Harry Styles and Gucci called out for ‘sick’ ad campaign after Balenciaga controversy

Harry Styles, and luxury fashion brand Gucci, are taking heat for an ad campaign featuring Styles wearing a t-shirt with a teddy bear on it in front of what some are alleging is a toddler bed.

Critics of the campaign are drawing similarities to a recent controversial Balenciagia ad, which featured toddlers with teddy bears in bondage. Both Gucci and Balenciagia are owned by the same parent company, Kering Group.

“A performance piece starring #HarryStyles and the #GucciHAHAHA collection,” the brand tweeted.

LILA ROSE: BALENCIAGA ADS ARE A SYMPTOM OF A DEADLY DISEASE ATTACKING OUR KIDS

Critics immediately drew a connection between the Gucci ad, and the controversial Balenciaga campaign.

“@gucci Why would you create a ‘performance piece’ with a toddler’s mattress and an adult man?” Alexandra Gucci Zarini, activist and heiress of the Gucci family, posted on Instagram. “My concerns are that there seems to be a common ideology across Kering’s Fashion Houses.”

“Gucci are having Harry Styles pose alongside a child’s mattress with a pink teddy bear shirt. Why are all fashion brand ad makers sick creeps?” tweeted political commentator Sophie Cochran.

“Why does #gucci  have Harry Styles, a grown man  posing with a child’s mattress and a pink teddy bear t shirt?  Im not loving this,” tweeted Scottish TV personality and author Gillian McKeith.

“Are you kidding me? A grown man with a toddler mattress?!” Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Katrina Scott commented on Gucci’s Instagram post of the ad. “What is going on with these brands?!”

Balenciagia came under fire earlier this month for two separate ad campaigns. One depicted children alongside teddy bears in bondage, and another included legal documents referencing a Supreme Court case about child pornography.

While Balenciaga apologized for the ad campaigns at the time, both Gucci and parent company Kering remained silent.

Balenciaga ads are a symptom of a deadly disease attacking our kids

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The high fashion brand Balenciaga recently released a shocking ad campaign sexualizing young children. These ads featured toddlers holding stuffed animals dressed in BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadism, and masochism) gear like harnesses and nets. There was even a court document about child pornography partially hidden in one image.

The ads were absolutely disgusting. After public outcry, Balenciaga apologized for the ads sexualizing children. They didn’t provide an explanation or donate funds to child protection organizations, they merely removed the ads. Balenciaga’s leadership team and anyone else responsible for these images should resign or be fired. Saying “We apologize for any offense,” is not enough.

The Balenciaga embarrassment is merely a symptom of a deadly disease that pervades our culture: the “pornification” of our media, the horrific danger it poses, and the damage it causes to our children. It is our responsibility as parents, teachers, and reasonable adults, to stand up for the safety of children who cannot advocate for themselves.

Why would one of the best-funded and most highly regarded marketing teams in the industry, which targets the most affluent customers in the world, consider this to be a successful strategy to sell purses? Who was this intended to appeal to, and why did they think it would sell a $3,000 handbag?

BRITTANY ALDEAN THROWS OUT BALENCIAGA BAGS FOLLOWING CONTROVERSIAL AD CAMPAIGN INVOLVING CHILDREN

The Balenciaga images were so galling that little defense was mustered on their behalf even in the most sexually deviant corners of the internet. But when money was on the line many lost their voice. Celebrities that make big money from the brand through endorsements like Kim Kardashian and Nicole Kidman were silent for days. Kardashian’s reaction took a week, and even then she couldn’t distance herself from the paycheck she receives from the brand. Her lackluster response was nothing more than a tacit endorsement of the pornification of our society.

Where is the outrage demanding security and retribution for these children? We have seen the power of cultural figures when they demand justice for a cause. People and brands are “canceled.” Public figures are banished from public life. Individuals lose their entire livelihoods and reputations. But when a major fashion brand releases pictures that could flag an FBI investigation into possession of child sexual abuse material, the resounding clamor for justice from our culture becomes a muted whimper.

This is the moment for all of us to say no – we will no longer put up with the sexualization of our children. These are precious, innocent lives being emotionally and physically damaged by the worst of society, who value greed and lust above human dignity.

We must speak up with one voice opposing the degradation of our kids. This cuts across the shallow divisions of our time. Democrat or Republican, urban or rural, religious or non-religious, we must all stand up to defend those who we have a duty to protect. The actions of the past week show how desensitized our society is to this madness. Silence is not an option. In this case, silence provides cover for child abuse.

