Jaylen Brown wants to help Donda Academy students after school reportedly closes

Jaylen Brown said that he’s leaving Kanye West’s Donda Sports earlier this week and spoke about that decision for the first time after the Celtics’ loss to the Cavaliers on Friday night at TD Garden.

“What would have happened if I stayed?” Brown said. “I work hard to be able to have the platform that I have and use it to be a voice for the voiceless. So to potentially maybe have to sacrifice that platform, I don’t think that would be the right decision, so I had to do what we have to do.”

After explaining his decision, Brown continued to talk passionately about wanting to help the students impacted by the reported mlosing of Donda Academy, a school that was founded by Kanye West in 2022.

“In terms of Donda Sports and those kids, that’s the emphasis I’m on right now,” Brown said. “These kids have nothing to do with what’s really going on. They don’t deserve to abruptly have their season end, or abruptly have their school year cut or diminished because of the actions of others. So I’ve been trying to lean in to get resources together to make sure that doesn’t happen. We live in a society where people see a headline and they feel like they know everything about a situation. I spent a lot of time with Donda, teaching, building relationships with those kids, those parents.

“The only thing they are guilty of is trying to get a unique opportunity to get ahead in life. It’s a lot of great events, opportunities and resources that were designed into that curriculum. For me — for you guys, maybe, it’s an association affiliated to Kanye West, but to me, it’s a school with kids, with parents, with teachers that have names and faces that I got to work with. So I look at that situation differently. I plan to use my platform to make sure those kids get what’s promised to them. Yes, a lot is going on, but I think that’s where the line is drawn. Education is key, and I think I’ve been about education my whole entire career. You can check my track record. I’m going to continue to fight for those kids and fight for kids in neighborhoods that necessarily don’t have people fighting for them. In this case, it’s a lot of opportunities and resources to a lot of kids, and it’s so much to unpack. I could talk up here about what’s being said and what’s not being said, and I don’t want to keep you guys here all night, but like I said before, these kids have nothing to do with what’s going on. Everybody feels like they know everything about a situation, but I spent time there. A lot of great families, teachers, and that’s what I see. So I’m going to try to make sure everything that’s promised to them in the foreseeable future and anybody who wants to align, contact me.”

Celtics’ Jaylen Brown, Rams’ Aaron Donald leaving Donda Sports

Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown and Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald both announced Tuesday night that they are leaving Donda Sports, the agency founded by the artist formerly known as Kanye West, due to antisemitic comments he recently made.

The announcements came hours after Adidas terminated its relationship with the rapper, who now is known as Ye.

Brown’s decision came one day after he told The Boston Globe he would remain with Donda Sports despite the fact he didn’t condone Ye’s remarks.

“In the past 24 hours, I’ve been able to reflect and better understand how my previous statements lack clarity in expressing my stance against recent insensitive public remarks and actions,” Brown said Tuesday in a statement he released via Twitter. “For that, I apologize. And in this, I seek to be as clear as possible. I have always, and will always, continue to stand strongly against any antisemitism, hate speech, misrepresentation, and oppressive rhetoric of any kind.

“In light of that, after sharing in conversations, I now recognize that there are times when my voice and my position can’t coexist in spaces that don’t correspond with my stance or my values. And, for that reason, I am terminating my association with Donda Sports.”

Donald announced around the same time that his family would leave Donda Sports, saying that Ye’s remarks “are the exact opposite of how we choose to live our lives and raise our children.”

“As parents and members of society, we felt a responsibility to send a clear message that hateful words and actions have consequences and that we must do better as human beings,” Donald wrote in his statement via Twitter. “We do not feel our beliefs, voices and actions belong anywhere near a space that misrepresents and oppresses people of any background, ethnicity or race. We’ve had the pleasure of working with many incredible people along the way and hope to continue to use our platform to uplift and support other families, children and communities through positive outreach.”

Brown and Donald signed with Donda Sports in May.

Earlier Tuesday, Adidas announced it would be formally cutting ties with Ye, who had developed a hugely lucrative clothing and apparel partnership with the company.

“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” the company said in a statement Tuesday. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”

As part of its statement, Adidas said it would lose roughly $250 million this year in net income as a result of breaking away from its partnership with Ye, but that doing so was necessary in the wake of antisemitic comments he has made in recent weeks.

