Tesla delivery time is longer on some China models after discounts

SHANGHAI, Jan 9 (Reuters) – Prospective Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) buyers in China are waiting longer for certain versions of its Model Y car, suggesting the electric-vehicle maker’s decision to cut prices is stoking demand in its second-largest market.

The waiting time for orders of the rear-wheel-drive and long-range versions of Model Y was a week longer on Monday than it had been on Friday, Tesla’s website showed.

The company’s shares rose about 8% to $122.20 on Monday after losing 68% in the past 12 months.

The wait as of Monday was two to five weeks on those models. The wait time for all versions of the Model 3 and the performance version of the Model Y remained at one to four weeks as of Monday.

Tesla cut prices by 6% to 13.5% on Friday in discounts that brought some of its cars to near BYD’s (1211.HK) best-selling models in a step analysts read as a sign that a price war could be building at a time when demand in China has faltered.

As of Monday, Tesla had not made any adjustment to its January production plan for its Shanghai plant, with suspension of the assembly lines to start from Jan. 20 through the end of the month, a person with knowledge of the matter said.

“It (the wait time) is an early indication that the price cuts are having their intended impact, which is to boost demand,” said CFRA Research analyst Garrett Nelson.

Nelson added that Tesla’s vehicle production has exceeded sales for three straight quarters and the company has chosen to lower prices and take some additional downtime at the Shanghai factory to bring supply and demand back in balance.

Angry Chinese owners who bought Tesla cars in late 2022 and missed out on the additional discount said they were waiting for a response from the company for their demand for some kind of compensation after a flurry of impromptu protests.

A Tesla representative told Reuters on Saturday that the company has no plan to compensate those buyers for price cuts they had missed. The company did not respond to a request for comment on Monday.

Some of the buyers in China said they had been led to believe that the further discounts would not be coming. Many were also looking to take advantage of a nation-wide EV subsidy that expired at year end.

Chinese state media have largely opted not to cover the protests, which online videos showed happened in cities including Beijing, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Xi’an. Reuters witnessed a protest at a Tesla facility in Shanghai.

Comments on Chinese social media were largely negative toward the Tesla buyers who have protested, with many saying online they should have understood the terms of the contract.

“I feel ashamed for them protesting after Tesla cut the prices,” a popular law blogger named “Wind Blows” commented on his Weibo social media.

Separately, Tesla began offering discounts to buyers in Singapore as of Monday who agreed to purchase existing inventory, adding that market to China, South Korea, Japan and Australia to those where it has offered new incentives.

Tesla doubles discounts on mainstay vehicles to $7,500 in U.S.

Dec 21 (Reuters) – Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) is offering $7,500 discounts on Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles (EV) delivered in the United States this month, its website showed on Wednesday, amid concerns the automaker is facing softening demand as economies slow and EV tax incentives loom.

That is up from the $3,750 credit it has offered on Model 3 and Model Y vehicles delivered before the end of the year. It has also recently started offering free supercharging for 10,000 miles (16,093 kms) for the December vehicles.

The latest discount came just days after the U.S. Treasury Department delayed restrictions on EV incentives until March, meaning Teslas and other U.S-made electric vehicles are likely to qualify for the full $7,500 credits temporarily.

Customers have canceled their orders and held off their purchases until the new credits take effect in January, weighing on Tesla demand.

Analysts also worry that rising interest rates and CEO Elon Musk’s controversial Twitter management could hurt the Tesla brand and sales.

“The fact they seem to be cutting price to increase deliveries volumes doesn’t raise confidence, particularly at a time where we see increasing competition,” Craig Irwin, a senior analyst at ROTH Capital Partners, said.

The rare discounts follow a series of price hikes over the past couple of years by the automaker, which blamed supply chain disruption and inflation.

Tesla is also offering $5,000 credit in Canada on Model 3 and Model Y vehicles delivered before the end of the year. The U.S. automaker has also given a discount of 6,000 yuan ($860) on some models in China to the end of 2022.

Tesla in October said it would miss its vehicle delivery target this year, but downplayed concerns about demand after its revenue missed Wall Street estimates.

McDonald’s hopes discounts, contests boost mobile sales

Sopa Images | Lightrocket | Getty Images

Last holiday season, McDonald’s leaned on singer Mariah Carey’s starpower and discounts to drive customers to their mobile app.

This year, the Chicago-based restaurant giant is going further, giving customers the chance to win free McDonald’s for life for themselves and three of their friends with every mobile order. The chain is also offering exclusive access to branded merch releases and deals on food, like a 50-cent double cheeseburger.

The three-week-long promotion, which began Monday, is part of the company’s broader digital strategy to drive traffic to its mobile app through seasonal promotions and create recurring revenue without sacrificing profitability.

