Good luck figuring out how to download Warzone 2.0

UPDATE 16/11/22: An additional update for Call of Duty was released this morning, and weighs in at around 70GB for Xbox Series X/S and 20GB for PlayStation 5.

PlayStation 5 users will also have to re-download the Warzone, multiplayer and Spec Ops content packs (if they were previously installed), adding an additional 10GB to the total download size.

It’s unclear why PlayStation users must re-download these packs, but this was a regular occurrence with Modern Warfare (2019) and Warzone updates.

If you have slow internet speeds, I strongly recommend you leave time to download the updates before Warzone 2.0’s launch time tonight, which kicks off at 6pm here in the UK.

Of course, this isn’t much comfort for those with data caps and as the energy crisis has skyrocketed the price of electricity.

ORIGINAL STORY 15/11/22:
Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is now available to preload ahead of the game’s release tomorrow – but doing so is anything but straightforward.

PlayStation 4 and 5 owners searching for Warzone 2.0 last night were unable to find the download by searching “Call of Duty Warzone” in the PlayStation Store, while Steam users who own Modern Warfare 2 found no download whatsoever.

Things are a little better on Xbox where Warzone 2.0 is discoverable with its own store page. Still, on closer inspection, the download confusingly also appears to bundle Modern Warfare 2 for free.

Eurogamer Newscast: Should you peek at Pokémon Scarlet and Violet leaks?

So, what’s going on here? Well, for the second time now, Activision has integrated Warzone 2.0 into the Modern Warfare 2 launcher, just as it did with Warzone and Modern Warfare (2019).

PlayStation 5 users can find Warzone 2.0 by heading to the Modern Warfare 2 store page and clicking on the context menu to see different editions of the game. There, you’ll find the option for Warzone 2.0.

The download size is dependent on whether you already have Modern Warfare 2 installed, as those with the game will have a much smaller 2.51GB, while those downloading from scratch will have a larger 45GB download.

As for Steam, Activision has confirmed that anyone with Modern Warfare 2 installed will have Warzone 2.0 already preloaded, while those who don’t have it installed can go ahead and download Warzone 2.0 on its own.

While this is a little more straightforward, the way this works has proved controversial with the hardcore Call of Duty community. News of the integration led to this post surging to the top of the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit:

To see this content please enable targeting cookies.

The core issue for fans here is that Warzone is the evergreen live-service Call of Duty game with a larger player base, which is often judged as overshadowing Activision’s premium offering. Activision’s launcher caters first and foremost to Warzone, players say, while the premium Modern Warfare comes second. This has led to the core community embracing the so-called “clean menu” before Warzone is integrated.

To see this content please enable targeting cookies.

I raised this issue a few months ago, as plans to shut down the original Warzone led to fears Modern Warfare would also be shut down. Fortunately, it appears the Modern Warfare (2019) interface has been reverted back to its pre-Warzone form (albeit with a big advert for Modern Warfare 2).

The Modern Warfare interface following the patching out of Warzone.

Still, for fans, this integration creates a wider feeling that Activision’s development resources are being pulled away from Modern Warfare 2 towards Warzone 2.0. The community has pointed out that only two maps have been announced for the game’s first season, both of which are recycled from previous games. The game’s first major patch also coincides with Warzone 2.0’s launch, raising questions on whether Modern Warfare 2’s development is determined by the development cycle of the battle royale mode.

The Switch Online service has been chugging along at a steady pace over the past few months. Nintendo has added more ‘Missions’ and ‘Rewards, it’s updated the service’s mobile app, and in July it added two SNES titles, one NES game, and four Sega Genesis / Mega Drive games to the existing retro libraries. Pokémon Puzzle League joined the N64 service, too.

Download iOS 16 Beta on Your iPhone: What to Know Before You Install

The iOS 16 public beta is here, and now anyone with a compatible iPhone can now download it and try it out on their iPhone. It’s fairly simple to install it, and it’s free, too. If you’re excited to try out any of iOS 16’s new features (like Lockdown Mode or customizable lock screens), your wait is over.