Ye has made controversial remarks in the past on a variety of issues, including slavery and COVID-19 vaccines. Earlier this month, Ye posted on Twitter that he would soon go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE,” an apparent reference to the U.S. defense readiness condition scale known as DEFCON. He was suspended from both Twitter and Instagram.

His recent string of antisemitic comments has caused several companies to break ties with the rapper or his various business lines. Creative Artists Agency, Balenciaga, Gap and Foot Locker are among others that have ended their partnerships with him.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Aaron Donald terminates partnership with Kanye West’s Donda Sports after antisemitic comments

Los Angeles Rams All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald has terminated his marketing deal with Kanye West’s Donda Sports, Donald announced Tuesday. The decision comes after West made several recent antisemitic comments that resulted in the rapper being dropped by several major companies.

Donald announced in May he had joined Donda Sports, which West founded and named after his late mother. Donda Sports represented Donald only in his marketing deals.

The full statement from Donald and his wife, Erica, is below:

“Our family has made the decision to part ways with Donda Sports. The recent comments and displays of hate and antisemitism are the exact opposite of how we choose to live our lives and raise our children. We find them to be irresponsible and go against everything we believe in as a family.

“As parents and members of society, we felt a responsibility to send a clear message that hateful words and actions have consequences and that we must do better as human beings. We do not feel our beliefs, voices and actions belong anywhere near a space that misrepresents and oppresses people of any background, ethnicity or race.

“We’ve had the pleasure of working with many incredible people along the way and hope to continue to use our platform to uplift and support other families, children and communities through positive outreach.”

Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown also announced Tuesday that he was terminating his association with Donda Sports.

Donald was the only known active NFL player to sign with Donda. Free-agent wide receiver Antonio Brown had been named president of Donda Sports in February.

The 24-time Grammy-award winning rapper wrote on Twitter earlier this month that he would go “death [sic] con 3” on Jewish people. He’s worn “White Lives Matter” shirts and has previously said slavery was a choice.

On Tuesday, Adidas dropped West over his remarks. The brand had partnered with West since 2016, and the dissolution of the partnership could cost the brand up to $246 million, according to the company.

Donald told “I Am Athlete” podcast in May that partnering with West and Donda Sports was “a helluva opportunity to open up a lot of different doors.”

“It was an opportunity that came to us, me and [my wife], and it made sense,” Donald told the podcast. “Hearing the whole spectrum of what they were going to be bringing, the whole family atmosphere that they got in Donda Sports. Not just me, but my wife being a part of that. For me it was a no-brainer.”

In an interview with Piers Morgan last week, West name-dropped Donald in a rambling defense of his antisemitic comments and what it would take for him to apologize.

“When I sit down with the people who write out the contracts for the NBA, and for the NFL, and for professional music and for acting contracts,” West said. “We need to go to the top lawyers, the top execs, the owners of the stadiums, the owners of the football teams and the owners of the record labels, and we’re gonna put them all in one room. And we’re going to read every… go top-10 in each one of these categories. Let’s read Michael B. Jordan’s contract. Let’s read Aaron Donald’s contract…”

Morgan cut off West at that point and the two shouted back and forth. West asked to complete what he called “a brilliant idea.” He went on to say he wanted to compare and contrast the top contracts in the NFL, NBA and music industry on a live platform with a high-level legal team.

“After that moment happens,” West concluded, “then I will say I’m sorry.”

Donda Academy Educator Resigns Amid Kanye West Antisemitic Comments – The Hollywood Reporter

The educational consultant for Kanye “Ye” West’s unaccredited K-8 private Christian school, who holds a prominent position at two Jewish educational institutions, has resigned, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Tamar Andrews, who worked with Donda Academy since July and officially resigned earlier this month, is the director of early childhood education at both Temple Isaiah and American Jewish University, per websites for both institutions. Allison Samek, president of Temple Isaiah of Los Angeles, told THR in a statement: “Dr. Andrews immediately resigned from Donda Academy following Ye West’s tweet. Her last day was October 11, 2022 as she felt she could no longer support the organization.”

