Cardi B slams inflation: Rapper says grocery prices have tripled and is outraged lettuce now cost $7

Cardi B has slammed President Biden for soaring inflation that has, she says, seen grocery prices triple and a lettuce rise to $7.

While the wealthy rapper does not specifically name the President, she angrily demands ‘anybody that is responsible’ to bring prices down immediately.

The rapper, 30, revealed on Wednesday that she budgets every week to avoid going broke despite her $62 million net worth.

She urged officials to address the crisis, especially for the middle and lower class who might not be able to afford the soaring prices.

‘When I go to the f***** supermarket… I’m seeing that everything tripled up – that like lettuce was like $2 a couple of months ago and now it’s like f****** $7,’ the rapper said in a video posted to Twitter.

‘And I have a big platform, so I do want anybody that is responsible for these f****** prices to put that s*** the f*** down.’

Cardi acknowledged that she could either keep silent or speak up while arguing the price to buy groceries is more than eating out.

‘Of course I’m going to say something. The f****. Because if I think that s*** is crazy, I can only imagine what middle class people or people in the hood is m***** f***** thinking, so yes I’m going to say something.’

Some people argued that the rapper shouldn’t be complaining about inflation since she is a millionaire.

But the Grammy winner who is no stranger to indulging in the finer things in life, including $10,000 Hermès handbags, quickly addressed the contentious comments and claimed that managing money helps to ensure the longevity of wealth.

‘Let me tell you something, when I be complaining about food and all y’all m***** f***** be like “ain’t you rich why you complaining about lettuce? Why you complaining about this?” That just goes to show me when you become successful – when you have money – you’re going to f***** go broke soon because y’all not budgeting.

Cardi furiously opened up about her own money management techniques and how she needs to know exactly what it is being spent on.

‘I got a summary of the money that is being spent in my home every week, so when I’m starting to see that like groceries is like tripling up, it’s like “ay yo, what the f*** is going on.’ I want to see for myself what the f*** s*** is being spent on.’

The rapper owns a luxurious 22,000 square foot mansion in Atlanta, Georiga with her husband Offset. The two share two children, Wave Set, one, and Kulture, four.

Offset is also father to sons Jordan, 12, and Kody, seven, and daughter Kalea Marie, seven, from prior relationships.

Their $5.8 million dream home has 5 bedroom with 7 bathrooms and 4 half bathrooms. The property is completed with an underground shooting range and wine cellar.

She argued that something has to be done to help the middle and lower class, especially if she is noticing a dent in her $62 million net-worth

Back in September, Cardi shared her outrage over the ‘unbearable’ cost of living and the hot housing market.

She admitted that she has to financially help her family and friends and questioned how others survive.

Voicing her thoughts, she exclaimed: ‘There’s no m************ inventory when it comes to homes. Nobody’s gonna try to sell their f****** homes.

‘I was looking at some areas. The way that the prices soar up… like how are people surviving? I want to know.

‘My family and my friends, they’re so grateful to have me, but it’s just like, what happens to people who don’t have a me?’

The rapper appears to enjoy the finer items in life, especially luxury handbags. But it appears she doesn’t let her wealth get in the way of speaking out for other people.

Cardi has history in commenting on politics, famously getting into an online war of words with  Candace Owens back in 2020, after the conservative commentator called the Grammy-winning rapper ‘illiterate’ and an ‘embarrassment’ to black people.

The feud began when Owens shared a clip of her appearance on The Ben Shapiro Show, in which she slammed then-Democratic nominee Joe Biden for taking part in an interview with Cardi for Elle.

Owens said it was ‘one of the biggest insults’ to black voters that Biden decided to do the interview with an ‘illiterate rapper’, rather than someone who could ask the ‘tough questions’.

The Republican went on to say that Biden thinks ‘black people are stupid’ and likened his interview with Cardi B to Donald Trump being interviewed by Justin Bieber.

Candace Owens, a conservative political commentator, harshly criticized Cardi B’s Grammy performance

Cardi caught wind of Owens’ comments and hit back at her in a video on Instagram, in which she insisted Biden decided to sit down with her because of her wide-ranging influence.