In June, Apple released the iOS 16 developer beta around its developer conference, but not many people were eligible to download and install the software. Developer betas require an Apple Developer Program membership, which is $100 a year, and they’re also not recommended for everyday use, unless you’re a developer testing out software, because developer betas can be super buggy, and make your phone more difficult to use.

Apple has now released the public beta for iOS 16, which should be a little more stable. All you need to do is sign up for the Apple Beta Software program, enroll your device and install a config profile to get iOS 16 beta on your device. Here’s how.

For more, here’s a look at the redesigned and customizable lock screen on iOS 16, and a couple of the new Apple Maps features.

Before you start, back up your iPhone

Getting your hands on prereleased software can be exciting, but there are precautions you should take before updating. All prereleased software like iOS 16 beta may contain bugs and other issues that can make your device more difficult to use, which is why you should back up your device in case you want to revert back to iOS 15.

By default, your iPhone should back itself up every time it’s connected to power and Wi-Fi during your regular sleep hours. However, if this backup feature is disabled, you can go to Settings > Your Name > iCloud > iCloud Backup and then hit Back Up Now to back up your device.

You can (and should) also back up your iPhone on your Mac.

Screenshot by Nelson Aguilar/CNET

Additionally, you can back up your iPhone via Finder on your Mac. Simply connect your device to your computer, open Finder, choose your device and then create a backup. Apple also recommends archiving your backup, so that it’s not overwritten by other backups.

Sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program

Once your device is backed up, it’s time to sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program, which allows anyone to try out prereleased software for free, to provide feedback to Apple on quality, usability and issues. Currently, you can test out iOS 16 beta on any compatible Apple device (iPhone 8 and later).

To enroll in the Apple Beta Software Program:

1. Go to the Apple Beta Software Program website on your iPhone.

2. Tap the blue Sign Up button at the bottom of the page.

3. Use Face ID or Touch ID to log in to the Apple ID that is attached to your iPhone.

4. Read and accept the Apple Beta Software Program Agreement.

On the page that appears next, scroll down to Get Started and tap enroll your iOS device, which should be hyperlinked in the paragraph that appears. That will take you to another page, where Apple will lay out everything you need to do to download and install iOS 16 beta on your iPhone.

Signing up for the Apple Beta Software Program is free.

Install the iOS 16 beta configuration profile

If you scroll down this page, you’ll see a section called Install Profile. To download and install the iOS 16 beta on your device, you must now install a configuration profile on your iPhone.

Essentially, a config profile allows a third party to manage your device; in this case, Apple. You may have concerns whether or not this is a privacy breach, but rest assured that this config profile simply allows Apple to deliver and manage the iOS 16 beta on your device.

To install the config profile, hit the blue Download profile button and then tap Allow in the pop-up that appears. Next, exit your web browser, launch the Settings app and tap Profile Download at the top of the page. It should then show you a window for the iOS 16 public beta config profile. Tap Install, enter your passcode and then hit Install two more times. Finally, tap Restart to get the over-the-air iOS 16 beta update.

You must first download a config profile from Apple’s website before you can update to iOS 16 beta.

Screenshot by Nelson Aguilar/CNET

Download and install iOS 16 beta

Once your iPhone boots back up, go to Settings > General > Software Update, hit Download and Install and enter your passcode to begin the process of updating to iOS 16 beta.

Once the config profile is downloaded and your phone reboots, you can download and install the iOS 16 public beta.

Screenshot by Nelson Aguilar/CNET

If for some reason you don’t see the Download and Install option, you may need to either wait a few minutes or clear your memory to make space. If you don’t have enough space, you won’t be able to download iOS 16, so clear your memory by deleting large files and offloading hefty apps.

You should see a loading bar, along with a rough estimate of how long the download process will take. Once the download is complete, reboot your device and wait for iOS 16 beta to install. When your iPhone boots up, you should see iOS 16 beta downloaded on your device.

Skyrim Together Reborn mod: How to play, download, install, and make a server

The highly anticipated remake of the Skyrim Together multiplayer mod is finally here, dubbed “Skyrim Together Reborn” with code rewritten from the ground up. With this mod, you and several of your friends — the mod authors recommend 2-8 players — can adventure through the Nordic lands of Skyrim together. Whether you want to work together to take down the great dragon Alduin, join factions and complete quests together, or simply explore Skyrim’s various regions and holds as a team, it’s possible with this revolutionary mod.