West has been widely condemned in recent days for his repeated antisemitic comments. Andrews has yet to respond to THR’s multiple requests for comment, and AJU declined to share a statement.

The rapper quietly opened Donda Academy, located in Simi Valley, in November 2021. Tuition hovers at $15,000 annually, and to attend, students (which currently total less than 100) are required to sign an NDA, and they are often seen wearing Adidas Yeezy Foam RNR shoes as part of their uniform. The head of school is Pepperdine University graduate student Brianne Campbell (who doubles as choir director for Ye’s Sunday Service group).

West’s antisemitic statements — on social media and interviews — have caused CAA, Balenciaga, Vogue and JP Morgan Chase to say they will no longer work with the star. Adidas, the company West has worked with since 2013 to manufacture and distribute items from his Yeezy clothing and footwear line, have yet to make a statement about the future of their relationship with the musician and designer other than to say the business is “under review.” (Morningstar analyst David Swartz told The Washington Post that West’s line generates roughly $2 billion for the German company every year).

However, several Hollywood heavyweights (including Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel and UTA chief Jeremy Zimmer) have elected to speak out against the artist, particularly after an antisemitic banner was hung condoning his hate speech with statements like “Kanye is right about the Jews” over the Los Angeles 405 freeway this past weekend. On Monday, Oct. 24, West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian released a statement condemning antisemitism and hate speech.

“We condemn this weekend’s anti-Semitic incidents. Jewish Angelenos should always feel safe,” Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti posted on Twitter in response to the incident.

“This is an outrageous effort to fan the flames of antisemitism gripping the nation. This group, known for espousing antisemitism and white supremacist ideology, is now leveraging Ye’s antisemitism and is proof that hate breeds more hate,” tweeted Jeffrey Abrams, ADL of Los Angeles Regional Director.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Andrews supported the academy’s decision to have the parents of each student sign “informal agreements.”

“Honestly, we don’t care if people know about the school,” she said. “The people that want to come to the school are looking for a good Christian school in that area and they know that we’re there … there is also a certain notoriety that comes with being affiliated with Donda. So, I don’t know that we have to advertise, which is a blessing and a curse.”

The academy, which has 16 full-time teachers, is currently accepting applications for the 2023-2024 school year.

According to the Donda Academy website: “Donda students grow in their faith and community through daily all-school worship and celebration at Sunday Service,” which is the spiritual home of West’s gospel choir. It continues: “Our experienced educators have an uncompromised passion for creating lifelong learners and Christ-followers.”

Update: Oct. 24, 6:36 p.m. Updated with news of Dr. Andrews’ resignation.

Kanye West seems perched to cash in with Donda Doves sportswear now that new Donda Academy is open

Kanye West seems perched to cash in with Donda Doves sportswear products now that his new Donda Academy is open

Kanye West seems interested in expanding his Donda Sports brand now that his Donda Academy is officially open.

The Christian Academy located in the Simi Valley near Los Angeles and named after the rapper’s late mother welcomed its first students August 31.

Documents obtained by TMZ indicate the Grammy winner, 45, is looking to cash in on merchandise with the Donda brand.

Donda: Kanye West, 45, seems perched to cash in on merchandise stemming from his new Donda Academy. Trademark documents indicate he wants to create a variety of merchandise under the Donda umbrella; seen in May in New York City

The Praise God artist’s company, Mascotte Holdings, has filed for several new trademarks that would lock up the rights to put the Donda Sports name on apparel such as  shirts, jackets, hats, shoes and other clothes.

He also wants to brand bags of all varieties, as well as hip bags, luggage, wallets, umbrellas and blankets.

Additionally, there are papers that indicate plans to expand Dove Sports, named after the school’s mascot.

Doves: The Donda Doves were featured on the cover of Slam recently. Their uniforms could indicate a notion of what is to come in terms of Doves branded merchandise

The Dove Sports label would give him exclusive rights to create athletic services such as training sessions, competitions, tournaments, camps, seminars, field trips and even traditional educational frameworks, including classes, workshops and seminars under the umbrella of the label.

The Donda Doves brand would allow the Eazy rapper to put the label on equipment, including baseball bats, basketballs, hockey pucks and more.