After the backlash, the ad’s photographer claimed that he had no say in what props or models were used in the shoot. He claimed his only responsibility was “to [light] the given scene, and take the shots.” The items were clear, and the age of the child was apparent. How the photographer could continue to capture these images and not speak up is mind-boggling. When we see an atrocity occurring, such as a crime against a child, and we say nothing, and do nothing – then we are part of the problem.

Speaking out means demanding justice. The hyper-sexualization of children must stop now. According to the United States Sentencing Commission in 2019, over half (52.2 percent) of non-production child pornography offenses included images or videos of infants or toddlers, and nearly every offense (99.4 percent) included prepubescent victims. The sentencing enhancements for images depicting sadistic or masochistic conduct or abuse of an infant or toddler were applied in 84 percent of cases. Just to make it a bit more different.

Clearly, the expert marketers at Balenciaga think that our society values social status and sexual pleasure – including the deviant and violent kind – more than the safety and welfare of our children.

This mindset perpetuates our throw-away culture, whose worst consequences include the struggling state of our foster system, failing schools, and the dehumanization of children in the womb. When we devalue life at any stage, we devalue it all together.

The truth is, children can’t advocate for themselves, they can’t organize, vote, or lobby. They are totally defenseless. It is the civic obligation and moral imperative of reasoned adults to be their voice and refuse to give an inch of ground to those who want to destroy them.

Balenciaga should be ashamed and held accountable. Children deserve better than our pornified culture. We owe them safety and stability.

Megyn Kelly blasts ‘disgusting’ Kim Kardashian over Balenciaga ties

Megyn Kelly lashed out at “disgusting, shameful billionaire” Kim Kardashian for not severing ties with high-end fashion brand Balenciaga in the wake of its controversial photo shoot in which young children are seen holding dolls outfitted with BDSM garb.

Kelly told her Sirius XM audience tuning in to “The Megyn Kelly Show” on Tuesday that Kardashian is at fault for “refusing to disassociate from the brand even though she’s a billionaire.”

“She’s a disgusting, shameful billionaire because the money is worth more than her morals and the protection of these children to her,” Kelly said.

The former Fox News star said the Balenciaga photo shoot amounts to “sexualization of children” and that it is “titillating to pedophiles.”

The Post has sought comment from Kardashian’s representatives.

The high-end fashion brand — whose roster of celebrity endorsers includes A-listers such as Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Ye (the rapper also known as Kanye West) and Hailey Bieber — has come under fire over the controversial photo shoot.

The shoot included images of two young girls holding stuffed animals dressed in bondage gear.

Kardashian, the 42-year-old mogul, condemned Balenciaga over its controversial photo shoot, but stopped short of cutting ties with the high-end fashion house.

One photo shows a ginger-haired girl wearing a Balenciaga T-shirt while holding on to a white teddy bear. The doll was dressed up in a vest with a padlocked choker around its neck.

Another image shows a brunette child brandishing a purple plush animal that was adorned with similar BDSM attire.

Kardashian broke her silence earlier this week after she and other celebrities were slammed for not speaking up and condemning the brand.

The reality TV star said she was “re-evaluating” her relationship with Balenciaga after she was left “shaken by disturbing images.”

“I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened,” the 42-year-old mogul began her lengthy Twitter thread.

“As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period,” she continued.

“I appreciate Balenciaga’s removal of the campaigns and apology. In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again.”

“As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with — & the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children,” she ended the thread.

Balenciaga removed the ad campaign and issued an apology.

“Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign,” the fashion house said in a statement.

Kelly said the photo shoots were tantamount to “sexualizing children.”

“We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.”

Kelly has been a frequent critic of Kardashian. She accused her family of being a “force for evil” because they flaunted “unrivaled vanity.”

Kim Kardashian Just Hit Kanye West Where It Hurts By Wearing Adidas And Balenciaga Outfit On Instagram

Kim Kardashian continues to rock her single gal glow with sultry, curve-hugging and designer ensembles in posts for her 334 million Instagram followers. The reality star, 42, just uploaded a new mirror pic for fans in which she is seen donning a gray, logo print, lurex turtleneck sweater from the Balenciaga x Adidas collaboration, skimpy black shorts adorned with the iconic Adidas white stripes, and black over-the-knee boots by Balenciaga from their Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

While Kardashian is no stranger to stunning in pieces from both of these brands, with Balenciaga being her ex Kanye West‘s favorite label and him having just lost his Yeezy deal with Adidas (thanks to his violent antisemitic comments), some fans think this seems like interesting timing.