If you’re concerned about the mod being complicated to use, don’t be. Installing and playing Skyrim Together Reborn is easier and simpler than ever before, and in this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know. This includes the mod’s requirements and how to install them, how to download and install the mod itself, how to create a server, and how to play once everything is up and running.

Skyrim Together Reborn: Requirements and what you’ll need

Before you can download, install, and play Skyrim Together, there are a few things you’ll need for the mod to work properly (as well as for the installation to be as easy as possible). Firstly, you need to make sure that you’re using the latest version of Skyrim Special Edition or Skyrim Anniversary Edition on Steam, as these are the only versions of Skyrim that the mod works with. You can check whether your currently installed version of Skyrim Special Edition is compatible by following these steps (all Anniversary Edition versions will work):

  1. Navigate to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition in your Steam Library
  2. Right-click the game’s title.
  3. In the menu that opens, select Manage.
  4. Select Browse local files.
  5. In the File Explorer window that appears, right-click the SkyrimSE.exe file.
  6. In the menu that opens, select Properties.
  7. In the window that opens, select the Details tab.
  8. In the description, look for version number 1.6.x in the Product version row.

If your version number is 1.6.x, your installation of Skyrim Special Edition is compatible with Skyrim Together Reborn. If it’s a variation of 1.5.x, you’ll need to update your game. The easiest way to do this is to do the following:

  1. Navigate to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition in your Steam Library.
  2. Right-click the game’s title.
  3. In the menu that opens, select Properties…
  4. In the Steam window that opens, select the Updates tab.
  5. Ensure that the “Always keep this game updated” option is checked.
  6. Select the Local Files tab.
  7. Select Verify integrity of game files…
  8. Let the verification process complete, then select OK when Steam says it will download missing files.

Our mod manager of choice is Vortex, as its UI is incredibly simple and easy to use. (Image credit: Windows Central)

Next up, you’ll need an account on the Nexus Mods website, which is where most Skyrim mods — including Skyrim Together Reborn — are hosted. Note that you can’t download mods from the site without making one, so don’t skip this step.

While you don’t technically need one, we also strongly recommend downloading and installing a mod manager. Compared to the process of installing mods manually by decompressing the files with a program like 7-Zip and then dragging and dropping them into your Skyrim game folder, using a mod manager makes the process incredibly easy and user-friendly. Our mod manager of choice is Vortex, as it has a clean and simple interface that’s easy to learn, and also offers several advanced functions you can use if you decide to mod Skyrim more heavily in the future.

Finally, there’s one mod you need to install that Skyrim Together Reborn requires: Address Library for SKSE Plugins (note that you don’t need the SKSE mod for Address Library and Skyrim Together). Here’s how to download and install it:

  1. Open Vortex.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab of the Address Library for SKSE Plugins mod page.
  3. Select the Mod Manager Download button under the “All in One (Anniversary Edition)” listing.
  4. In Vortex, select Install.
  5. When prompted, select Enable.

How to download and install Skyrim Together Reborn

Downloading and installing Skyrim Together Reborn works just like installing Address Library for SKSE Plugins did, although there are some extra steps you’ll need to follow. Here’s what to do:

  1. Open Vortex.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab of the Skyrim Together Reborn mod page.
  3. Select the Mod Manager Download button under the “Skyrim Together Reborn” listing.
  4. In Vortex, select Install.
  5. When prompted, select Enable.

The mod is now installed, though for it to work properly, you can’t launch Skyrim through Steam like you normally would. Instead, you’ll need to use the executable included in the mod. Here’s how to access it:

  1. Navigate to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition in your Steam Library.
  2. Right-click the game’s title.
  3. In the menu that opens, select Manage.
  4. Select Browse local files.
  5. In the File Explorer window that appears, open the Data folder.
  6. Open the SkyrimTogetherReborn folder.
  7. Select the SkyrimTogether.exe file.
  8. In the window that opens, select your SkyrimSE.exe file from your Skyrim installation folder (this allows SkyrimTogether.exe to hook into the regular Skyrim executable).
  9. Select the SkyrimTogether.exe file again to launch Skyrim with the mod.