‘It’s not a secret I use my platform to encourage people to vote,’ Cardi, who previously endorsed Bernie Sanders said during the video.

‘I have millions of followers. I pay millions in taxes. I have the Number One song in this country, I have the Number One song in the United Kingdom, I have the Number One song in Australia, I have the Number One song in New Zealand.

‘Just like I can make millions of people pop their p****y,’ she said of her hit-single WAP, ‘I can make millions of people go out and vote.’

Cardi previously said she used to talk more openly about politics but halted when she was continuously ‘attacked’ by conservatives, according to Billboard.

One person on Twitter questioned why she stopped being vocal in 2021.

‘I was tired of getting bullied by the republicans and also getting bashed by the same people I was standing up for,’ she wrote in response.

Cardi continues to voice her opinion and previously spoke out about Russia and Ukraine before they officially went to war in February.

At the time, she was asked on Twitter what she ‘thinks about the whole Russia thing.’

Insisting her phone wasn’t hacked, Cardi told fans ‘I feel like if I don’t say the right things I might get killed’ before urging world leaders to ‘stop tripping on power.’

The rapper shared a tweet in response to the fan question about Russia, writing: ‘Wish these world leaders stop tripping about power and really think about whose really getting affected (citizens) besides the whole world is in a crisis. War, sanctions, invasions should be the last thing these leaders should worry about.’

After another fan wrote ‘okay, pass Cardi her phone back now,’ she jumped on a video to insist her ‘phone is not hacked, it’s really me.’

‘I actually wanna say a lot of things but I’m just gonna mind my business because sometimes I feel like I have such a big platform that if I don’t say the right things I might get killed,’ she explained.

‘But I’m really not on Nato’s side, I’m not on Russia’s side, I’m actually on the citizens side because at the end of the day the world is having a crisis right now,’ Cardi continued.

‘There’s inflation not only in America but everywhere in the world. It’s really hard to get the economy back up. There is so much shipments backed up.’

The consumer price index rose at the fastest rate in 40 years earlier in 2022

The Fed rapidly raised interest rates in 2022 to fight inflation, increasing recession risks

While inflation came down slightly in the later months of 2022, the U.S. saw record-high rates earlier in the year.

In November, inflation in the US came in at 7.1 percent. The number, still high, marked the fifth-straight month of shrinking annual increases.

The Wall Street Journal survey of 23 primary dealers, the large financial firms that do business directly with the Federal Reserve, found a majority expect a recession in the coming year.

It follows the Fed’s rapid rate hikes designed to battle soaring inflation last year, which saw the benchmark rate rise from near zero in March to a range of 4.25 percent to 4.5 percent by the end of the year.

The central bank forecasts that will reach a range of 5 percent to 5.25 percent by the end of 2023. Its forecast doesn’t call for a rate cut before 2024.

The Fed policy rate is now at its highest level since prior to the 2008 recession, as the central bank attempts to bring inflation down without triggering an economic downturn.

By the Fed’s preferred measure, inflation is still running nearly three times its 2 percent goal, having risen earlier in 2022 at its fastest pace in 40 years.

President Joe Biden signed Inflation Reduction Act into law in August in low-key ceremony

Biden signed the $430 billion Inflation Reduction Act in August to combat rising prices.

But Republicans argued the legislation would lead to higher energy prices, higher taxes for the middle class, and, potentially, more audits from the Internal Revenue Service.

The act includes incentives for the clean energy industry, permits Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for the elderly, seeks to ensure corporations and wealthy people pay their taxes through enhanced IRS resources, and aims to combat inflation by reducing the federal deficit.

Biden argued he and the Democrats have helped steer the economy back to more solid ground.

The president originally wanted to pass his trillion-dollar social welfare bill known as ‘Build Back Better.’ But it died a legislative death when moderate Democratic Senator Joe Manchin refused to support it, citing concerns it would raise the deficit.

Manchin signed onto the Inflation Reduction Act after months of negotiations.

