Bob Saget died from accidental head trauma, medical examiner says

Actor and comedian Bob Saget died from accidental head trauma, a Florida medical examiner said Thursday. Saget was 65 when he died last month.

No illicit drugs or toxins were found in his system, Dr. Joshua Stephany, chief medical examiner for Orange and Osceola counties, said in a statement. Stephany said Saget died from “blunt head trauma” and was an accident.

“His injuries were most likely incurred from an unwitnessed fall,” Stephany said.

An autopsy report released later Thursday showed that Saget had an abrasion on his scalp, a fracture at the base of his skull, fractures around his eye sockets, bleeding between the brain and tissue covering the brain as well as bruises to the brain, according to the Associated Press.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, the “Full House” star’s family said he “accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep.”

“In the weeks since Bob’s passing, we have been overwhelmed with the incredible outpouring of love from Bob’s fans, which has been a great comfort to us and for which we are eternally grateful,” the family said. “Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us.”

Candace Cameron Bure Says She And Bob Saget Got Into ‘Little Tiff’ Before His Death

Candace Cameron Bure lovingly recalled her final conversation and last words with Bob Saget before the comedian died in January.

During an appearance on “Today” this week, Bure told Hoda Kotb that she and Saget, who played her father on “Full House,” got into a “little tiff” just two weeks before Saget died, but luckily were able to patch things up right away.

“We were going to have dinner. And we got into a little tiff. And his flight was delayed ― we ended up not having dinner,” Bure said.

“But, in Bob fashion, the next day he wrote me what would be pages-long of a text,” she said, adding that the comedian “was apologizing, saying he was cranky and he was just so sorry.”

Saget said that his “cranky” behavior reminded him of his late mom, Dolly, in his texts to Bure.

“He said, ‘Oh now I feel even worse. I was so wrong. You’re, like, my favorite person on the earth. And I acted like Dolly. I was getting ready to take a late flight and I was annoyed,’” she said, explaining that “Bob went on and on and on in the text.”

“And he said at the end, ‘I love you more for the trouble you’re giving me, if that’s even possible,’” Bure said. “And I wrote back, ‘I love you ― I could never be mad at you. Roll my eyes at you? Yes. But never mad.’”

“‘And I love that [you being] Dolly. That made me laugh out loud. I loved your mom,’” she added.

Bob texted back, “I love you. My mom loved you too.”

Bure told Kotb that the last texts from Saget are precious to her.

“I’m so scared that I’m gonna pull up his text and then accidentally delete it one day,” Bure said as her voice started to break. “It scares me so much. Because I don’t ever want to lose this.”

Saget, 65, was found dead in Orlando, Florida, after performing a stand-up show in Jacksonville while on a nationwide comedy tour. A cause of death was not immediately known, but foul play and drug use were not suspected.

Bob Saget’s celebrity friends and comedians arrive at his funeral in LA

A host of celebrity comedians and actors attended Bob Saget’s LA funeral on Friday including Dave Chappelle, Jimmy Kimmel, Chris Rock, Jeff Ross and John Stamos.

The service was held around 2pm at Mount Sinai memorial park in Forest Lawn Cemetery, the final resting place of many Hollywood greats.

The Jewish service was packed out with well over 100 guests of friends, family, fellow stand-up comics and co-stars of Saget’s best-known show, Full House, spilling out onto the steps of the memorial hall overlooking the Warner Brothers studios in Los Angeles.

Saget, 65, who died in his sleep of a suspected heart attack on Sunday, was transported to the cemetery in a blue Chevrolet hearse.

Kelly Rizzo, his widow, said: ‘My whole heart. Bob was my absolute everything.’

She told Page Six on Monday: ‘I am so completely shattered and in disbelief. I am so deeply touched by the outpouring of love and tribute from our friends, family, his fans and his peers.’

After gathering at his home in Brentwood, his family travelled to Mount Sinai in a fleet of three black cars driven by the Kardashian’s favored limo service, Ascot.

Following the funeral, guests drove to Jeff Franklin’s home for an evening reception.

Franklin, the creator of Full House, lives in a mansion off Benedict Canyon overlooking Beverly Hills which is currently listed for rent at $250,000 per month.

Striking photos of the 9-bath, 18-bath, 21,000 sq ft house show a stone motor court, waterfall infinity pool, blue domed turret, games room and second outdoor pool.

The property listing describes a ‘private palatial masterpiece’ with a a ’75-yard pool with 3 waterfalls, 2 jacuzzis, a 35-foot water slide, swim-up bar, and private grotto.’

Chappelle, among dozens of other celebrities, was pictured heading into the mansion to mingle with Saget’s nearest and dearest.

Valets were on hand to shuttle guests up the home’s private drive – as its underground garage accommodating 16 cars was quickly overwhelmed by the huge turnout to Saget’s funeral.

Jaguars, Range Rovers, Audis and Teslas filled the parking lot at the hilltop memorial hall, that was fit to bust with well-wishers – despite Saget’s family saying the ceremony would be small.

Saget’s Full House co-star John Stamos tweeted Friday morning: ‘Today will be the hardest day of my life.

‘God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.’

Dave Chappelle, among the guests at the funeral, lamented that he did not reply to Saget’s last text.

Videoed while performing Thursday night at the Peppermint Club in West Hollywood, he joked comedians were ‘dying like hot cakes.’

‘I didn’t see [the death of] Bob coming,’ he said.

‘Man, he just texted me and I saw the text yesterday and I never texted him back because I was just busy. It happens.

‘I’m just saying this to remind you that these moments are precious,’ he added. ‘When I come out at night, I’m not just hanging out. I’m making memories.’

After the service a convoy of scores of guests in dozens of cars followed Saget’s hearse up to the highest point in the cemetery with views down to the Warner Bros studios to the north and Hollywood to the south, where his coffin was lowered into the ground.

