Brie Larson unsure how much longer she’ll be Captain Marvel

Since starring as the intergalactic superhero Captain Marvel in the MCU’s first film focused on a woman lead, Brie Larson has faced the constant ire of sexist Marvel fanboys and their twitchy Twitter fingers. Utilizing the classic online tool of misogyny, that specific group of fans has review-bombed Captain Marvel, gotten mad at her cheeky Instagram posts, and dissected her to a degree that reads as overly invested for people that hate her. That’s a lot for anyone to handle, and Larson seems to be well over the internet trolls as revealed in an interview at the D23 Expo this past weekend.

Speaking with Variety, the Room actor was asked how long she expected to play Captain Marvel.

“I don’t know,” said Larson. “Does anyone want me to do it again?” Shrugging after her answer, the interviewer tells Larson to not “be so modest” before she gives a more serious reply to his question.

“I don’t know. I really don’t have the answer to that,” continued Larson.

Those comments could easily be interpreted as Larson beholding to Marvel’s spoiler sniper in the sky, yet with the mountain of vitriol she’s faced for the role, it wouldn’t be unimaginable that Larson may not have any long-term future plans to continue the character. A few fans on Twitter seemed to view the interview in the latter interpretation, tweeting out shows of support to the actor and her role in the MCU.

“Hopefully a long time! I love her Captain Marvel,” wrote a commentator in response to the video. Another fan added, “I, for one, would love to see more of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. The film is a guilty pleasure of mine and I think Larson is a great fit for the role.”

Of course, we can expect to see her in the upcoming The Marvels, which has Larson teaming up with Teyonah Parris (WandaVision) and Ms. Marvel’s Iman Vellani in Nia DaCosta’s sequel to Captain Marvel. While at D23 Expo, Larson and crew revealed the first trailer of the space-focused film to the crowd in attendance, teasing us until The Marvels premieres next July.

Harrison Ford chokes up while talking about his last ‘Indiana Jones’ film at Disney D23 expo: ‘I’m very proud’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Harrison Ford choked up on Saturday while talking about the fifth “Indiana Jones” installment, which will be the 80-year-old actor’s last turn as the whip-cracking archeologist.

“Thank you for making these films such an incredible experience for all of us, giving the opportunity to us to make these films for you,” an emotional Ford said in a surprise appearance at Disney’s D23 expo in Anaheim, California.

As he stopped for a second to collect himself, a cheer of support rose from the crowd.

“I’m very proud to say that this one is fantastic,” he continued, adding that his co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who was on stage with him, “is one of the reasons.”

HARRISON FORD’S 80TH BIRTHDAY: A LOOK AT SOME OF HIS BEST ROLES

“‘Indiana Jones’ movies are about fantasy and mystery, but they’re also about heart,” he continued, choking up again for a moment. “We have a really human story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your a–.”

At the end of his speech he joked it would be his last time taking on the role. “This is it!” he kidded with the crowd. “I will not fall down for you again.”

“But thank you so much,” he added.

Ford suffered a shoulder injury last year while rehearsing a fight scene for the film but returned to the set within a few months to finish filming.

The actor previously hurt his back while shooting 1984’s “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.”

The star, who likes to do as many of his own stunts as possible, also hurt his leg during the production of 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and has injured himself off-camera during two plane small crashes while he was piloting the aircraft.

Waller-Bridge, 37, joked that “keeping up” with Ford on the set was “exhausting.”

The movie is the first time the legendary archeologist has returned to movie theaters since “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” in 2008.

Ford first donned his famous fedora in 1981’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” which was followed by “Temple of Doom” and 1989’s “Indiana’s Jones and the Last Crusade” in which Sean Connery’s played his father.

The latest installment, set to be released next June, doesn’t have an official title yet.

Steven Spielberg stepped away from the “Indiana Jones” director’s chair for the first time this round, allowing James Mangold (Ford v. Ferrari) to take the reins. Spielberg is a producer on the movie and John Williams returned to compose the score.

While little has been revealed about the movie’s plot, the D23 crowd got an exclusive look at a teaser trailer for the film.

It shows Jones still teaching, walking through a town in the desert and riding a horse through New York City, according to IGN.

Scenes from past movies are shown along with actor Mads Mikkelsen (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) dressed as a Nazi, Jones’ classic foe.

The cast also includes Antonio Banderas, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann and Toby Jones. It’s unconfirmed if actress Karen Allen, who played his first love in “Raiders” and married Jones at the end of the last movie, will be in the newest one.