The plan appeared for the brand to extend beyond the school, allowing fans to buy their own Doves posters, mugs and sporting goods in Doves’ online retail stores.

First day:  Kanye shared a photo on Facebook from the first day of Donda Academy, named for his late mother writing, The Doves first day at Donda praise God. Their uniforms may give a glimpse into future merchandising plans

Pictures from the cover of Slam, featuring Kanye and the Donda Doves basketball team may give an indication as to what some of the sports gear would look like.

The players are in their team uniform which is white with the Dove logo on the shirt above their player numbers.

A photo from Kanye’s Facebook page celebrating the academy’s opening day, could give further insight to his plans. The students are attired in loose fitting black pants and long sleeve T-shirts with white wings on the back.

Kanye West celebrates Billboard charts excluding Donda 2: ‘I can no longer be counted or judged’

22-time Grammy winner Kanye ‘Ye’ West celebrated the fact that Billboard considers his self-released album Donda 2 ineligible to chart because fans have to buy his Stem Player, which costs $214.50 total with shipping.

‘Big win for the kid. We can no longer be counted or judged. We won, we won, we won, we won!’ the 44-year-old rapper-designer – who boasts 55.2M social media followers – wrote on Instagram Wednesday.

Kanye West samples ex wife Kim Kardashian’s SNL monologue during Donda 2 event

Kanye West continued to rock the boat with Kim Kardashian during his star-studded Donda 2 listening event at LoanDepot Park stadium in Miami, Florida on Tuesday night.

The rapper, 44, sampled a line from the 41-year-old reality star’s Saturday Night Live opening monologue ahead of his new track Sci-Fi, before taking a swipe at his estranged wife’s new boyfriend Pete Davidson.

West – who also brought out accused rapist Marilyn Manson to the stage during his performance – was officially premiering his latest album, yet then failed to release the track.

The star had previously vowed to drop the album on Tuesday exclusively on his own device Stem Player which costs $200.

Ahead of his new track Sci-Fi, West included a sample of Kardashian’s SNL speech, in which she said: ‘I married the best rapper of all time. Not only that, he is the richest black man in America. A talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.’

Agenda: Kanye West continued to rock the boat with his estranged wife Kim Kardashian during his star-studded Donda 2 listening event at LoanDepot Park stadium in Miami, Florida on Tuesday night

West conveniently left out the next line in the monologue where Kardashian joked about their divorce and made a dig about his ‘personality.’

‘So, when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to just one thing: his personality.’

She filed for divorce in February 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage. The former couple share four children: North, eight, Saint, six, Chicago, four, and Psalm, two.

Kardashian hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time in October 2021, just eight months after her and West’s public divorce proceedings.

West was in New York City at the time of the episode’s taping, with several reports claiming that he was coaching the SKIMS founder ahead of her hosting debut.

Sampled: The rapper, 44, sampled a line from the 41-year-old reality star’s Saturday Night Live opening monologue ahead of the track Sci-Fi, which is featured on his eleventh studio album

Kardashian famously shared an onscreen kiss with her now-boyfriend Pete Davidson, 28, during an Aladdin-themed sketch.

The following month, the unlikely duo went public with their romance by stepping out in Palm Springs holding hands.

The relationship, which is still going strong, has become a major point of contention between Kardashian and West, with the rapper using social media to rant about and threaten the comedian.

Art imitates life: Some of the songs Kanye performed during Tuesday’s listneing event appeared to reference his ongoing feud with Kardashian and her current boyfriend Davidson

During his Donda 2 listening event on Tuesday, West appeared to take aim at his estranged wife’s boyfriend in multiple songs, including one referencing her fears that Kanye’s behavior was compromising Pete’s safety.

The hitmaker didn’t miss an opportunity to shock viewers by again recruiting shock rocker Marilyn Manson — who has been accused by multiple women of sexual and psychological abuse — as well as Alicia Keys, DaBaby and Migos.

In the song Eazy, which was released last month, West rapped, ‘God saved me from that crash / Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s a**.’

The following song, titled Security, included lines about putting someone’s ‘security at risk.’

It comes after the rapper leaked texts from the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum warning him that he was putting her new boyfriend in danger with his social media outbursts.