Saget, 65, who died in his sleep of a suspected heart attack on Sunday, was transported to the cemetery in a blue Chevrolet hearse

Saget’s cause of death will not be officially determined for at least ten weeks.

He was found on Sunday lying in his hotel room bed at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, with one hand over his chest.

The night before he had performed a two-hour energetic stand-up set and posted a joyful message on social media.

Stand-up comic Jeff Ross attended the funeral dressed in a metallic blue suit, and accompanied by Jodie Sweetin who played Stephanie Tanner in the ABC comedy series.

Ross, who was close with Saget for over 15 years, said his death fitting albeit too soon.

‘You know he was this global superstar, TV star, but he passed away, alone in a hotel room, on the road, like a true comic,’ Ross told CNN.

‘I think that in an odd way that is sort of poetic and perfect. Even though way too soon, it’s kind of how I would want to go.’

He added that Saget’s daughters Aubrey, 34, Lara, 32, and Jennifer, 29, and his widow, Kelly Rizzo, were ‘hurting’, and described Saget’s marriage as ‘perfect’.

‘She was very well suited for him and him for her. She was a real partner to him and it’s exactly what Bob needed was somebody who could challenge him and love him at the same time. And it’s a real, beautiful love affair, you know, and it was just perfect in every way.’

Near to the Mt. Sinai hall are the crypts and graves for Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, Hollywood golden age actress Bette Davis, singer Liberace, Stan Laurel, Nipsey Hussle, and Buster Keaton.

Saget’s widow Kelly Rizzo, 42, was spotted outside the couple’s home Thursday ahead of the funeral. She looked somber as she stepped out to pick up her mail in a hoodie, baseball cap and sunglasses.

Numerous friends and loved ones had been seen visiting the couple’s Brentwood home throughout the week in the wake of his unexpected passing to offer their support and condolences.

On Thursday Full House co-stars Candace Cameron Bure, Dave Coulier, Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin reunited as they stopped by to pay their respects.

Bure, 45, who played Saget’s on-screen daughter DJ Tanner, was seen embracing her TV bestfriend Barber, 45, also known as Kimmy Gibbler, as the two gathered outside with Coulier, 62, who played Joey Gladstone.

Sweetin, 39, who played DJ’s younger sister Stephanie Tanner, was seen arriving separately with a friend.

Fellow comedian Jeffrey Ross was also seen visiting the home Thursday. Ross has spent the last couple days at the couple’s house and earlier this week revealed he had picked up Saget’s car at the LAX airport where the actor had left it before traveling to Florida.

Days earlier, the cast of the hit ABC sitcom released a collective statement paying tribute to their TV dad and longtime friend.

‘Thirty-five years ago, we came together as a TV family, but we became a real family. And now we grieve as a family,’ the statement said. ‘Bob made us laugh until we cried. Now our tears flow in sadness, but also with gratitude for all the beautiful memories of our sweet, kind, hilarious, cherished Bob.

‘He was a brother to us guys, a father to us girls and a friend to all of us. Bob, we love you dearly. We ask in Bob’s honor, hug the people you love. No one gave better hugs than Bob.’

It was signed off from, ‘John, Dave, Candace, Jodie, Lori, Andrea, Scott, Jeff, Ashley and Mary-Kate.’

Many of his fellow Full House stars also shared their own heart-wrenching tributes on social media after learning the shocking news of his death.

‘I don’t know what to say [broken-hearted emoji]. I have no words. Bob was one of the best human beings I’ve ever known in my life. I loved him so much,’ Candace Cameron Bure tweeted.

‘My heart is broken,’ said Dave Coulier. ‘I love you, Bob. Your forever brother, Dave.’

Lori Loughlin, also known as Aunt Becky, released an additional statement saying: ‘Words cannot begin to express how devastated I am. Bob was more than my friend, he was my family.’

She added: ‘I will miss his kind heart and quick wit. Thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories and laughter. I love you Bobby.’

Saget’s unexpected death comes amid his cross-country stand-up tour, which kicked off back in September 2021. He had recently played a string of shows in Florida, including one in Orlando.

On Saturday, the night before his body was discovered, Saget sent his final tweet following a show at Jacksonville, Florida’s Ponte Vedra Concert Hall.

‘Loved tonight’s show @PV_ConcertHall in Jacksonville. Appreciative audience,’ he wrote. ‘Thanks again to @RealTimWilkins for opening. I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight. I’m happily addicted again to this s**t. Check BobSaget.com for my dates in 2022.’

On Monday Rizzo broke her silence in a statement shared with People saying: ‘My whole heart. Bob was my absolute everything. I am so completely shattered and in disbelief.

‘I am so deeply touched by the outpouring of love and tribute from our friends, family, his fans and his peers.’

She continued: ‘When the time is right and when this news is not as raw, I look forward to sharing more of Bob with the world.

‘Sharing how much he meant to me, all of those around him, and how much all of his fans and friends meant to him as well. Thank you for respecting my privacy at this time.’

A source previously told the outlet Monday that Rizzo was ‘in shock and processing everything’ in the wake of her spouse’s sudden passing.

An insider told People that Saget had chatted with Rizzo ‘in the early morning hours on Sunday’ and that the comic ‘was so excited coming off of a great show and he sounded really happy.’

The source noted that Saget had been ‘scheduled to fly home the next day’ and when Rizzo hadn’t heard from him, she phoned the hotel, who sent security to the room he was staying in at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida.

Earlier this week DailyMail.com revealed that Saget was found lying face-up on his bed ‘cold to the touch… His left arm was across his chest while his right arm was resting on the bed’ – a position which officers said could point to a possible heart attack.

Authorities believe Saget may have ‘suffered a heart attack or stroke’ because they found no evidence of foul play or drug use.