Megan Thee Stallion has filed a restraining order against both her record label, 1501 Entertainment, and distributor, 300 Entertainment, for trying to interfere with her American Music Awards nomination.

She is nominated for Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist, going up against Cardi B, GloRilla, Latto and Nicki Minaj.

Megan had sued 1501 in February claiming she had fulfilled the contract, though the label filed a countersuit, claiming the compilation album doesn’t count as a full album.

The label claims her contract states any new album must have at least 12, ‘new master recordings of studio performances,’ and Something For Thee Hotties doesn’t.

The label also claims they have full approval over all the tracks and they didn’t approve anything in Something For Thee Hotties, which debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 album charts in late October 2021.

The album debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 album charts, her fifth Top 10 album following 2019’s Fever, 2020’s Sugar and Good News and 2021’s Something For Thee Hotties.

Cardi B pleads guilty to 2 misdemeanors

Cardi B has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors today, Pitchfork reports, at least one of which was in relation to an incident that took place at a strip club back in 2018. The rapper and musician has been sentenced to 15 days of community service in relation to the crime, as well as being ordered to pay court fees.

Specifically, Cardi B (and two co-defendants) entered a guilty plea on assault in the third degree and reckless endangerment in the second degree, in relation to an incident in which the musician was accused of ordering her bodyguards to beat up bartenders at a strip club in Queens. Ten other charges, including some felonies, were initially brought up against her and her entourage, but were later dropped. (There was also, per Pitchfork, an attempt at one point by the D.A.’s office to use social media posts to prove that the assault was allegedly pre-meditated, but Facebook and Instagram refused to play ball.)

Cardi B issued a statement about the charges today:

Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions. As a mother, it’s a practice that I am trying to instill in my children, but the example starts with me. I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to. These moments don’t define me and they are not reflective of who I am now. I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most—the music and my fans.

The Queens district attorney’s office issued a statement of its own today, noting that, “No one is above the law,” and expressing its happiness at the outcome of the case.

Cardi B pleads guilty in Queens strip club fight, avoids time in jail

NEW YORK (WABC) — Cardi B will avoid jail after pleading guilty to two misdemeanors for her role in a 2018 brawl in a Flushing, Queens, strip club.

The rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, pleaded guilty Thursday to third degree assault and reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors.

The charges had been upgraded to felonies when she was indicted in 2019, but on Wednesday, she pleaded guilty to the initial charges from the Aug. 29, 2018 attack.

She agreed to 15 days community service. If she fails to complete the community service, she will have to serve 15 days in jail.

The attack at the Angels Strip Club in Flushing stemmed from a long-simmering feud between Cardi B and two sisters who are bartenders at the club.

Cardi B reportedly accused one of the women of having an affair with her husband, Offset, a member of the rap trio Migos.

A fight broke out and Cardi B and others with her threw bottles, chairs and hookah pipes in the clash.

The rapper appeared in court with two co-defendants, Tawana Jackson-Morel and Jeffrey Bush, who also pleaded guilty in court Thursday.

The 35-year-old Bush, accused of the actual assault, will serve six months behind bars.

All three agreed to stay away from the two female victims.

Attorney Drew Findling said outside court that Cardi agreed to the last minute plea because she has “moved to another part of her life” and “a three week jury trial would be a distraction from the things that she felt were most important.”

He said for her, 15 days of community service is no different than the community service she has served over the past few years, ticking off prior examples.

“As soon as she does this community service, which will obviously be consistent with community service she does anyway, that will be the end,” he said.

Another attorney, Jeff Kern, said the community service would be in Queens, and hinted it would involve children.

“The idea is she’s going to do something that plays to her strengths, in terms of reaching people, particularly young people,” Kern said. “Positive messages about education, about staying on track.”

Before Thursday morning’s plea, jury selection was set to begin Friday and Cardi’s trial would have started Monday.

Cardi B released the following statement:

“Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions. As a mother, it’s a practice that I am trying to instill in my children, but the example starts with me. I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to. These moments don’t define me and they are not reflective of who I am now. I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most–the music and my fans.”