In the SKIMS mogul’s upload, she is seen sitting on a couch, posing to show her body’s side profile and holding up a phone with a black case that covers her face. Kardashian wore her long, wavy blonde locks down and parted in the middle for the snap, and appeared to be hanging out in her walk-in closet.

For her caption, the style icon who really needs no introduction kept her message to fans simple, writing, “hey.” While garnering millions of likes in the process, Kardashian’s pic also inspired many comments of approval and others condemning her for wearing items from a label that is currently facing backlash for its latest advertisements.

“Incredible figure,” wrote one fan while another conveyed their thoughts with a plethora of heart-eye emojis. Kardashian has been a brand ambassador and outspoken fan of Balenciaga for several years now, and her ex, West (who is now legally known as Ye) collaborated with the label for the popular Yeezy Gap line earlier this year. The fashion powerhouse (along with Adidas) severed all ties with Ye following his slew of antisemitic comments and controversial statements.

Balenciaga Comes Under Fire For New Ads

In Kardashian’s post’s comment section, many fans urged the mom of four to “call out Balenciaga” or to “stop wearing” clothes from them following a recent advertisement campaign that isn’t sitting well with many.

Balenciaga has since apologized for their controversial holiday ad campaign that depicted children holding teddy bears and handbags that featured fetish gear, including harnesses, cuffs and fishnets. This then sparked thousands of TikTok, Twitter and Instagram users to use a new hashtag— #cancelBalenciaga this week.

Demna Gvasalia, Georgian fashion designer and creative director of Balenciaga just released a statement via Instagram on the matter, writing,”We sincerely apologise for any offence our Holiday campaign may have caused.” He continued, “Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign. We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.”

With Kardashian, Justin Bieber and Bella Hadid as just some of the French fashion house’s biggest models and style muses, many social media users continue to call out to them specifically. Some of Kardashian’s most memorable outfits of the year featured Balenciaga designs, such as her recent pink cut-out gown worn to the Baby2Baby Gala last week, her plunging, waist-cinched black gown for the label’s 51st Couture Collection show at Paris Fashion Week, and more.

How One Balenciaga Ad Sparked an Outrageous Conspiracy Theory

Balenciaga might have left Twitter, but that hasn’t stopped users of the site from dissecting the luxury brand’s every move.

On November 21, June Nicole Lapine, better known as @shoe0nhead, took to Elon Musk’s Twitter to imply that the luxury fashion label is conspiring to exploit children  — a baseless claim rendered even more preposterous by the YouTuber’s reasoning.

She begins by highlighting a few photos from Balenciaga’s holiday gifting campaign, which starred child models clutching the brand’s harness-clad teddy bear bags, accessories that debuted at Balenciaga’s Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 runway presentation.

While some have objected to Balenciaga’s decision to place the BDSM-inspired bags in the hands of young kids, the isolated campaign isn’t exactly indicative of a wider conspiracy.

Still, Lapine builds her case by erroneously linking the images to photos from an entirely separate — again, entirely separate — campaign promoting Balenciaga’s collaboration with adidas.

Said photographs feature the collaboration’s Three Stripes handbag atop a pile of very official looking documents.

Upon zooming in, one of those documents is revealed to be a comment from United States v. Williams, a Supreme Court ruling that upheld the PROTECT Act, a federal law that criminalizes advertising, promoting, presenting, or distributing child pornography.

A bizarre choice in set dressing? Absolutely. Definitive proof that, as Lapine suggests, Balenciaga is hinting at something unlawful? Hardly.

She goes on to cite Balenciaga’s wiped Instagram feed as further indication of the brand’s supposed guilt. Of course, anyone who follows the company knows that it periodically erases its feed and fills the blank slate with its latest drop.

Just before Lapine’s conspiratorial tweets went viral, Balenciaga’s official Instagram was replenished with fresh imagery of its Spring 2023 Garde-Robe collection, which launched for pre-order on the morning of November 21.

Some particularly zealous conspiracy theorists began commenting on Balenciaga’s latest posts with references to Lapine’s claims, which have since garnered tens of thousands of likes and re-tweets.

On November 22, Balenciaga turned off comments on its Instagram page and posted a Story apologizing for the drama surrounding its holiday gifting campaign.

“Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign,” the statement read. “We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.”

Two hours later, Balenciaga posted a follow-up Story addressing those court documents peeking out from underneath the adidas bag, a swift response that may have been prompted by the Kanye controversy it only just escaped the month prior.