Cops are also investigating Saget’s revelation during a podcast recording last week that he had recently battled Covid-19 and whether the virus may have caused blood clots or another side effect that played a part in his death on Sunday.

In an appearance on ‘A Corporate Time with Tom & Dan’, Saget revealed he had recently battled Covid-19, without saying when, described it as ‘not good’ and joked about dying from the virus in an apparent bid to drum up interest in his 2022 stand-up tour.

There is not expected to be a definitive cause of death for another ten to 12 weeks, according to Orange County’s Medical Examiner’s officer.

Security officer Jody Lee Harrison entered Saget’s room, 962, on Sunday afternoon after the hotel was contacted by concerned family. He found Saget ‘unresponsive and not breathing,’ according to the police report seen by DailyMail.com.

In the 911 call audio obtained by DailyMail.com, an officer can be heard telling dispatch, ‘We have an unresponsive guest in a room. My officer is telling me there’s no pulse. Not responsive, not breathing, and no pulse.’

The report states Saget was declared deceased at 4.18pm, 11 minutes after the 911 call. The officer says he saw nothing untoward.

Saget and Rizzo, who is a food blogger and TV host, initially met through friends Katie Killean and George Shapiro in 2015.

They married in October of 2018 in Santa Monica, California at the luxury hotel Shutters on the Beach with Saget’s friend, actor Jonathan Silverman, presiding over the ceremony.

Saget’s Full House costars Stamos, Bure, Dave Coulier, Lori Loughlin, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber were among those in attendance. The wedding also included a performance by Mayer of the song A Face to Call Home.

The nuptials came less than a year after they revealed they were engaged in November of 2017.

Candace Cameron Bure expresses grief following Full House co-star Bob Saget’s death at 65

Bob Saget spoke about his evolving approach to comedy, an influential mentor and his days as a student at Philadelphia’s Temple University in what would be his final interview ahead of his shocking death at the age of 65.

The Full House star and comedian was found dead Sunday in a Ritz-Carlton hotel room in Orlando, officials with the Orange County, Florida, sheriff’s office tweeted, adding that there were ‘no signs of foul play or drug use in this case.’

Saget on Wednesday appeared on News4JAX to promote his show Saturday at Jacksonville’s Ponte Vedra Concert Hall on his I Don’t Do Negative Comedy Tour.

The latest: Bob Saget spoke about his evolving approach to comedy, an influential mentor and his days as a student at Philadelphia’s Temple University in what would be his final interview ahead of his shocking death at the age of 65

He bonded with News4JAX anchor Bruce Hamilton, who he knew from Temple University, telling Hamilton, ‘I just remember you, we went to Temple.’

Saget got emotional when he was asked about Lew Klein, the late American Bandstand producer and Temple University professor who died at the age of 91 in June of 2019.

‘You’re gonna make me cry, he was like a dad to me,’ Saget said of Klein, noting that he helped him break into show business by getting him an internship on The Mike Douglas Show.

‘That was my first indoctrination into show business, I was 19,’ Saget said, hailing Klein for his care for students in an educational career that spanned more than six decades.

‘Lew Klein cared so much about students, I’ve had a couple of those teachers,’ Saget said. ‘When you get a teacher like that in your life, it’s a real gift, anybody watching who knows what I’m saying, both of my sisters were teachers and there’s nothing like it if you’re a good teacher and he literally helped me, and he would talk with me and then we lost him not too long ago, which is very sad.’

He bonded with News4JAX anchor Bruce Hamilton, who he knew from Temple University, telling Hamilton, ‘I just remember you, we went to Temple’

In the interview, Saget said he was enthusiastic about his forthcoming trip to the Sunshine State, where he had great memories.

‘I’m leaving tomorrow to be there so I can be, I’m going to Orlando and then I’m coming right to Jacksonville, I think it’s my third time in Jacksonville in about a year,’ Saget said. ‘We comedians have to go where comedy is loud and I’ve had great times in Florida, and I’m going back, it’s really a nice theater too, it’s small.’

Saget told Hamilton that his style of comedy had evolved in recent years, as he wasn’t ‘as blue as [he] used to be’ onstage.

‘I really love doing standup now more than I ever have, and I don’t talk politics, I don’t talk religion, I just want to make people laugh and I don’t want dissension in the room,’ he said. ‘I just want to make people have a good time and have a good night out, I’m getting ready to do a new special so we got to go on the road.’

Saget said his comedic style was ‘really kind of a different version’ of himself, adding ‘I just love it.’

Saget told Hamilton about how he continued working in his comedy career throughout the pandemic, which included his podcast Bob Saget’s Here For You , which he began in the early days of the pandemic in April of 2020.

He said that he loved doing his podcast and that he had welcomed ‘amazing guests’ for ‘great conversations’ on the platform.

‘I just love to do it,’ he said. ‘Everywhere where you are, you’re making people feel better, and that’s my job, and we get into the thick of it sometimes but it also depends if I have a comedian on … it’s really a fun thing to do.’

Saget said his latest comedic style was ‘really kind of a different version’ of himself, adding ‘I just love it’

Saget told Hamilton his first live comedy gig since the shutdown came as part of Dave Chappelle’s series in Yellow Springs, Ohio in the summer of 2020.

‘Once I was able to get out there safely, I did it,’ he said. ‘There’s nothing like it, I’ve been doing it for over 40 years I did it when we met that was doing stand up.’

On his Twitter page Wednesday, Hamilton wrote of the interview: ‘Loved talking to Bob and talking about our days at Temple U . Not just a typical interview for me. Great personal chat.’

In what would be his final social media post, Saget said that he had performed a two-hour set in in Jacksonville Saturday to an ‘appreciative audience.’

