Wednesday Addams Live-Action Series From Tim Burton Ordered By Netflix – Deadline

It’s official: Netflix has landed Tim Burton’s live-action Addams Family series with an eight-episode order for a spinoff focused on the iconic character of Wednesday Addams.

Titled Wednesday, the coming-of-age comedy, written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar and to be directed by Burton, is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. That’s where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.

The YA series, Wednesday Addams’ first solo vehicle, marks Burton’s first live-action show and his TV directing debut. He and Gough and Millar, who will serve as showrunners on the series, executive produce. Wednesday is produced by MGM/UA Television, which controls the underlying rights to the IP.

As Deadline first reported in October, MGM/UA TV took the project out last fall with Gough & Millar attached and Burton in negotiations, getting multiple bids with Netflix considered the likely winner. Wednesday marks a familiar territory for Millar and Gough, who successfully explored the coming-of-age story of another iconic character, Superman, with the hit series Smallville.

“When we first heard Al Gough and Miles Millar’s pitch for Wednesday we were struck, like an arrow from a crossbow, right in our hearts. They nailed the tone, the spirit and the characters, but gave us a fresh way into this story,” said Teddy Biaselli, Netflix’s Director Original Series, calling Wednesday “the ultimate lone wolf” character. “We then got the call that visionary director and lifelong Addams Family fan Tim Burton wanted to make his television directorial debut with this series. Tim has had a history of telling empowering stories about social outsiders like Edward Scissorhands, Lydia Deitz and Batman. And now he brings his unique vision to Wednesday and her spooky classmates at Nevermore Academy.”

Also executive producing the series are TV writer-producer Kayla Alpert (Code Black, Up All Night) as well as several producers associated with the Addams Family IP: Andrew Mittman for 1.21 (The Addams Family, Alphas), Kevin Miserocchi (Tee and Charles Addams Foundation), Jonathan Glickman for Glickmania (Respect, Addams Family 2) and Gail Berman (The Addams Family, Alphas).

The tale of The Addams Family, a fictional household created by American cartoonist Charles Addams in 1938, has had a number of screen iterations over the years including two live-action TV series; a live-action film franchise, and most recently an animated movie from MGM with the sequel dropping in 2021.

Christina Ricci, the actress most closely associated the character, played Wednesday in both feature films, The Addams Family in 1991 and sequel Addams Family Values in 1993.

Wednesday Addams was played by Lisa Loring in the original series. In the first animated series she was voiced by Cindy Henderson, and by Debi Derryberry in the second animated series, both from Hanna-Barbera. Wednesday is portrayed by Nicole Fugere in the straight-to-video movie Addams Family Reunion and then-Fox Family Channel’s television series The New Addams Family, which were both produced in 1998.

The Addams Family: A New Musical debuted on Broadway in April 2010 with Krysta Rodriguez as Wednesday. Most recently, Chloë Grace Moretz voiced Wednesday in MGM’s 2019 animated movie The Addams Family.

Burton previously developed and executive produced the animated series Beetlejuice, loosely based on his 1988 movie, which ran for four seasons from 1989-91.

Simone Ashley Lands Female Lead In Season 2 Of Smash Hit For Netflix & Shondaland – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Bridgerton has found its Kate. Simone Ashley (Sex Education, Because the Night) has been tapped as the female lead opposite Jonathan Bailey in Season 2 of Netflix and Shondaland’s hugely popular Regency-era period drama series based on Julia Quinn’s romance novels.

Netflix

The second season will chronicle the pursuit of a suitable marriage for the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony (Bailey), as chronicled in the second book of Quinn’s Bridgerton series, The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Ashley will play Anthony’s romantic interestKate Sharma. Newly arrived in London, Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools — Anthony Bridgerton very much included.

In Season 2, Bridgerton continues to break conventions on race. Anthony’s love interest (named Kate Sheffield in Quinn’s novel) and her family were conceived by the series’ creative team as being of Indian descent in a continuation of the reimagined world created in Season 1, which included several major Black characters, including the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel).

