Montecito bookstore reveals it has only sold 30 copies of Prince Harry’s autobiography Spare

Prince Harry’s local bookstore has revealed that it has only sold around 30 copies of the royal’s controversial autobiography Spare.

The bombshell tome, which pocketed Harry, 38, a rumoured £16 million ($20 million) advance, has been selling well – becoming the fastest selling non-fiction book since records began, according to its publisher.

But the book has reportedly not been performing as well in Harry and Meghan’s, 41, upmarket California enclave of Montecito.

Owner of local book store the Tecolote Book Shop, Mary Sheldon, told the Guardian that she has only shifted some 30 copies of Spare since its release.

While Prince Harry (pictured in London in 2020) has shifted many copies of his controversial biography Spare, a local bookseller says they have only sold some 30 books

Describing Spare by saying ‘it’s a book’, Mary added that some further copies have been reserved by locals, who are planning to collect their copy in person.

She said of Prince Harry: ‘He took time to gather his thoughts and wanted to publish it, so I am here to sell it.’

The autobiography has sold 750,000 copies across all formats – print, audio and e-book – in the UK since its publication on January 10.

This makes it the biggest selling memoir ever for its first week of publication, according to publishers Transworld, the UK division of Penguin Random House.

Prince Harry’s scathing memoir Spare (pictured) has become the fastest-selling non-fiction book since records began

Official figures from Nielsen BookData showed the book, which was written by celebrity ghostwriter JR Moehringer, sold 467,183 print copies in its first week alone.

The data released by Nielsen shows the book has broken the previous record of 210,506 set by the first Pinch Of Nom cookbook – written by Kay Allinson – in 2019.

Despite the memoir being leaked in Spain ahead of the official publication date, Nielsen’s data suggest sales were not negatively affected.

Prince Harry made several claims about the royal family and revealed painfully personal anecdotes in his explosive memoir Spare, which was released on January 10.

Despite its massive global sales, the book has not been selling well locally, according to the owner of Tecolote Book Shop (pictured) in Montecito

The book covers every aspect of his life, charting the disconnect with his elder sibling – whom he calls ‘Willy’ – that started from the moment he was born, when Charles allegedly declared that his duty was done.

He accuses William, 40, of being immersed in his position as future heir to the throne, claims he ignored him when they were pupils at Eton College, and says he repeatedly put him in his place.

In one paragraph Harry, who is affectionately called ‘Harold’ by his family, describes himself as feeling like he was born to be the ‘spare kidney’ for his elder brother.

Harry also accuses his elder brother of being the aggressor during ‘Megxit’, claiming their relationship had become so strained and damaged that William would only ‘scowl’ at him.

In the book, Harry (pictured, right) details the fallout with his brother William (pictured, right), as well as describing rifts with other family members

He describes several particularly awkward meetings between himself, Meghan, William and Kate, saying his brother and sister-in-law appeared uncomfortable at being hugged by his future wife.

He also appears to accuse the Princess of Wales of over-reacting by demanding an apology from Meghan after she fell out with Kate over wedding plans.

Kate was apparently offended that Meghan attributed forgetfulness to ‘baby brain’ after the birth of Prince Louis.

Harry also reveals that the two couples even rowed over seating plans and whether William and Kate should be put together.

He says when William confronted Meghan and defended his wife, Meghan snapped back at the prince, ‘take your finger out of my face’. While Charles is spared more pain than many had expected, Harry paints him as an ineffectual father who wasn’t even able to hug him when telling him of his mother’s death in a car crash.

He says that when he confided in Charles about suffering panic attacks as a grown man, the prince looked at his plate sadly and said he had failed him.

However, in what are sure to be distressing passages for the King, Harry describes how when he returned to the UK to attend Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021, a clearly distressed Charles wailed at his warring sons not to make his ‘final years a misery’.

Bitcoin due new ‘big rally’ as RSI copies 2018 bear market recovery

Bitcoin (BTC) is in for a new “big rally” as market strength copies conditions from after the 2018 bear market.

According to the latest analysis, BTC/USD will continue to head higher “after some consolidation” thanks to key signals from its relative strength index (RSI).

Bitcoin prints never-before-seen bullish divergence

With the BTC price gains still coming, Bitcoin bulls are feeling increasingly confident despite widespread mistrust of the longevity of the current rally.

For popular trader Crypto Wolf, a key phenomenon now underway sets Bitcoin’s latest recovery apart from all others.

RSI, he noted on Jan. 18, had printed a long-awaited bullish divergence on weekly timeframes — something which has never happened before.

“BTC printed a rare weekly RSI bullish divergence. Never happened in BTC history, a once in a life opportunity,” he summarized on Jan. 21.

RSI is a fundamental gauge used by traders to determine whether an asset is overbought or oversold at a given price. The weekly print has been long in the making, with Cointelegraph reporting on its arrival in advance at the end of last year.

“Technicals were there, charts were screaming bottom but as usual majority was in full bear mode,” Wolf added.

Analyst: “Some consolidation” will precede upside

With that, Bitcoin is beginning to repeat the kind of renaissance last seen at the end of its previous bear market in early 2019.

Trader and analyst Trader Tardigrade, also known as Alan on social media, thus predicts that the good times will continue for a while to come.

“BTC has been repeating the pattern in RSI and Price Action to 2019 bottom,” he told followers last week.

“On daily chart, 1. RSI Strong uptrend to overbought zone 2. $BTC had a significant drop before that 3. Sudden buyers bought up $BTC. Big rally will be following after some consolidation.”

Daily RSI stood at near 87 at the time of writing, Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView showed.

This is its highest since January 2021, months before BTC/USD set new all-time highs of $58,000 in April and $69,000 in November.

