Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) Dock Can Be Bought Separately

Image: Nintendo

Nintendo’s new Switch model has most of its improvements, like a bigger and better screen, on the unit itself. But its dock has also been upgraded with a new look and more features, and Nintendo says that if you only want that, and not a whole new system, then you can buy it separately.

A Nintendo spokesperson told Digital Trends that both colours of the dock, white and black, will be available to buy on their own. They won’t include any cables (current standalone dock purchases don’t either), and while no price or release date was announced, expect to take the current dock price of $60 and push it a little higher to account for the added features.

Those features include…well, just one major thing, which is the addition of a LAN port, which will be fantastic news to anyone having to rely on a slow and/or patchy wi-fi connection. It also has rounded corners, which look a little nicer, and may also contribute to fewer scratched screens if you ever had to suffer from that particular issue.

The docks will only be available directly from Nintendo directly, meaning you won’t be able to grab one from GameStop or Amazon or whatever. And they’ll also be interchangeable, meaning you can use an old dock on a new Switch, and vice versa.

If you’re just joining us, the new Switch—officially named the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model)—is internally pretty much unchanged, aside from a doubling of its internal storage capacity from 32GB to 64GB, and will both display and output to TVs at the same resolutions. Most of the improvements come on the outside, with a newer and bigger screen measuring 7 inches, an increase from the original Switch’s 6.2 inches.

There’s also, perhaps most exciting of all from a purely practical standpoint, a vastly-improved kickstand, which now runs all the way across the back of the console instead of sticking out like a wobbly, precarious little fin.

It’ll be $350, and is out on October 8.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani bought a house

There is no doubt this time that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have tied the knot.

The couple officially got hitched on Saturday, less than a month after the No Doubt singer sparked wedding rumors by wearing a diamond band on her left hand.

The ceremony took place at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch, where sources previously said he built a chapel with the intention of marrying Stefani there.

Stefani, 51, and Shelton, 45,  began dating in 2015 after meeting as coaches on NBC’s “The Voice.”

At the time, the rocker and country superstar were both newly divorced.

In July 2015, Shelton filed for divorce from Miranda Lambert, his second wife, after four years of marriage. Then, just weeks later, Stefani and Gavin Rossdale shocked fans by calling it quits after 13 years of marriage and three children.

Since getting together, the musicians have collaborated on a few lovestruck songs, including “Nobody But You,” “Happy Anywhere” and “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.”

The couple announced their engagement in October 2020.

Shelton quietly proposed to the “Rich Girl” singer with a huge, six- to nine-carat round solitaire diamond set on what appeared to be a platinum band.

Earlier this week, reports surfaced that the pair would soon be hearing wedding bells after they applied for a marriage license in Oklahoma.

A stray dog kept stealing a stuffed unicorn from a Dollar General, so animal control bought it for him

The business in Kenansville, North Carolina, called animal control on Sisu, a large male stray dog, because of his repeated thievery. He had come to the store five times to steal the same stuffed unicorn.

However, instead of being left empty handed, the Dublin County Animal Control officer who went to pick him up ended up buying the toy for Sisu instead.

The department posted pictures on social media Monday of him cuddling his coveted treasure at the county animal shelter, and his story quickly went viral.

“This is what happens when you break into the dollar general consistently to steal the purple unicorn that you laid claim to but then get animal control called to lock you up for your B & E and larceny but the officer purchases your item for you and brings it in with you,” the Facebook post says.

Due to becoming a famous criminal, Sisu, and his unicorn, were quickly adopted one day later, according to Animal Services.