‘Bridgerton’ Leapfrogs ‘Cobra Kai’ To Retake U.S. Streaming Lead; ‘Outside The Wire’ Joins Netflix Sweep Of Top 10

Netflix

As Season 2 leads, Bailey and Ahsley will succeed Page and Phoebe Dynevor, who became global stars as Simon and Daphne, the couple whose sweeping romance was at the center of Season 1. (Page is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend.)

Ashley is one of several cast additions for Season 2 of Bridgerton, which will start filming this spring in London.

“We have a bunch of new characters we are going to be introducing,” creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen said in announcing the Season 2 renewal on Today with Hoda & Jenna last month. “Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think it’s going to be as sweeping and moving and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show.”

Cancellations/Renewals Scorecard: TV Shows Ended Or Continuing In 2020-21 Season

The focal point of Season 2 was teased in the final minutes of the Season 1 finale when Anthony revealed to Daphne and Simon his plans of “finding and promptly declaring my intentions to my new viscountess” after the heartbreaking end of his relationship with opera singer Siena.

“We left him at the end of the first season at a bit of a crossroads, so I’m looking forward to jumping in and discovering how he fares on the marriage market,” Van Dusen said in the interview, noting that his hope is for Page and Dynevor to return.

With its vibrant mix of Jane Austen-meets-Gossip Girl and its contemporary storytelling redefining the period drama and romance genres, Bridgerton has captivated audiences around the world to shatter Netflix’s viewership records. It became the streamer’s biggest series ever as 82 million households globally watched the first season (partially or in its entirety) in the first four weeks.

The series also stars Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington, Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Ruby Barker (Marina Thompson), Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton), Ruby Stokes (Francesca Bridgerton), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton), Bessie Carter (Prudence Featherington), Harriet Cains (Philipa Featherington), Polly Walker (Lady Portia Featherington), Ben Miller (Lord Featherington), Sabrina Bartlett (Siena Rosso), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Kathryn Drysdale (Madame Genevieve Delacroix) and Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley).

Van Dusen executive produces with Shondaland’s Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers.

British actress Ashley was already on Netflix’s radar; she is probably best known for her role as Olivia Hanan on the streamer’s popular series Sex Education. She also had a major recurring role on Neil Cross’ 2020 ITV limited series The Sister. Her resume also includes an arc on Season 3 of Broadchurch. Ashley is repped by Gersh, Identity Agency Group in the UK and attorney Derek Kroeger at Myman Greenspan Fox.

Cleveland Cavaliers won’t play Andre Drummond, will try to trade star center before deadline

The Cleveland Cavaliers are no longer planning to play Andre Drummond as they work to trade the two-time All-Star center before the NBA’s March 25 deadline, sources told ESPN.

The Cavaliers are moving to make Jarrett Allen the franchise’s long-term starting center and believe it’s unfair to Drummond to limit his minutes as the organization transitions to Allen, sources said.

Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman discussed the move with Drummond and his agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports, and decided together that Drummond would remain with the team but would no longer be active for games, sources said.

Cleveland is starting to gauge the trade market, but there are no serious ongoing discussions with any team, sources told ESPN.

Drummond didn’t dress for the Cavaliers’ loss to the LA Clippers on Sunday night, and that’ll continue Monday against the Golden State Warriors and into the future. The Cavs said Drummond missed Sunday’s game for rest, and he came to the game wearing a sweatshirt with the word “farewell” on the front.

When reached on Monday morning, Schwartz wouldn’t confirm or deny the decision, but told ESPN: “Whichever direction this goes, Andre is 27, in his prime, and I believe strongly that he has a great deal to add to a team building toward a postseason run.”

Drummond is playing on a $28.7 million expiring contract, which does make matching up salaries in a trade something of a formidable challenge. He has averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds this season in 25 starts. There are a number of teams interested in the 7-footer, sources said.