The full picture: West conveniently left out the next line in the monologue where Kardashian joked about their divorce and made a dig about his ‘personality.’ She filed for divorce in February 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage; Kim and Kanye pictured in 2020

Sparks fly: Kardashian hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time in October 2021, where her romance with comedian Pete Davidson, 28, would begin and the pair famously shared a kiss during an Aladdin themed sketch

The hitmaker didn’t single out his estranged wife or her SNL star boyfriend, but references to family photos made it sound as if he was referring to his own family situation

‘Pop some, I ain’t getting frisked. I put your security at risk. Pop some I ain’t getting frisked. I put your security at risk,’ West rapped over the soundtrack, according to The Sun.

‘Ok we gon’ make this an event? y’all gone need security for this,’ he continued, adding, ‘Security gon’ need security for this.’

He continued: ‘Never take the family picture off the fridge. Never stand between a man and his kids. Y’all ain’t got enough security for this.

Mocking: One song, apparently titled Security, appeared to reference a text from Kim that Kanye leaked in which she complained that he was putting Pete Davidson’s safety at risk

‘I put your security at risk. I make your security all quit, like ‘we ain’t gettin paid enough for this.’

Last week, West shared screenshots of a text messages sent to him by Kardashian, asking he stop putting her current beau Pete Davidson in danger with his numerous public shots at him over social media.

The Grammy-winning musical artist shared a shot from the 2001 film Baby Boy in which Ving Rhames put Tyrese Gibson in a chokehold, writing, ‘UPON MY WIFE’S REQUEST PLEASE NOBODY DO ANYTHING PHYSICAL TO SKETE IM GOING TO HANDLE THE SITUATION MYSELF.’

He posted a series of screenshot of texts from Kardashian saying he was making things uncomfortable for the SNL star.

In the texts, Kardashian said, West was ‘creating a dangerous and scary environment and someone will hurt Pete and this will be all your fault,’ later saying, ‘There are dangerous people out there and this is scary and it doesn’t have to be.’

The Can’t Tell Me Nothing rapper replied to his estranged wife via text, ‘I will always do everything to protect you and our family forever. And I listened to you and told everyone to make sure nothing physical happens to Skete.’

In a subsequent post, Kardashian asked the Heartless vocalist why he couldn’t keep any of their conversations private, to which he responded, ‘Cause I got a text from my favorite person in the world.’

The Bound 2 rapper continued to Kardashian, ‘I’m your number one fan … Why wouldn’t I tell everyone!!!!’

Kanye was dressed in head-to-toe black as he rapped outside of a burned out replica of his childhood home that was surrounded by a shallow pond.

He appeared to be wearing piercing light-colored contacts that made his eyes stand out.

He was covered in a bulky black leather jacket while wearing matching pants, though he skipped the striking balaclavas he has favored in recent months and instead revealed his face.

On fire: The performance opened with new song True Love, with the vocals and Kanye’s rapping being broadcast as the house began to burn

Odd company: He was joined on Jail by shock rocker Marilyn Manson and DaBaby, who have both been embroiled in their own controversies, including sexual assault accusations

They were featured on the song Kid We Did It, which was shown in an apparent set list that Quavo posted to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday night.

The trio appeared to be lip syncing along with their verses, though they weren’t amplified.

After the short first half of the concert, which appeared to be devoted to Donda 2, Kanye returned and rapped in person for some previously released songs that had appeared on the original Donda.

He was joined on Jail by shock rocker Marilyn Manson and DaBaby. After wrapping up the performance with Off The Grid, their was a burst of intense fireworks and explosions pointed straight into the sky.

Manson, 52, – real name Brian Warner – has four sexual assault cases against him, including allegations of sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, human trafficking, and unlawful imprisonment.

Shocking: Evan Rachel Wood 9pictured in 2007 with Marilyn Manson) has accused him of raping her on the set of a music video, which he has since denied

The rocker – who is denying all charges – also faces accusations of sexual abuse and domestic violence from over 15 women in total, including actresses Evan Rachel Wood and Esmé Bianco.

On Tuesday Evan further detailed her accusations against Manson in the new trailer for the HBO documentary Phoenix Rising, having first accused him of abuse in February 2021.

