Courteney Cox still doesn’t remember ‘Friends’

Despite the 10 seasons she spent on the massively popular series, Cox has reminded the world that she doesn’t remember much about her time on the show.
She recently told “Sunday Today” that her lack of memory put her at a disadvantage for last year’s HBO Max “Friends” reunion (HBO Max is owned by CNN’s parent company).

“I should’ve watched all 10 seasons because when I did the reunion and was asked questions, I was like, ‘I don’t remember being there,'” Cox said. “I don’t remember filming so many episodes.”

She said she’ll sometimes catch episodes on TV and has no recollection. “But it’s so funny.”

Cox, who played Monica Geller on “Friends,” said her memory has always been bad.

“I don’t remember any trauma in my childhood,” she said. “But I have like three memories. I don’t know. I don’t know why.”

Though her lines on “Friends” aren’t imprinted in her memory, Cox said she understands why the series remains so popular despite going off the air in 2004.

“It doesn’t matter what generation is watching, it holds up,” she said. “I think the comedy is relevant.”

Courteney Cox reveals one shocking Scream murder was ‘scrapped’ by producers

Courteney Cox has spoken about a proposed Scream murder that almost changed the entire course of the franchise.

The actress, 57, told Pedestrian TV one of the 1996 horror hit’s stars was set to be killed off in the first movie – before they realised how popular the character would be.

‘There was a time, I think it was in the first Scream, where David’s character Dewey was gonna be killed off,’ explained the Friends star.

‘Then they saw how he came across and people loved him so they scrapped it,’ she added of David, who went on to star in the film’s four subsequent sequels.

After meeting on the set of the slasher classic, Courteney and David eventually married, before splitting after 14 years of marriage.

David recently recalled how late director Wes Craven, who died of a brain tumour in 2015, had a ‘real impact’ on his relationship with Courteney .

David, who stars as Dewey Riley, fell in love onscreen with Courteney, who took on the Gale Weathers role, thanks to Craven carving out a romance for the characters.

‘Wes had a real impact,’ he told PEOPLE. ‘[He was] like, “David, you know she likes you and you should really get your stuff together.” He gave me a real man-to-man talk and that had an impact on the course of my life.’

David and Courteney were married in 1999, nearly two years after the first Scream movie was released and welcomed a daughter, Coco, in 2004.

In October 2010, they announced their separation, and finalised their divorce in 2013. They’re excited to work together again on familiar roles with friends.

‘I was just really excited to play a character that was really, I guess, bitchy and over the top and yet grounded in some ways,’ Courteney said. ‘Because Monica’s so sweet.’

David remembered being excited to first meet Courteney decades ago when filming began.

‘I was a fan of hers,’ he admitted before adding of the rest of the cast, ‘everybody was really nice, so it was a great time.’

He first auditioned for the part of Billy Loomis, but felt better suited for Dewey, who would go on to be sheriff of Westboro, Calif. after Ghostface terrorized the community.

‘I was just really excited to play a character that was really, I guess, bitchy and over the top and yet grounded in some ways,’ Courteney said. ‘Because Monica’s so sweet’

‘I was like, I think I’d be better for Dewey. And I brought that up to Wes and he was like, “Whoa, that’s very interesting,”‘ David said. ‘And thank goodness he had an open mind about it. I love still playing this guy and fans still love him.’

Neve Campbell needed a little more reassurance to join the fifth film and told Entertainment Weekly in October that she was hesitant to work without the late director.

‘I genuinely was in two minds,’ she said. ‘The idea of making these films without Wes Craven seemed challenging to me. I loved the man very much.

‘But Matt (Bettinelli-Olpin) and Tyler (Gillett) wrote me a letter, speaking of their appreciation and great respect for Wes Craven, and speaking of the fact that the very reason that they are directors today was because of these movies and because of Wes, and that meant a great deal to me.’

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow spent July 4th together

On this episode, it’s the “One With the Fireworks.”

Courteney Cox celebrated the Fourth of July holiday with her “Friends” co-stars Lisa Kudrow, and Jennifer Aniston.

“Happy 4th! xoxo,” Cox, 57, wrote on Instagram along with a fresh snap of the legendary sitcom trio.

Fans promptly freaked out and the post already has more than 2.5 million “hearts” as of Monday morning.

The get together was reminiscent of the last time the sitcom co-stars hung out — but this time with the addition of Emmy- and Oscar-winning actress Laura Dern, 54, who is pictured in a second photo.

Courtney Cox and “Big Little Lies” star Laura Dern also celebrated the July 4th holiday together this year.

Earlier this year, the original six-some came together for an on-screen reunion hosted by James Corden, 42, on HBO Max.

Aniston, 52, Kudrow, 57, and Cox skyrocketed into the spotlight after the premiere of the “Friends” in 1994, becoming best pals on and off screen for all 10 seasons.

The cast of the classic sitcom actually has a history of documenting their mini off-screen reunions over the years on social media, sharing selfies to commemorate each one with their millions of Instagram followers.

Meanwhile, the much-buzzed-about HBO Max special was one of the only times the group of six were in the same room since the series finale. In the tell-all reunion, the cast sang with Lady Gaga, reunited with old guest stars, and gushed about Ross and Rachel’s feelings spilling out into real life.
