On Thursday evening, friends of the Pugh family passed along the following update from Ashley regarding Gracie and Jayleigh.

“Currently the girls are stable, but they both have a very long road of recovery ahead of them. Gracie, 12, when she originally got to Nanticoke [hospital], she couldn’t feel anything from the waist down. She was diagnosed with an L2 dislocation and an L3 and L4 fracture in her back with compression on her spinal cord. After Nanticoke got her stabilized, they transferred her to another hospital and she got feeling back in her thighs, but nothing lower than her knee. She was taken straight for a MRI and surgery on Wednesday morning around 3 AM. The doctor was able to relieve the compression on the spinal cord and surgery went as well as expected. When you have trauma to your spinal cord, it’s a waiting game. With the swelling and trauma, you have to wait. She still has feeling in her thighs, but no movement as of yet. Gracie had tingling in her feet on and off today. Her progress will be a day-to-day basis for months to come. She is bruised up pretty badly, but at this time, no other injuries have been diagnosed.

“Jayleigh was diagnosed with an open tibia and fibula fracture at Nanticoke, where she underwent surgery. They placed an external fixator on and sent her back to the hospital. She has been diagnosed with a C7 fracture in her neck and has been placed in a neck brace, which she will be in for six weeks. She also has an L3 and L4 fracture in her back, which can be managed with a back brace for about 12 weeks. She has a right clavicle fracture from the seatbelt as well as a broken rib on the right side. She has a small left pneumothorax, which is the air between the lung and chest wall, not inside the lung. They are just monitoring that as it’s not large enough for intervention at this point, which is a blessing. Today, she was diagnosed with a perforated bowel with free fluid in her abdomen, she had some internal bleeding in her stomach area. They knew about it and they were watching it and today they were able to pinpoint it and find out where it was. That surgery went awesome, that got in there and got the bleeding under control and got her on the mend. She went to the OR for that today. They did a bowel resection, which means they took a little of it out, nothing that is long-term effects. While she was down there, the orthopedics decided to do another washout of her leg and some manipulation to the bones for better alignment. She still has the external fixator in place and they placed an NG tube down her nose to decompress her stomach. They will take it out tomorrow and this will allow her to eat.”

It was stated that both girls are in a lot of pain and they were hoping for a good night’s sleep. The family friends asked for continued prayers for the Pugh family. Ashley thanked everyone who has prayed, supported, donated, or helped in any way.

A donation page was set up on Thursday morning and fans can donate by clicking here.

Fightful continues to send our love, support, and prayer to the Pugh family.

Adam Pearce remembers Jay Briscoe – Wrestling News

TMZ Sports spoke with Adam Pearce about the passing of the great Jay Briscoe. Peace had the following to say:

“Last night I got the news like everyone in wrestling did and I was breathless. You know, this is a contemporary of so many of ours and somebody that we all loved. It’s a cliche to say that, but I mean, I can’t think of anybody that ever encountered Jay Briscoe that wouldn’t tell you the same thing. He was an incredible performer. As you listen to accolades and the championships, I mean, it was on and on and on. He and his brother Mark are, for my money, one of the greatest tag teams in the history of our business and that’s not hyperbole. I believe that. I shared many a ring with them, many a locker room. I dealt with them in every facet of our industry. Most of all, he was my friend, and I am dumbfounded that this happened and, God, my heart goes out to his family.”

“The thing that has always kind of endeared me most to him is his love for his family. He was an incredible father, an incredible husband. I know his mom and dad and his wife and I am just beyond myself without having any idea what to say to anybody. How do you comfort a family that you’ve known for, God I met Jay and Mark in, it had to be 2005, almost 20 years ago, and you just don’t have the words, man. You just don’t have the words, but I want the world to know, beyond the wrestler that he was, the Ring of Honor Hall of Famer that he is and always will be, Jay Briscoe was an incredible father and family man. I know that he valued that more than any accolade in wrestling.”

Jamin Pugh, better known as Jay Briscoe, the most decorated wrestler in the history of Ring of Honor, coming off arguably the greatest tag team match and series of matches of his career, was killed in an auto accident on 1/17 in Laurel, DE.

He was 38, eight days before his 39th birthday. His death came the day before the 38th birthday of his brother Mark, who he formed one of the best tag teams in history with.

This resulted in a head-on collision with the two pickup trucks.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident when police arrived. Both of Pugh’s daughters, 12-year-old Gracie and nine-year old Jayleigh were in critical condition with very serious injuries. They were rushed to Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, DE.

Briscoe’s death was confirmed by AEW and ROH owner Tony Khan. Khan pledged to do everything he can to support Briscoe’s family.

“Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today,” Khan wrote. “Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin.”

After starting his in-ring career as a teenager, Briscoe made his name in pro wrestling while teaming with his brother Mark in ROH. It capped off a trilogy of matches between the teams that took place last year.

“I’ve been in tears since I heard the news,” FTR’s Cash Wheeler tweeted. “I just don’t have the words. Rest in Peace Jay.”

Briscoe also had success as a singles wrestler, holding the ROH world championship twice. He and Mark were the first wrestlers inducted when ROH launched its Hall of Fame in 2022.

NASCAR sponsor places bet on Chase Briscoe, the win paid 6 figures

At one point Briscoe was +5000 to win at Phoenix Raceway; He drove to victory lane

Over the weekend, NASCAR returned to Phoenix Raceway. The 1-mile track hosted the 4th race of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Season.

Heading into the event, Chase Briscoe had yet to claim a victory. He held off Ross Chastain and Tyler Reddick, claiming his first career victory.

Just ahead of the race, Briscoe was 100-1 to win the race. Earlier in the week, Briscoe was +5000.

Rusty Rush, owner of Rush Truck Centers placed a bet on his driver. That bet has paid him back in the range of 6 figures.

Chase Briscoe comments on the win

“I never thought I would run a single truck race, let alone run a cup race and now be a winner,” Chase Briscoe stated from the media center.

Briscoe became the 200th different winner in the NASCAR Cup Series.

“To be just 1 of 200, it’s humbling, unbelievable. 7 years ago, I was literally two days away from giving up racing. At least, on the pavement side.

“Briggs Cunningham called me and asked if I wanted to test an ARCA car. That turned into a race, then a full season. And that turned into Ford taking a chance on me. There’s been a few times along the way where my career could have been over. Even in the last 4-5 [years].”

He added, “These guys are incredible race car drivers. Just to be on the track with them, it’s humbling.”

Briscoe previously claimed 11 wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. 9 of those came in 2020.

After the win, Rusty Rush came up to Briscoe in victory lane and showed the winning driver a betting receipt.

“I guess he placed a bet, he was pretty excited,” Chase Briscoe stated.

“It was a good one that he won. Yeah, he was pretty fired up. Rusty Rush, our sponsor, I think he won six figures, so he was pretty excited.”

Rusty said in victory lane that he’s sending $1,000 to everyone on the team.