In recent years, restaurant companies have turned to loyalty programs to drive downloads of their mobile app and convince customers to keep coming back. McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said in late October that roughly two-thirds of U.S. customers who used the app in the last year had been active on it in the previous 90 days.

Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer for McDonald’s U.S. division, told CNBC that app users are “more meaningful and more profitable” than other customers.

A little more than a year after its U.S. launch, McDonald’s loyalty program has 25 million members who had been active on the company’s mobile app over the prior 90 days, as of Sept. 30.

For comparison, Starbucks, which has had a loyalty program for more than a decade, reported 28.7 million active U.S. members during its latest quarter. Chipotle Mexican Grill’s three-year-old rewards program has 30 million members, although the chain doesn’t disclose how many have been active over the last three months.

‘Boring’ creativity

Hassan, who joined McDonald’s more than a year ago after a stint at Petco, said that roughly 40% of digital customers start using its app thanks to marketing and paid media. The fast-food giant has been getting creative, pushing beyond advertising and discounts to attract new app users, particularly through promotions pegged to the time of year.

For example, the company held “Camp McDonald’s” for four weeks this summer. The program included discounts on its menu items, virtual concerts and limited-edition merch collaborations for mobile app users.

Hassan said the company had a goal of adding 2 million app users during the virtual camp but didn’t share how many members it actually added. (The promotion also angered some customers when issues with the third-party site resulted in hours-long virtual queues to buy a Grimace-themed pool float that sold out.)

Still, McDonald’s digital strategy isn’t mean to be flashy. Hassan said he’s told his team to be comfortable being “boring.”

“You don’t change your strategy just to change it, to do the new and exciting thing,” he said.

One way that McDonald’s has gotten comfortable being boring is through its menu. In the early days of the pandemic, like so many other restaurant chains, McDonald’s scaled back its offerings, eliminating items like parfaits and salads, to focus on classic items like the Big Mac and McNuggets. The move away from limited-time menu items proved successful, fueling U.S. sales growth even as lockdowns lifted and consumers resumed their old routines.

McDonald’s digital promotions have also leaned on core menu items. Celebrity meals in 2020 and 2021 put a spotlight on the favorite orders of musicians such as rapper Saweetie, featuring classic menu items like French fries and cheeseburgers.

“When you have that kind of strategic consistency, it gives you more time to wrap those windows with really interesting, exciting and unexpected experiences,” Hassan said.

Cyber Monday graphics card deals live: all the best discounts going right now

Refresh

ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8GB AMP Holo | $749.99 $599.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

This is a record low price on ZOTAC’s RTX 3070 Ti graphics card – a $150 discount drops that $749.99 MSRP all the way down to $599.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab). That’s an excellent offer considering prices have been stuck at around $650 since July and before then even that $749.99 previous price was a dream.

UK: £659.99 £599.99 at Ebuyer (opens in new tab)

Yeston RTX 3080 10GB | $75 gift card | $1,099 $769 at Newegg (opens in new tab)

You can save $330 and score yourself a $75 gift card on this Yeston RTX 3080 card. This is a pre-order, due for release on November 30, but there’s not long to wait for shipping and you’re getting a rare discount where we’re seeing plenty of out of stock signs up at other retailers. All in all, you’re spending $769 (was $1,099) (opens in new tab) at Newegg, with excellent value overall.

Zotac Gaming RTX 3060 Ti AMP White Edition | $389.99 at Newegg (after applying code ‘BFDBY2A787’)

Again, only a small discount in terms of ‘amount of dollars’ but don’t let that deceive you – the RTX 3060 Ti was and probably still is the very best value 30-series card of the whole line from a performance-to-dollar perspective, so getting on at a sub-$400 price point is a great deal if you have your set on a Cyber Monday graphics card deal from Team Green this winter.

And, hey, it also serves those of you working in that niche white-build zone too! A great deal.

UK: £449.95 at Amazon is a great price for this card in the UK, not far off its record low, but if you’re looking for the best deal on an RTX 3060 Ti, then this similar model from Zotac is your best bet at £409.98 (was £479.99) at ebuyer.

Gigabyte Gaming OC Radeon RX 6650 XT | $304.99 $269.99 at Newegg

Arguably the better of the Cyber Monday graphics card deals are on the AMD side of things (using a very broad brush of course – though if your allegiance is with Nvidia, then there are loads of good offerings there).