The Cavaliers would need to take back $23 million in contracts to make a Drummond trade work.

There has been no discussion on a contract buyout that could allow Drummond to become a free agent, sources said.

Drummond’s future with the Cavs dimmed last month when Cleveland traded for the 22-year-old Allen, who became the franchise’s center of the future. Drummond will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, and Allen will be a restricted free agent.

Allen has played well in 15 games with the Cavs, averaging 13.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. Cleveland coach JB Bickerstaff recently moved Allen into the starting lineup.

A multigame experiment playing Drummond and Allen together was unsuccessful as the Cavs nosedived into a slump that includes their current seven-game losing streak. Kevin Love, who has been out since December with a calf injury, is expected to return this week and further tighten the Cavs’ frontcourt minutes.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks contributed to this report.

Hospital housekeepers play a crucial role alongside doctors and nurses in fighting COVID-19. These unsung front-line workers are also saving lives.

Des Moines Register

COVID-19 cases in the United States have been dropping since a peak several weeks ago. There were 83,321 reported new cases on Saturday – the first time since Nov. 2 the country had reported less than one new case every second.

And on Sunday, Johns Hopkins University data shows, the pace slowed even further, to 64,938 cases. Cases are generally reported at a slower rate on weekends, but the rate at which cases have been reported has dropped by more than half since last month’s peak.

However, the number of known coronavirus variant cases is surging. The vast majority are of the B.1.1.7 variant, which was first detected in the U.K. and has run rampant there. The CDC has said it may become the dominant strain in the U.S. by March.

U.K. government scientific advisers said Friday that the variant may be up to 70% more deadly than previous variants, underscoring concerns about how mutations may change the characteristics of the disease.

On Sunday, the U.S. reported 1,193 cases of coronavirus variants that can spread more easily, dodge some treatments and immunities, or both. It’s nearly 200 more cases than were reported Thursday night, and the number has nearly doubled since Feb. 4.

►In Texas, the cities of Houston and Austin canceled their health departments’ vaccine appointments on Monday and Tuesday because of severe winter weather wreaking havoc across the southern and central U.S. The Tennessee Department of Health also said some local health departments were canceling vaccine appointments.

►The IRS says it won’t push back the April 15 deadline this year to file taxes as it did last year during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

►Travelers arriving in Britain must quarantine in hotels starting Monday as the U.K. government aims to slow the spread of new coronavirus variants. The country reached the milestone of 15 million people, including people working in health care and those over 70, receiving their first vaccine dose, and is not expanding eligibility to people over 65 and those with underlying conditions.

►California on Sunday reported the lowest number of hospitalizations since Dec. 1, according to the California Department of Public Health. The state’s death toll, however, remains persistently high.

►Both New York’s daily and seven-day average case rates stayed below 4% on Sunday for the second day in a row, per Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office.

►Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi has extended coronavirus restrictions through mid-March in Hawaii’s most populous city but said that could change if confirmed cases remain low.

►New Zealand’s largest city went into lockdown for at least three days Sunday and police set up checkpoints at eight locations at Auckland’s border. The crackdown comes after three family members tested positive. The entire nation of about 5 million people has fewer than 50 known cases currently.

📈 Today’s numbers: The U.S. has more than 27.6 million confirmed coronavirus cases and 485,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University data. The global totals: More than 108.7 million cases and 2.4 million deaths. More than 70 million vaccine doses have been distributed in the U.S. and about 52.8 million have been administered, according to the CDC.

Epidemiologist: Many schools will be ‘challenged to open at all’

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday released long-awaited guidelines on how America’s public schools can reopen safely, but a leading infectious diseases epidemiologist says the spiking number of variant cases may mean that “a lot of schools are going to be challenged to open at all.”