“No one is above the law,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said. “In pleading guilty today, Ms. Belcalis Almanzar and two co-defendants have accepted responsibility for their actions. This Office is satisfied with the resolution, which includes appropriate community service.”

Cardi B Surprises Offset With A Massive Breakfast In Bed For Father’s Day

Cardi B and Offset’s kids gave the rapper a feast fit for a king.

Father’s Day is here, and fathers everywhere are getting special treatment. This holds true for Offset, who recently welcomed his second child with Cardi B into the world. He and Cardi are all about their kids, and so it’s clear Cardi wanted the day to count for her partner in parenting.

Cardi B delivered a massive buffet to Offset while he was still in bed. The platter placed before the dad overflowed with chicken, waffles, bacon, fruit, and more.

@iamcardib Instagram Story

In Cardi’s IG story, Offset barely knows what to do with the massive amount of food. Cardi laughs and says, “Happy Father’s Day.” It looked like Offset barely had time to eat the feast, because the story continues with him making his way down the stairs of their house, trailed by loving kids. The mansion is decked out with balloons and other decorations to celebrate fatherhood. Cardi then shared a heartwarming photo of Offset embracing all his kids.

This was all followed by the kids getting to show off their gifts. They can hardly wait for their dad to get through their letters, each of them putting reaching to put a new card in his hand. One card, described as a “prank,” folded into a beer glass. Offset was amused, saying, “Oh, it’s like a beer… Okay I like that one.” He pantomimed drinking it to the delight of his children.

Offset’s all about showing parents love. He recently gave his mom a Birkin bag with $50,000 inside of it. You know what they say: what goes around comes around.

Cardi B Returns To Her Stripper Roots On Cabo Baecation With Offset

The couple packed on the PDA after Cardi showed out on the pole.

Cabo is heating up this Memorial Day long weekend thanks to Offset and Cardi B, who are currently on a baecation in the luxurious Mexican paradise. Their trip kicked off with a flirty photo dump from the mother of two, who flexed her “body in Miu Miu” with her “kitty on meow meow” in a colourful two-piece crochet set while riding on a private jet, and things have only gotten more eventful since then.

Upon arriving to their accommodations, the “Clout” collaborators were met with a beautiful view, although it wasn’t long before tragedy struck as a yacht began to sink right in front of them. Luckily, the boat was empty, but the “Money” rapper still provided devastated commentary as the “big boat” said “Buh-bye!”

Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images

On Sunday, May 29th, it looks like Cardi and her husband hit the town and found themselves in a strip club, where the Hustlers actress didn’t hesitate to hop on the pole and showcase the moves that helped her make money before her rise to fame in the music industry.

“We in Cabo… Where the hoes at?” she tweeted last night. “What’s the vibes for the night?!” Clearly, the vibes for the night were getting hot and heavy with Offset, as that’s exactly what they did, packing on the PDA when the 29-year-old had finished her performance to The Weeknd’s “Earned It.”

In other news, just a few days before they headed out on vacation, the Migos member made headlines after declaring that Cardi B is his “favourite meal” for a TikTok – read more about that here, and tap back in with HNHH later for more hip-hop news updates.

Cardi B & Offset’s Son, Wave Set Cephus, Was Named By Migos Member Sources Say

It’s also been revealed that the baby boy already has a jewelry collection worth hundreds of thousands.

Seeing as they both have incredibly unique monikers themselves, it’s really no surprise that Cardi B (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) and Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) opted to give their son a name like Wave Set Cephus. According to a new report from TMZ, it was the young boy’s father who came up with the clever title.

Sources say that, once the musically talented couple discovered they were having their first boy together — they already share 3-year-old Kulture Kiari Cephus — they immediately started throwing around name suggestions, with the Migos member’s idea coming out on top.

Brad Barket/Getty Images

As for his middle name, Set, it’s been reported that Cardi and Offset were initially considering Marley as a play on the “WAP” hitmaker’s middle name but ultimately, Wave Marley Cephus just didn’t sound right to her.

When their bundle of joy arrived on September 4th, and his parents were able to get a good look at him, they went with Set — inspired by a nickname given to his dad by friends.