Anyway, showing that Team Red’s deals offer some serious bang for buck this winter, Newegg’s price of $269.99 on the splendid RX 6650 XT card is really hard to beat. And we mean it – it’s one of the lowest we’ve ever seen on the card! It’s only a small saving today from Newegg’s listed price (but you do get some free games too), but it doesn’t feel that long ago that the original variant of the card originally launched at the $370 mark to take on the RTX 3060 cards. Now you can get this refreshed, faster version of the card for less than an RTX 3050! Madness, but good madness, and the kind of madness we can heartily recommend.

UK: £430.99 at Amazon is the lowest price we can find on this model, but, again, if you cast your eyes elsewhere you can get an RX 6650 XT for way less – a Gigabyte Eagle variant can be yours for just £299.99 at ebuyer right now.

ZOTAC Gaming RTX 3070 Twin Edge | $529.99 $450.49 at Amazon

Anyway, back to actual cards for the Cyber Monday graphics card deals. While the 30-series range is slowly on its way out due to the arrival of the 40-series cards, they are – perhaps obviously – incredibly competent and excellent cards in their own right. And given the fact that those in the middle of the pack (the 3060 and 3070 and their Ti brethren) also won’t be replaced for a little while yet, means they are splendid mid-range picks this winter. This ZOTAC model going for its lowest-ever price is a great value offering and would provide all the benefits of the 30-series line and get you some incredible 1440p performance too.

UK: £549.98 at Scan is the best price we can find on the same model of RTX 3070, but if you’re after the cheapest 3070 deal from any brand, then this Gigabyte Eagle model at Box for just £506.92 is a belting deal.

AlphaSync Meshify RTX 4080 PC | £3,299.98 £3,174.98 at ebuyer

And to demonstrate that same ‘Cyber Monday graphics card deal in a new PC’ concept for our UK readers, there’s this neat little saving on an RTX 4080 build over at ebuyer. It does have a Gen4 SSD (unlike the previous iBUYPOWER machine in the USA, as well as a Ryzen 9 77900X processor, and 32GB of RAM. A swell machine, and one that we can heartily recommend and see being a great jump up from something like a 20-series machine – and certainly older. Solid value, and from a retailer you can trust.

iBUYPOWER Extreme Gaming RTX 4090 PC | $3,549 $3,352.55 at iBUYPOWER

It’s worth remembering that some of the best Cyber Monday graphics card deals will be where the new GPU is smuggled inside a new PC – and this one gets you a brand-new RTX 4090. Of course, we’re not suggesting for a moment that you splash out thousands on a PC for a single part, but if you’re considering revamping your machine or setup around a new graphics card then whole machines can be very tempting. And, this is often the best way to save a bit of cash too – like this iBUYPOWER Extreme machine. While it’s only got a Gen3 SSD, there’s a strong supporting cast of 32GB of RAM, an i9-13900KF CPU, and all the iBUYPOWER pedigree – plus a decent warranty.

For full disclosure, our sister site PCGamer reported a larger saving yesterday but we haven’t been able to replicate that. However, we’ll still take this near-$200 off a new, premium machine! Remember to use the code BLACKFRIDAY to get this discount.

MSI Gaming Radeon RX 6950 XT | $999.99 $779.99 at Newegg

You’ll likely, and quickly, find that Newegg really is the place to be for not only all Cyber Monday graphics card deals but a lot of the wider Cyber Monday gaming PC deals too – and for good reason too. An example of that reason is this chunky discount on an AMD 6950 XT graphics card which takes it down to a lowest-ever price. Superb value for a 16GB card, and you get up to two games thrown in for free to sweeten the deal! (Just remember to add the rebate card to get the full discount!)

UK: £1,189.90 £829.98 at ebuyer

Salutations to you deal delvers, and discount travelers! Welcome to our live coverage of the Cyber Monday graphics card deals where we are going to be presenting a great big range of cards that have had the sales season treatment. As we mention in our preamble above, there’s going to be something here for everyone no matter what you’re looking for as every year’s Cyber Monday graphics card deals are solid and provide great options for folks looking to upgrade, build from scratch – or even gift.

So buckle up, and let’s get started and see where this road takes us! (Deals and money off things; it’ll take us to deals and money off things.)

Black Friday gaming deals live: all the biggest discounts across PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PC

Refresh

Xbox Series S | £249 £189 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Heading over to the UK this morning, we’re calling back to this Xbox Series S deal that’s still available at Amazon. You’re scoring a record low price on this cheaper console, with a full £60 off the final price tag. That means the Series S is now just £189 (opens in new tab) – much better than the £249.99 RRP. Considering we’ve never seen that cost go below around £240 that’s an excellent offer and one we certainly wouldn’t want to miss out on.