Cops ‘suspect Bob Saget suffered a heart attack or stroke’ in Orlando hotel

Cops suspect Full House legend Bob Saget ‘suffered a heart attack or stroke’ in his Orlando hotel and are exploring his revelation days before his death that he had recently battled Covid-19.

Authorities believe Saget, 65, may have suffered a medical emergency because they found no evidence of foul play or drug use and have not yet carried out a toxicology report, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

DailyMail.com revealed yesterday that Saget was found lying face-up on his bed ‘cold to the touch… His left arm was across his chest while his right arm was resting on the bed’. Sources told TMZ the position could be consistent with signs of a heart attack.

Cops are also investigating Saget’s revelation during a podcast recording last week that he had recently battled Covid-19 and whether the virus may have caused blood clots or another side effect that played a part in his death on Sunday.

In an appearance on ‘A Corporate Time with Tom & Dan’, Saget revealed he had recently battled Covid-19. He did not say exactly when he caught the virus, but mentioned the Omicron variant which was only discovered at the end of November, meaning his must have been infected in recent weeks.

Saget described Covid as ‘not good’ but later joked about dying from the virus in an apparent bid to drum up interest in his 2022 stand-up tour.

There is not expected to be a definitive cause of death for another ten to 12 weeks, according to Orange County’s Medical Examiner’s officer, which was tasked with determining what killed Saget.

He was found by staff in his room at The Ritz-Carlton, Orlando, at 4pm on Sunday after he failed to check out following a stand up performance in Jacksonville, Florida, the night before.

Saget’s widow Kelly Rizzo said yesterday she was ‘completely shattered and in disbelief’ following her husband’s sudden death.

‘My whole heart. Bob was my absolute everything. I am so completely shattered and in disbelief.’ she said.  ‘I am so deeply touched by the outpouring of love and tribute from our friends, family, his fans and his peers.’

A number of Saget’s friends and loved ones were snapped visiting the Brentwood home that he and Rizzo shared on Monday, including Candace Cameron Bure, John Mayer, John Stamos and his wife Caitlin McHugh, Jeffrey Ross and Saget’s ex-wife Sherri Kramer.

Last post: Saget’s final Twitter and Instagram posts were sent late at night following his final performance in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday. He wrote that performing felt as fresh as ‘when I was 26’ and said he was ‘finding my new voice and loving every moment of it’. Cops now believe the comedian star may have died from a heart attack

Mysterious death: Few details are currently available about the circumstances leading up to Saget’s death, though sources say that he was pronounced dead in his hotel room; seen on Full House in 1987 with (L–R) Mary-Kate/Ashley Olsen, Dave Coulier, Jodie Sweetin, John Stamos and Candace Cameron Bure

Saget was found in his room at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando on Sunday at 4pm. Police say there were no obvious signs of foul play or drug use

Flowers are seen left outside the San Francisco home used in exterior shots of Full House in honor of Bob Saget who died suddenly on Sunday, aged 65

‘Mr. Saget used his room key to enter the room at 0217 hours this date. As previously stated several attempts were made to open the door, after check out time, by hotel security for their check of well-being.’

‘Mr. Harrison received no response after knocking several times and attempted to gain entry,’ the police report states. ‘Mr. Harrison entered the room and noted all the lights were off. He proceeded to the bedroom and located Mr. Saget in his bed.

‘He stated Mr. Saget was cold to the touch’. He checked for breathing and a pulse but none were detected. It was at this time he had his dispatch call 911.

‘I checked the immediate area for signs of foul play. It should be noted none were found. The room itself was orderly with items owned by Mr. Saget on the nightstand, television stand, closet and bathroom,’ he wrote.

‘Mr. Saget was found in a supine position on his bed. His left arm was across his chest while his right arm was resting on the bed. No signs of trauma were seen.’

The report said a homicide team was notified as a matter of routine while officers broke the tragic news to Saget’s next of kin.

‘Corporal Brian Meadows (HO11) responded to the scene with the Forensics Unit. While on scene, hotel management spoke with Mr. Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, over the phone to inform her of his passing,’ the document states.

‘This decision was made after consulting with their legal team. The scene was turned over to Homicide while maintained scene security for the duration.’

The Sheriff’s office stressed in an accompanying release that Saget’s death was not being treated as a homicide.

‘All deaths, whether they are natural, suicide, overdose or homicide are always looked at by the homicide unit,’ the statement said. ‘That is our process here at the Sheriff’s Office. There is nothing to be drawn from that.’

The police report states that medications were ‘present’ at the scene – but the items involved are not listed. An entry for Saget’s medical history reads ‘unknown.’ He was due to check-out the day he was found.

Joshua Stephany MD, chief medical examiner for Orange and Osceola Counties, warned it would take up to three months to determine the cause of death.

‘An autopsy was performed this morning on Robert Lane Saget,’ Stephany said in a statement. ‘Mr. Saget is a 65-year-old male, who was found unresponsive in his hotel room. At this time, there is no evidence of drug use or foul play.

‘The cause and manner of death are pending further studies and investigation which may take up to 10-12 weeks to complete. When the autopsy report has been finalized, a follow up press statement will be released. Our condolences go out to Mr. Saget’s loved ones during this difficult time.’

A well placed source old DailyMail.com that Saget died suddenly in his sleep despite being healthy and in great spirits.

The close friend revealed there was no sign of a struggle, nor any indication that Saget had suffered before he was found in his room Sunday afternoon at a Ritz-Carlton golf resort in Orlando. His family were not aware of any underlying health conditions that could have abruptly taken his life.

‘There was no foul play, nothing odd at all. All we have been told is that he died in his sleep,’ the source explained. ‘We are all just devastated. I talked to him Saturday afternoon. He had a great show Saturday night. He was the most generous, lovely guy. It’s just tragic.’

Saget was fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and told fans in a podcast that he got his booster shot a month ago.

