Pamela Anderson channels ‘Baywatch’ character at Netflix documentary premiere
Featuring the good, the bad and the ugly, ‘Look of the Week’ is a regular series dedicated to unpacking the most talked about outfit of the last seven days.
Pamela Anderson made her name in red. In fact, the swimwear she and her “Baywatch” co-stars wore in the 1990s is so iconic that Pantone has since officially named the tone “Baywatch Red.”
So there was, perhaps, no better color the 55-year-old star could have worn to the premiere of Netflix’s new documentary about her life, “Pamela, a Love Story.”
Channeling her breakout character C.J. Parker, Anderson arrived at the streaming giant’s Tudum Theater in Los Angeles wearing a scoop neck dress by Indian American designer Naeem Khan. The figure-hugging gown may not have been the precise shade that Pantone immortalized to mark the series’ 30th anniversary in 2019, but it nonetheless evoked images of Parker patrolling LA’s sunny beaches — often in slow motion — in a one-piece swimsuit during her five seasons on the show.

Social media users appeared to appreciate the throwback. Responding to Khan’s eponymous label’s Instagram post, Victoria’s Secret model Tika Camaj described Anderson’s premiere appearance as an “iconic moment.”
Anderson’s stylist, Rebecca Ramsey, meanwhile wrote on Instagram after the premiere: “She invented red.”
Part of Khan’s Resort 2023 collection, the beaded gown retails for just under $6,000 — making it more expensive than the original show-worn “Baywatch” swimsuit that sold (alongside a buoy and a signed photo) for $4,920 at a California auction in 2014.
Anderson completed the look with drop earrings and a pair of red satin sandals designed by someone with a similarly strong claim to the color red: Christian Louboutin.

The actor was joined at the Monday event by her sons Dylan and Brandon Lee, the latter having co-produced the Netflix documentary. Speaking to Access Hollywood on the pink carpet, Anderson said her children had kept her informed of her ongoing status as a style icon, decades after she emerged as the archetypical blonde bombshell.
“(My sons) would say, ‘People love the whole ’90s look, and people (wear red swimsuits as) Halloween costumes,'” Anderson said. “And I’d be like ‘No, this is crazy! It’s fun, it’s really nice, it’s flattering. It feels full circle. We were just having a good time back then. It was never a curated experience.”
Now streaming on Netflix, “Pamela, a Love Story” charts Anderson’s struggles with her pervasive sex symbol status, as well as her tumultuous relationship with Tommy Lee and their infamous stolen sex tape. Released alongside a new memoir, the documentary sees Anderson attempt, as she puts it, to “take control of the narrative for the first time.”

College football schedule, games 2022: What to watch in Week 8, TV channels, Saturday kickoff times
Conference landscapes will be shifting again on Saturday as the Week 8 college football schedule brings us some intriguing matchups from around the country. Passing the midway point in the season, all eyes are on conference title races and the sprint toward the College Football Playoff, and the picture will become a little clearer this weekend.
No. 7 Ole Miss will travel one state west to take on LSU in the SEC on CBS Game of the Week in what has become one of the biggest SEC West games of the year. The Rebels are all alone atop the division standings and have legitimate national title aspirations, but will have to survive the perils of Death Valley — a place where, as Les Miles succinctly stated, “opponents’ dreams come to die.”
Elsewhere, No. 14 Syracuse will head to upstate South Carolina to take on No. 5 Clemson in a battle of undefeated ACC Atlantic foes. It will be another chance for the Orange to establish themselves as a threat, and the Tigers could use a win over a ranked team to boost their resume.

The best games
Iowa at No. 2 Ohio State — noon on Fox, fuboTV (Try for free): The Buckeyes had two weeks to prepare for an Iowa defense that is the only defense in the country that hasn’t given up a play of 40 or more yards all season. Styles make fights, though. If the Buckeyes offense continues to crank on all cylinders, it’ll be tough for the Hawkeyes to keep up.
No. 14 Syracuse at No. 5 Clemson — noon on ABC, fuboTV (Try for free): This battle of strength vs. strength will be fascinating considering how the Orange rushing attack has evolved. The duo of running back Sean Tucker and quarterback Garrett Shrader will be going up against a Tigers front seven that is one of the most talented in the country, and can get penetration with the best of them.
No. 7 Ole Miss at LSU — 3:30 p.m. on CBS, CBSSports.com, CBS Sports App: The Rebels defense struggled to slow down a sub-par Auburn offense last week, and Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels became the second player in LSU history to account for six touchdowns in one game. The Rebels are slight underdogs in this one despite their unblemished record and No. 7 ranking.
No. 9 UCLA at No. 10 Oregon — 3:30 p.m. on Fox, fuboTV (Try for free): How many of you thought that we’d be in late October and have two Pac-12 teams in the Top 10? Put your hand down. No you didn’t. The Bruins are led by the dynamic duo of quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and running back Zach Charbonnet, while Ducks quarterback Bo Nix has become a star in Eugene, Oregon. This could be the opening act of a Pac-12 Championship Game between the same teams.
No. 20 Texas at No. 11 Oklahoma State — 3:30 p.m. on ABC, fuboTV (Try for free): The Longhorns have become a force now that Quinn Ewers has returned from his Week 2 injury, and the Cowboys will be looking to get back on the winning track after suffering a heart-breaking loss to TCU last weekend. This could be a de facto elimination game in the race to make the Big 12 Championship Game.
No. 24 Mississippi State at No. 6 Alabama — 7 p.m. on ESPN, fuboTV (Try for free): The Bulldogs are catching the Crimson Tide at the worst possible time after the Tide fell to Tennessee last weekend. It’ll be fascinating to see how the Bulldogs’ air raid offense attacks a Tide secondary that was routinely beaten over the top by Volunteers receivers (mainly Jalin Hyatt) last week.
No. 17 Kansas State at No. 8 TCU — 8 p.m. on FS1, fuboTV (Try for free): The upstart Horned Frogs, led by star quarterback Max Duggan and a host of receivers, will look to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive after last week’s loss to Oklahoma State. Keep an eye on Wildcats quarterback Adrian Martinez. The veteran is finally living up to the hype that followed him to Nebraska before he transferred last offseason.