Elgato HD60 X external capture card | $199.99 $149.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

The Elgato HD60 X capture card is perfect for mid-range streaming – and you’ll find it with an impressive $50 discount at Amazon right now. This brings that $199.99 MSRP down to a record low $149.99 position (opens in new tab) today, excellent news for PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Mac players. We’ve never seen that $200 price point waver, so this is a particularly strong offer.

Razer Viper Ultimate gaming mouse | $129.99 $56.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

The Razer Viper Ultimate was one of our favorite gaming mice back in its day and it still packs a punch with its 74g form factor to boot. That, combined with the excellent $56.99 price tag (opens in new tab) makes this one of the best offers we’ve seen so far. You’re picking up a super-powerful fps-first pointer for 56% off its standard $129.99 MSRP right here, and saving a full $73 in the process.

iBuyPower RTX 3070 gaming PC | $1,449.99 $1,149.99 at Best Buy (opens in new tab)

This iBuyPower RTX 3070 PC was already pretty strong at $1,449.99, but Best Buy’s Black Friday gaming deals have just shunted that price all the way down to $1,149.99 (opens in new tab). That’s a full $300 discount on this powerful rig. You’re packing an i7-12700F processor in here, alongside a 1TB SSD, that Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU, and 16GB RAM.

Sony Pulse 3D headset | $99.99 $69 at Walmart (opens in new tab)

If you’re kitting out your PS5 setup this Black Friday, we’d recommend checking out this $30 discount on the official Pulse 3D headset. You’ll find a record low $69 sales price (opens in new tab) at Walmart right now (but if you’re after the Midnight Black version you’re better off heading to Amazon (opens in new tab)). Considering we’ve never seen this set of cups move too far beyond $90 that’s an excellent – and particularly rare – offer.

UK: £91.17 £69.99 at Amazon

Extra savings alert!

We’ve just spotted an additional 11% off the already excellent $729 RTX 3060 Gigabyte laptop at Newegg, reported yesterday. That brings the price down to an astonishing $648.81 (opens in new tab) (with code ZIP11 w/ ZIP) – incredible news for anyone after a machine with components punching well above their price tag. You’re getting a Ryzen 5 5600H processor in here, with 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD – those are specs we just don’t see under $600.

Two Point Campus | $39.99 $19.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Two Point Campus is only a few months old, but is already half price in Amazon’s Black Friday gaming deals. You’ll find this $19.99 sale price (opens in new tab) on the PS5 and Xbox versions of the game, with Nintendo Switch kicking things slightly up to $24.99. That’s as much as $20 off the final cost and a brand new record low price.

UK: £34.99 £20.95 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

PS5 | God of War Ragnarok | $559 at Walmart (opens in new tab)

The PS5 is still in stock at Walmart, following a drop yesterday to kick off this week of sales. That’s a stunning result considering Walmart hasn’t offered any PS5 restocks for some time now. Last time the console was on these shelves it held out for a particularly long time, but we still wouldn’t wait too long to jump on this availability. You’ll find the console, alongside God of War Ragnarok available for $559 (opens in new tab)

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | $59.99 $39.99 at Best Buy (opens in new tab)

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is $20 off at Best Buy in today’s Black Friday gaming deals. That means you’re picking up your own deserted island for just $39.99 right now (was $59.99) (opens in new tab). In general, we only see this title kicking down to $45 at its cheapest, so you’re getting a solid price here.

UK: £36.99 at Currys (opens in new tab)

Nintendo Switch | Mario Kart 8 Deluxe | 3 months Nintendo Switch Online | $299.99 at Best Buy (opens in new tab)

We previously saw this bundle go live in the UK (and reported it further down the page), but we’ve just spotted the annual bundle going live at Best Buy. This truly is the best Nintendo Switch offer of the year, and it’s the best we see every year. However, these consoles don’t last long on the shelves – if you’re interested in grabbing a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and three months of Nintendo Switch Online for just $299.99 (opens in new tab) we’d recommend moving fast.

Gigabyte A5 K1 15.6-inch RTX 3060 gaming laptop | $1,199 $729 at Newegg (opens in new tab)

It’s rare to find a gaming laptop with an RTX 3060 GPU in it for under $800 – it’s even rarer still to find one with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. However, that’s exactly what this Gigabyte A5 is up to today, with a $470 discount at Newegg offering up a $729 sale price (opens in new tab) on the Ryzen 5 5600H configuration. You’re getting incredible value for money here – this is one of our favorite deals of the week.

Meta Quest 2 | Resident Evil 4 | Beat Saber | $399.99 $349.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Not only are you scoring a $50 discount on the Meta Quest 2 (the largest we’ve ever seen), but you’re also picking up two free games here. That’s some excellent value that works to negate the price increase we saw earlier in the year. If you found yourself on the wrong side of that $100 inflation in the summer, this is the best value we’ve seen since then. You’ll find this whole package available for $349.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab) right now.