‘It is not good, it does not feel good — I had it,’ he said of contracting Covid on podcast A Corporate Time with Tom & Dan last week.  ‘At one point Omicron was opening for Delta, but then Omicron got so big, Delta’s opening now.’

In a final Instagram post less than 24 hours before he was found dead, Saget told fans he was ‘loving every minute’ of being back on stage.

‘Okay, I loved tonight’s show in Jacksonville. Really nice audience. Lots of positivity. Happened last night in Orlando last night at the Hard Rock Live too. Very appreciative and fun audiences. Thanks again to @comediantimwilkins for opening.

‘I had no idea I did a two hour set tonight. I’m back in comedy like I was when I was 26. I guess I’m finding my new voice and loving every moment of it.

‘A’ight, see you in two weeks Jan. 28 & 29 with my brother @therealmikeyoung – And check BobSaget.com for my dates in 2022 – – Goin’ everywhere until I get the special shot. And then probably keep going cause I’m addicted to this s**t. Peace out.’

In a statement on Monday, Saget’s widow Rizzo said: ‘When the time is right and when this news is not as raw, I look forward to sharing more of Bob with the world. Sharing how much he meant to me, all of those around him, and how much all of his fans and friends meant to him as well. Thank you for respecting my privacy at this time.’

An insider told People that Saget had chatted with Rizzo ‘in the early morning hours on Sunday’ and that the comic ‘was so excited coming off of a great show and he sounded really happy.’

‘Bob was her best friend and the love of her life,’ the source said. ‘They were so happy together and so happy that they found each other. They had the best marriage and they connected on such a deep level. She doesn’t know how to go on without him.’

Saget and Rizzo, who is a food blogger, initially met through friends Katie Killean and George Shapiro in 2015.

They married in October of 2018 in Santa Monica, California at the luxury hotel Shutters on the Beach with Saget’s friend, actor Jonathan Silverman, presiding over the ceremony.

Before the show, he sent a text to his 34-year-old daughter Aubrey which read: ‘Thank u. Love u. Showtime!’

Aubrey posted a screenshot of the message on Instagram on Sunday night.

They said: ‘We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has. We are thinking of his daughters, wife and family and are sending our condolences.’

Saget’s Full House costar John Stamos wrote that he was ‘broken’ and ‘gutted’ after hearing the news. ‘I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby,’ he lamented on Twitter.

The star is survived by his wife Kelly Rizzo, whom he married in 2018, and his three children — Aubrey, 34; Lara, 32; and Jennifer, 29 — all of whom he shared with his first wife Sherri Kramer, whom he was married to from 1982 to 1997.

His family paid tribute to their ‘beloved Bob’, saying they were ‘devastated’ by his passing. ‘He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter.

‘Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world,’ a statement said.

Police said in a statement: ‘On 1/9/2022, just after 4 p.m., deputies responded to the 4000 block of Central Florida Parkway (Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes) in response to a man down call.

‘On arrival, they located a man who was unresponsive in a hotel room. The man, identified as Robert Lane Saget, was pronounced deceased on scene. We have no information on cause of death, and detectives have found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case.’

The cause of death is yet to be determined and police ‘do not anticipate’ that further information will be given at this time.

The statement continued: ‘This is all the information we have for release at this time and we do not anticipate further updates. The Medical Examiner’s Office will ultimately determine cause and manner of death.’

The comedian’s unexpected death comes amid his cross-country stand-up tour, which kicked off back in September 2021.

He had recently played a string of dates in Florida, including a show in Orlando.

The comedy icon began his career as a stand-up in his hometown of Philadelphia, before heading west to Los Angeles.

He went on to have a string of small parts in films starting in the late 1970s, but it wasn’t until a decade later that he became a household name.

Although he developed a reputation among his fellow stand-up comedians for his profane comedy sets, Saget paradoxically had his greatest success with the heartwarming sitcom Full House.

He starred on the ABC series as Danny Tanner from 1987 through 1995, and then led the Netflix sequel series Fuller House for five seasons from 2016 to 2020.

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper from July 2021, Saget revealed that he never expected to lean into cleaner comedy shows like Full House.

‘Full House was an accident,’ he said. ‘I got fired on CBS and was asked to be in Full House.’

Saget played a widowed  sports anchor who moves in with his late wife’s brother Jesse (John Stamos) and his childhood friend Joey (Dave Coulier) as they help him raise his three daughters, played by Candace Cameron, Jodie Sweetin and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who split the role of Michelle Tanner.

On New Year’s Eve, Saget shared this post about the late actress Betty White and reflected on the afterlife and death. ‘I don’t know what happens when we die, but if Betty says you get to be with the love of your life, then I happily defer to Betty on this,’ he wrote

Tragic family history: Both of Saget’s sisters, Gay and Andrea, died as young adults. Gay had an autoimmune disease and Andrea suffered a brain aneurism

‘My heart is broken,’ said Dave Coulier, who played a comedian on Full House. ‘I love you, Bob. Your forever brother, Dave.’

Andrea Barber, who played Kimmy Gibbler on Full House and its sequel series, shared a sweet still from Fuller House of herself hugging Saget to mark his death.

‘This one hurts,’ she began her lengthy caption. ‘He had the biggest heart of anyone in Hollywood. He gave the biggest hugs. I am gutted that I will never be able to hug him again.

‘Bob ended every text, every interaction with ‘Love you.’ Didn’t matter how long or short we’d been apart. He loved so deeply and so fiercely,’ she continued.

‘And he never hesitated to tell you just how much you meant to him. This is the greatest lesson I learned from Bob Saget — don’t hesitate to tell people you love them. I feel at peace knowing that Bob knew exactly how much I adore him.’

She concluded: ‘Rest well, my dear friend. I have no doubt you are making everyone in Heaven laugh until their cheeks hurt, just as you did here on Earth ❤️.’