Prince Harry’s ‘Spare’ sets record for first-day sales with 1.4 million copies sold amid royal fallout

Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir “Spare” has been flying off the shelves since its highly anticipated release.

First-day sales for the controversial book topped 1.4 million copies, according to publishing company Penguin Random House.

Harry’s book was penned to give readers an inside look into Harry’s personal life as he opened up about grieving his mother’s death in 1997 and his long-simmering resentment at the role of royal “spare,” overshadowed by the “heir” – older brother Prince William.

Sales for “Spare” include hardcover, audiobook and e-book editions sold worldwide, including in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

“The first full day of sales of ‘Spare’ represents the largest first-day sales total for any nonfiction book ever published by Penguin Random House, the world’s largest trade publisher,” the publisher shared in a statement to People.

The Duke of Sussex’s memoir is “the story of someone we may have thought we already knew, but now we can truly come to understand Prince Harry through his own words,” Gina Centrello, president and publisher of the Random House Group, said in a statement, according to The Associated Press.

The book’s global release date was Jan. 10 and is priced at $36 in the United States.

Since Harry and wife Meghan Markle announced they were taking “a step back” as senior members of the royal family, the pair have been releasing several public projects, while speaking out against the monarchy.

Like a dark cloud, the release of “Spare” has loomed over the king’s upcoming coronation in May. Harry’s father became king upon the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on Sept. 8. Britain’s longest-reigning monarch was 96.

Royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti told Fox News Digital that the royal family is said to be “quite angry” with Harry’s latest actions. He noted that King Charles’ response was clear when he recently altered proceedings in his coronation.

“Even if Harry and Meghan are invited, one would expect that they would find a polite way not to attend after all the trouble they have caused,” he said. “But one can never quite predict their behavior. … [The royals] have to act carefully. … By not reacting publicly, they are at least leaving open the possibility that things can calm down. This allows the possibility of conversations to take place in the future, which might allow some form of reconciliation.”

Fox News Digital’s Stephanie Nolasco and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Sonic Frontiers Has Sold 2.5 Million Copies

Sonic frontiers has sold more than 2.5 million copies since its launch on November 6.

An official tweet from Sega (below) revealed the 2.5 million figure, which presumably takes into account units sold globally across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC platforms where the title is available.

Sega unveiled the 2023 roadmap for Sonic Frontiers earlier in November, showing that the open world action game would receive three updates throughout the year. These will bring new challenge modes, a photo mode, a new playable character, and fresh story content to the fast-paced adventure title.

Sonic Frontiers’ launch didn’t go entirely without issues, however, as the game suffered from significant pop-in issues when it was released.

Regardless, the positive fan reaction to Sonic’s move to an open world format was enough to make the title a serious contender for the fan voted Player’s Voice category at The Game Awards 2022.

In our review, IGN gave the game a 7/10, stating that “Sonic Frontiers is a delightfully weird and experimental evolution of the Sonic games so many of us grew up with”.

Retailers are still selling physical copies of Overwatch even though it no longer exists

Overwatch players have taken to social media to ask why retailers still have Overwatch on sale when the game is no longer playable.

As u/raistwalls1 exemplifies on the Overwatch subreddit (thanks, TheGamer), retailers still have copies of Overwatch for both PS4 and Xbox One on sale – on this occasion, it’s priced at $34 – even though the game essentially no longer exists.

7 Biggest Changes Overwatch 2 Makes From The Original – NEW CHARACTERS, MAPS & MORE!

If you try to run a physical copy of Overwatch now, it’ll install the game but on launch it will transfer to Overwatch 2 which, crucially, is free to play.

As some commenters quite rightly point out, the legendary edition comes with 15 skins that, theoretically at least, transfer over to the sequel… and given the price of some of Blizzard’s premium skins, buying an old copy of Overwatch and getting skins that way may work out cheaper than buying them directly from the in-game store. As u/PsychoInHell points out, though, not everyone got to keep their legendary skins in the merge of Overwatch 1 and 2.

Others made comparisons to Bungie’s sci-fi shooter Destiny 2, which also started life as a physical premium game before switching to a free-to-play model.

“I miss Overwatch 1,” said one wistful commenter.

As planned, Blizzard shut down Overwatch 1’s servers on 4th October. You can watch the moment Overwatch went offine for good below as reported by Matt earlier this month, as well as the many ways players said goodbye in their own way.

“As things stand today, Overwatch 2 feels like yet another service game where unlocks lead off into perpetuity, purely because money has to be made,” Edwin said in Eurogamer’s Overwatch 2 review. “It’s got its eyes on the horizon, and the same old spring in its step, but I’m not sure it has anywhere to go.”

PSA: It Looks Like Copies Of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Are Out In The Wild

Image: Nintendo / Monolith Soft

Uh oh, it’s happened. Reports are surfacing online that some people have managed to get their hands on copies of Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Photos of copies of the game have been shared on ResetEra by user ImBald, though many have since been taken down. So, if you don’t want any spoilers on Monolith Soft’s upcoming game, then be vigilant.

Users on ResetEra and Twitter have also spotted listings for early copies of the game on eBay, with some going for around $100 just to get the game a few days early.

Videos are starting to appear on the Chinese video-sharing site Bilibili, and over on the Xenoblade_Chronicles subreddit, user Koishi_514 also shared a photo they found of a copy of the game.

Well, it looks like we’ll need to dodge spoilers. It’s a shame we don’t have the Monado so we can look into the future and spot them before they come online — without the spoilery bits, of course. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a pretty story-heavy game, and the thought of seeing any of the game’s potential major reveals over a week before release is frightening!

We hope you keep safe and spoiler-free, Xenoblade fans! If you haven’t already, you can pre-order a copy for yourself here.