UK: £399.99 £349 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Dying Light 2: Stay Human | $59.99 $24.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Dying Lights 2 has hit a new record low price across PS5, PS4, and Xbox in Amazon’s latest Black Friday gaming deals. With a full $35 off the final cost you’re scooping up this 2022 release for just $24.99 (opens in new tab) – 58% off the $59.99 MSRP. Whether you’ve been holding out for a discount or you’re stocking up ahead of a backlogged holiday season, there’s plenty of value here – across all platforms.

UK: £59.99 £29.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini wireless gaming keyboard | $179.99 $99.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

The Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini takes one of our favorite wireless gaming keyboards and shrinks it down into a 65% form factor. That means you’re keeping the speed of those tactile mechanical switches, as well as the reliable HyperSpeed wireless connection, while also keeping space on your desk for those wild mouse sweeps. The best part is that today you’ll find this luxury deck available for just $99.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab) – $80 off the $179.99 MSRP. That’s a return to a record low price we haven’t seen since Prime Day. Usually, this deck only bottoms out at around $117.

The Logitech G920 racing wheel for Xbox is $100 off in Best Buy’s Black Friday deals, dropping things down to just $199.99 (opens in new tab). While we have seen that price settle at $188 in the past, such a discount hasn’t been spotted since 2019 – this is the best deal we’ve seen ever since then. Compatible with Xbox and PC, you’re sorted for a range of titles with this force feedback wheel and pedal set.

Samsung 980 Pro 2TB PS5 SSD with heatsink | $399.99 $189.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

This is the cheapest we’ve ever seen the massive 2TB Samsung 980 Pro PS5 SSD. That price has been trickling down from its $399.99 position since January, but has only ever reached $219.99 in the past. That means you’re saving an additional $30 over the previous record – and securing yourself a huge $210 saving with this $189.99 price (opens in new tab). There’s plenty of room to keep all your new games in here, and with the heatsink built in there’s no faffing in installation either.

UK: 1TB | £180.99 £99.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Alienware Aurora R13 RX 6500 XT gaming PC | $1,479.99 $899.99 at Dell (opens in new tab)

With $580 off the final price, this Alienware Aurora R13 is coming in particularly hot in Dell’s own Black Friday gaming deals. You’re getting an i5-12400F configuration for just $899.99 here (opens in new tab), with a starter 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD and an AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT. That configuration isn’t going to light the world on fire, but wrapped up in a luxury Alienware chassis, and with the latest Intel processor at the helm, there’s still solid value in this price range.

Xbox Wireless controller | $59.99 $39 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

The Xbox Wireless controller has just dipped back down to its lowest ever price at Amazon. That’s a stunning result – and one we certainly didn’t expect after that cost remained stuck at $44.99 in last year’s Black Friday gaming deals. We don’t know how long this $20 discount (opens in new tab) will last then, but we’re also seeing other colorways up for grabs at $39 as well – so things are looking good at the moment. Prices are generally stuck at between $49.99 and $54.99 on these gamepads year-round, so you’re picking up a steal here.

UK: £54.99 £34.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Stray (PS5) | $39.99 $29 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Amazon has just cut $10 from this physical edition of Stray on PS5. That leaves us with an excellent $29 sales price (opens in new tab) on the $39.99 game – a brand new record low. Perfect for anyone looking to kick back with some fuzzy friends this holiday season, while also keeping their game box collection looking healthy as well. We haven’t seen too many discounts on this already cheaper title, so today’s offer is particularly strong.

UK: £34.99 £29.95 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

HP Victus 15.6-inch GTX 1650 gaming laptop | $799.99 $479.99 at Best Buy (opens in new tab)

We almost never see gaming laptops drop below $500 – even on Black Friday – so finding an HP Victus with a 12th generation i5 processor and 144Hz display for just $479.99 (opens in new tab) is an incredible feat. You’re securing $320 in savings with this Black Friday gaming deal at Best Buy – and while you are dropping down to a GTX 1650 graphics card you’re still getting plenty of power for lighter entry level play.

Logitech G502 Hero gaming mouse | $79.99 $34.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

The Logitech G502 Hero is a spectacular budget iteration of one of the best gaming mouse models on the market right now. This wired pointer packs a 25K sensor, with 11 programmable buttons and an adjustable weight design. That makes it a flexible, powerful device for pretty much any genre. All of that comes in at just $34.99 (opens in new tab) in today’s Black Friday deals – 56% (or $45) off the $79.99 MSRP.