“We are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our Spring 23 campaign photoshoot,” it clarified. “We stand for children safety and well-being.”

Balenciaga did not immediately respond to Highsnobiety’s request for further comment.

While it’s tempting to buy into Lapine’s salacious plot line, she presents zero evidence that, as she implies, Balenciaga is atually tied up in some sort of Epstein-esque child abuse ring.

Also misinformed: her claim that the photo featuring a copy of United States v. Williams is part of the same campaign featuring Balenciaga’s teddy bears (which, by the way, are costumed more like ’80s punks than actual leather fetishists).

Of course, she’s just doing what the internet does best: making mountains out of molehills in the name of clicks.

Hey, we all do it, but at the very least, Lapine could get her facts straight.

Or not! The story may be utterly baseless but it sounds offensive, which was enough to get it a mention on Tucker Carlson’s famously fact-free primetime show. As a result, conservatives across Twitter are piling on the untruths. Just as Elon intended!

Kim Kardashian avoids Kanye West at their their son’s soccer game amid his anti-Semitism scandal

Kim Kardashian does her best to avoid ex Kanye West at their their six-year-old son Saint’s soccer game amid the rapper’s anti-Semitism scandal

Kim Kardashian continued to prove she is the most stylish soccer mom of the bunch while attending her six-year-old son Saint’s latest game in Calabasas, California, as she did her best to avoid ex-husband Kanye West.

As she watched her little boy’s scrimmage from a black folding chair, the 42-year-old reality star stayed as far away as possible from her former spouse, 45, who has been dropped by Adidas, Balenciaga, and his talent agency CAA following his antisemitic tirades this month.

While rocking an all-black Balenciaga ensemble and large shades, she was seen actively ignoring West after taking to her Instagram to publicly condemn hate speech and state that she stands with ‘the Jewish community’ and calls on ‘the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end.’

Despite the stress of having to see the father of her four kids, with whom she also shares North, nine, Chicago, four, and three-year-old Psalm, the SKIMS founder put on a brave face and cheered for their little one during her outing.

She also took the opportunity to chat with another parent or pal, seated by her side, while trying to beat the heat by wearing her platinum blonde tresses in an elegant updo.

The garment designer wore loose-fitting black trousers and a mock-neck shirt with the brand’s logo across the front underneath a long, hooded trench coat.

She finished off the sporty and chic look with Balenciaga’s $1,350 pair of Xpander Spring Heel Trainer sneakers made with nylon, fabric and faux leather.

Kylie Jenner enters and leaves Balenciaga show in two DIFFERENT outfits at Paris Fashion Week

Kylie Jenner wore to completely different outfits while entering and leaving the Balenciaga show at Paris Fashion Week.

The 25-year-old lip kit mogul arrived at the extravaganza in a clinging cream off-the-shoulder dress that showcased her hourglass figure.

While emerging from the show however she concealed her world-famous curves under a boxy highlighter green smock.

In and out: Kylie Jenner wore to completely different outfits while entering and leaving the Balenciaga show at Paris Fashion Week

Kylie documented the quick-change on her Instagram page, posting videos of her both ‘arriving’ and ‘leaving’ the Balenciaga show.

Her cream arrival dress featured long sleeves and was clashed elegantly against a electric blue pair of high-heeled boots.

Meanwhile the green exit dress was artfully contrasted against a set of black leggings and a matching set of opera gloves.

Sweeping her dark hair tightly back into a bun, the cosmetics tycoon accentuated her unmistakable screen siren features with makeup.

Looking fab: Sweeping her dark hair tightly back into a bun, the cosmetics tycoon accentuated her unmistakable screen siren features with makeup

She offered her whopping 370 million Instagram followers a tantalizing view of her shapely legs crossed as she clutched a bag of Balenciaga goodies.

Exhausted from all the runaround, she at one point curled up on a couch for a quick nap with her hairstylist Jesus Guerrero and her makeup artist Ariel Tejada.

Away from the glamour of the runway, she also allowed her fans to get a glimpse of her behind-the-scenes beauty routine.

Kylie uploaded a brief close-up clip to her Insta Stories that showed her bleaching her eyebrows apparently after completing her engagement’s for the day.

In a Gallic flourish, she also posed up a storm on her bed eating grapes from an elegant metal tray while modeling lingerie.

Her face was gently made up for a naturalistic vibe, and she sported the drenched-hair look, letting her black do tumble free over her shoulders.

Kylie put her enviably trim midriff and her amply endowed cleavage on display, looking almost liable to spill out of her bra.

