CNN’s Don Lemon Slams Prince Harry for Detailing Argument With Prince

What happens in the family, stays in the family—at least Don Lemon thinks so.

The CNN This Morning anchor gave his two cents on Prince Harry‘s allegation—which he details in his upcoming memoir, Spare—that Prince William engaged in a physical altercation with him, calling it “gauche” to make the accusation public.

“Everyone has a family,” Don said Jan. 5. “I have arguments in my family. Am I going to put that out there for the whole world to see? I just don’t understand why on earth he would want to put that out there. I know he’s selling a book, but, to me, it’s just not done.”

“What could be achieved?” Don asked. “What exactly is he achieving by airing family dirty laundry? That’s the question.”

In Spare, Harry recalled the moment where tensions with William reached a fever pitch over his relationship with Meghan Markle, according to the Spanish language version of his book, obtained by NBC News.

CNN’s Andy Cohen And Anderson Cooper Don’t Drink Alcohol, But Find A Workaround – Deadline

“They brought us back for another year,” Andy Cohen crowed at the beginning of CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage from Times Square. But “there’s some stipulations this year, some fine print.”

Cohen and Cooper were famous for drinking liberally during their previous stints covering the traditional Times Square countdown. Cohen in particular became notorious for his alcohol-fueled diatribes, which last year took down New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and TV personality Ryan Seacrest. As a result, CNN ruled that drinking was out on this year’s live broadcast.

The drinking ban was addressed at the top.

“We can’t drink,” said Cohen, emphasizing that with a slight jump. “But that’s fine.” Cooper asked if Cohen would be “able to make it” through the broadcast. His partner quipped, “Do I have a pocket of edibles? I don’t know. This is a long night. This is a telethon with no disease.”

Still, the duo promised to soldier on, and they found a workaround – they will still toast their audience at the top of the hour, but it will be without alcohol.

What the duo promised was a “mystery shot.” Covering their eyes, the audience gets to see what they are drinking and toast with them. The first shot was “pickle juice,” which caused both to swallow hard.

Cohen guessed the juice was tomato juice, which he confessed he hates. Cooper claimed he never had a pickle.

Both hosts chased the mystery shot with juice boxes. “I prefer tequila,” Cohen said.

There are four more mystery shots pending for the night.

CNN’s Jim Sciutto off air after suffering ‘serious fall’: report

Longtime CNN anchor Jim Sciutto will not appear on his weekly morning show for some time after he was reportedly ordered to take a “personal leave.”

A media source told the Daily Mail Sciutto would be taking time off from the network after the anchor did not appear on the Tuesday or Wednesday episodes of “CNN Newsroom.” Sciutto’s most recent article was published Monday.

Last month, The Daily Beast’s Confider reported that Sciutto was the subject of a CNN internal investigation earlier this year after he took a “serious fall” in Amsterdam.

Sciutto had been returning home from a reporting trip to Ukraine to cover Russia’s invasion when the incident occurred, according to the September exclusive report.

“Despite colleagues taking direct flights home from Poland, Sciutto and his producer made a stopover in the Dutch capital where the accident occurred. We hear Sciutto has since recovered from the incident but has been directed by CNN to address a ‘personal situation,’” Confider said.

Sciutto traveled to Ukraine in February, March and April of this year.

On May 1, Sciutto posted a photo of Poland, where CNN correspondents were being flown out from after covering the war.

CNN has been suffering a tumultuous year. Chris Cuomo was fired from the network for allegedly aiding his brother, disgraced Gov. Andrew Cuomo, with his scandals. Jeff Zucker resigned a CNN’s president just a few weeks later after carrying on an affair with an executive.

On Monday, former president Donald Trump filed a $475 million lawsuit against the media company after claiming that the network had carried out a “campaign of libel and slander” against him.

CNN’s Dana Bash calls abortion a ‘lifeline’ for some Democrats in midterm elections

CNN host Dana Bash called abortion a “lifeline” for Democrats, in some areas of the country.

Bash was remarking on how Democrats were using the highly polarizing issue to motivate liberal and independent voters in the upcoming election, since the Supreme Court overturned the landmark federal abortion law, Roe v. Wade.

