Disneyland employees laughed at disabled woman who fell exiting ride, died 5 months later, lawsuit alleges

The family of a disabled woman, 66, who died five months after suffering a fall on the Jungle Cruise ride says Disneyland employees laughed at the parkgoer while she struggled to get out of a boat, according to a wrongful death lawsuit.

Joanne Aguilar, 66, visited Disneyland in August 2021 and opted to ride on a regular Jungle Cruise boat with the assistance of her daughters when park employees said that a wheelchair accessible boat wasn’t available, according to the lawsuit filed in Southern California last November.

When Aguilar was trying to exit the boat at the end of the ride the lawsuit says she lost her balance and fell back, breaking her leg.

It also alleges that employees placed at the exit of the ride to help riders out not only didn’t assist her but laughed as she struggled to get up the boat’s steps.

“My clients went to Disneyland with the hopes of creating life-long happy memories and instead are left with the memory of a lack of dignity and respect for their mother which ultimately led to her final demise,” the family’s attorney Michael Jeandron told the Southern California News Group. “Two daughters are heartbroken, healing and seeking accountability for Disney cast members who laughed at their struggling mother instead of helping her.”

The lawsuit says employees “placed small unsecured blocks on top of the existing steps inside the boat to reduce the height of each step” as she was exiting the boat.

BILL PAXTON’S FAMILY NOTIFIES COURT OF INTENT TO SETTLE WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT AGAINST LA HOSPITAL

“Exiting the boat was more difficult as it required her to propel her body upward with her lower legs, which due to her disability was not possible. The struggle was apparent, and Disney cast members began snickered [sic] and giggling as they watched Ms. Aguilar try to safely exit the boat,” the lawsuit says, which made Aguilar fall backwards and break her leg.

She was rushed to a hospital, underwent surgery and then spent the next five months at a rehabilitation facility She contracted an infection and died of septic shock in January of last year.

The lawsuit, which names the Walt Disney company, Disney’s theme park division and Disneyland, alleges wrongful death, a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and seeks monetary damages for pain, mental suffering, humiliation, medical costs and funeral expenses.

The lawsuit was filed last November and was assigned a judge in a Santa Ana court early January.

Disney denied that it discriminated against Aguilar in any way and said that her injuries were caused by her own negligence in a written court response in late December. The company is seeking a jury trial.

Disney didn’t immediately return FOX Business’ request for comment.

“Mr. Christensen has been a respected leader in FVSD for over 20 years,” read a statement issued by the district. “His contributions and connections to this community are immeasurable. He was a father, husband, brother, and friend to so many. His passing leaves us devastated and heartbroken.”

According to police, it is not known if he jumped or fell from a parking structure in Anaheim, but police suspect he died by suicide.

Christensen, who was in his 50s, was scheduled to appear in court on Monday after he was recently charged with misdemeanor counts of child endangerment and battery. He pleaded not guilty to both crimes.

According to FVSD, grief counselors will be available at all schools to help students, staff and their families.

“I too am struggling to find adequate words to convey the shock and heartbreak we are all feeling right now,” said FVSD Superintendent Katherine Stopp in the district’s statement. “I know that we will find a way to come together as a community and care for one another. Let us all show patience to each other as we work through this time in the next days and weeks.”

Disneyland Offers California Residents New 3-day Deal – NBC Los Angeles

Disney has suspended sales of its Magic Key annual pass program and is offering California residents a new three-day, one-park-per-day ticket this summer for Disneyland and California Adventure, park officials said Tuesday.

The park rolled out the Magic Key program last August, with four choices ranging in cost from $399 to $1,399 per year. Disney officials said the program offered more choices and flexibility, with guests required to make reservations for Disneyland and California Adventure.

The $1,399 Dream Keys and the $949 Believe Keys sold out late last year, and as of Tuesday the $649 Enchant Keys and $399 Imagine Keys were no longer available.

Current Dream Key holders can still use their passes to make reservations, and park officials said they would be permitted to renew their passes, though further details were not immediately available.

The Magic Key program replaced the parks’ previous annual pass program, which was canceled in January 2021, partly as a way to limit daily crowds during the coronavirus pandemic.

The new three-day tickets start at $249 for admission on Mondays through Thursdays, or $299 for any day including weekends for eligible guests.

They are available for purchase beginning Tuesday and can be redeemed on any three eligible days from June 13 to Sept. 15, 2022, subject to park reservation availability.

Single-day tickets are still available, with variable pricing and subject to blackout dates. Park-hopper tickets, which allow guests to move between the parks after 1 p.m. subject to availability, can be purchased for an extra $60 per day.

Khloe Kardashian forced to ADMIT daughter True Thompson was Photoshopped into Disneyland photos

Khloe Kardashian has been forced to admit that her daughter True Thompson was Photoshopped into a set of Disneyland photos, less than six months after being called out in a fan theory online.

Fans suspected that True, four, had been edited into snaps taken at Disneyland with her cousin, Kim Kardashian’s daughter Chicago, late last year after a conspiracy on TikTok went viral.

But the façade crumbled after Khloe, 37, revealed it was her daughter’s first time in Disneyland on Tuesday, leading her to confess: ‘Welllppp I f**ked this one up.’

Last year, a fan on TikTok had theorized that it was actually Kylie Jenner’s daughter Stormi in the photo, alongside Kim Kardashian’s daughter Chicago.

FAKE: Khloe Kardashian has been forced to admit True was PHOTOSHOPPED into this 2021 Disneyland photo with her cousin Chicago

They suggested Stormi had been removed possibly to keep her out of the spotlight following the Astroworld tragedy that left ten people dead.

DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for Khloe and Kylie for comment.

While Khloe came clean she did not offer an explanation as to why True had been edited into the picture, instead diverting attention to her upcoming Hulu show.

‘Welllppp I f**ked this one up. Anyways….. let’s focus on something else (laughing crying emoji). Our show airs in a few days,’ Khloe, who did not post the edited Disney photos to her Instagram account, tweeted on Wednesday.

The truth came out after Khloe announced it was her daughter’s first time visiting the Happiest Place on Earth in videos posted to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday.

‘This is True’s first time to Disneyland!’ Khloe gushed as they visited the amusement park in honor of her daughter’s fourth birthday, contradicting the images shared late last year.

Not real: A TikToker theorized True had been Photoshopped over Stormi in a video posted last year

‘I f**ked this one up’: Khloe copped to the editing after a fan took her to task over the images

Last year TikToker maiachondrialmembrane theorized True had been Photoshopped over her cousin Stormi Webster in a video that has garnered over 2 million ‘likes.’

The suggestion was that True had been edited into the images as the Kardashians did damage control over Travis Scott’s Astrowor’ld tragedy, which had occurred just a month before the Photoshopped images were posted.

Fans noticed True had been Photoshopped into images taken when Kylie Jenner visited Disneyland with her daughter Stormi and family in October 2021, a month before the Astroworld incident.

Uh-oh: The façade crumbled after Khloe revealed it was her daughter’s first time in Disneyland on Tuesday

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Kylie rarely posted anything on social media, only sharing two images to her grid in the month of December.

Observant fans also noticed photos of True posted back in July were the ones edited into the Disneyland image.

‘This lovely Instagram page revealed to me that I’m not crazy. True is Photoshopped,’ the TikToker said. ‘Not only is she Photoshopped, but she’s Photoshopped onto a photo of Stormi from October.

‘I was just so weirded out. ‘Cause I’m like, maybe Kylie didn’t want us to see Stormi but Kim really wanted us to see this photo of Chicago for some reason so she Photoshopped it?’

Shrugging off the controversy: After admitting to the edit, Khloe posted these glam shots of her on her Instagram on Wednesday morning

‘Too tired to think of a caption’: The reality star looked stunning in a beige mini with a head full of cascading waves

Not long after the Disneyland images were shared, Travis posted his first Instagram photo since the tragedy.

‘I was really confused. But you know, shortly thereafter, a couple hours later, Travis Scott makes his return to Instagram. And then it all sort of clicked, and I realized they’re as calculated as ever – allegedly,’ the TikToker said.

‘What it really makes me wonder how these conversations go, and do they not feel crazy when they’re like, “Okay, I’m going to post this, Photoshop it, distraction, Travis then you post, make it black and white, makes you look mournful. Kylie, you can comment, don’t say anything, people will criticize that, just put hearts.”‘

Reaction to the confession came pouring in, with several wanting to know why the edit had occurred.

‘WHY KIM?!’ One Instagram user wrote in the comments section of the Disney photos.

‘Came here just to say WHY Kim,’ another commented.

One fan was more supportive of Khloe for her honesty.

‘Love how real this made you. We see characters on a screen but this reply just made you seem normal,’ they tweeted.

In 2000, a Disneyland ticket cost $41. A price hike just increased it to $164.

If you want to visit Disneyland on its busiest days, be prepared to pay even more.

Disney announced Monday that it’s adding a sixth level to its tiered ticket price system, a level that becomes available when there’s high demand at the parks. The sixth tier will set you back $164 for a single-day, single-park ticket; if you want the ability to visit both parks in the single day, you’ll need to pay $224. Tier six is set to start going into effect in March 2022.

In 2000, a single-day ticket to Disneyland cost $41. Adjusted for inflation, that ticket would cost $62 today.

Tiers two through five are also going up starting in March 2022. Tier two (previously $114) goes up to $119, tier three (previously $124) goes up to $134, tier four (previously $139) goes up to $149 and tier five (previously $154) goes up to $159. The first tier will remain the same at $109, but only applies to the lowest-demand days, generally weekdays in slower months like February.

If you want multi-day park hopper tickets, those have also increased. A two-day park hopper pass, which used to cost $290, is now $315. To see a full breakdown of price changes, see the Disney Food Blog.

This is the first ticket price increase at Disneyland since before the pandemic; increases went into effect in February 2020, shortly before the parks shut down.

Parking has also increased, effective immediately. It used to cost $25 a day to park in the main lots. It’s now $30. If you are self-parking at the Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier Hotel or Grand Californian, it’s gone from $25 to $40 per day. If you want valet parking, that will be $50. As MarketWatch notes, parking cost 55 cents when Disneyland opened in 1955. Adjusted for inflation, that would be about $5 today.

After a long year of Disney nickel and diming guests — and adding a pricey paid system to jump ride lines — the news was not well received.

“The product that Disneyland is producing is far below what it should be,” one Twitter user posted. “Honestly raising prices now is an insult and really shows why people should show their opinions with their wallets instead of just blindly paying [because] you love it.”

“Why can’t Disneyland wait until they Bring back all the parade/shows before they start increasing the price!” asked another, a common sentiment among guests.

A thread on the Disneyland subreddit was similarly downtrodden.

“I feel like they could double the prices from where they are today next year and people will still go about the same,” one user posted. “I feel the day where I just don’t go to Disneyland anymore might be on the horizon.”