Her busty new social media offerings comes after she revealed on an episode of The Kardashians that she was ‘more present’ during her second pregnancy.

Making it work: Away from the glamour of the runway, she also allowed her fans to get a glimpse of her behind-the-scenes beauty routine

The reality star and her rapper boyfriend Travis Scott share a daughter called Stormi, four, and a seven-month-old son whose name has not yet been disclosed.

In a confessional on this week’s episode of The Kardashians, Kylie dished: ‘I feel like with my second one, you just anticipate everything and you know what’s going to happen and you’ve done it before, so I feel like I was a lot more present this time.’

Then during a conversation with her mother Kris Jenner, who has six children, Kylie reflected on the ‘interesting’ differences between her first and second pregnancy.

‘I feel like, with your first baby, it’s like a shock to see your body change so much,’ Kylie said. ‘This time around, I don’t feel that at all.’

Sensuous: Her face was gently made up for a naturalistic vibe, and she sported the drenched-hair look, letting her black do tumble free over her shoulders

Now she ‘trusts the process’ and is ‘way less stressed about my weight and what I look like and more into the whole feminine energy.’

When they welcomed their baby son this February, Kylie and Travis initially announced that they had named him Wolf.

However, shortly thereafter, Kylie shocked her fans by revealing on social media: ‘FYI OUR SONS NAME ISN’T WOLF ANYMORE.’

She explained: ‘WE JUST REALLY DIDN’T FEEL LIKE IT WAS HIM. JUST WANTED TO SHARE BECAUSE I KEEP SEEING WOLF EVERYWHERE.’

Family matters: The reality star and her rapper boyfriend Travis Scott share a daughter called Stormi, four, and a seven-month-old son whose name has not yet been disclosed

Their decision prompted Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli’s son Wolfgang, who goes by Wolf, to cheekily tweet: ‘THANK F***.’

On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kylie revealed she called the baby Wolf in a pinch because she felt pressured to choose a name.

She and Travis apparently had been laboring under the impression that a name ‘would just come to us when we saw him… and it didn’t.’

The couple then ‘had to sign the birth certificate or else they just register him without a name and he doesn’t get a Social Security Number and the whole thing.’

Now it’s changed: On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kylie revealed she called the baby Wolf in a pinch because she felt pressured to choose a name

They quickly regretted their snap decision and Kylie put out the announcement that the baby was no longer called Wolf.

Although Kylie spilled that ‘I think we know the official name’ now, she did not announce it on the episode ‘because God forbid we change it again.’

She shared: ‘Travis actually still changes his name a few times. He’ll come back and he’ll be like: “I really like this name.” And then for the day he’ll call him that and I’m like: “We can’t do this again.” I’m waiting for him to just name himself.’

Balenciaga Goes Where Fashion Hasn’t Dared Go Before

PARIS — In a cold, dark airplane hangar on the edge of Paris, as reports broke of more than 1.5 million refugees fleeing through Europe from Ukraine, Demna, the mononymic designer of Balenciaga who had fled Georgia as a 12-year-old during that country’s civil war, built an enormous snow globe and let loose a storm.

Into the wind struggled men and women clutching faux trash bags seemingly filled with belongings, slipping in spike-heeled boots, clutching big black coats that flew out around them, heads down. A few were shivering in boxer shorts, with only towel-like shawls for protection. Long dresses streamed backward. The music pounded; overhead, lights (bombs? lightning?) flashed in the obscured sky.

Outside the glass an audience watched, clutching blue and yellow T-shirts the shades and almost the size of the Ukrainian flag that had been left on every seat, along with a note from the designer (who also read, in Ukrainian, a classic poem — a prayer of strength for Ukraine — from the writer Oleksandr Oles, at the start of the show).

The war had, Demna wrote in the note, “triggered the pain of a past trauma I have carried in me since 1993, when the same thing happened in my country and I became a forever refugee. Forever, because that’s something that stays with you. The fear, the desperation, the realization that no one wants you.”

Thus did a collection originally meant as commentary on climate change — a theme Demna began exploring before the pandemic and which he here intended as a meditation on an imaginary future where snow is relegated to the status of man-made fantasy — become instead an exceptionally powerful response to war.

For the last week and a half of conflict, fashion has been almost apologetic about its own existence; about daring to offer a frivolous, unnecessary product amid a global crisis. There’s been a lot of lip service to the idea of beauty as a salve; a lot of “All I can do is what I do best” sort of thing. (Plus donate money and emergency goods, of course, and close stores in Russia.) A lot of reminding about all the people that the industry employs.