‘Numerous women heard my story, and knew exactly who it was,’ said Wood, who would go on to name Manson as her alleged abuser in her original Instagram post.

The documentary also explores Wood’s efforts with The Phoenix Act, which would see the statute of limitations extended in cases in California involving domestic violence.

‘I became an activist, fighting for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault,’ Wood said in the preview. ‘Not only did people hear our stories but they said, “Yeah, we hear you, and something does need to change” … we need to make sure this doesn’t happen to anybody else.’

Wood said that amid her revelations and meeting with other survivors of sexual assault, she came to the conclusion that her words were resonating, at long last.

‘I realized that this is the first time I haven’t been doubted or questioned or shamed, this is the first time that someone was really listening,’ Wood said in the preview. ‘I was like, “What is this feeling?” And it’s this feeling of being believed.’

Exciting: On Tuesday Evan further detailed her accusations against Manson in the new trailer for the HBO documentary Phoenix Rising, having first accused him of abuse in February 2021

Wood was linked with Manson from 2006 until 2011. In the first installment in the documentary, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, she said that the Beautiful People artist had violated her in 2007 during the filming of his music video Heart-Shaped Glasses.

‘It’s nothing like I thought it was going to be,’ Wood said. ‘We’re doing things that were not what was pitched to me … we had discussed a simulated sex scene, but once the cameras were rolling, he started penetrating me for real. I had never agreed to that. I’m a professional actress, I’ve been doing this my whole life; I’ve never been on a set that unprofessional in my life up until this day.’

She added: ‘It was complete chaos. I did not feel safe. No one was looking after me. It was a really traumatizing experience filming the video. I didn’t know how to advocate for myself or know how to say no because I had been conditioned and trained to never talk back, to just soldier through.’

Wood said that in the wake of the video shoot, she had ‘felt disgusting’ and that she had done something shameful, adding, ‘I could tell that the crew was very uncomfortable and nobody knew what to do.’

She added that she ‘was coerced into a commercial sex act under false pretenses’ and ‘essentially raped on-camera,’ noting that she was ‘scared’ to expose Manson’s wrongdoings, and that it had taken her a ‘really long time’ to cease blaming herself for what had happened.

Let there be light: After wrapping up the performance with Off The Grid, their was a burst of intense fireworks and explosions pointed straight into the sky

Manson’s lawyers said earlier this month that Wood’s allegations of raping her in a music video were ‘brazen’ and easily debunked.

‘Of all the false claims that Evan Rachel Wood has made about Brian Warner, her imaginative retelling of the making of the “Heart-Shaped Glasses” music video 15 years ago is the most brazen and easiest to disprove, because there were multiple witnesses,’ said his lawyer, Howard King.

‘Evan was not only fully coherent and engaged during the three-day shoot but also heavily involved in weeks of pre-production planning and days of post-production editing of the final cut.

‘The simulated sex scene took several hours to shoot with multiple takes using different angles and several long breaks in between camera setups. Brian did not have sex with Evan on that set, and she knows that is the truth.’

Meanwhile DaBaby – real name Jonathan Kirk – came under fire for making homophobic statements in relation to HIV/AIDs on stage at Rolling Loud last July.

On hand: Alicia Keys was one of the guest performers at Kanye’s event. Both West and Keys appeared on Fivio Foreign’s recently released single City of Gods, which was performed at the show

Leading the way: She started off the song with her vocals while playing piano, and later she stood to join Fivio Foreign and Kanye

Great mood: Alicia was seen beaming earlier in the day as she arrived to the arena ahead of the listening event

Just as he did with his previous listening events for Donda, Kanye is allowing fans at home the chance to livestream the performance.

Viewers can watch the show on the website for the rapper’s Stem Player, a device he’s selling that is supposed to allow users to break down songs into individual snippets and instrumental or vocal parts that can then be remixed.

West has previously eschewed several streaming services with the release of his album The Life Of Pablo, which initially was only available on Tidal and via a downloadable version from his website.

However, he eventually relented, and the album was made available to stream or purchase on most major services.