“It depends on where you go, but it is obviously a – forgive me – a lifeline for some Democrats in tough areas, that they didn’t expect before Roe was overturned,” Bash said.

CNN’s Dana Bash touted Democrats using the end of Roe to their advantage.

CNN’S DANA BASH DEFENDS BIDEN’S ‘SEMI-FASCISM’ JAB ABOUT GOP: HE WAS ONLY TALKING ABOUT ‘TRUMP SUPPORTERS’

Bash found the focus on abortion was working in some races in swing districts by appealing to voters who might not have been single-issue voters before the Court’s Dobbs decision.

However, she revealed that the economy still prevailed as the top concern for those voters she spoke with.

“My anecdotal experience, and it’s really anecdotal, Poppy, there, is that voters I found who were kind of in the swing areas were, when I just asked open-ended questions were much more focused on economic issues rather than abortion,” she said.

Bash added that wasn’t the case in states like Ohio and Michigan. The CNN host warned even Republicans she spoke to were concerned about GOP candidates who were too “extreme” on abortion.

In July, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer vetoed $20 million in anti-abortion line items in the state’s budget meant to support expecting mothers and adoption campaigns.

DEMOCRATS CONTINUE TO MAKE ABORTION CAMPAIGN ISSUE, BUT MOST STILL WON’T SAY IF THEY SUPPORT ANY RESTRICTIONS

A Detroit News/WDIV poll in September found abortion ranked as the most important issue to registered Michigan voters.

Democrats have spent $124 million on political ads mentioning abortion, which is nearly “20 times more spending on the issue than the party did during the 2018 cycle,” according to an AP analysis.

CNN’s Brian Stelter says Hunter Biden scandal ‘not just a right-wing media story,’ may prevent Biden 2024 run

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

During a segment on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” Sunday, host Brian Stelter discussed Hunter Biden being under federal investigation with his guest Michael LaRosa, the former press secretary for First Lady Jill Biden.

The conversation was sparked when Stelter cited a New York Times column by Maureen Dowd urging the president not to run for re-election. He then brought up the Department of Justice looking into Hunter’s alleged tax violations and business dealings.

“What about his son?” asked Stelter. “What about Hunter? Hunter under federal investigation, charges can be coming at any time, this is not just a right-wing media story. This is a real problem for the Bidens.”

“Could he decide not to run for re-election given his son?” Stelter asked.

“Look, they make decisions as a family and they will make that decision when it’s time,” responded LaRosa.

“Do you think they’ve talked about it yet?” Stelter asked.

“No. The president’s doing his job, he’s doing his work. He’s not focused on that,” LaRosa responded.

Stelter asked if “the press is getting ahead of the family on that.”

“Way ahead, way ahead,” LaRosa responded, before reiterating that the president “intends to run” and urging the press to focus on his “substantive wins” in the past week.

In the lead up to the 2020 election, Hunter Biden’s laptop story was falsely declared Russian disinformation by dozens of former intelligence officials. Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms suppressed the story by preventing people from sharing the link to the New York Post article reporting on the subject.

CNN’s ‘Juneteenth: A Global Celebration of Freedom’ kicks off with Chaka Khan, Ne-Yo and Mickey Guyton

The concert celebrates Juneteenth, the holiday that marks the end of slavery in the US. From icons like Earth Wind & Fire to R&B stars like Khalid, Black artists across genres are taking the stage this Juneteenth, the second year it’s been observed as a federal holiday.

Gospel star Yolanda Adams opened the show with a rousing performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” a historical rallying cry that’s also considered the Black National Anthem. A beaming Chaka Khan, backed by the Roots, followed with her hits “Ain’t Nobody” and “I’m Every Woman,” dedicating the latter song to the “powerful women” in the audience at the Hollywood Bowl.

Bell Biv Devoe hit the stage, dressed in stylish tracksuits, and got nearly every member of the audience dancing. Backstage, presenters Leslie Jones and Amanda Seales bopped along with the audience to the group’s hit, “Poison.”

Ne-Yo followed the ’90s trio with a high-energy performance of “Give Me Everything” and got the audience singing along with him.

And yes, that was Beyoncé making a vocal cameo in a prerecorded segment on Opal Lee, the 95-year-old activist who worked to make Juneteenth a federal holiday. (More on Lee below.)