Candace Cameron Bure, who played the actor’s daughter D.J. Tanner on Full House, was left speechless after learning of his death.

‘I don’t know what to say [broken-hearted emoji]. I have no words,’ she tweeted. ‘Bob was one of the best human beings I’ve ever known in my life. I loved him so much.’

The comedian played up his family-friendly bona fides by concurrently starring on America’s Funniest Home Videos from 1989 through 1997.

He hosted the series, which collected humorous home videos sent in by fans, and also provided voiceovers for the clips to ramp up the comedy.

Although he didn’t appear in front of the camera, Saget’s recognizable voice narrated another ABC sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, in which he played an older version of Ted Mosby (played on-screen by Josh Radnor).

Barber said Saget ‘never hesitated to tell you just how much you meant to him. This is the greatest lesson I learned from Bob Saget — don’t hesitate to tell people you love them’ in a tribute posted alongside pictures of the original Full House cast

Life-long friends: ‘I feel at peace knowing that Bob knew exactly how much I adore him,’ Barber (pictured alongside Saget and Full House co-stars Dave Coulier, Jodi Sweetin and Candace Cameron-Bure) said in an emotional tribute

Barber (pictured alongside Fuller House stars to Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Jodi Sweetin and Candace Cameron-Bure) concluded: ‘Rest well, my dear friend. I have no doubt you are making everyone in Heaven laugh until their cheeks hurt, just as you did here on Earth ❤️’

The actor and comedian poked fun at his image with a recurring role on HBO’s Entourage, and he also led the single-season WB sitcom Raising Dad, which featured rising stars Kat Dennings and Brie Larson with Sopranos fixture Jerry Adler.

Saget wasn’t afraid to get a bit silly, and one of his recent appearances was as a disguised figure on The Masked Singer.

He focused more on his preferred brand of comedy in recent years with his podcast Bob Saget’s Here For You, which he began recording in 2020.

Other small but impactful roles include an uncredited part as a cocaine addict in Dave Chappelle’s 1998 stoner comedy Half Baked, and he was one of the many comedians featured in the documentary The Aristocrats, about the infamous foul comedy routine of the title.

When he wasn’t on stage or in front of the camera, Saget also tried his hand at directing.

He helmed the Norm Macdonald–starring comedy Dirty Work, which was reviled by critics but later reevaluated as a cult classic, and he provided voices for and directed the straight-to-video parody film Farce Of The Penguins.

Last year, Rizzo revealed on Instagram that the couple had spent their first Christmas together, despite having been married multiple years.

‘So happy to spend my very first Christmas with @BobSaget (even though we’ve been married over 3 years!) because he’s finally in Chicago for the holidays!’ she captioned a cute photo of the couple holding hands in front of a Chinese dragon statue.

Shortly before his death, Saget mused about the nature of the afterlife while paying tribute to Betty White after she died just days away from her 100th birthday.

‘I don’t know what happens when we die, but if Betty says you get to be with the love of your life, then I happily defer to Betty on this,’ he wrote, noting the actress’ undying love for her late husband Allen Ludden, who died in 1981.

Saget managed to be an unending source of humor for his fans despite several family tragedies earlier in life.

His sister Andrea died of a brain aneurysm in 1985, and his other sister Gay died from the autoimmune disease scleroderma in 1994.

In a 2019 interview with NIH Medline Plus Magazine, Saget revealed he had been working with the Scleroderma Research Foundation even prior to his sister’s diagnosis.

The disease leads to hardening of the skin and connective tissue, and the TV star described it as ‘incredibly painful,’ adding that his family was ‘still having post-traumatic stress disorder’ from caring for his sister in her final days.

His experience with the disease later inspired him to direct the TV Movie For Hope, which starred Dana Delany as a woman diagnosed with the same illness that killed his sister.

Following news of Saget’s death, tributes began flowing in from his famous friends and admirers, most of whom noted Saget’s warmth and kindness.

Bob Saget was found in bed by hotel security after his family was unable to get a hold of him, incident report says

Actor and comedian Bob Saget, who died Sunday at the age of 65, was discovered in bed in his Orlando hotel room after his family said they had not heard from him, according to an incident report released Monday by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The chief medical examiner said an autopsy was conducted Monday, but the cause of death has not yet been determined.

The sheriff’s office arrived at his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes just after 4 p.m. Sunday and found Saget lying on his back in bed. “His left arm was across his chest while his right arm was resting on the bed. No signs of trauma were seen,” the incident report said.

Saget was declared dead at 4:18 p.m. There were no immediate signs of foul play or drug use, the report said. The medical examiner said it may take 10 to 12 weeks for additional studies and investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.

The sheriff’s office said the room appeared orderly, with Saget’s belongings on his nightstand and the television stand and in the closet and bathroom.

Earlier, a member of hotel’s security team had gone to Saget’s room after his family said they had not heard from him, according to the report. Saget had been due to check out of his room that day. The security officer told the sheriff’s office that when he entered the room the lights were off. He went to the bedroom, where he said he found Saget in bed, “cold to the touch,” and called 911.

As authorities processed the scene, hotel management contacted Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, to inform her of his death, the report said.

Comedian, actor Bob Saget found dead at 65

Saget had performed in Ponte Vedra Beach the night before, posting about the experience on his social media accounts early Sunday morning.

“I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight,” he tweeted. “I’m happily addicted again to this s***.”

He was just beginning a standup comedy tour, with his next show scheduled for January 28 in West Palm Beach.

In the hours after his death was announced, his fans, friends and former co-stars expressed their devastation. Several of Saget’s “Full House” co-stars posted the same photo and statement to their Instagram pages on Monday afternoon.