From afar: Viewers who visited the website were initially shown a swirling circle of colors that pulsate to a heartbeat sound, but viewers could also watch a livestream in IMAX theaters

Pricy: Kanye previously tweeted that his new album Donda 2 would only be available to stream on his Stem Player, which costs about $230 on his website once tax and shipping costs are added in

Change of heart: He previously only released his album The Life Of Pablo on Tidal, but later relented and sold or streamed it on most major platforms

The show was set to begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, but as with nearly any performance involving West, the show hadn’t started by then.

Viewers who visited the website were initially shown a swirling circle of colors that pulsate to a heartbeat sound.

Fans looking for a higher-quality version of the performance could view the livestream in IMAX theaters across the country, though it’s unclear how the delay in the show’s start affected those screenings.

The hitmaker previously livestreamed his Free Larry Hoover benefit concert, which saw him ending his feud with his co-headliner Drake, on Amazon Prime.

Making bank: After Kanye announced that the album would only be available on Stem Players, he claimed to have sold more than 6,200 of the musical device, which amounted to more than $1.2 million in sales

Fiery: Previous listening events for West’s last album, titled Donda after his late mother’s first name, featured a replica of the rapper’s childhood home, which was set ablaze during the performance

Back for more? The current set appears to feature another replica of his old home, but this one appeared to be blackened from fire, though it’s unclear if it is the same structure that was previously used

Kanye previously tweeted that his new album Donda 2 would only be available to stream on his Stem Player, which costs about $230 on his website once tax and shipping costs are added in.

The players are supposed to come preloaded with Donda 2, and users will be able to break down the songs into ‘stems.’

After Kanye announced that the album would only be available on Stem Players, he claimed to have sold more than 6,200 of the musical device, which amounted to more than $1.2 million in sales.

Although Kanye explained that he was able to make much more money by keeping sales of his album through his own player, most of his audience may be unwilling to spend more than $200 dollars for a device to legally listen to his album.

Making a buck: As with his previous listening events and Sunday Service performances, Kanye appeared to be selling pricy merchandise to his most loyal fans

Merch table: The show at in Miami featured several charcoal hoodies and shirts, including items from his ongoing collaboration between his Yeezy brand and Gap

The rapper and producer may also relent in the future and make the album more widely available, as he did with The Life Of Palbo.

Earlier on Tuesday, The Daily Beast noted that many of the Monster rapper’s fans were upset after the album failed to drop at midnight, as it was set to be released on Tuesday.

However, he may have always intended to wait to release the album until after the live performance.

Tickets to the in-person listening event were available starting at $85, and the stadium appeared to be packed after doors opened.

Upscale: Last month, the rapper announced a new Gap collaboration incorporating the luxury brand Balenciaga, though it wasn’t clear if any of the Balenciaga-designed items were being sold

In his feelings: Last week, Kanye wrote that it was ‘bittersweet’ to see billboards in Times Square featuring his ex posing in Balenciaga ensembles

Previous listening events for West’s last album, titled Donda after his late mother’s first name, featured a replica of the rapper’s childhood home, which was set ablaze during the performance.

West himself was lit on fire after recreating his wedding to Kim Kardashian.

The current set appears to feature another replica of his old home, but this one appeared to be blackened from fire, though it’s unclear if it is the same structure that was previously set on fire or a newly created building.

As with his previous listening events and Sunday Service performances, Kanye appeared to be selling pricy merchandise to his most loyal fans.

The show at in Miami featured several charcoal hoodies and shirts, including items from his ongoing collaboration between his Yeezy brand and Gap.

Confusing: He added that it was ‘awesome’ and wished for ‘all positive energy,’ but he notably didn’t clarify if his statement was intended as an olive branch to Kim, or if he was wishing the best for the brand

Taking his time: The show was packed hours before it was set to begin at 9 p.m ET/6 p.m. ET, but the show was delayed

Here’s what happened at Kanye West’s ‘Donda Experience’ event in Miami

Kanye West held a listening event and live performance at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida, to coincide with the release of new album ‘Donda 2’.

The rapper, now legally known as Ye, announced the performance earlier this month with an image on social media that showed a house on stilts, engulfed in flames. The structure resembled the rapper’s childhood home, a recreation of which heavily featured during his third and final listening party for the original ‘Donda’ last year at Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium.