Michael Osterholm, the head of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy and a Biden transition advisor on COVID-19, said the variant of the coronavirus from the United Kingdom may cause a surge in cases in the U.S. over the next 14 weeks that makes school reopenings challenging even with the new guidelines.

Osterholm said the challenge is not that schools can’t handle the requirements of the new guidelines but that cases in communities may rise too high for schools to remain open, as the CDC points out is a concern, he said. “The next 14 weeks I think will be the worst of the pandemic,” Osterholm added.

The Biden administration’s guidelines say schools should implement a host of safety guidelines, including mask wearing and maintaining 6 feet of physical distance between people when possible, but that vaccinating teachers is not a must for in-person instruction. Osterholm, speaking with “CBS This Morning” on Monday, praised the guidelines and said virus transmission in schools is generally low, especially among young students.

WHO finds signs of wider outbreak in Wuhan in December 2019, report says

The World Health Organization team of scientists investigating the origins of the coronavirus and COVID-19 pandemic in China has found signs that the original outbreak in Wuhan was wider than previously thought, the lead investigator told CNN.

Peter Ben Embarek, who led the WHO mission, told CNN that investigators had found several clues that point to a larger outbreak in the central Chinese city, including evidence of over a dozen strains of the virus already circulating in December 2019.

A preliminary report from Ben Embarek and a team of WHO scientists who recently concluded a trip to China is expected this week.

Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine effective in reducing symptomatic infection, Israeli study finds

An Israeli study of 1.2 million people found that Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine reduced symptomatic infections by 94% and cases of serious disease by 92%, one of the country’s largest health care providers said.

The study by Clalit looked at 600,000 people who were vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and 600,000 who were not immunized.

“The efficacy of the vaccine is preserved in every age group,” particularly a week after the second dose of the vaccine, researchers said, adding that the aim of the study was “emphasizing to the population that has yet to vaccinate that the vaccine is highly effective and prevents serious illness.”

Variant cases surge in US, including new reports in Maine, Illinois, Texas

COVID-19 variants continue to infiltrate the U.S.: The B.1.1.7 variant first seen in the United Kingdom has been reported for the first time in Maine, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C., while the B.1.351 variant first seen in South Africa has now been reported in Illinois, Texas and D.C.

The B.1.1.7 variant is spreading rapidly. Michigan had been reporting 29 cases since Feb. 4; on Sunday night, it reported another 32 cases, more than doubling its load. Florida also reported 32 new cases, bringing its total to 379, or about a third of the nation’s. California reported 27 new cases, bringing its total to 186. Colorado added 26 cases to reach 67; Massachusetts added 19 cases to nearly triple its reported tally, to 29. Texas added 14 cases to reach 49.

There are now 1,173 known cases of B.1.1.7, which the Centers for Disease Control had said could become the country’s predominate strain in March. The rapid spread of variants is happening even as all coronavirus case counts are being reported half as quickly as they were last month.

New Orleans gets tough with Mardi Gras celebrations

New Orleans is tamping down its annual Mardi Gras celebrations this week and health officials in other cities are warning would-be revelers to do the same amid a spike in coronavirus variant cases across the nation.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell ordered bars closed during the Mardi Gras weekend that started Friday and runs through Tuesday. Parades are canceled and there are limits on gatherings.

Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is the annual pre-Lenten bash celebrated along much of the Gulf Coast. Last year’s revelry is believed to have contributed to an early surge that made Louisiana a coronavirus hot spot.

New York Mag Writer Says Gina Carano’s Treatment Akin To Blacklist – Deadline

New York Magazine writer Jonathan Chait says Hollywood’s treatment of conservative actress Gina Carano is reminiscent of the Hollywood blacklist in the 1950s.

Chait’s Friday essay for the Intelligencer  argued there was no “principled distinction” between Carano’s recent termination from future episodes of The Mandalorian and her representation and the Hollywood blacklist against communists.

Carano was dropped by talent agency UTA this week after sharing a social media post comparing the current political climate to the Nazi era. Lucasfilms, which produces The Mandalorian, said it had no plans for her.