That’s a perfectly valid response to the situation. It can even be inspired, as at Valentino, which also began with a voice-over from the designer Pierpaolo Piccioli, offering a paean to the people of Ukraine — “We see you, we feel you, we love you” — before seguing into a collection conceived to highlight the power of the individual.

It was built on a single shade: not black or white, but rather a sort of signature hot pink — dubbed Pink PP, about to become an official Pantone color — that also was the tint of the walls and floor. There was a brief section of black, as a sort of palate cleanser, but it was the pink that stood out. And offered an update to the classic Valentino red.

Pink towering platform shoes under pink tights. Floor-sweeping pink shirt-dresses that looked more like royal robes. Little abbreviated pink sequin dresses. Sheer pink blouses. Molded pink minis. Pink tea dresses covered in flowers. Pink handbags. Pink everywhere you looked, except the faces, which stood out, each on its own. The effect was a little dizzying, but it made the point.

Of course, simply getting down to the job, as Matthew Williams did at Givenchy, is OK too.

He combined the streetwear influences first brought to the brand by Riccardo Tisci (layered tees, like a tour through logos past; nylon hooded anoraks beneath tailored jackets; thigh-high leather boots) with its clichés (“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” pearls; ruffled amalgamations of tulle and organza) plus his own affinity for a bit of hardware. The result was his most coherent collection yet.

Yet there’s no reason, as Demna proved, that designers should be afraid of grappling with the tough stuff. He had almost, he said in his notes, canceled the Balenciaga show, until “I realized canceling this show would mean giving in.” So instead, he shook it up. It was a risk.

After all: very expensive leather trash bags veer dangerously close to deeply bad taste. Though this is the same designer that made very expensive versions of the Ikea bag. Part of his schtick is elevating the unseen everyday to deluxe status, poking fun at the pomposity of the fashion beast.

And the fact that some of his models were wrapped in Balenciaga-branded packing tape catsuits could seem very much like a runway-only social-media-catnip gimmick.

Especially because Kim Kardashian actually modeled a packing tape look in the audience — an outfit (can you even call it that?) she said had taken four Balenciaga assistants half an hour to create. Not only did the tape make sticky, squeaky sounds as she walked, but Ms. Kardashian was, she professed, worried that when she sat down some sections might rip apart. (It didn’t, much to her relief, though she said she still was not sure how she would go to the bathroom.)

Yet backstage, after the show, Demna said the tape wasn’t just a joke — it was also a nod to the dress-up experiments he’d done as a rootless child. And that they’d be selling the rolls in stores, so everyone would be able to D.I.Y. their own look, in a sort of extreme version of make do and mend.

One that made crystal clear that for him, the clothes themselves, in ready-to-wear anyway, may be the least of the matter. After all — aside from a strapless denim jumpsuit made from two pairs of jeans (the waist of one formed a bustier atop the other), a dress silk-screened to mimic lace and bags made from melded pairs of boots — most of the stuff as seen through the snow — long jersey dresses, hoodies, asymmetric florals, enveloping greatcoats — looked pretty much the same as it has for a few seasons now.

But combined with the Simpsons show of last season; the experiments with virtual reality; the earlier, immersive, climate change scenarios (for those wondering, most of this season’s set would be recycled, the carbon emissions offset); plus the Donda shows he worked on with Ye; the roiling depiction of refugees under glass confirmed Demna’s position as the greatest scenographer in fashion, and its most fearless.

His subject isn’t silhouette, it’s the human condition. On an epic, pop culture scale.

Kanye West Leaks Contract To Announce Yeezy x Gap x Balenciaga Collab

Ye has officially teamed up for a collaboration with Gap and Balenciaga.

All of the rumors were true. The fashion world was hit with a lightning strike on Friday morning (January 7) when Kanye West announced the official collaboration between Yeezy, Gap, and Balenciaga. He made the announcement in unorthodox style (well, not for him) by leaking one page of the contract signed by himself, Balenciaga’s Demna, and Gap’s higher-ups.

For the last few years, Ye has been working closely with Gap to develop his own collection. Over the course of the last twelve months, few pieces have seen the light of day, aside from the “Perfect Hoodie” in multiple colors. And in recent months, every time Ye steps out of the house, he’s been wearing Balenciaga, usually rocking the same outfit as the day prior. On dates with his new girlfriend Julia Fox, he has also been dressing her in the latest Balenciaga styles, much as he did with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