UK: £79.99 £39.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Nintendo Switch (Animal Crossing Edition) | $35 Dell gift card | $299.99 at Dell (opens in new tab)

If you’re after a Nintendo Switch saving in the US, we’d recommend heading over to Dell for today’s best offer. The Animal Crossing edition of the standard console hasn’t seen any discounts in the US so far, so this free $35 gift card (opens in new tab) is looking particularly strong. We were previously seeing a $75 gift card available with the OLED model, but that was run from the shelves particularly quickly – we wouldn’t wait too long if this one looks good, then.

Nintendo Switch | Mario Kart 8 Deluxe | 3 months Nintendo Switch Online | £316.97 £259.99 at Very (opens in new tab)

We’re hopping over the pond now, to take a look at this official Black Friday bundle at Very. A Nintendo Switch console will set you back £259.99 by itself, but you’re also picking up a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and three months of Nintendo Switch Online here. All in, that’s a total £316.97 value – for a full £56.98 saving (opens in new tab). This is one of the best Nintendo Switch bundles we see year after year, but it’s generally reserved for these Black Friday gaming deals.

PS5 DualSense Controller | $69.99 $49 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

The PS5 DualSense controller is at an all-time record low price at Amazon right now. A $20 discount brings this $69.99 gamepad down to just $49 (opens in new tab) in the retailer’s Black Friday PS5 deals. That’s a stunning result – $10 cheaper than we’ve ever seen it before. Whether you’ve managed to score a console recently or you’re looking to replace some battle-worn buttons, this is a must-see offer. What’s more, we’re seeing a range of color options included in this discount as well.

UK: £59.99 £39.99 at Amazon (opens in new tab)

Xbox Series S | $299.99 $234.99 at Dell (opens in new tab)

The Xbox Series S has dropped to a record low price in Dell’s early Black Friday Xbox deals this week. That’s right, this sneaky retailer has one-upped Microsoft’s own $50 discount with a $65 saving of its own. That means this is the best way to buy the budget console in this week’s sales – down to just $234.99 (was $299.99) (opens in new tab). We don’t know how much longer this offer can hold out though – it’s been on the shelves for a few days now.

Black Friday gaming PC deals live: all the best discounts as they happen

Refresh

CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme | $1,999.99 $1,679.99 at Best Buy

RTX 3080 alert! This configuration from CyberPowerPC at Best Buy saves you $320, and gets you some very beefy components. Inside we have a 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900KF CPU, the aforementioned RTX 3080 GPU, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD. For under $1,700, this is a really powerful build.

Despite a new 40 series of GPUs releasing, the RTX 3080 is one of the best cards on the market. Now that it’s readily available and chip shortages are a shudder-inducing memory we don’t have to worry about, its more than worth seeking out the famously elusive 30 series GPUs in pre-built gaming PCs. If you have the cash for this type of power, get it while you can – you don’t want to wait around for stock levels to dwindle as the week goes on.

iBUYPOWER Slate MR293i | $1,799.99 $1,429.99 at Newegg

So far, I’ve been feeding you plenty of lower-end, budget-friendly picks, so here’s a deal from Newegg that will give you a little more bang for your buck. Under the hood of this iBUYPOWER Slate we have an Intel Core i9 11th Gen CPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 1TB of SSD, and a lovely NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU to top it all off.

With free shipping, Newegg’s price match guarantee, and the option to get an extra 11% off with a simple promo code you can find on the retail page, this is a pretty fantastic deal for the price of $1,429.99.

Lenovo Legion Tower 5 | 3 months of Xbox GamePass | $989.99 $729.99 at Best Buy

This is a great entry-level offer from Best Buy on a Lenovo Legion Tower 5 build. For $729.99 you get: An AMD Ryzen 5-5800G CPU, an AMD Radeon RX 6500XT, 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. RAM aside, this is a fairly capable build that will be able to see you through some light-to-mid in-game settings. Plus, if you need to upgrade the RAM, Black Friday RAM deals are on-going.

As I mentioned yesterday – I’m a fan of freebies with my deals. I’m happy to report that with this offer you get 3 months of Xbox GamePass thrown in, which, again, is a perfect bonus for a first-time gaming PC buyer. Don’t worry about building up your Steam library after splashing out on the hardware, let GamePass and its stellar library see you through for a few months.

UK: Lenovo Legion T5 | £1,659.99 £1,569.99 at Box

Alienware Aurora R13 | $1979.99 $1,499.99 at Dell

Good morning! Welcome back to our live coverage of 2022’s Black Friday gaming PC deals. We’ll kick things back off the way we got the ball rolling yesterday. The Alienware Aurora R13 is our current top pick for best gaming PC. In this deal from Dell (Alienware’s parent company) you get a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700F processor, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, 512GB of SSD storage, an AMD Radeon RX 6700XT GPU and a saving of $480 from its estimated value. Dell is also offering free shipping and one year of its Premium Support plan for the $1,499.99 purchase, so that’s worth noting.

