”

Johnson had teased the idea of a political career since at least 2017. In February 2021 he floated a possible run in an interview with USA Today, saying that he would “consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted.”

A survey of more than 30,000 Americans released last year found nearly half of respondents wanted to see Johnson run for president.

Johnson responded to the Piplsay poll with a tweet, writing, “Not sure our Founding Fathers ever envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack-wearing guy joining their club — but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve the people.”

“I am passionate about making sure that our country is united,” he went on. “A united country, as we know, is its strongest, and I want to see that for our country.”

Referred to by some as the “Japanese Suicide Forest”, Paul and his crew went to film there, in the forest at the base of Mt. Fuji, and ended up finding a deceased man’s body.

“This was one of the saddest moments of my life, what I’m about to say.” Paul said on the podcast. “After Japan happened, I obviously found myself in a hole, rightfully so, that I had never been in before. Extremely low, mentally, and I got a call from my publicist, who also repped Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.”

He connoted, “She’s like ‘Hey, Dwayne has asked that you remove every video and picture that you’ve done with him. Maybe in the future the relationship can be reconciled, but for now, he basically wants nothing to do with you.’ Which I also understood. I get it. I made a grotesque error.”

Prior to publishing the Aokigahara, Johnson had appeared in a number of viral videos together with Paul.

Logan added of Johnson, “I feel like we had a healthy relationship, an open line of communication. I was so sad that my hero wanted nothing to do with me,” and said, “I was sad because I understood it. I really f**ked up.”

He also revealed that The Rock did actually reach out to him later by direct message on Instagram, but he didn’t respond.

In the wake of the controversy, Paul apologized for the video and deleted it from his page.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson addresses Joe Rogan’s N-word use

Just days after publicly supporting Joe Rogan, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson acknowledged the controversial podcaster’s repeated use of the N-word, calling the revelation a “learning moment.”

The popular actor was responding to a follower who said his recent backing of Rogan was a “terrible abuse of your power” in light of the N-word scandal.

“I was not aware of his N word use prior to my comments, but now I’ve become educated to his complete narrative,” Johnson, 49, wrote on Twitter Friday. “Learning moment for me.”

Rogan dropped the N-word almost two dozen times while hosting his wildly popular podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” according to newly unearthed clips.

Rogan called the viral compilation “the most regretful and shameful thing I’ve ever had to talk about publicly” on Friday, saying the video was a collage of “out of context” snippets from “12 years of conversations.”

“It looks f–king horrible. Even to me,” he said.

Johnson got flak over Rogan’s repeated use of the slur after he stuck by the podcaster amid a separate controversy about COVID-19 misinformation. The former WWE wrestler-turned-actor, however, has not outright denounced Rogan over the latest debacle.

Rogan has been accused of spreading coronavirus misinformation on his Spotify show, often platforming vaccine skeptics and conspiracy theorists. The controversy has prompted several artists, including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, to demand that their music be removed from the streaming service.

On Monday, Rogan pledged to “do better” in his discussions of COVID-19 and got the The Rock’s stamp of approval.

“Great stuff here brother. Perfectly articulated,” Johnson wrote to Rogan, 54. “Look forward to coming on one day and breaking out the tequila with you.”

Last week, Rogan insisted he wasn’t trying to push misinformation on his show.

“I’m not trying to promote misinformation. I’m not trying to be controversial,” Rogan stated in his Monday Instagram video. “I’ve never tried to do anything with this podcast other than just talk to people and have interesting conversations.”

Clips of Rogan using the racial slur recently went viral.

The viral clip of Rogan using the N-word has only increased pressure on Spotify to reign in Rogan.

Spotify quietly pulled 113 episodes of Rogan’s podcast on Saturday, according to podcast tracking website JREMissing.

Still, the streaming mammoth has stuck by Rogan, and CEO Daniel Ek said the service is “not in the business of dictating the discourse” of its creators.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson gives his custom truck to deserving fan from Culver City

CULVER CITY, Calif. (KABC) — Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently created an unforgettable moment for one special, and deserving, fan.

Johnson gifted his own custom-made truck to a Navy veteran from Culver City who is active in community causes and cares for his 75-year-old mother.

Johnson presented the truck to Oscar Rodriguez, who collapsed in grateful tears as he received the gift.

Johnson chose Rodriguez as part of a special screening for his new film “Red Notice” in a theater. Someone from a gym where Rodriguez used to work as a trainer nominated him, and film producers invited him to the screening. At the show, Johnson surprised Rodriguez.

Johnson later explained on Instagram why he chose Rodriguez:

“I gathered as much information as I could about everyone in the audience and ultimately, Oscar’s story moved me.
Takes care of his 75 year old mom.
Personal trainer.
Leader at his church.
Provides support and meals for women victimized by domestic violence.
Proud & humble Navy veteran.
Kind human being.”

The Rock says the original plan was to gift Rodriguez the Porsche Taycan he drives in the movie – but Porsche said no.

So instead he gave away his own personal Ford Raptor truck.

Rodriguez told Eyewitness News he is a fan of Johnson, particularly for his positivity and how he inspires others. He hopes to use the truck to pay it forward.

“I just hope and pray that this will inspire other people, will lift other people up,” he said.

Rodriguez also posted his reaction on social media.

“I woke up today, counted my blessings,” he said. “It’s Thanksgiving. There’s just so much to be thankful for.”

“Just grateful that The Rock hooked me up with this whip. I’m gonna use it, baby. I’m gonna use it to encourage people and help people. And bring a lot of cheer to people. Rock, you the man.”
