Samsung Galaxy A24 images reveal Galaxy S23-like design

The launch of the Galaxy S23 series is something millions of folks have been waiting for, even though the leaks have pretty much made Samsung’s Unpacked event null and void as everyone already knows what to expect from the new phones.

Of course, that isn’t to say everyone is going to buy a Galaxy S23-series smartphone. The Galaxy A series continues to be popular and will no doubt sell a lot more in 2023 as well. And one of the upcoming A series devices that could end up being a massive success, the Galaxy A24, has been revealed ahead of its official announcement in all its glory thanks to leaked 360-renders.

These renders show the device from the sides, back, and front, and the first thing you will probably notice (at least if you follow the mobile industry and all the leaks that have been happening) is that the A24 looks quite similar to a Galaxy S23 or Galaxy S23+ from the back. Part of it is down to those individual rear camera rings, which is a design theme that Samsung seems to have adopted for all devices this year.

The front, however, will probably give away the fact that it’s a mid-range phone we’re looking at, because of the waterdrop notch and the huge chin at the bottom. The latter is something we hope Samsung would have addressed already, but clearly, it don’t done so.

The specs might not be too impressive, either. The Galaxy A24 is reportedly powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chip, which is the first time that Samsung is using that chip on a phone if memory serves us right. Other specs are expected to be run-off-the-mill, too, such as a 6.4″ AMOLED display, at least 4 gigs of RAM, and Android 13 out-of-the-box.

The rear cameas are said to include a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera, while the 8MP camera for taking selfies and making video calls should see an upgrade to a 13MP camera. As far as battery capactity is concerned, it could either be 4,000 mAh or 5,000 mAh, though we have a feeling it will be the latter. In either case, charging should be quick as the A24 is said to support 25W charging, same as its last two predecessors.

There is no concrete time frame for when the Galaxy A24 will go official, though it shouldn’t be too far off. In any case, rest assured we will keep you updated as more news about the phone comes our way.

Jacob Elordi To Play Elvis In Sofia Coppola’s ‘Priscilla’ For A24 – Deadline

Sofia Coppola has set her sights on her next film as the Oscar-winner is set to direct the feature film Priscilla, which is based on the memoir Elvis and Me by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley with Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi set to play Priscilla and Elvis Presley. Published in 1985, Presley’s intimate account of her life with Elvis became a New York Times Bestseller and an international sensation. Coppola adapted the script as well.

Insiders say Coppola had been eyeing this film for some time as her follow-up to On The Rocks and began putting the pieces together to the film off the ground by this fall. While she met with a number of actors for the Elvis role (with Elordi ultimately landing the highly coveted role), Spaeny has been her top choice from day 1 for the role of Priscilla.

Coppola, Henley, Lorenzo Mieli of The Apartment, a Fremantle Company and American Zoetrope will produce the film and The Apartment, a Fremantle Company and Sony’s Stage 6 Films will finance the film. A24 will distribute in North America, Vision Distribution will distribute in Italy (and then become a Sky exclusive), Stage 6 Films/Sony Pictures International Releasing will distribute in the rest of the world.

Coppola will reteam with her longtime collaborators, including Director of Photography Philippe Le Sourd,  Costume Designer Stacey Battat, Editor Sarah Flack and Production Designer Tamara Deverell. This marks the third collaboration between Sofia Coppola and A24 with On The Rocks and The Bling Ring. A series adaptation of Edith Wharton’s The Custom of the Country is also in development. The film will shoot in Toronto in the Fall.

Coppola a is represented by Gersh and Hirsch Wallerstein. Spaeny is represented by WME and Sugar 23 and Elordi is repped by Gersh, Nicky Gluyas Management and Goodman Genow Schenkman.

A24 will stream The Green Knight for one night on August 18th

A24’s The Green Knight will make its virtual debut much earlier than expected — on August 18th, you’ll be able to buy a $20 ticket to stream the film through A24’s Screening Room platform.

The one-night-only stream isn’t a full streaming release for rental or purchase, given that The Green Knight is still otherwise exclusive to theaters. (A regular digital release will come later on in the theatrical cycle.)

As such, the screening is also far more limited than a typical rental: once you’ve purchased a $20 ticket, you’ll be able to stream the film during a four-hour window on August 18th starting at 9PM ET. The stream does come with a bonus Q&A with the cast and crew after the film, however.

Based on the classic epic poem, The Green Knight stars Dev Patel as the would-be knight who answers an ill-fated challenge to the titular Green Knight on Christmas day. The film was originally planned for a May 29th, 2020 release, but was delayed until this summer due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Once you’ve bought a ticket, A24 offers three ways to watch the film: through a web browser, through the Apple TV app, or through the Roku app. Unfortunately, though, A24 is only screening The Green Knight for US viewers — international film fans won’t be able to join.

The move marks the latest blurring of the line between theatrical and streaming releases. At $20, the price of a streaming ticket is comparable to seeing The Green Knight in theaters (especially if shared with multiple friends or family members), with the added bonus that A24 won’t have to share that ticket price with theaters. It’s a similar balancing act that has driven moves like Disney Plus’ Premiere Access films, which have offered the option of simultaneous $30 digital purchases and theatrical releases for films like Black Widow or Jungle Cruise. HBO Max has also taken a similar approach, offering simultaneous digital debuts for its 2020 slate at no extra cost to streaming subscribers alongside theatrical debuts.

A24 Teases Something Disturbing in the Barn

Image: A24

Though the first trailer for A24‘s Lamb—from director Valdimar Jóhannsson—at first seems like it’s about to tell you a story about a couple of lamb-herding farmers living quiet lives in the mountains, it quickly takes a dark turn that evokes both Sweet Tooth and Ari Aster’s Midsommar. There’s been something…strange going on with the couple’s shep, and the weirdness is all coming to term.

From the tense exchanges between Maria (Noomi Rapace) and Ingvar (Hilmir Snaer Gudnason), you can tell that something’s been amiss between the two of them—and that’s before they end up crouched on the dusty floor of a barn to help a sheep give birth to a new lamb.

The trailer doesn’t explicitly spell out what’s wrong at first as Maria and Ingvar look down at the lamb, but just from the somewhat human-like sounds it makes, it’s clear that whatever the creature is, it’s not fully a farm animal. The trailer’s brief shot of Maria kneeling in a graveyard juxtaposed with her carrying the newborn lamb-thing in a swaddling blanket makes it seem very much like she’s embracing it as a replacement, potentially for her own child. But what’s really eerie is how all of the lambs on the farm seeming gravitate towards Maria and Ingvar’s house as if they’re demanding to see the thing that was born in the barn. The only person who seems able to address the odd energy in Maria and Ingvar’s home is Pétur (Björn Hlynur Haraldsson), whose stony reaction to meeting the lamb/human hybrid child suggests that he’s going to be the one to state the obvious.

Lamb’s trailer doesn’t reveal what the creature is or how it came to be, but the few shots of a small child with a lamb head suggest that the couple should maybe turn themselves in for animal abuse and consider whether they’ve brought some sort of demon into the world. Given A24’s track record of putting out beautiful, disturbing movies (and the flower crown the lamb child wears), it feels safe to assume that when the movie hits theaters in the near future, it going to leave audiences uncomfortable and reevaluating their feelings about petting zoos.