If you’re looking for something more wallet-friendly, there’s also a second configuration on offer right now. In that version of the R13, Dell is offering a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12400F CPU, an AMD Radeon RX6500 XT GPU, 8GB of DDR5 RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage, all for the low, low price of $899.99. If you’re struggling to afford higher-end specs, this build in particular is a great way to start a long term investment on a PC you can upgrade later on.

It’s also worth stating, we’ve experienced a few technical blips in the last few days when we’ve tried to link to Dell’s storefronts. If links take you to an outlet or refurbished Dell product website, try to redirect yourself to the official Dell retail site in your region.

Skytech Gaming Archangel | Free Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection | $1,699.99 $1,269.99 at Amazon

One last deal before I down tools for the day, this time from Amazon. This PC has lots in the way of aesthetics with its icy-white chassis and RGB fans and lining. On the inside you get a Ryzen 5 5600X processor, an RTX 3060 Ti, 1TB of SSD storage, and 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. From the offers we’ve seen today, this isn’t the best of the best, but you do get a free game with your purchase, and some extra freebies are never a bad thing.

Along with your $1,269.99 purchase, you get Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, so whether you’re a transitioning PlayStation gamer or someone that’s never experienced a Nathan Drake adventure, this might be the deal for you.

And with that, our coverage for today is done. I’ll be maintaining this page throughout the week, so if you didn’t quite get the deal you wanted today, check back tomorrow. I’ll be picking things up from 10am GMT each day and bringing you the best Black Friday gaming PC deals and offers I can find.

Yeyian Katana X10 | Free shipping | Free Nvidia Game $1,399 $949 at Newegg

I told you I’d try to find viable gaming PCs under $1000, and I meant it. Even if you haven’t heard of Yeyian, you’ll have heard of the 11th Gen Intel Core i5 CPU that powers this build, and is one of the best all-rounders on the market. In this deal you get one of those, plus an RTX 3060 that’s more than capable of delivering lush environments and high frame rates. You also get 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and 500GB of SSD storage. All that can be yours for $949, plus you get Newegg’s free shipping and free Nvidia game offer thrown in.

Honestly, if I was looking for my first gaming PC, this is the sort of build I’d go for. It’s under $1000, and it’s respectable components are more than capable of delivering good-looking, silky smooth performance in some of my favourite games. What more can you ask for this Black Friday?

CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme | $1,449.99 $1,199.99 at Best Buy

We initially saw this deal last week, but since then it’s been reduced by another $100. So now, you’re getting even more bang for your buck. For only $1,199.99 you can have an AMD Ryzen 7 5700 CPU, 16GB of RAM, 1TB of SSD, and an RTX 3070. Yes – you read that correctly. This build has an RTX 3070 GPU, and it’s under $1,300.

With a price drop since we found it last week, it might even drop again before Friday, but if you’re at all worried about stock, now might be the time to jump on this deal.

Seagate FireCuda 530 2TB | $459.99 $249.99 at Best Buy

Right, so it isn’t exactly a gaming PC, but if you’re looking for a way to upgrade your SSD like I suggested with the HP Omen 25L deal, this is definitely a way to do that. The Seagate FireCuda 530 is one of the best, and most popular SSDs on the market. Although the 1TB version is cheaper, it’s harder to get a hold of. This deal from Best Buy gets you 2TB for only $249.99. It’s also a PS5 ready drive, if that interests you at all.

UK: £165 £139 at Currys

MSI Aegis R | Free Shipping | Free Nvidia Game | $1,899 $1,199 at Newegg

Another amazing Black Friday gaming PC deal here – and it’s only Monday. For only $1,199 (and at a $700 reduction, our biggest discount thus far), you get an Intel Core i7 12th gen processor, an RTX 3070 GPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage.

As if the build wasn’t strong enough on its own, Newegg is also offering free shipping, a price match guarantee, and a free Nvidia game with your purchase. You have to love extra freebies, especially when you’re splashing out on an expensive piece of tech that you’ve likely worked hard to save for.

We don’t have a lot of price data for each of these particular builds, especially since many of them differ slightly with the retailers. For what it’s worth though, Newegg is saying this is its lowest price for 30 days.