Mickey Guyton and more deliver powerful messages

Country phenom Mickey Guyton covered Marvin Gaye’s protest anthem “What’s Going On” and sang her original, Grammy-nominated single, “Black Like Me.” Poet Amir Sulaiman performed a powerful piece with a message to viewers: “You will be someone’s ancestor. Act accordingly.”

The entire creative team behind the concert is Black, CNN’s Sara Sidner reported ahead of the show, including creator Shawn Gee of Live Nation Urban and Jesse Collins Entertainment. The night also marks the first time an all-Black orchestra, Re-Collective Orchestra, will play the Hollywood Bowl, Sidner said.

The Re-Collective Orchestra performed with members of the Debbie Allen Dance Company, who performed a vibrant dance piece (and were introduced by Allen herself).

President Joe Biden and more deliver impactful messages

Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021, but many Black Americans have honored the date for years with parades, parties and family gatherings. The holiday is also an opportunity to reflect on the persisting systemic inequalities that Black Americans face.

President Joe Biden addressed that duality in a recorded message, recommending that Americans celebrate the date and remember the horrors of slavery.

“It’s time to celebrate, time to educate and time to act,” Biden said.

Vice President Kamala Harris also appeared in a recorded message celebrating the holiday, as did former first lady Michelle Obama, who called on viewers to vote.

Jill Scott delivered a spoken word piece entitled “Agitation: Definition #3” on an empty stage, speaking to the pain of watching systemic changes fail to pass. She ended the piece by wordlessly throwing up her arms.

The event honored the ‘grandmother of Juneteenth’

In a pre-show special, 95-year-old Lee told CNN’s Don Lemon that she was “pinching [herself]” at the fact that her life’s work of making Juneteenth a federal holiday had succeeded.
Earlier this Juneteenth, Lee, considered the “grandmother of Juneeteenth,” walked 2.5 miles to symbolize the two-and-a-half years that the enslaved African Americans of Galveston, Texas, lived in slavery after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.

Lee said Americans should spend the holiday celebrating, learning and continuing to advocate for change.

“I advocate that we celebrate from the 19th of June to the 4th of July,” she said. “That would be celebrating freedom.”

CNN’s Anderson Cooper uncomfortable as Andy Cohen savages Bill de Blasio to welcome in 2022

CNN’s New Year celebrations took an awkward turn after talk show host Andy Cohen began voicing his opinion on former New York mayor Bill de Blasio.

This year, shortly after the Times Square ball dropped at midnight on Saturday, Eric Adams was sworn in as New York City mayor, replacing de Blasio after two tumultuous terms.

De Blasio has faced heavy criticism from both sides of the aisle on a multitude of issues, including over the rise in violent crime and stringent COVID-19 policies under his City Hall. A seemingly inebriated Cohen was among those gleeful to see His Honor exit office, mocking him for “his victory lap dance after four years of the crappiest term as the mayor of New York.”

WSJ EDITORIAL CHEERS DE BLASIO EXIT FROM OFFICE: ‘EIGHT YEARS OF PROGRESSICE FAILURE’

“The only thing that Democrats and Republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been. So sayonara sucker! 2022! It’s a new year, because guess what? I have a feeling I’m going to be standing right here next year, and you know who I’m not going to be looking at, dancing as the city comes apart? You!” Cohen rambled.

CNN anchor and co-host Anderson Cooper appeared alternately amused and uncomfortable as he attempted several times to stop Cohen from going off.

“Don’t go on a rant!” Cooper said. “Is this how you want to start the new year?”

De Blasio and his wife, Chirlane McCray, drew derision last year as well after they danced onstage in a mostly empty Times Square. Various people criticized the image since most of the city was told to stay inside and socially distance instead of attending the annual Times Square event.

Cohen had a similar outburst at the time, shouting “Do something with this city! Honestly, get it together!”

Cohen alluded to his comments on Saturday, tweeting “good morning! Um, I was a bit overserved last night…”

De Blasio also faced a scathing critique from the Wall Street Journal this week as the editorial board listed his leaving office as a reason to celebrate the new year.

“Everything in the city is worse than Mr. de Blasio found it,” the board wrote.