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Showrunner Marti Noxon Stands By Stars’ Accounts Of Abuse By Joss Whedon – Deadline

One of the highest profile Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer-producers, Marti Noxon, has spoken out in support of cast members Charisma Carpenter, Michelle Trachtenberg and Amber Benson who have accused series creator/executive producer Joss Whedon of abuse and creating a toxic work environment.

Noxon joined Buffy as co-producer at the start of Season 3 and rose through the ranks to executive producer/showrunner on the show’s final two seasons, Season 6 and 7. Carpenter was on the show for the first three seasons, Trachtenberg on Seasons 5-7 and Benson for Seasons 4-6.

“I would like to validate what the women of Buffy are saying and support them in telling their story. They deserve to be heard,” Noxon wrote on Twitter. I understand where Charisma, Amber, Michelle and all the women who have spoken out are coming from.”

Carpenter was the first to speak out on social media Wednesday, accusing Whedon of abusing his power “on numerous occasions”.

Trachtenberg alleged “not appropriate behavior” by the Buffy creator towards her when she was a teenager. She later added, “There was a rule. Saying. He’s not allowed in a room alone with Michelle again.” The remark implied that others knew of Whedon’s allegedly inappropriate interaction with the then minor and had set up safeguards to stop it.

In a tweet, Benson spoke of “a toxic environment” at Buffy, noting that “it starts at the top.”

The actresses have also received support from their former co-stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Eliza Dushku.

Noxon went on to create/showrun a number of series post-Buffy, including Sharp Objects, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce and Dietland.

CA To Allow Covid-19 Vaccinations For High-Risk People 16 And Up – Deadline

Amid the closure of the state’s biggest Covid-19 vaccination site over a precipitous drop in supply, California state health officials announced on Friday that the state would soon allow another 4-6 million residents to qualify for vaccination. There are currently 13 million people in the state who are eligible for vaccination.

Per a “provider bulletin” sent by the state sent to medical professionals on Friday:

“Beginning March 15, healthcare providers may use their clinical judgement to vaccinate individuals age 16-64 who are deemed to be at the very highest risk for morbidity and mortality from COVID-19 as a direct result of one or more of the following severe health conditions.”

Those conditions include:

California Governor Gavin Newsom Heckled By Protesters And Politicians Alike As State’s Covid-19 Mistakes Multiply

-Cancer, current with debilitated or immunocompromised state Chronic kidney disease, stage 4 or above
-Chronic pulmonary disease, oxygen dependent
-Down syndrome
-Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from solid organ transplant
-Pregnancy
-Sickle cell disease
-Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies (excludes hypertension)
-Severe obesity (Body Mass Index ≥ 40 kg/m2)
-Type 2 diabetes mellitus with hemoglobin A1c level greater than 7.5%

Or…

-If the individual is likely to develop severe life-threatening illness or death from COVID-19 infection
Acquiring COVID-19 will limit the individual’s ability to receive ongoing care or services vital to their well-being and survival

-If providing adequate and timely COVID care will be particularly challenging as a result of the individual’s disability

See the provider bulletin here.

The announcement comes on the same day operations at Dodger Stadium — the state’s largest vaccination site — was shuttered due to lack of vaccine. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said late Wednesday that the site had run out of vaccine because the city’s allocation dropped more than 80% week-over-week.

“This week we only received 16,000 new doses. That’s about the number of new doses we give out every single day,” he said. “That is down 90,000 from the week before. That is unacceptable.”

Meanwhile, according to the Fresno Bee, Fresno County’s allocation was doubled to 19,000 doses this week. Last week, the county got 8,000.

When Governor Gavin Newsom was questioned this week about whether the new Fresno operation would cannibalize vaccine from other sites in the area he replied, “Everything’s dynamic. It depends upon what the State of California gets. Again, the state doesn’t have doses of vaccines. the federal government distributes those vaccines through their networks.”

