Marshalltown police announce arrest in deadly Casey’s shooting

Marshalltown police said they have arrested a man accused of killing a Casey’s clerk in Marshalltown on Monday morning.Twenty-year-old Rocky Trujillo, of Marshalltown, is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, going armed with intent, assault with intent to inflict serious injury and trafficking in stolen weapons. Police believe Trujillo shot and killed 48-year-old Michael Ray West in the chest early Monday morning.Police executed a search warrant for a home on Bromley Street and arrested Trujillo late Monday.According to police, the shooting happened just after 3 a.m. Monday at a Casey’s store on North Third Avenue. Police Chief Michael Tupper told KCCI a man walked into the store and opened fire. There were witnesses inside the store when the shooting happened.Officers say they found Casey’s employee Michael Ray West with a gunshot wound at the store. Chicago-Area Schools Announce Closures, Moves to E-Learning Amid Winter Storm – NBC Chicago

With heavy snow expected to hammer the Chicago area through Tuesday morning, dozens of school districts have canceled classes or announced that they will move to e-learning as a result of the weather.

According to the latest updates from the Emergency Closing Center website, numerous districts have announced that they will either fully cancel classes or move to e-learning as a result of the severe weather.

Here is a full list of the schools that have announced closures.

You can find the latest information on the ECC website. 

All in-person classes in Chicago Public Schools are also canceled on Tuesday, with those classes transitioning to remote learning.

Several area colleges have also announced the cancellation of in-person classes, including DeKalb’s Northern Illinois University. All classes after 5 p.m. Monday will be moved online for the rest of the day.

All in-person classes at the University of Chicago have been canceled beginning at 2:30 p.m. Monday, and those cancellations will run through noon on Tuesday.

Non-essential activities are also canceled.

City Colleges of Chicago announced that all in-person classes are canceled Tuesday, with some moving to in-person learning.

DePaul University’s Lincoln Park and Loop campuses will close Monday evening and remain closed on Tuesday due to the inclement weather, according to university officials.

All in-person classes are canceled, with online classes allowed to resume as scheduled. The school is calling for in-person classes to transition to remote learning if possible.

The University of Illinois-Chicago’s campus will close effective at 4 p.m. Monday, the school announced on social media.

Kankakee Community College will close its facilities at 2 p.m. Monday and will remain closed on Tuesday. All learning will move to remote learning format, the school said.

All facilities at Purdue University Northwest and Indiana University Northwest are also closed due to the inclement weather.

The Division 2 Will Get More Updates, Announce Seemingly Surprised Developers

Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have confirmed today that The Division 2 will receive more content this year, doubling down on statements made by Ubisoft’s CEO earlier this week during a call with investors.

The current season of The Division 2 is named “End of Watch” and wraps up a storyline and character arc that began all the way back in the first game. That fact, along with news of Division 2 developer Massive working on a big new Star Wars game, led many players to speculate that the most recent update, Title Update 12, was the last planned content update.

It turns out those players were correct. But since then, plans have changed. Massive announced today on Twitter and Reddit that TU12 was indeed the planned final update for the game, but that the studio is now changing course. It will release more content later this year, but had no additional details to share at this time.

“Today, we are thrilled to confirm that there will be additional content for The Division 2 released later this year! It is your continuous passion and support which enables us to continue to build upon The Division 2 experience, and we cannot thank you enough for that.”

G/O Media may get a commission

News of more Division 2 content was first vaguely announced by Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot earlier this week. During a February 12 call with investors, he said Massive would work with other Ubisoft studios together on the series. “You’re going to see more on The Division in this year and the year after,” said Guillemot. Today’s announcement from Massive specifies that players can look out for more Division 2 content and not some big new sequel from the looter-shooter franchise. Beyond that though, Massive’s announcement is vague and doesn’t really explain what kind of content will be added or when, beyond later this year. Almost as if they too didn’t know there was going to be more content until Guillemot declared it.

I don’t expect a Warlords of New York-sized DLC to be released this year, but instead more seasons of content with small new missions, and some new weapons added every few months. Not super exciting, but for fans of The Division 2 at least the game isn’t dead.

KLab has announced the development of a new PC and mobile online game based on the anime series Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? planned for worldwide distribution. It has partnered with Caravan Stories studio Aiming for development.

KLab plans to utilize its experience in intellectual property-based game development and operation know-how, both in Japan and overseas, to develop and distribute this new Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? game.

Further details were not announced.

Biden expected to announce dramatic increase in refugee admissions

President Biden on Thursday is expected to announce a dramatic increase in the number of admissions of refugees into the U.S. — the latest significant shift in immigration policy in his administration.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters that Biden will be announcing orders, including “to build up a more robust capacity for the United States to accept refugees from around the world.”

SUPREME COURT CANCELS ARGUMENTS OVER TRUMP-ERA IMMIGRATION POLICIES AT BIDEN ADMINISTRATION’S REQUEST 

Biden had promised to increase the number of refugees the U.S. brings in each year from 15,000 to 125,000. The Associated Press reports that Biden will fulfill that promise, which would increase the cap to more than eight times the level it is now.

That number would be higher than that under President Barack Obama by 15,000.

The outlet reports that the 125,000 figure will be for the budget year beginning in October, and the administration is required to consult Congress before making the determination.

BIDEN SIGNS THREE IMMIGRATION ORDERS IN LATEST MOVE TO REVERSE KEY TRUMP POLICIES 

He is also expected to do away with the narrower categories of eligibility that were formed under President Donald Trump and replace them with a long-standing referral system by the U.N.

It marks the latest in a number of sweeping reforms to immigration by Biden that largely reverse the policies of his predecessor.

He has so far stopped construction of the wall at the southern border, moved to strengthen protections for recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), set up a task force to reunify migrant families separated in the U.S., and has proposed an immigration bill to give a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants.

His Department of Homeland Security has also moved to place a 100-day pause on deportations, but that has been blocked due to a legal challenge from Texas.

Ravens announce the hirings of Rob Ryan, Anthony Weaver

The Ravens announced the hirings of Rob Ryan and Anthony Weaver to their defensive staff. Ryan will serve as inside linebackers coach and Weaver as run game coordinator/defensive line coach.

In a news release, head coach John Harbaugh said the team continues to interview candidates for their defensive backs coaching position.

“Rob is a proven NFL coach who brings extensive experience to the Ravens,” Harbaugh said in a statement. “In addition to his passion for the game, he has an outstanding ability to connect with and teach players.

“Anthony is highly regarded throughout the NFL. As a former Ravens’ draft pick who made significant contributions while playing here, he understands the culture of our organization and the standard to which Baltimore defense is held.”

Ryan, 58, is a 20-year NFL coaching veteran who most recently served in the same role for the Washington Football Team in 2019.

Weaver enters his 12th season of coaching, including his 10th in the NFL. He played seven NFL seasons, including his first four seasons in Baltimore. Weaver began coaching in 2010.

Weaver served as defensive coordinator/defensive line coach for the Texans in 2020.