Fox News’ Tyler McCarthy contributed to this report.

Indiana Jones 5 Trailer Brings the House Down at D23

At the D23 Expo on Saturday, director James Mangold was on hand to introduce the first footage from the upcoming fifth, still-untitled Indiana Jones adventure. The house went nuts. And for good reason – this “Indiana Jones 5” footage looks incredible.

“I saw ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ in high school and it’s one of the reasons I became a film director and one of my producers is Steven Spielberg who is one of my all-time favorite filmmakers,” Mangold, who took over directing duties on the film from Spielberg, said onstage.

“And Harrison Ford is one of my all-time favorite actors. And my composer is John Williams, one of the all-time great composers. It’s been an honor and a pleasure to collaborate with you on this. That reminds me of the other wonderful addition to this cast, which is the phenomenal Phoebe Waller-Bridge. I was surrounded by tremendous talent and support and goodwill and advice. I was living out a fantasy I had, wondering what it would feel like to make one of these pictures and honoring in my own mind what these movies are for you and for me, trying to bring that back for next year.”

The “Indiana Jones 5” trailer was wonderful, showing a bunch of great moments: Mads Mikkelsen as a Nazi, Indy riding a horse through the New York subway, a chase that takes place in a Manhattan tickertape parade, and Sallah (played, once again, by John Rhys-Davies). We also see Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character and the trailer ends with Indy getting his whip out and snapping it at a bunch of bad guys, who promptly get out a lot of guns. He ducks.

It looks like it really captures the spirit of the original three films, a spirit that was sadly missing during the most recent installment, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

After the trailer ran, a visibly emotional Ford took the stage. “Thank you for making these films such an incredible experience for all of us,” Ford said, his voice trembling. “I’m very proud to say this one is fantastic. And this is one of the reasons …” Ford pointed at Phoebe.

Ford continued: “Indiana Jones movies are about mystery and adventure but they’re also about heart. I’m really, really happy that we have a really human story to tell as well as a movie that will kick your ass. I’m delighted to be here again for maybe … No, not maybe. This is it. I will not fall down for you again. But thank you so much. Thank you to Mangold for picking up the pieces and making a spectacular, spectacular film.”

For her part, Waller-Bridge said, “I had the time of my life making this movie. I feel so incredibly lucky and keeping up with this guy is exhausting. These films mean a lot to me as well and Jim you have protected and brought back everything people want and need from these films. I cannot wait for you to see it!”

“Indiana Jones 5” opens in theaters on June 30, 2023.

Disney Reveals New Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Trailer At D23: ‘The King is Dead’

A new trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has revealed several new story details for the upcoming film.

Unveiled at D23 2022 – but not before the stage erupted into the Captain America musical number – the trailer opens with Angela Bassett’s character appearing at the UN. She’s asked about vibranium and how it can be used as a weapon for mass destruction, facing criticism for its threat to the global order.

The next scene shows soldier’s invading a Wakandan outreach centre and bend the soldiers to their will. Flashing back to the Queen, she calls the UN liars, and declares: The King is dead. The Black Panther is gone. They have lost the protector.” Back at the lab, Dora Milaje appear and fight the soldiers before appearing at the UN with them as prisoners.

The trailer then flashes through several scenes: Shuri in a funeral garb, a shot of Namor, the throne room on fire. The Queen can be seen talking to Namor who is later attacked by M’baku, though M’baku’s staff is broken as a result. Another quick shot shows Iron Heart very briefly before the new Black Panther hero – who remains a mystery – lands on a snowy field.

Director Ryan Coogler discussed Wakanda Forever after the trailer, paying respects to the late Chadwick Boseman alongside cast members Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta, and Bassett.

“It was just an amazing experience and we absolutely looking forward to bringing it to you,” Coogler said. “This is the calm before the amazing storm. Our heart Chadwick, he paved the way – he showed us the way – and we had to meet his level of excellence.”

Duke added that everything is bigger and everything is new in Wakanda Forever. “The tech is fun, the tech is different, the tech is nothing you’ve seen, it’s Wakanda.”

The sequel to the beloved Black Panther has been a long time coming; following the immense success of the original, Wakanda Forever’s production was initially shaken by the tragic death of star Chadwick Boseman. With the decision made to not continue with a CGI version of Boseman’s T’Challa, the film was reshaped to be respectful of Boseman but also find a new direction. But since starting filming, production has been hindered by COVID and delays. The set recently had to be closed due to an outbreak, and was previously halted due to an on-set injury suffered by star Letitia Wright.