It’s a response the governor has given again and again, insisting that the state is not the middle man and that distribution happens directly from the federal government to providers, as with the seasonal flu vaccine. But what Gacetti is pointing out is that the state’s push to rapidly expand vaccination sites is drying up a pool of vaccines that are already in short supply.

Asked more specifically if the increasing prevalence of vaccination sites may have contributed to the dropoff in supply Garcetti observed, “It is a little bit of Hunger Games out there. We’re doing kind of an ‘all the above approach.’ I think part of this is we’ve gone to so many places without the supply matching that, that you’ve seen some of the core places…like ours and the county mega sites not have as much supply.”

When asked on Friday about concerns over vaccine supply vs. demand, administration officials said that the hope is that supplies increase by the time the eligibility pool and distribution network also increase. It’s not out of the question given that President Joe Biden this week announced a deal this week for 200 million more doses of vaccine.

The state is bringing on a third party entity to help centralize vaccine distribution. While that agreement hasn’t been revealed yet, Newsom has promised it is coming soon. On Friday, state health and human services director Dr. Mark Ghaly said that officials will announce the “next age phase” when that third party partner comes on.

As to when all Californians will be eligible for vaccination, a spring or early summer timeframe has been floated but, given the unknowns about vaccine supply, administration officials say timing for such eligibility is “really unclear right now.”

“They Can’t Cancel Us If We Don’t Let Them” – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Less than 24 hours after her explosive ouster from Star Wars series The Mandalorian for incendiary social media posts, Gina Carano has hit back at her detractors and revealed a new movie project she is making with conservative website The Daily Wire.

Carano told us today: “The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

Broadcast And Cable TV Heavyweights Slate Virtual Upfronts In Familiar May Slots, But Other Moves Show Ad Traditions In Flux – Update

Dank Farrik, as her Mandalorian character would say.

Carano will develop, produce, and star in the upcoming film, which The Daily Wire says it will release exclusively to its members as the company looks to bolster its entertainment division. Details are being kept under wraps but it will be produced as part of Daily Wire’s partnership with Bone Tomahawk producer Dallas Sonnier and his Bonfire Legend banner.

“We could not be more excited to be working with Gina Carano, an incredible talent dumped by Disney and Lucasfilm for offending the authoritarian Hollywood Left. This is what Daily Wire exists to do: provide an alternative not just for consumers, but for creators who refuse to bow to the mob,” said Daily Wire co-founder Shapiro.

“We’re eager to bring Gina’s talent to Americans who love her, and we’re just as eager to show Hollywood that if they want to keep cancelling those who think differently, they’ll just be helping us build the Xwing to take down their Death Star,” he added.

Carano’s controversial social media posts, described by Lucasfilm as “abhorrent”, saw her turfed from The Mandalorian by the studio and ditched by her agency UTA. The former MMA star and Deadpool actress played bounty hunter Cara Dune on the first two seasons of Lucasfilm and Disney+’s hit series.

The actress raised hell by sharing a TikTok post comparing the current divided political climate in the U.S. to Nazi Germany.

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views,” she wrote.

Another photo on Carano’s Instagram story featured a person with several masks covering their face and head with the caption: “Meanwhile in California.”

Both posts were scrubbed from the actress’s Instagram yesterday, but others picked it up and reposted. The actress has previously courted controversy for posts about election fraud and gender pronouns.

Last month, right wing site The Daily Wire released its first feature film, school shooter movie Run Hide Fight, produced by Dallas Sonnier under his Bonfire Legend banner. Daily Wire says the film drew more than 300,000 viewers during its three-hour live streamed premiere.

The new alliance with Carano raises the prospect of the Daily Wire’s film operation becoming a home for those going against the Hollywood grain in controversial ways. Not that Disney will be too worried about that, however.

Carano is represented by Scott Karp at The Syndicate.