While the “Clout” collaborators enjoyed their first few months at home with baby Wave, they primarily kept him off social media and out of the spotlight, reportedly due to the negativity they’re hit with online at times, especially directed towards their children.

The Cardi B-mini me may be just a few months old, but he’s already got an incredible jewelry collection thanks to Elliot Elliante, who iced the young boy out with diamond studs, tennis chains, a custom wave charm, and a Miami link chain said to be worth nearly $200K.

Wave Set Cephus made his debut on the cover of Essence alongside his older biological sister, as well as his half siblings from Offset’s prior relationships — read more about that here, and let us know what your thoughts on the unique baby name are in the comments.

Cardi B and Cuban Doll Beef Reignites

Cardi B and Cuban Doll have reignited their beef in quite the spectacular fashion on Twitter.

Earlier this evening (Jan. 8), it appears the entire back-and-forth began when a fan account shared that Cuban had posted a photo of Nicki Minaj on her Instagram stories, hinting that Minaj had been the inspiration for Cuban’s leopard print outfit in a music video she has coming out.

Cardi B fans also brought up Cardi’s “WAP” video, in which she wears a leopard print outfit, speculating that Cuban Doll took inspo for the upcoming music video from Cardi.

Cardi eventually caught wind of the posts after a separate fan account replied with an old video of the “Bodak Yellow” rapper showing love to Cuban. Cardi replied in a tweet that has since been deleted, saying that people don’t have a reason to hate her and that it’s just a bandwagon mentality. “Ask me why they hate me … THEY  DON’T HAVE A REASON, JUST BANDWAGONING,” she wrote. “It’s Cool tho, everyone that ever hated never succeeded.”

Cuban then began sending multiple subliminal tweets at Cardi that have also since been deleted. In the posts, she denied being inspired by Cardi. The Bronx rapper’s supporters even pulled up old Instagram Stories showing Cuban listening to Cardi’s music.

But the Invasion of Privacy rapper managed to screen-grab a few of Cuban’s initial tweets, two of which that read, “I pray a man don’t marry me just to cheat on me … that’s next level OD DISRESPECT,” and “I could never be inspired by someone who I don’t listen to . Simple stop trying to force that on me.”

Cardi captioned the screenshots with, “You started this whole shit wit those two NOW DELETED tweets being shady about the inspiration and then my husband. Now that I respond I’m wrong?”

Cuban then fired back and said she and Cardi haven’t been on the same page since Offset was allegedly trying to sleep with Cuban in 2018. This is a notable turning point in the conversation because Cardi then tweeted a video from 2019, in which Cuban is telling a TMZ reporter that she didn’t know Offset or had ever spoken to him at that time.

To drive her point even further home, Cardi posted direct messages between her and Cuban, in which Cuban denies that she knew anything about the Offset cheating situation. Apparently Cuban said Summer Bunni, her friend at the time, was the woman caught in the cheating scandal.

But then Cuban sent out perhaps the most revealing tweet of the night. She claimed in a since-deleted post that she was paid off to clear Offset’s name in the 2018 cheating scandal where Summer Bunni claimed the Migos rapper wanted to have a threesome with her and Cuban.

“Girl you know I was paid to clear his name,” Cuban wrote to Cardi with four crying laughing emojis.

Cardi then questioned why Cuban has changed her story so many times and fired a final shot that appeared to tie back to why the back-and-forth started in the first place.

Finally, the two rappers sent out their final tweets on the situation—at least for the time being.

The “WAP” rapper replied: “This is you as well LIKE I SAID …Don’t try to act victim cause I reply to those deleted tweets you was directing at me. Just tell your label to pay me for the promo.”

When presented with evidence of her previously denying the rumor, Cuban Doll claimed that she was paid off to shut it down.

“First you said the girl was no longer ya friend, then it turned to he was fuckin her, now it’s he was trying to fuck with you? You can’t even keep up with ya own lies,” Cardi tweeted. “Show me the receipts. You started this yet asking me what does it prove? Honey you need this moment not me.”