“Thirty-five years ago, we came together as a TV family, but we became a real family. And now we grieve as a family. Bob made us laugh until we cried. Now our tears flow in sadness, but also with gratitude for all the beautiful memories of our sweet, kind, hilarious, cherished Bob. He was a brother to us guys, a father to us girls and a friend to all of us. Bob, we love you dearly. We ask in Bob’s honor, hug the people you love. No one gave better hugs than Bob. ~ John, Dave, Candace, Jodie, Lori, Andrea, Scott, Jeff, Ashley and Mary-Kate”

Saget had a career that spanned decades. In 1987, he landed a starring role in the ABC sitcom “Full House,” which ran for eight seasons. He got his big break while working as the warm-up comic for the TV show “Bosom Buddies” thanks to producer Jeff Franklin, who would go on to create “Full House.” He also hosted “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” provided the narration for all nine seasons of CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” and occasionally appeared on Netflix’s “Full House” reboot “Fuller House.”

In addition to his acting work, Saget was also a successful comedian. His standup act was filled with coarse language and sexual humor, creating a stark contrast with the family-friendly image he projected on the sitcom that made him a household name.

“People were surprised. I was playing in Vancouver one night in a casino up there, and there was a lady that just started to walk,” he said in 2017. “But for the most part I always adapt in a chameleon-like way to the audience. I don’t purposely go, ‘I’m gonna be crass here,’ if they’re not enjoying it, you know. I want to get laughs.”

Bob Saget, Comedian And “Full House” Star, Dies At 65; No Signs Of Drugs Or Foul Play – CBS Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Comedian and actor Bob Saget died Sunday. He was 65.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that deputies were called to the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes about an “unresponsive man in a hotel room.” The man was identified as Robert Saget and pronounced dead on the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case, the sheriff’s office said.

On Monday, chief medical examiner Joshua Stephany reported initial autopsy results saying, “At this time, there is no evidence of drug use or foul play.”

“The cause and manner of death are pending further studies and investigation which may take up to 10-12 weeks to complete,” Stephany said.

Saget, who had been on a comedy tour, tweeted his appreciation for the audience Saturday after performing a two-hour set in Jacksonville. The tweet included future comedy show dates for 2022.

Sunday afternoon, a wave of tributes to Saget came in over Twitter from fellow comedians like John Stamos, Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Stewart, and Jason Alexander.

Best known for his role as Danny Tanner on “Full House,” Saget has been a household name and favorite for nearly 40 years. “Full House” premiered in 1987 and ran its final episode May 23, 1995.

In 2016, Saget reprised his role when Netflix released a Full House reboot “Fuller House.”

Saget was also the host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” for eight years. Saget also provided the narration for all nine seasons of the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.”

The roles were in stark contrast to the uncensored stand-up he would deliver at comedy clubs at night.

“People were surprised. I was playing in Vancouver one night in a casino up there, and there was a lady that just started to walk,” Saget said to CBS News in a 2017 interview. “But for the most part, I always adapt in a chameleon-like way to the audience. I don’t purposely go, ‘I’m gonna be crass here,’ if they’re not enjoying it, you know. I want to get laughs.”

Early on, he was the warm-up comedian for the studio audience on the 1980s TV series “Bosom Buddies,” where he was given a small on-camera role and met Jeff Franklin.

“Franklin was a producer on that show and he’d always thought of me for Danny Tanner. He said he knew about Bob’s edgy side but he knew that I could also be the Richie Cunningham of the show,” Saget told CBS News.

Bob Saget, comedian and ‘Full House’ star, dead at 65

He was 65.

“We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today,” the Saget family said in their statement. “He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter. Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”

Saget was found dead in a hotel room on Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes, according to a statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

“The man was identified as Robert Saget & pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case,” the Sheriff’s statement read.

The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, the Sheriff’s office added.

Saget was in Florida as part of his comedy tour. According to tour dates pinned to his Twitter account, he performed Saturday night at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

He tweeted after the show, “Loved tonight’s show @PV_ConcertHall in Jacksonville. Appreciative audience. Thanks again to @RealTimWilkins for opening. I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight. I’m happily addicted again to this s—t.”

Saget, though known on the stage and among his friends for his raunchy humor, first became known to audiences on family-friendly programming. He starred as the widowed father of three girls on ABC’s “Full House” and then as host of the network’s “America’s Funniest Home Videos” clip show.

As Saget recalled to Jake Tapper in a July 2021 interview, the track of his career was unexpected.

“‘Full House’ was an accident,” he said. “I got fired on CBS and was asked to be in ‘Full House.'”

The sitcom, which starred Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen in one role, ran for eight seasons. It lived on in syndication with strong enough nostalgia surrounding it that Netflix picked up a spin-off in 2016, “Fuller House,” starring Bure but featuring frequent appearances from original stars, including Saget, Dave Coulier and John Stamos. It ran for five seasons, concluding in 2020.

“I’m close with all the kids. It doesn’t happen a lot in the world where you stay close with all the people,” Saget told Tapper. “We’re an unusual cast in that way that I have been able to remain close with everybody, because I don’t take eight years of my life lightly and then the other five or six years, six seasons.”

His “Full House” co-star Stamos expressed his grief over the loss of his friend and former colleague on Sunday.

“I am broken. I am gutted,” Stamos wrote on Twitter. “I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby.”

Coulier also marked his former co-star’s death on social media, posting a photo of the two holding hands and writing, “I’ll never let go, brother. Love you.”

Following his first round of sitcom fame, Saget worked steadily in film and television roles but became known to a new generation of sitcom fans on CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother,” acting as narrator and the voice of future Ted Mosby. That show ran until 2014.

Throughout the years, Saget remained a fixture in stand-up comedy, releasing multiple specials over the years and taking his show on the road.

Saget’s reputation for reveling in a much edgier brand of comedy could be seen in movies like “The Aristocrats” — exploring the competition among comics to tell the filthiest version of the same joke — and his guest stint on HBO’s “Entourage” as a version of himself.