HP Omen 25L | £1,399.97 £999.97 at Box

That last deal didn’t have a UK equivalent, but this one is fairly close. In this offer from Box you can get an HP Omen 25L for only £999.97. Under the hood is a Ryzen 7 3700X Processor, an RTX 3060 Ti, and 16GB of HyperX FURY DDR4 RAM. The storage is the only thing potentially letting this build down, since it only has 256 GB of WD Black SSD and 2TB of HDD. However, given that SSDs are reaching historically low prices this Black Friday season, you could always spend a little more to upgrade it separately.

Regardless, this is a solid build for the money, especially since you’re getting a capable RTX 30 series GPU built-in for under a grand.

iBUYPOWER Trace MR258i | $1,299 $1,099 at Best Buy

Alright, here’s one that’s a little more budget-friendly. I say a little, because it’s still just over $1,000. As I’m sure many of you are aware, it’s very hard to get a gaming PC that can keep up with the latest games and technology demands without spending more than $1000 – but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try to find that for you. Times are hard, after all.

Either way, this deal from Walmart gets you an iBUYPOWER gaming PC for $1,099. If you haven’t heard of iBUYPOWER, we’d argue it’s one of the most reliable budget brands out there. Inside you’ll get a Ryzen 7 5700 processor, an RTX 3060 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. In terms of power-per-dollars spent, this is a pretty great deal.

If I find something better under $1000, I’ll be giving you an update ASAP.

Alienware Aurora R13 | $2,599.99 $2,199.99 at Best Buy

We’ll kick things off with our personal favorite – here’s the Alienware Aurora R13 on offer at Best Buy. There are two configurations listed on the store page; one costing $2,199.99 (saving you $400) which gives you an RTX 3080, Intel Core i7 CPU, 1TB of SSD, and 16GB of RAM.

Alternatively, if you’re willing to compromise on some higher-end specs in order to spend a little less, you can go with the configuration priced at $1,749.99 (saving you $250). This build gets you an RTX 3070, with the other specs virtually the same.

This is one of the best and most sought-after gaming PCs on the market right now, so we’d expect there will be plenty of discounts going this week. If I see any cheaper prices, I’ll be sure to give you an update. Either way, there’s no better way to start than by giving you a frame of reference for how much a top-tier PC will set you back this Black Friday.
UK: £2,049 £1,649 at Amazon

Steam Black Friday Discounts Begin Today In Autumn Sale

The Steam Autumn Sale returns today, November 22, and brings with it early Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals that see the likes of Cyberpunk 2077, Stray, and more discounted.

Kicking off at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6PM UK (so 4am on November 23 AEST), the sale will run for exactly one week and end on November 29.

Valve’s announcement trailer features its usual long list of heavily discounted games, spanning a library of new and old hits, major publishers, and smaller indie projects. Alongside Cyberpunk 2077 and Stray, Hitman 3, Hades, V Rising, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Slime Rancher 2, and Satisfactory were also shown off to tease the sale.

New Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Screenshots

IGN has reviewed several of these games, saying of CD Projekt Red’s latest that “Cyberpunk 2077 throws you into a beautiful, dense cityscape and offers a staggering amount of flexibility in how you choose to take it from there.”

We called Stray “a delightful cat-based platforming adventure in a cyberpunk world worth exploring,” and said Hades is “a one-of-a-kind rogue-lite that does a brilliant job of marrying its fast-paced action with its persistent, progressing story through a vividly reimagined Greek mythological underworld.”

To take these games on the go, Valve’s portable PC gaming platform the Steam Deck seems to have eliminated its lengthy waiting list, meaning a reservation is no longer needed. Just make sure the games you pick up are on the Steam Deck Verified Games list if you want optimum performance.

PlayStation Black Friday 2022 sale discounts PS Plus, Extra, Premium by 25%

Sony has launched its PlayStation Black Friday deals, and the headline saving is 25% off 12-month subscriptions to PlayStation Plus, across all three of its tiers.

  • PlayStation Plus Essential, which unlocks online multiplayer and provides a few free games each month, is discounted to $44.99 from $59.99 for the year.
  • PlayStation Plus Extra, which grants access to a large Game Catalog of PS4 and PS5 games, costs $74.99 (discounted from $99.99) for a 12-month subscription.
  • PlayStation Plus Premium, which adds cloud streaming (including a catalog of PS3 games), a small number of classic PlayStation games from earlier eras, and trials of new releases, costs $89.99 for 12 months, down from $119.99.

Sony said the plans could be stacked, so players can buy several years’ worth of Plus at the discounted prices if they want to.

Among the other savings on the PlayStation Store, there were deep discounts to a few high-profile games (note that you need to be logged in to see the discounts):

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony detailed further savings available, including $25 off DualSense PS5 controllers at participating retailers and direct from PlayStation, and discounts on merch at the PlayStation Gear Store.