From here on out, you’ll need to use the SkyrimTogether.exe file whenever you want to play Skyrim Together. We recommend making a shortcut by right-clicking the executable, selecting “Show more options,” and then selecting “Create shortcut” from the list of options. You can then drag this shortcut to your desktop, allowing you to launch Skyrim Together from it.

How to make a Skyrim Together Reborn server

Using playtogether.gg is the best way to get a working server up and running in seconds. (Image credit: Windows Central)

Once you and your friends have the mod installed, one of you will need to create a server for everyone to play on. Skyrim Together originally required you to host a server by using your PC and port forwarding, but now, a special third-party service called PlayTogether has been developed that allows you to set up a free Skyrim Together Reborn server without hassle.

To use it, go to the PlayTogether homepage and select the options you’d like for your server. These include the server’s region, password, and difficulty settings, as well as a toggle for PvP and an option that causes players to lose a percentage of their carried gold on death. Then, select the Launch Instance button. Afterwards, your server’s IP address and password will be displayed, which you can then use to connect to the server while playing Skyrim Together Reborn (the below section goes over how to do that). Note that the server will automatically close after 10 minutes if nobody is connected to it and actively playing.

Depending on how many players are trying to set up a server at the same time you are, your server request may be placed into a queue. If you’d like to avoid this queue and get server priority, you can do so by subscribing to the $5 “Thane” tier on the PlayTogether Patreon page. Becoming a PlayTogether Patron also unlocks access to premium servers that have a higher tickrate, as well as guaranteed access to technical support from the PlayTogether creator through Discord.

In situations where the PlayTogether service is unavailable, you can also host a server yourself. This can be done by port forwarding or by using the Hamachi virtual networking service and then running the SkyrimTogetherServer.exe file located in the SkyrimTogetherReborn folder. Check out the official Skyrim Together Reborn server guide as well as this quick port forwarding tutorial video for more details about the process of hosting a server on your own PC.

Skyrim Together Reborn: How to play and get started

With the mod installed and a server ready, you and your friends now have everything you need to experience one of the best PC games ever made together. Here’s how you can all connect to the server and begin playing:

  1. Launch Skyrim with the mod by activating the SkyrimTogether.exe file.
  2. At the main menu, create a new character and play through the Helgen intro.
  3. Once you escape from Helgen, press the right Control key.
  4. In the menu that pops up, select Connect
  5. In the window that pops up, enter your server’s full IP address and password.
  6. Select Connect.

After connecting, you and your friends should all be able to see and interact with one another in your server. However, before you start questing and exploring, you should party up so that everybody shares the same quest log. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Press the right Control key.
  2. In the menu that pops up, select Player Manager.
  3. In the window that pops up, select the Party Menu tab.
  4. Select the Launch Party button.
  5. Select the Player List tab.
  6. Select the Invite button next to the players you want to invite to your party.
  7. Have your friends accept the invite.

And with that, you and your friends are officially ready to begin your Skyrim Together Reborn adventure! We recommend reading the official Skyrim Together Playguide for the best experience, as it includes some helpful tips and information that will help you avoid issues. You and your friends should also save often, as this will help mitigate lost progress if a player (or the server) experiences a crash.

Something worth noting is that Skyrim Together Reborn also features an in-game server browser that you can access if you’d like to connect to public servers. The “Public Servers” button that lets you browse available servers is located at the bottom of the window that pops up when you select “Connect.”

Is Skyrim Together Reborn compatible with other mods?

If you’ve modded Skyrim before and are wondering whether or not Skyrim Together Reborn is compatible with other mods, the answer is that it’s complicated. All graphics mods like texture replacers, new types of grass, lighting overhauls, and ENB post-processing effects will work fine while using Skyrim Together Reborn, as these mods don’t affect gameplay systems at all.