College football schedule, games 2022: What to watch in Week 7, TV channels, Saturday kickoff times
Buckle up and hold on tight, college football fans. Week 7 has the chance to be one of the wildest weekends we’ve seen this season. No. 3 Alabama will head to Rocky Top to take on No. 6 Tennessee in the annual rivalry known as the “Third Saturday in October.” The Volunteers will be looking to break the Crimson Tide’s 15-game winning streak in the series, and firmly establish themselves as a threat to make the College Football Playoff.

Slack’s having issues with notifications and loading threads and channels
If you’ve had issues with Slack on Thursday, you’re not alone — for most of the day, the service’s status page has reported that “something’s not quite right” with messaging, apps, integrations, APIs, and connections. The issues, which seem to affect threads, channels, notifications and group DMs, lasted for pretty much the entire workday, starting around 9:40AM ET this morning and getting marked as resolved around 5:40PM.
Here at The Verge, the problems manifested themselves differently for different people; one of my co-workers described Slack as acting “funky all morning,” noting issues with threads in particular, while another reported that their notifications weren’t showing up correctly and that threads would load at random. For me, the app sometimes hung when I try to load a channel, and it only let me scroll back a certain amount; the app also booted me out of the Threads screen when I was trying to type a reply and then only showed hours-old threads when I went back. Another colleague reported that their Threads screen was broken entirely. By the early evening, things were mostly back to normal.
At around 3PM ET, Slack noted that observed “significant improvement with notifications, accessing channels/DMs, saved items and API hyperlinks,” and by 5:03PM, it said it had identified the issue with threads and was rolling out a fix. The incident page says that you should reload Slack if you’re still experiencing problems, using the Command + Shift + R keyboard shortcut on Mac, or the Ctrl + Shift + R shortcut on Windows and Linux.
While these issues have been annoying, they’re weren’t completely work-breaking like full Slack outages are. That may be why there’s not a ton of chatter about it on Twitter and why there are relatively few reports on Downdetector.com. But no, you’re not imagining that things aren’t quite right; hopefully, Slack will get things sorted soon.

College football schedule, games 2022: What to watch in Week 4, TV channels, Saturday kickoff times
The final Saturday of September is upon us which means that massive conference matchups litter the Week 4 college football slate. No. 20 Florida will head to Rocky Top to take on No. 11 Tennessee in the SEC on CBS Game of the Week in a massive SEC East rivalry that will go a long way toward determining the state of the rebuilding process for both teams.
Elsewhere, No. 5 Clemson will hit the road to take on No. 21 Wake Forest at high noon ET. The Tigers haven’t exactly been impressive through three games, but a win over the Demon Deacons would be a sure-fire signal that Dabo Swinney’s crew can contend.
A late night SEC West battle between No. 10 Arkansas and No. 23 Texas A&M will kickoff in the evening, as will a cross-division Big Ten tilt between Wisconsin and No. 3 Ohio State.

Ewers looked great against the Crimson Tide prior to his shoulder injury, and it’ll be interesting to see how coach Steve Sarkisian uses him if he does see the field.

With Week 3 of the college football season upon us, there are a plethora of compelling matchups that headline what could be another wild week of action for fans to enjoy. On CBS, No. 22 Penn State will become the first Big Ten team to play Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium when the two tee it up on Saturday afternoon. This Big Ten vs. SEC showdown sees the Tigers looking for revenge at home after a 28-20 loss to the Nittany Lions in Happy Valley last season.
Elsewhere, No. 6 Oklahoma will rekindle its rivalry with Nebraska and No. 13 Miami will head to College Station, Texas, to take on No. 24 Texas A&M. All kinds of chaos broke loose last weekend during a wild Week 2, including in College Station where Appalachian State topped the Aggies in a stunning upset.