Fans watching the livestream from the beginning spent the first two hours and 45 minutes watching a continuous, pulsating heartbeat before the event properly began. As signalled, a recreation of Ye’s childhood home took up a large part of the arena, with fires blazing inside of it as the rapper appeared to walk on water.

Fans were played around 45 minutes of music, including both previously-unreleased tracks such as ‘Flowers’ and recent collaborations like ‘Eazy’ with The Game along with Pusha T‘s latest single ‘Diet Coke’, with Pusha appearing onstage alongside Ye as it played.

Other unreleased tracks that played featured the likes of Migos and Jack Harlow, both of whom also appeared beside Ye as their respective contributions played.

Harlow’s track opened with a vocal sample of Kamala Harris’ “We did it, Joe” phone call to US President Joe Biden, and saw Ye repeat the lyric: “I just stopped buying Louis bags after Virgil passed,” referencing the late fashion legend Virgil Abloh.

Other notable moments including Ye playing a sample of ex-partner Kim Kardashian’s SNL monologue from October of last year, in which she called him “the best rapper of all time” and the “richest Black man in America”.

Following an appearance from Ye’s Sunday Service Choir, the event moved to a live performance, with the rapper performing multiple songs from ‘Donda’ – including ‘Hurricane’, ‘Off the Grid’ (featuring Fivio Foreign and Playboy Carti) and ‘Jail 2’.

For the latter, Ye was joined by the track’s controversial featured artists: Marilyn Manson, who is facing multiple allegations and lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault, which he has denied, and DaBaby, who faced backlash last year after making homophobic comments during a festival appearance.

Fivio Foreign and Alicia Keys also appeared alongside Ye to perform their recent collaboration, ‘City of Gods’.

West revealed late last week that ‘Donda 2’ would only be available to listen to on his Stem Player device. First released alongside the original ‘Donda’ last year, the device – available for $200 (£150) – allows owners to remix the album’s songs using stems of vocals, drums, bass, samples and more, plus effects and other controls.

Over the weekend, West said he had made over $2.2million (£1.6m) in Stem Player sales in the 24 hours following his announcement it would be the only way to listen to ‘Donda 2’.

“I walked away from Apple right after having the most number 1’s in Apple history. Song Writers have been really hurt by streaming platforms,” Ye said of his decision to release ‘Donda 2’ exclusively through his Stem Player in a since-deleted Instagram post.

“Some say I’m the only one who can make this change. So as the leading innovator in music of the past 20 years. I’m putting my own work on the line to change it. I’ve already won by not being afraid to move. Now we’re winning because there are true supporters that have invested their hard earned money in my vision of freedom.”

Kanye West Says ‘Donda 2’ Will Be Released Exclusively on His Stem Player

Kanye West took to social media on Thursday night to notify fans that his forthcoming album Donda 2, which is set to drop later this month, will be released exclusively on his own platform, the Stem Player. The device costs $200 and allows users to customize tracks by isolating the different instruments and vocals that are featured on a song.

Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube,” Ye wrote in a post made to Instagram. “Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own. Go to stemplayer.com now to order.”

Ye’s post, which you can view below, also featured a short clip of music.

Donda 2 is scheduled to arrive next week on Tuesday, February 22. Ye’s Stem Player launched back in August of 2021 and was created by Yeezy Tech and Kano Computing. Head here to read more about the Stem Player and the history behind how it all came together.

Kanye’s 2016 album The Life of Pablo was also exclusively released to a platform, kind of. After arriving on Tidal exclusively, and Kanye saying that the project would “never never never” be made available anywhere else, the album was uploaded to other streaming services six weeks after its drop. This lead to a lawsuit that called the move a “deceptive marketing ploy.” The suit was eventually dismissed in 2019 after the parties involved came to an undisclosed agreement.

Speaking of Donda 2, Ye will be holding an event on the same day the project is set to drop at Miami’s LoanDepot Park stadium. A rep for Kanye previously told Complex that it will feature Ye performing live. You can head over to Ticketmaster to cop tickets for the show, which is titled “Kanye West: Donda Experience Performance.” Ye previously held events at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium during the rollout for his first Donda album.