Asked by Esquire to define his humor in a 2013 interview, Saget explained, “I am basically just a nine-year-old boy that evolved.” Toward that end, Saget seemed to relish pushing back against his success in squeaky-clean shows, telling dirty jokes at ABC events to make the executives squirm.

Saget was in the midst of a tour at the time of his death that was set to take him to locations in New York, Canada and several other locations in the coming months.

According to his website, Saget often hosted comedy events to raise money for the Scleroderma Research Foundation, for which he served on the board of directors. He lost his sister to the chronic disease in 1994, his website said.

In 2020, he launched a podcast, titled “Bob Saget’s Here For You,” an interview show where he welcomed guests like Tiffany Haddish, Jason Sudeikis, Whoopi Goldberg and Norman Lear.

Lear was one of the many who paid tribute to Saget on Sunday.

“Bob Saget was as lovely a human as he was funny,” Lear wrote on Twitter. “And to my mind, he was hilarious. We were close friends and I could not have loved him more.”
Fellow comedian and podcaster Marc Maron added: “Oh no. RIP Bob Saget. Truly one of the nicest guys and so funny. Very sad.”
Comedian Gilbert Gottfried described his “shock” over the news, writing on Twitter: “I just spoke with Bob a few days ago. We stayed on the phone as usual making each other laugh. RIP to friend, comedian & fellow Aristocrat Bob Saget.”

Bob Saget, beloved TV dad of ‘Full House,’ dead at 65

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Bob Saget, the actor-comedian known for his role as beloved single dad Danny Tanner on the sitcom “Full House” and as the wisecracking host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” died while on a stand-up tour. He was 65.

Deputies in Orange County, Florida, were called Sunday about an “unresponsive man” in a hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando and found Saget dead, according to a sheriff’s statement on Twitter. Detectives found “no signs of foul play or drug use in this case.”

Saget was in Florida as part of his “I Don’t Do Negative Comedy Tour.” After warm audience receptions to his gigs Friday in Orlando and Saturday in the Ponte Vedra Beach resort area, he celebrated online.

“I’m back in comedy like I was when I was 26. I guess I’m finding my new voice and loving every moment of it,” he posted Saturday on Instagram.

Fellow comedians and friends praised Saget not only for his wit, but his kindness.

“I am broken. I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him,” wrote John Stamos, who co-starred with Saget on “Full House.” “I love you so much Bobby.”

“I have no words. Bob was one of the best humans beings I’ve ever known in my life. I loved him so much,” said Candace Cameron Bure, who played Saget’s daughter on “Full House.”

“In often a ruthless business he was historically not just hilarious but more importantly one of the kindest human beings I ever met in my career,” actor Richard Lewis wrote on Twitter.

In a statement Sunday, Saget’s family members said they are “devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today…. Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”

Saget the stand-up showed his flip side with what become a much-talked-about cameo in the 2005 documentary “The Aristocrats” — in which 100 comics riffed on the world’s dirtiest joke — that revealed his notoriously filthy sense of humor.

Raunchy comedy wasn’t part of his long-running network TV shows. He hosted the family friendly “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and played the squeaky clean widower and dad to three young girls on “Full House,” the ABC sitcom that also brought fame to Olsen twins Mary-Kate and Ashley when it debuted in 1987.

“Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has,” the Olsens said in a joint statement.

The show’s popularity didn’t deter critics, some calling it cheesy and others deeming it unreal. Saget, as amiable and droll in an interview as he was on TV screens, took the brickbats in stride.

“‘Full House’ was a loving kind of show but obviously over the top. It had its heightened reality, a glossy Willy Wonka quality to it,” he told The Associated Press in a 2001 interview.

That year, Saget took another pass at playing a widowed dad with winsome kids on the short-lived sitcom “Raising Dad.”

He said he found himself repeatedly fielding questions about his habit of playing sitcom widowers, and had a ready response: “(Kevin) Costner does three, four baseball movies and that’s OK. There’s my rationale.”

Saget was born in Philadelphia on May 17, 1956, to Benjamin, a supermarket executive, and Rosalyn, who worked in hospital administration. He graduated Temple University and enrolled briefly in the University of Southern California to study film.

He left the college but stayed in Los Angeles and shifted to stand-up comedy, which led to small roles in TV and film before he found success with “Full House.” He also appeared in some episodes of the sitcom’s “Fuller House” 2016-20 sequel and was heard as the narrator on “How I Met Your Mother,” which ran for nine seasons on CBS.

“Bob Saget was the older wiser ‘me’ for nine years on How I Met Your Mother,” tweeted cast member Josh Radnor. “He was the kindest, loveliest, funniest, most supportive man. The easiest person to be around. A mensch among mensches.”

In guest appearances on the Hollywood-set dark comedy “Entourage,” Saget played a warped character named Bob Saget who was foul-mouthed but, unlike the man himself, was a misogynist and worse.

In early 2020, Saget was preparing for the start of his comedy tour when the pandemic put it on hold. He turned his energies to a podcast, “Bob Saget’s Here For You,” which gave fans an open mic to comment and ask him questions.

He focused occasionally on directing over the years, including on HBO’s “The Mind of the Married Man,” and the Norm Macdonald film “Dirty Work,” and appeared on Broadway in “Hand to God” and in “The Drowsy Chaperone.”

He drew praise as producer-director of the 1996 TV film “For Hope,” loosely based on the battle of his late sister, Gay, with the tissue disease scleroderma, and appealed for increased federal support for research funds.

He remembered his sister in a January 2020 post, noting that she died when she was 47 and would have been 73 that month.

Saget had daughters Aubrey, Lara and Jennifer with first wife Sherri Kramer before divorcing in 1997. He married Kelly Rizzo in 2018.