However, mods that do affect gameplay, such as mods that alter AI behavior, add in new types of items or animations, or add, remove, or change the location of game world objects, can cause serious issues and break Skyrim Together Reborn’s functionality. Therefore, we recommend only installing graphics mods while using Skyrim Together Reborn, and ideally, you probably shouldn’t install any other mods at all just to be safe. It’s tempting to use some of the best Skyrim Special Edition PC mods in multiplayer, but it’s very risky.

There are a handful of mods and programs that are completely incompatible with Skyrim Together Reborn. These include the following:

  • Engine Fixes
  • Skyrim Souls RE
  • Fraps

If you must use gameplay mods, the safest way to do so is to ensure that everyone planning to connect to your server installs them as well. By doing this, you’ll significantly reduce the chances that these mods will cause problems.

Download WWDC 2022 inspired wallpapers for your iPhone

With just two weeks to go until WWDC 2022, Apple on Tuesday confirmed the schedule for its annual developer conference with an opening keynote on June 6. The company also shared a cool image to promote the event, and now you can use it as wallpaper on your iPhone.

Since 2020, Apple has been using Memojis to promote WWDC. Both the 2020 and 2021 event artworks had Memojis looking at the screen of a MacBook. This time, however, the WWDC 2022 featured image shows the silhouette of five different Memojis, each in different colors: red, yellow, green, blue, and purple.

Of course, these artworks don’t mean much when it comes to revealing what Apple will introduce during the event. Even so, they are mysterious enough to make users create theories about them.

Twitter user @AR72014 has created special iPhone wallpapers based on WWDC 2022 marketing images. There are two different versions of the wallpapers, one with the WWDC logo and one without. Each has one image optimized for older iPhones and another for iPhone X and later.

You can download the wallpapers by accessing this shared folder on Google Drive.

WWDC 2022 schedule

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2022 kicks off on Monday, June 6, with an opening keynote where Apple will unveil the next major updates to its operating systems – iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

Also on Monday, the company will present the Platforms State of the Union with an in-depth look at new technologies for developers, and the traditional Apple Design Awards. The event runs through June 10 with multiple sessions to help developers learn more about what’s new in Apple’s operating systems.

Although the keynote and sessions will be pre-recorded and streamed online, Apple has invited a small number of developers to a special event on June 6 at Apple Park. More details about WWDC 2022 can be found on Apple’s website.

Download Apple iOS 15.4.1 to Fix Security Issue, Battery Drain Bug

Apple released iOS 15.4.1 Thursday.

James Martin/CNET

Following the release of iOS 15.4, Apple on Thursday rolled out a small update called iOS 15.4.1. It resolves a battery-draining bug, along with a security flaw that Apple says “may have been actively exploited” on some devices.

Some iPhone users took to Twitter to complain about battery drain after installing iOS 15.4. Apple Support responded to these customers by tweeting that it’s normal for some apps and features to adjust for “up to 48 hours after an update.”

The update also fixes a bug that causes braille devices to become unresponsive when navigating text or showing an alert, as well as a bug that causes some iPhone hearing devices to lose connection in some third-party apps.

Apple’s iOS 15.4 was released on March 15, and the update included the ability to unlock your iPhone using Face ID while wearing a mask, Universal Control, 37 new emoji and other features.

For more Apple news, check out every new feature on iOS 15.4, CNET’s Apple Studio Display review and why an iPhone subscription could be a great idea.

Reminder: You Can Now Download A Free Lite Version Of Chocobo GP On Switch

Image: Square Enix

Chocobo GP is out now on the Nintendo Switch, and if you’re still on the fence about it, there’s no need to worry because Square Enix is offering players a chance to play the game before they buy the whole thing.

In fact, the free ‘Chocobo GP Lite’ offering isn’t a bad offering – it actually gives players access to the Story Prologue in single-player and also allows you to participate in the “Chocobo GP” mode, which is 64 tournament mode where you participate in races made up of 8 players.

There are three characters to choose from in GP’s Lite version – Chocobo, Shirma and Ben. And if you have a friend with a full copy of the game, you can access the regular local and online multiplayer modes.

One other handy thing is that save data (items and currency) will carry over to the full version of the game, if you do choose to upgrade. Will you be trying out this Lite version of Chocobo GP? Have you already upgraded? Tell us down in the comments.
